গীতসংহিতা 127

1 একটি আরোহণ সংগীত। শলোমনের গীত। যদি সদাপ্রভু গৃহ নির্মাণ না করেন, তবে নির্মাতারা বৃথাই পরিশ্রম করে। যদি সদাপ্রভু নগর রক্ষা না করেন, তবে নগররক্ষীরা বৃথাই রাতে জেগে থাকে।

2 বৃথাই তোমরা খুব সকালে ওঠো আর অনেক রাত পর্যন্ত জেগে থাকো, অন্ন-সংস্থানের জন্য পরিশ্রম করো— কারণ তিনি যাদের ভালোবাসেন তাদের চোখে ঘুম দেন।

Vanity [belongs] to you - [who] rise early to rise [who] delay to sit [who] eat [the] bread of labors thus he gives to beloved [one] his sleep.

3 সন্তানসন্ততি সদাপ্রভুর দেওয়া অধিকার, তাঁর দেওয়া পুরস্কার।

Here! [the] inheritance of Yahweh [is] sons [is] a reward [the] fruit of the womb.

4 যেমন বীরযোদ্ধার হাতে তির তেমনি যৌবনে জাত সন্তানসন্ততি।

Like arrows in [the] hand of a warrior so [are] [the] sons of youth.

5 ধন্য সেই ব্যক্তি যার তূণ সেইরকম তিরে পূর্ণ, তারা লজ্জিত হবে না যখন তারা নগরদ্বারে বিপক্ষদের সঙ্গে বিরোধ করে।
