< 1 Pita 2 >

1 Ka meme don wawu, iche, iwri, ingu, meme-tre.
Therefore having laid aside all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all calumniations;
like newly born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, in order that you may grow thereby unto salvation:
3 to-iki bi lla'to ndi Irji bi.
if you have tasted that the Lord is good.
4 Ye niwu ahi tita wa'ndi ba kamba niwu, u ahikii mba Irji chuw nda banwu nji mgbamgba meh.
Unto whom going forth, to a living stone, indeed rejected by men, but elect with God, precious,
and you, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, into a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, acceptable unto God through Jesus Christ.
6 Llan tre: “Tomba, mi ka-siiyo nitu zayon tita u mummle'a, wa Irji chuw nji mgbaameh. Indi wa a kpa nyimme ni wu'a ana kpa-ishan na.”
Because it runs thus in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and the one believing on him can not be ashamed.
7 Biyi biwa bi kpa nyime ni wu, daraja'a a umbi mba. U, “titawa bi mmeh ba kamba niwu'a, kima nihe itu tita'a” -
Therefore to you who believe he is precious: but to the unbelievers, the stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner, and the stone of stumbling, and the rock of offence,
who stumble over the word, disbelieving: unto which they indeed were appointed.
But you are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people unto conquest; in order that you may proclaim the virtues of the one having called you out of darkness unto his own marvelous light:
10 Ni kogohn Irji ana toh yi na, u zizan bihe indi Irji. Ni-gohn bina he ni jinkai na, u zizan bi he niwu.
who at one time were no people, but now you are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, lint just now having received mercy.
11 Mri ya, mi yo yi ndi bre yi dun yi ka memme'dri chuwo, wa-mba na zou na.
Beloved, I exhort you as pilgrims and strangers, to abstain from the carnal desire which wars against the soul;
12 Bi ka vu-tu mbi ndi zrehn bi, u, to-ba wa-nkoh u tre memme ni tu-mbi, ba-na feu na, nda kuma to ndi bi ti bi nda gbire-san Bachi ni vi u ye Ma.
having your deportment beautiful among the Gentiles: in order that in whatsoever they calumniate you as evil doers, seeing from your beautiful works, they may glorify God in the day of his visitation.
13 Wo-tre bi ninkon mbi nitu inde Irji. Wo ba ichu mbi,
Submit to every human creature for the sake of the Lord: whether to the king as supereminent,
14 ni bi ninkon ni gonati, babayi ba gbi-tohn bi ti memme nda gbire-san bi ti ndindi.
or to governors, as those having been sent out by him unto the condemnation of evil doers, and the praise of those doing good;
15 Irji soun naki, ndi nitu ti ndindi, bi ka nyu indi bi tre mkprah.
because thus it is the will of God, that doing good you should put to shame the ignorance of the ignorant people:
16 Na indi biwa ba sohn u tu-mba, na dun-wa mba yo yi ti memme na, bi ka ki na bi ti-ndu ni-koh Irji.
as free, and not as having the freedom as a cover of evil, but as servants of God.
17 Toh kpa-mbi ni-nfutu. Nji kpa-mbi bi. Klu sisri Irji. Toh ichu mbi ni-nfutu.
Honor all people; love the brotherhood with divine love; fear God; honor the king.
18 Mri koh, no ba tti'koh mbi ninkon. ti-ndu mbi bi ni tti'koh mbi bi ndindi, ni bi memme ba.
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all reverence; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
For this is grace, if, through the conscience of God, one bears sorrows and suffering unjustly.
20 Ahi-nge a bi ma toh wu ti memme ma ndi kpa memme'a?
For what glory is there, if, committing sin and being buffeted, you endure it? But if, doing good and suffering you endure it, this is grace with God.
21 A naki mba Irji yo yi, u Yesu ngame a ti-ya nitu mbi. A ti ki nda tsro yi-nkoh wa bi hu.
For unto this you have been called: because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you may follow in his steps:
22 Ana ti-kpe na, u nda na ti-che ko-mkpu ri na.
who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth,
23 Ba mmreu, u ana tre-kpe na. Ba nu-ya, u ana wa tsutsu na, A ka-ttu Ma noh dun ba vuu, u ana ti kpe na.
who, being reviled, reviled not again; suffering, he threatened not, but gave up to the one judging righteously:
24 Yesu ni kima a ban lla tre mbu ni-kpa ma hi ni grahn nkunkroh, dun ki na la sohn nitu lla-tre na, naki ki sohn ni-nkoh wa'abi. Nitu inkpah ma ki fe sikpa.
who himself has borne our sins in his own body on the wood, in order that we, being made free from sins, may live unto righteousness: by whose stripe you are healed.
25 U wawu mbi, bi si zren na ntma wa ba kado, u zizan bi kumaye nitu-nkohn u krju ntma'a uwa a hu ni suron mbi'a.
For you have wandered away like sheep; but you have now turned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
