1 একটি আরোহণ সংগীত। দাউদের গীত। সদাপ্রভু যদি আমাদের পক্ষে না থাকতেন— সমগ্র ইস্রায়েল বলুক—

A Song of Degrees. If it had not been that the Lord was amongst us, let Israel now say;

2 সদাপ্রভু যদি আমাদের পক্ষে না থাকতেন, যখন লোকেরা আমাদের আক্রমণ করেছিল,

if it had not been that the Lord was amongst us, when men rose up against us;

3 যখন তাদের ক্রোধ আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে জ্বলে উঠেছিল, তখন হয়তো তারা আমাদের জীবন্তই গ্রাস করে ফেলত;

verily they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 বন্যার জলরাশি হয়তো চারিদিক প্লাবিত করত, জলস্রোত হয়তো আমাদের উপর দিয়ে বয়ে যেত,

verily the water would have drowned us, our soul would have gone under the torrent.

5 উত্তাল জলরাশি হয়তো ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে যেত আমাদের।

Yes, our soul would have gone under the overwhelming water.

6 সদাপ্রভুর ধন্যবাদ হোক, তিনি তাদের দাঁতের আঘাতে আমাদের ছিন্নভিন্ন হতে দেননি।

Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us for a prey to their teeth.

7 আমরা পাখির মতো পালিয়েছি শিকারির ফাঁদ থেকে; ফাঁদ ছিন্ন করা হয়েছে, এবং আমরা পালিয়েছি।

Our soul has been delivered as a sparrow from the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are delivered.

8 সদাপ্রভু, যিনি স্বর্গ ও পৃথিবীর সৃষ্টিকর্তা আমাদের সাহায্য তাঁর কাছ থেকে আসে।

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
