গীতসংহিতা 1

1 ধন্য সেই ব্যক্তি যে দুষ্টদের মন্ত্রণায় চলে না পাপীদের পথে দাঁড়ায় না, নিন্দুকদের আসরে বসে না,

BOOK I HAPPY IS the man that hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of the scornful.

2 কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুর বিধানে আমোদ করে, তাঁর বিধান দিনরাত ধ্যান করে।

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

3 সেই ব্যক্তি জলস্রোতের তীরে লাগানো গাছের মতো, যা যথাসময়ে ফল দেয়, এবং যার পাতা শুকিয়ে যায় না, সে যা কিছু করে তাতে উন্নতি লাভ করে।

And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf doth not wither; and in whatsoever he doeth he shall prosper.

4 কিন্তু দুষ্টরা সেরকম নয়! তারা তুষের মতো যা বাতাস উড়িয়ে নিয়ে যায়।

Not so the wicked; but they are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 তাই বিচারদিনে দুষ্টরা দাঁড়াতে পারবে না, পাপীরাও ধার্মিকদের সমাবেশে স্থান পাবে না।

Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 সদাপ্রভু ধার্মিকদের পথে দৃষ্টি রাখেন, কিন্তু দুষ্টদের সকল পথ ধ্বংসের দিকে যায়।

For the LORD regardeth the way of the righteous; but the way of the wicked shall perish.
