1 পঞ্চম স্বর্গদূত তাঁর তূরী বাজালেন, আর আমি দেখলাম আকাশ থেকে একটি তারা পৃথিবীতে খসে পড়ল। সেই তারাটিকে অতল-গহ্বরের সুড়ঙ্গপথের চাবি দেওয়া হল। (Abyssos g12)
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fallen out of heaven to the earth, and to him was given the key of the pit of the abyss; (Abyssos g12)
2 যখন সে অতল-গহ্বরের সুড়ঙ্গপথটি খুলল, তার মধ্যে থেকে বিশাল চুল্লির ধোঁয়ার মতো একটি ধোঁয়া উঠতে লাগল। অতল-গহ্বরের সেই ধোঁয়ায় সূর্য ও চাঁদ অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন হয়ে গেল। (Abyssos g12)
and he opened the pit of the abyss. And there went up a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. (Abyssos g12)
3 আর সেই ধোঁয়ার মধ্য থেকে পঙ্গপাল বের হয়ে পৃথিবীতে নেমে এল। তাদেরকে পৃথিবীর কাঁকড়াবিছেদের মতোই ক্ষমতা দেওয়া হল।
And out of the smoke went forth locusts upon the earth, and to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power;
4 তাদের বলা হল, তারা যেন পৃথিবীর কোনো ঘাস বা গাছপালা বা গাছের ক্ষতি না করে, কিন্তু সেইসব মানুষের ক্ষতি করে, যাদের কপালে ঈশ্বরের সিলমোহর নেই।
and it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only those men who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads;
5 তাদের হত্যা করার অনুমতি দেওয়া হয়নি, কিন্তু পাঁচ মাস ধরে অত্যাচার করার ক্ষমতা দেওয়া হল। আর তারা সেরকম যন্ত্রণাভোগ করল, যেমন কাঁকড়াবিছে কোনো মানুষকে হুল ফোটালে যন্ত্রণা হয়।
and it was given to them that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months; and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when it hath struck a man.
6 ওই দিনগুলিতে মানুষ মৃত্যুর সন্ধান করবে, কিন্তু তার সন্ধান পাবে না। তারা আকুল হয়ে মৃত্যুবরণ করতে চাইবে, কিন্তু মৃত্যু তাদের নাগাল এড়িয়ে যাবে।
And in those days men will seek death, and shall not find it; and will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 সেই পঙ্গপালগুলি দেখতে ছিল রণসাজে সজ্জিত ঘোড়ার মতো। তাদের মাথায় ছিল সোনার মুকুটের মতো দেখতে কিছু এক জিনিস এবং তাদের মুখমণ্ডল দেখতে ছিল মানুষের মুখমণ্ডলের মতো।
And the shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men;
8 তাদের চুল ছিল নারীর চুলের মতো এবং দাঁত ছিল সিংহের দাঁতের মতো।
and they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9 তাদের বুকের পাটা ছিল লোহার বুকের পাটার মতো এবং তাদের ডানার আওয়াজ ছিল যুদ্ধে চলেছে এমন অনেক ঘোড়া ও রথের গুরুগম্ভীর শব্দের মতো।
And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
10 কাঁকড়াবিছের মতো ছিল তাদের লেজ ও হুল। পাঁচ মাস ধরে মানুষকে যন্ত্রণা দেওয়ার ক্ষমতা তাদের ওই লেজে ছিল,
And they have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men five months.
11 অতল-গহ্বরের এক দূত ছিল তাদের রাজা। হিব্রু ভাষায় তার নাম আবদ্দোন ও গ্রিক ভাষায়, আপল্লিয়োন। (Abyssos g12)
They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek he hath for his name Apollyon. (Abyssos g12)
12 প্রথম দুর্দশার অন্ত হল; আরও বাকি দুই দুর্দশার সময় ছিল সন্নিকট।
The first woe is past; behold, two woes more are yet to come.
13 ষষ্ঠ দূত তাঁর তূরী বাজালেন, আর আমি ঈশ্বরের সামনে স্থিত সোনার বেদির শৃঙ্গগুলি থেকে এক বাণী শুনতে পেলাম।
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice out of the four horns of the golden altar, which is before God,
14 তা তূরীধারী সেই ষষ্ঠ স্বর্গদূতকে বলছিল, “ইউফ্রেটিস মহানদীর কাছে যে চারজন দূত রুদ্ধ আছে, তাদের মুক্ত করে দাও।”
saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, Loose the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.
15 তখন যে চারজন দূতকে সেই ক্ষণ ও দিন ও মাস ও বছরের জন্য প্রস্তুত রাখা হয়েছিল, তাদের মুক্ত করা হল, যেন তারা মানবজাতির এক-তৃতীয়াংশকে হত্যা করতে পারে।
And the four angels were loosed, who were in readiness for the hour, and day, and month, and year, to slay the third part of men.
16 আর অশ্বারোহী ওই সৈন্যের সংখ্যা ছিল কুড়ি কোটি। আমি তাদের সংখ্যা শুনলাম।
And the number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred thousand thousand; I heard the number of them.
17 আমি আমার দর্শনে যেসব ঘোড়া ও তাদের আরোহীদের দেখতে পেলাম, তারা দেখতে ছিল এরকম: তাদের বুকের পাটা ছিল আগুনে-লাল, ঘন নীল ও গন্ধকের মতো হলুদ রংয়ের। ঘোড়াগুলির মাথা ছিল সিংহের মাথার মতো এবং তাদের মুখ দিয়ে বের হচ্ছিল আগুন, ধোঁয়া ও গন্ধক।
And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of a fiery, and a dark blue, and a brimstone color; and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions, and out of their mouths issued fire, and smoke, and brimstone.
18 তাদের মুখ থেকে বের হওয়া সেই তিন মহামারি, আগুন, ধোঁয়া ও গন্ধকের দ্বারা মানবজাতির এক-তৃতীয়াংশ নিহত হল।
By these three plagues was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and the smoke, and the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
19 ঘোড়াগুলির ক্ষমতা ছিল তাদের মুখে ও তাদের লেজে; কারণ তাদের লেজে সাপের মতো মাথা ছিল, যার দ্বারা তারা মানুষের ক্ষতি করতে পারত।
For the power of the horses is in their mouth, and in their tails; for their tails are like to serpents, having heads; and with them they do hurt.
20 মানবজাতির অবশিষ্ট লোক, যারা এই সমস্ত মহামারির দ্বারা নিহত হল না, তারা তখনও তাদের হাত দিয়ে করা কাজ থেকে মন পরিবর্তন করল না; তারা ভূতদের পূজা এবং সোনা, রুপো, পিতল, পাথর ও কাঠ দ্বারা নির্মিত বিভিন্ন প্রতিমা—যে প্রতিমারা দেখতে বা শুনতে বা চলতে পারে না, তাদের পূজা করা থেকে বিরত থাকল না।
And the rest of men, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can neither see; nor hear, nor walk;
21 এছাড়াও তারা তাদের নরহত্যা, তাদের তন্ত্রমন্ত্র-মায়াবিদ্যা, তাদের অবৈধ যৌনাচার, কিংবা তাদের চুরি করা থেকেও মন পরিবর্তন করল না।
and they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
