1 আর সেই নাগ-দানব সমুদ্রের তীরে গিয়ে দাঁড়াল। আর আমি দেখলাম, একটি পশু সমুদ্রের মধ্য থেকে উঠে আসছে। তার ছিল দশটি শিং ও সাতটি মাথা এবং তার শিংগুলির উপরে দশটি মুকুট। আর প্রত্যেকটি মাথার উপরে ছিল একটি করে ঈশ্বর নিন্দাসূচক নাম।
Then I saw rising up out of the sea a beast who had ten horns and seven heads. On his horns he had ten diadems, and on his heads blasphemous titles.
2 যে পশুটি আমি দেখলাম, সেটি দেখতে চিতাবাঘের মতো, কিন্তু তার পা ছিল ভালুকের মতো এবং মুখ ছিল সিংহের মতো। সেই নাগ তার পরাক্রম ও তার সিংহাসন ও মহা কর্তৃত্ব সেই দানব পশুটিকে দান করল।
The beast I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were bear’s feet, and his mouth a lion’s mouth. The dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority.
3 সেই পশুর একটি মাথা মনে হল যেন মারাত্মক আঘাতে আহত, কিন্তু সেই মারাত্মক আঘাতের নিরাময় করা হল। এতে সমস্ত জগৎ বিস্মিত হয়ে সেই পশুকে অনুসরণ করল।
And I saw that one of his heads seemed to have been mortally wounded, but its deadly wound had been healed. The whole earth was following the beast, wondering.
4 লোকেরা সেই নাগ-দানবের পূজা করল, কারণ সে সেই পশুকে কর্তৃত্ব প্রদান করেছিল। আর তারা সেই পশুটিরও পূজা করে বলতে লাগল, “এই পশুর সমতুল্য কে? কে এর বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করতে পারে?”
Men worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying. "Who is like the beast? Who can fight with him?"
5 সেই পশুটিকে এমন এক মুখ দেওয়া হল, যা বহু দম্ভের বাক্য ও ঈশ্বরনিন্দার উক্তি করবে এবং বিয়াল্লিশ মাস পর্যন্ত তার কর্তৃত্ব প্রয়োগ করবে।
And he was permitted to utter loud boasts and blasphemies; and there was given to him authority to continue forty-two months.
6 সে তার মুখ খুলে ঈশ্বরের নিন্দা, তাঁর নাম, তাঁর আবাসস্থল ও স্বর্গবাসী সকলের নিন্দা করতে লাগল।
So he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name and his tabernacle (those who live in his tabernacle in heaven).
7 তাকে পবিত্রগণের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে ও তাদের পরাস্ত করার ক্ষমতা দেওয়া হল। আর সমস্ত গোষ্ঠী, জাতি, ভাষাভাষী ও দেশের উপরে তাকে কর্তৃত্ব দেওয়া হল।
The beast was allowed to wage war upon the saints, and to conquer them; and there was given him authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation;
8 এতে পৃথিবীর সমস্ত অধিবাসী সেই পশুর পূজা করবে। তাদের নাম জগৎ সৃষ্টির লগ্ন থেকে মেষশাবকের জীবনপুস্তকে লিখিত নেই।
and each one whose name has not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who has been slain from the foundation of the world. All who dwell on the earth shall worship him.
9 যার কান আছে, সে শুনুক।
Let him who has ears to hear, listen.
10 যদি কেউ বন্দি হওয়ার জন্য নির্ধারিত, সে বন্দি হবে। যদি কেউ তরোয়ালের দ্বারা হত হওয়ার জন্য নির্ধারিত, সে তরোয়ালের দ্বারা হত হবে। এর অর্থ, পবিত্রজনেরা ধৈর্যের সঙ্গে নিপীড়ন সহ্য করবে ও বিশ্বস্ত থাকবে।
Whoever is destined to go into captivity, goes into captivity. Whoever shall kill with the sword, shall surely be killed by the sword. (Here is the endurance and faith of the saints.)
11 তারপর আমি অন্য একটি পশু দেখলাম, সে পৃথিবীর গর্ভ থেকে উঠে এল। তার ছিল মেষশাবকের মতো দুটি শিং, কিন্তু সে দানবের মতো কথা বলত।
And I saw another beast ascending from the land; and he had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon;
12 সে ওই প্রথম পশুটির পক্ষে তার সমস্ত কর্তৃত্ব প্রয়োগ করল এবং যার মারাত্মক ক্ষত নিরাময় করা হয়েছিল, সেই প্রথম পশুটির পূজা করতে পৃথিবী ও তার অধিবাসীদের বাধ্য করল।
and he exerts the full authority of the first beast before him, and he makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast whose death-stroke was healed.
13 আর সে মহা অলৌকিক চিহ্নকাজ করতে লাগল, এমনকি, লোকদের চোখের সামনে মহাকাশ থেকে পৃথিবীতে আগুন নামিয়ে আনল।
And he performs great miracles, so that he even causes fire to come down to the earth from the sky, before men’s eyes.
14 এভাবে প্রথম পশুর সামনে যেসব চিহ্নকাজ করার ক্ষমতা তাকে দেওয়া হয়েছিল তা দিয়ে সে পৃথিবীবাসীদের প্রতারণা করল। সেই পশুর সম্মানে সে তাদের একটি প্রতিমা স্থাপন করার আদেশ দিল; যে পশুকে তরোয়ালের দ্বারা আঘাত করলেও সে জীবিত ছিল।
And he deceives those who dwell on the earth, because of the miracles, which he is permitted to perform in the sight of the beast. He tells those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the sword-stroke, yet lived.
15 তাকে ক্ষমতা দেওয়া হল যেন সে প্রথম পশুটির প্রতিমায় প্রাণবায়ু দিতে পারে ও সেই প্রতিমা কথা বলতে পারে। তখন সেই পশুর প্রতিমা আদেশ দিল যে, যারাই তাকে পূজা করতে অস্বীকার করে তাদের হত্যা করা হয়।
And he was permitted to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast should speak; and so that any one who would not worship the image of the beast should be put to death.
16 আর, সামান্য ও মহান, ধনী ও দরিদ্র, স্বাধীন ও ক্রীতদাস নির্বিশেষে সকলকে সে বাধ্য করল, যেন তারা তাদের ডান হাতে বা কপালে একটি ছাপ গ্রহণ করে,
And he makes all men, low and high, rich and poor, freemen and slaves, to have a brand put upon their right hands or upon their brows,
17 যেন ওই ছাপ না থাকলে, কেউ কেনাবেচা করতে না পারে। সেই ছাপ ছিল ওই পশুর নাম বা তার নামের সংখ্যা।
so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the brand of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 এতে প্রজ্ঞার প্রয়োজন হয়। যদি কারও অন্তর্দৃষ্টি থাকে, সে ওই পশুর সংখ্যা গুনে নিক, কারণ তা ছিল মানুষের সংখ্যা। সেই সংখ্যাটি হল 666।
Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man; and his number is 666.
