1 এরপরে আমি অন্য এক দূতকে স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে আসতে দেখলাম। তিনি ছিলেন মহা কর্তৃত্বসম্পন্ন, পৃথিবী তাঁর প্রতাপে আলোকিত হয়ে উঠল।
After these things I saw another angel coming down from Heaven, armed with great power. The earth shone with his splendor,
2 তিনি প্রবল রবে চিৎকার করে বললেন, “‘পতন হল! বিশাল সেই ব্যাবিলনের পতন হল!’ সে হয়ে উঠেছিল ভূতপ্রেতদের গৃহ, সমস্ত মন্দ-আত্মার লুকোনোর স্থান, প্রত্যেক অশুচি পাখির এক আস্তানা। প্রত্যেক অশুচি ও ঘৃণ্য পশুর এক আস্তানা।
and with a mighty voice he cried out, saying, "Great Babylon has fallen, has fallen, and has become a home for demons and a stronghold for every kind of foul spirit and for every kind of foul and hateful bird.
3 কারণ সমস্ত জাতি তার ব্যভিচারের উন্মত্তকারী সুরা পান করেছে। পৃথিবীর রাজারা তার সঙ্গে ব্যভিচার করেছে, আবার পৃথিবীর বণিকেরা তার বিলাসিতার প্রাচুর্যে ধনবান হয়েছে।”
For all the nations have drunk the wine of the anger provoked by her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through her excessive luxury."
4 তারপর আমি স্বর্গ থেকে শুনলাম অন্য এক কণ্ঠস্বর: “‘আমার প্রজারা, ওর মধ্য থেকে বের হয়ে এসো,’ যেন তোমরা তার পাপসকলের অংশীদার না হও, যেন তার কোনো বিপর্যয় তোমাদের প্রতি না ঘটে;
Then I heard another voice from Heaven, which said, "Come out of her, My people, that you may not become partakers in her sins, nor receive a share of her plagues.
5 কারণ তার সব পাপ আকাশ পর্যন্ত স্তূপীকৃত হয়েছে; আর ঈশ্বর তার সব অপরাধ স্মরণ করেছেন।
For her sins are piled up to the sky, and God has called to mind her unrighteous deeds.
6 সে যেমন করেছে, তার প্রতি ফিরে সেরকমই করো; তার কৃতকর্মের দ্বিগুণ প্রতিফল তাকে দাও। তার নিজের পানপাত্রেই তার জন্য দ্বিগুণ পানীয় মিশ্রিত করো।
Give back to her as she has given; repay her in accordance with her doings, twice as much; in the bowl that she has mixed, mix twice as much for her.
7 সে যত আত্মগরিমা ও বিলাসিতা করত, সেই পরিমাণে তাকে যন্ত্রণা ও কষ্ট দাও। সে তার মনে মনে দম্ভ করে, ‘আমি রানির মতো উপবিষ্ট, আমি বিধবা নই, আর আমি কখনও শোকবিলাপ করব না।’
She has freely glorified herself and revelled in luxury; equally freely administer torment to her, and woe. For in her heart she boasts, saying, 'I sit enthroned as Queen: no widow am I: I shall never know sorrow.'
8 এই কারণে একদিনেই তার সমস্ত বিপর্যয়, মৃত্যু, শোকবিলাপ ও দুর্ভিক্ষ, তার উপরে এসে পড়বে। আগুন তাকে গ্রাস করবে, কারণ তার বিচারকর্তা প্রভু ঈশ্বর, শক্তিমান।
"For this reason calamities shall come thick upon her on a single day--death and sorrow and famine--and she shall be burned to the ground. For strong is the Lord God who has judged her.
9 “যখন পৃথিবীর রাজারা, যারা তার সঙ্গে ব্যভিচার করেছিল ও তার বিলাসিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করেছিল, তারা তার দাহ হওয়ার ধোঁয়া দেখবে, তারা তার জন্য কাঁদবে ও শোকবিলাপ করবে।
The kings of the earth who have committed fornication with her, and have revelled in luxury, shall weep aloud and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning,
10 তার যন্ত্রণাভোগে আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হয়ে তারা দূরে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকবে ও আর্তনাদ করে বলবে, “‘হায়! হায় সেই মহানগরী, ও ব্যাবিলন, পরাক্রান্ত নগরী! এক ঘণ্টার মধ্যেই তোমার সর্বনাশ উপস্থিত হল।’
while they stand afar off because of their terror at her heavy punishment, and say, 'Alas, alas, thou great city, O Babylon, the mighty city! For in one short hour thy doom has come!'
11 “পৃথিবীর বণিকেরা তার জন্য কাঁদবে ও বিলাপ করবে, কারণ কেউই আর তাদের বাণিজ্যিক পণ্যসামগ্রী কিনবে না।
And the merchants of the earth weep aloud and lament over her, because now there is no sale for their cargoes--
12 সেই বাণিজ্যিক পণ্যসামগ্রী হল সোনা, রুপো, মণিমাণিক্য ও মুক্তো; মিহি মসিনা, বেগুনি, সিল্ক ও লাল রংয়ের পোশাক; সব ধরনের চন্দনকাঠ ও হাতির দাঁত, মূল্যবান কাঠ, পিতল, লোহা ও মার্বেল পাথরের তৈরি সমস্ত ধরনের দ্রব্য;
cargoes of gold and silver, of jewels and pearls, of fine linen, purple and silk, and of scarlet stuff; all kinds of rare woods, and all kinds of goods in ivory and in very costly wood, in bronze, steel and marble.
13 দারচিনি ও মশলা, সুগন্ধি ধূপ, কুন্দুরু ও গন্ধরস, সুরা ও জলপাই তেল, সূক্ষ্ম ময়দা ও গম, গবাদি পশুপাল ও মেষ, ঘোড়া ও রথ, ক্রীতদাস ও মানুষের প্রাণ।
Also cinnamon and amomum; odors to burn as incense or for perfume; frankincense, wine, oil; fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep; horses and carriages and slaves; and the lives of men.
14 “আর তারা বলবে, ‘যে ফলের তুমি আকাঙ্ক্ষা করতে, তা তোমার হাতছাড়া হয়ে গেছে। তোমার সমস্ত ঐশ্বর্য ও সমারোহ তোমার নাগালের বাইরে, আর কখনও সেসব ফিরে পাওয়া যাবে না।’
The dainties that thy soul longed for are gone from thee, and all thine elegance and splendor have perished, and never again shall they be found.
15 যে বণিকেরা এই সমস্ত পণ্য বিক্রি করত ও তার কাছ থেকে তাদের ঐশ্বর্য লাভ করত, তারা তার যন্ত্রণায় আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হয়ে দূরে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকবে। তারা কাঁদবে ও হাহাকার করবে
Those who traded in these things, who grew wealthy through her, will stand afar off, struck with terror at her punishment,
16 এবং চিৎকার করে বলে উঠবে, “‘হায়! হায়! সেই মহানগরী, সে মিহি মসিনা, বেগুনি ও লাল রংয়ের পোশাকে সজ্জিত ছিল, সে সজ্জিত ছিল সোনা, মণিমাণিক্য ও মুক্তায়!
weeping aloud and sorrowing, and saying, 'Alas, alas, for this great city, which was brilliantly arrayed in fine linen, and purple and scarlet stuff, and beautified with gold, jewels and pearls;
17 এক ঘণ্টায় এই বিপুল ঐশ্বর্য ধ্বংস হয়ে গেল!’ “আর সমুদ্রের প্রত্যেক দলপতি, যারা জলপথে যাত্রা করে, নাবিকের দল ও সমুদ্র থেকে যারা তাদের জীবিকা অর্জন করে, তারা সবাই দূরে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকবে।
because in one short hour all this great wealth has been laid waste!' And every shipmaster and every passenger by sea and the crews and all who ply their trade on the sea,
18 তারা যখন তার দাহ হওয়ার ধোঁয়া দেখবে, তারা চিৎকার করে বলবে, ‘এই মহানগরীর সমতুল্য আর কোনও নগর কি ছিল?’
stood afar off, and cried aloud when they saw the smoke of her burning. And they said, 'What city is like this great city?'
19 তারা তাদের মাথায় ধুলো ছড়াবে, কাঁদতে কাঁদতে ও বিলাপ করতে করতে হাহাকার করে বলবে: “হায়! হায়! হে মহানগরী, তারা কোথায়, যাদের জাহাজ সমুদ্রে ছিল, যারা তার ঐশ্বর্যের দ্বারা সমৃদ্ধ হয়েছিল! এক ঘণ্টার মধ্যে তাকে ধ্বংস করা হল!
And they threw dust upon their heads, and cried out, weeping aloud and sorrowing. 'Alas, alas,' they said, 'for this great city, in which, through her vast wealth, the owners of all the ships on the sea have grown rich; because in one short hour she has been laid waste!'
20 “হে স্বর্গ, তার এ দশায় উল্লসিত হও! পবিত্রগণেরা ও প্রেরিতশিষ্যেরা এবং সব ভাববাদী, তোমরা আনন্দ করো! কারণ সে তোমাদের প্রতি যে রকম আচরণ করেছে, ঈশ্বর তেমনই তার বিচার করেছেন।”
Rejoice over her, O Heaven, and you saints and Apostles and Prophets; for God has taken vengeance upon her because of you."
21 পরে এক শক্তিমান স্বর্গদূত বড়ো জাঁতার মতো বিশাল এক পাথর তুলে সমুদ্রে নিক্ষেপ করলেন ও বললেন: “এ ধরনের কঠোরতার সঙ্গে মহানগরী ব্যাবিলনকে নিক্ষিপ্ত করা হবে, তার সন্ধান আর কখনও পাওয়া যাবে না।
Then a single angel of great strength took a stone which resembled a huge millstone, and hurled it into the sea, saying, "So shall Babylon, that great city, be violently hurled down and never again be found.
22 বীণাবাদক ও সংগীতজ্ঞদের গানবাজনা, বাঁশি-বাদক ও তূরীবাদকদের ধ্বনি, আর শোনা যাবে না। কোনও বাণিজ্যের কোনো শ্রমিককে আর তোমার মধ্যে পাওয়া যাবে না, কোনো জাঁতার শব্দ আর কখনও তোমার মধ্যে শোনা যাবে না।
No harp or song, no flute or trumpet, shall ever again be heard in thee; no craftsman of any kind shall ever again be found in thee; nor shall the grinding of the mill ever again be heard in thee.
23 প্রদীপের শিখা তোমার মধ্যে আর কখনও আলো জ্বালাবে না। বর ও কনের রব আর কখনও তোমার মধ্যে শোনা যাবে না। তোমার বণিকেরা ছিল জগতের সব মহৎ ব্যক্তি। তোমার তন্ত্রমন্ত্রের মায়ায় সব জাতি বিপথে চালিত হয়েছিল।
Never again shall the light of a lamp shine in thee, and never again shall the voice of a bridegroom or of a bride be heard in thee. For thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and with the magic which thou didst practise all nations were led astray.
24 তার মধ্যে পাওয়া গিয়েছে ভাববাদীদের ও পবিত্রগণের এবং যতজন পৃথিবীতে নিহত হয়েছে, তাদের সকলের রক্ত।”
And in her was found the blood of Prophets and of God's people and of all who had been put to death on the earth."
