রোমীয় 7
1 ভাইবোনেরা, বিধান সম্বন্ধে যাদের কিছুটা জ্ঞান আছে আমি তাদের বলছি, তোমরা কি জানো না যে যতদিন কোনো মানুষ জীবিত থাকে, বিধান ততদিনই তার উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করে?
Remember ye not brethren (I speake to them yt know the lawe) how that the lawe hath power over a man as longe as it endureth?
2 উদাহরণস্বরূপ, কোনো বিবাহিত নারী, যতদিন তার স্বামী জীবিত থাকে ততদিন সে তার সঙ্গে বিবাহের বাঁধনে যুক্ত থাকে; কিন্তু যদি তার স্বামী মারা যায়, সে বিবাহের বাঁধন থেকে মুক্ত হয়।
For the woman which is in subieccion to a man is bounde by the lawe to the man as longe as he liveth. Yf the man be deed she is lowsed from the lawe of the man.
3 সেই কারণে, তার স্বামী জীবিত থাকাকালীন সে যদি অপর পুরুষকে বিবাহ করে, সে ব্যভিচারিণীরূপে গণ্য হবে। কিন্তু যদি তার স্বামী মারা যায়, সে বিধান থেকে মুক্ত হয়। ফলে সে অপর পুরুষকে বিবাহ করলেও আর ব্যভিচারিণী হয় না।
So then yf whill the man liveth she couple her selfe with another man she shalbe counted a wedlocke breaker. But yf the man be deed she is fre fro the lawe: so that she is no wedlocke breaker though she couple her selfe with another man.
4 অতএব, আমার ভাইবোনেরা, তোমরাও খ্রীষ্টের শরীরের মাধ্যমে বিধানের কাছে মৃত্যুবরণ করেছ, যেন তোমরা অন্যের হও, যাঁকে মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত করা হয়েছিল, যেন আমরা ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে ফল উৎপন্ন করতে পারি।
Even so ye my brethren are deed concerninge the lawe by the body of Christ yt ye shuld be coupled to another (I meane to him that is rysen agayne fro deeth) that we shuld bringe forth frute vnto God.
5 কারণ, যখন আমরা পাপ-প্রকৃতি দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হতাম, তখন আমাদের শরীরে পাপপূর্ণ বাসনাগুলি বিধানের মাধ্যমে জাগৃত হয়ে সক্রিয় হত, যেন আমরা মৃত্যুর উদ্দেশে ফল উৎপন্ন করি।
For when we were in the flesshe the lustes of synne which were stered vppe by ye lawe raygned in oure membres to bringe forth frute vnto deeth.
6 কিন্তু এক সময় যে বিধান আমাদের আবদ্ধ করে রেখেছিল, এখন তার প্রতি মৃত্যুবরণ করার ফলে আমরা বিধানের বাঁধন থেকে মুক্ত হয়েছি, যেন আমরা লিখিত বিধানের পুরোনো পদ্ধতিতে নয়, কিন্তু পবিত্র আত্মার নতুন পথে ঈশ্বরের দাসত্ব করি।
But now are we delivered fro the lawe and deed fro that whervnto we werein bondage that we shuld serve in a newe conversacion of ye sprete and not in ye olde conversacion of the letter.
7 তাহলে, আমরা কী বলব? বিধানই কি পাপ? নিশ্চিতরূপে তা নয়! প্রকৃতপক্ষে বিধান না থাকলে পাপ কী, আমি তা জানতেই পারতাম না, কারণ বিধান যদি না বলত, “লোভ কোরো না,” তাহলে লোভ প্রকৃতপক্ষে কী, তা আমি জানতে পারতাম না।
What shall we saye then? is ye lawe synne? God forbid: but I knewe not what synne meant but by the lawe. For I had not knowne what lust had meant excepte the lawe had sayde thou shalt not lust.
8 কিন্তু পাপ, সেই বিধানের সুযোগ নিয়ে আমার মধ্যে সব ধরনের লোভের ইচ্ছাকে জাগিয়ে তুলল, কারণ বিধান ছাড়া পাপ মৃত।
But synne toke an occasion by the meanes of the commaundement and wrought in me all manner of concupiscece. For with out the lawe synne was deed.
9 এক সময় আমি বিধান ছাড়াই জীবিত ছিলাম, কিন্তু দশাজ্ঞা আসার পরে পাপ জীবিত হয়ে উঠল, আর আমার মৃত্যু হল।
I once lived with out lawe. But when the commaundement came synne revyved and I was deed.
10 আমি দেখলাম, যে আজ্ঞার জীবন নিয়ে আসার কথা ছিল, প্রকৃতপক্ষে তা মৃত্যু নিয়ে এল।
And the very same comaundement which was ordeyned vnto lyfe was founde to be vnto me an occasion of deeth.
11 কারণ আজ্ঞার সুযোগ নিয়ে পাপ আমার সঙ্গে প্রতারণা করল এবং আজ্ঞার মাধ্যমে আমাকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিল।
For synne toke occasion by the meanes of the comaundement and so disceaved me and by the selfe commaundement slewe we.
12 তাহলে বিধান পবিত্র, সেই আজ্ঞাও পবিত্র, ন্যায়সংগত ও কল্যাণকর।
Wherfore the lawe is holy and the commaundement holy iust and good.
13 তাহলে, যা কল্যাণকর, তাই কি আমার পক্ষে মৃত্যুজনক হয়ে উঠল? কোনোভাবেই নয়! কিন্তু পাপকে যেন পাপরূপেই চিনতে পারা যায়, তাই যা কল্যাণকর ছিল তারই মধ্য দিয়ে পাপ আমার মধ্যে মৃত্যু নিয়ে এল, যেন আজ্ঞার মাধ্যমে সেই পাপ চরম পাপময় হয়ে ওঠে।
Was that then which is good made deeth vnto me? God forbyd. Naye synne was deeth vnto me that it myght appere how that synne by the meanes of that which is good had wrought deeth in me: that synne which is vnder the commandemet myght be out of measure synfull.
14 আমরা জানি যে বিধান আত্মিক, কিন্তু আমি অনাত্মিক, পাপের কাছে ক্রীতদাসরূপে বিক্রীত।
For we knowe that the lawe is spirituall: but I am carnall solde vnder synne
15 আমি যা করি, তা আমি বুঝি না, কারণ আমি যা করতে চাই, তা আমি করি না, কিন্তু যা আমি ঘৃণা করি, আমি তাই করি।
because I wote not what I doo. For what I wold that do I not: but what I hate that do I.
16 আবার আমি যা করতে চাই না, যদি তাই করি, তাহলে আমি মেনে নিই যে বিধান উৎকৃষ্ট।
Yf I do now that which I wolde not I graute to the lawe that it is good.
17 তাই যদি হয়, আমি আর নিজে থেকে এ কাজ করি না, কিন্তু আমার মধ্যে যে পাপ বাস করে তাই করে।
So then nowe it is not I that do it but synne that dwelleth in me.
18 আমি জানি যে আমার মধ্যে, অর্থাৎ আমার পাপময় প্রকৃতির মধ্যে ভালো কিছুই বাস করে না। কারণ যা কিছু কল্যাণকর, তা করার ইচ্ছা আমার আছে, কিন্তু আমি তা করে উঠতে পারি না।
For I knowe that in me (that is to saye in my flesshe) dwelleth no good thinge. To will is present with me: but I fynde no meanes to performe that which is good.
19 কারণ আমি যা করতে চাই, সেই ভালো কাজ আমি করি না, কিন্তু যে দুষ্কর্ম আমি করতে চাই না, তা ক্রমাগত করেই যাই।
For I doo not yt good thinge which I wold: but that evill do I which I wolde not.
20 এখন, যা আমি করতে চাই না তা যদি আমি করি, সে কাজটি আর আমি নিজে করি না, কিন্তু আমার মধ্যে বাস করা পাপ-ই তা করে।
Finally yf I do that I wolde not then is it not I that doo it but synne that dwelleth in me doeth it.
21 তাই আমি এই নিয়ম সক্রিয় দেখতে পাচ্ছি: যখন আমি সৎকর্ম করতে চাই, তখনই মন্দ আমার সঙ্গী হয়।
I fynde then by the lawe that when I wolde do good evyll is present with me.
22 কারণ আমার আন্তরিক সত্তায় আমি ঈশ্বরের বিধানে আনন্দ করি,
I delite in the lawe of God concerninge the inner man.
23 কিন্তু আমার শরীরের অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গে অন্য এক বিধান কার্যকরী দেখতে পাই; তা আমার মনের বিধানের সঙ্গে সংগ্রাম করে চলে এবং পাপের যে বিধান আমার অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গে আছে, আমাকে তার বন্দি করে রাখে।
But I se another lawe in my membres rebellinge agaynst the lawe of my mynde and subduynge me vnto the lawe of synne which is in my membres.
24 কী দুর্ভাগ্যপূর্ণ মানুষ আমি! মৃত্যুর এই শরীর থেকে কে আমাকে উদ্ধার করবে?
O wretched man yt I am: who shall delyver me fro this body of deeth?
25 আমাদের প্রভু, খ্রীষ্ট যীশুর মাধ্যমে আমি ঈশ্বরকে ধন্যবাদ দিই। সুতরাং, মনে মনে আমি ঈশ্বরের বিধানের ক্রীতদাস, কিন্তু পাপময় প্রকৃতিতে পাপের বিধানের দাসত্ব করি।
I thanke God thorow Iesus Christ oure Lorde. So then I my silfe in my mynde serve the lawe of God and in my flesshe the lawe of synne.
