1 Zizan nitu tre inton mba imme, mmri vayi, ana wa ba la nha kpie nitu ma ni yiwuna.
But, brethren, you have no need that I write to you of the times and seasons;
2 Nitu biyi kimbi bi to ngyre-ngyreme ndi ivi u Bachi ani he na ndji u y'bi ni chu.
for you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night:
3 Wandi to ba tre si suron ni sonsi u iyayiwo tie gbla ye tu mba. Ani he na illo uwa ni grji. Bana tie bre na wo na.
for when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as the pains of birth upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.
4 U biyi, mmri vayi, bina he nimi bwu na wa ivi kika ye yiwu gbri me na ndji u y'bi.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Don biyi mrli bi kpan ni mrli bi rji-i. Kina mrli bi chu ko bi bwu na.
You are all sons of light, and sons of day: we are not of night, nor of darkness.
6 To wa-a, ki kana krunna to bari na. Amma kie ki hamma krunna ndi na son hlega na.
Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober.
7 Don bi krunna ba kru ni chu, u bi so ihi-a ba so ni chu me.
For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunken, are drunken in the night.
8 Amma kita biwa kie u'rji, gbigbi kie ka ki ni wrli ndi ka kpambu ni idran u son mba u bangaskiya ni yo suron ni Cheto.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation:
9 Don Irji ana chuta ni nfu na, amma ndu ta kpa Cheto ni nkoh Bachi mbu Yesu Kristi.
for God has not appointed us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 A wawuyi kwu ni tawu ndi ndu ta na kwu na, ko kie he sisren ka ki krunna.
who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we might live together with him.
11 Toyi bika tre ndindi ni kpa mbi ndi mme kpambi to wa bi fran ni tie.
Wherefore, exhort one another, and edify one another, as you also do.
12 bre yi njanjimu, mrli vayi, dun yi to tie ni bi ndu niyi ni ba nikoh mbi u Bachi wa ba nnoyi tre wa bi kri gbangban.
Now we beseech you, brethren, to have regard for those who labor among you, and preside over you in the Lord, and admonish you,
13 Kie hla yiwu ndu yi mla ba rji ni son don ndu mba. Ki ni sikpa nikpa mbi.
and that you esteem them very highly in love on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Ki bre yi, mri vayi: gbiton ni biwa bana to zren na, nno yo suron ni biwa isuron mba rju, zo biwa ba kwugble, ndi he vu suron ni ndji wawu-u.
We exhort you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, earnestly care for the weak-minded, be of a long-suffering disposition toward all.
15 Na ndu ri mbi rjula meme ni meme na. Ni naki, tie ndindi ni kpa-mbi.
See that no one render evil for evil to any, but always pursue that which is good toward one another and toward all.
16 Ngiri chachuwu.
Rejoice always;
17 Bre ka kle.
pray without ceasing;
18 Nimi ko ngyeri, ngiri. Don ahi tie Irji nimi Yesu Kristi ni yiwu
in every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Na wu Ruhu'a na.
Quench not the Spirit.
20 Na kpa anabci zri na.
Despise not prophesyings.
21 Tsra ko-ngye. Vu nji kpie'a nda ndindi.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Hi gbugban mu ni meme kpi
Abstain from every appearance of evil.
23 Dun Irji wa ani nno si'a ngla yi tsatsar me. Dun wawu suron mba ikpa mbi he ni ka la-tre hi ni ye Bachi mbu Yesu Kristi.
Now the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Wawu wa a yo yi'a ahe ni njanji suron, u wawu ni tie ngame.
Faithful is he that calls you; and he will do what he has promised.
25 Mmri vayi, bre Irji ni tawu ngame.
Brethren, pray for us.
26 Chi mmri vayi wawu-u ni chi u vri sisan.
Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 Mi bre yi ni-nde Bachi ndi kra mbi yi mmri vayi wawu.
I adjure you by the Lord, that this letter be read to all the holy brethren.
28 Dun Aliheri u Bachi mbu Yesu Kristi dun he ni yi.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
