গীতসংহিতা 120

1 একটি আরোহণ সংগীত। আমি সংকটকালে সদাপ্রভুকে ডাকলাম, আর তিনি আমার ডাকে সাড়া দিলেন।

“A song of the degrees.” Unto the Lord, when I was in distress, did I call, and he hath answered me.

2 হে সদাপ্রভু, মিথ্যাবাদী মুখ, ও ধাপ্পাবাজ জিভের কবল থেকে আমাকে রক্ষা করো।

O Lord, deliver my soul from lips of falsehood, and from a tongue of deceit.

3 ধাপ্পাবাজ মুখ, ঈশ্বর তোমার প্রতি কী করবেন? তিনি কেমনভাবে তোমার শাস্তি বৃদ্ধি করবেন?

What will [God] give unto thee? or what will he add unto thee, thou tongue of deceit?

4 যোদ্ধার ধারালো তিরের আঘাতে তুমি বিদ্ধ হবে, আর জ্বলন্ত কয়লায় তুমি দগ্ধ হবে।

Sharpened arrows of the mighty, with coals of the broom-bush.

5 হায় কী দুর্দশা আমার, আমি মেশকে বসবাস করছি, কেদরের তাঁবুর মধ্যে আমি বসবাস করছি।

Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

6 যারা শান্তি ঘৃণা করে, তাদের মাঝে আমি বহুকাল বসবাস করেছি।

Too long for herself hath my soul dwelt with him that hateth peace.

7 আমি শান্তির পক্ষে; কিন্তু আমি যখন কথা বলি, ওরা তখন যুদ্ধ চায়।

I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
