হিতোপদেশ 1
1 দাউদের ছেলে, ইস্রায়েলের রাজা শলোমনের হিতোপদেশ:
The proverbs of Solomon [Peaceable, Recompense], the son of David [Beloved], king of Israel [God prevails]:
2 প্রজ্ঞা ও শিক্ষা অর্জনের জন্য; অন্তর্দৃষ্টিমূলক কথা বোঝার জন্য;
to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
3 বিচক্ষণ ব্যবহারের সম্বন্ধে শিক্ষালাভের জন্য, যা কিছু যথার্থ, ন্যায্য ও সুন্দর, তা করার জন্য;
to receive instruction in wisdom, in righteousness, mishpat ·justice·, and equity;
4 অনভিজ্ঞ মানুষদের দূরদর্শিতা, অল্পবয়স্কদের জ্ঞান ও বিচক্ষণতা দানের জন্য—
to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man:
5 জ্ঞানবানেরা শুনুক ও তাদের জ্ঞান বৃদ্ধি হোক, এবং বিচক্ষণেরা পথনির্দেশনা লাভ করুক—
that the wise man may sh'ma ·hear obey·, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel:
6 যেন তারা নীতিবচন ও দৃষ্টান্ত, জ্ঞানবানদের বাণী ও হেঁয়ালি বুঝতে পারে।
to understand a proverb, and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
7 সদাপ্রভুর ভয় প্রজ্ঞার আরম্ভ, কিন্তু মূর্খেরা প্রজ্ঞা ও শিক্ষা তুচ্ছ করে।
The fear of Adonai is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
8 হে আমার বাছা, তোমার বাবার উপদেশ শোনো, আর তোমার মায়ের শিক্ষা ত্যাগ কোরো না।
My son, sh'ma ·hear obey· your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching:
9 এগুলি এক ফুলমালা হয়ে তোমার মাথার শোভা বাড়াবে ও এক হার হয়ে তোমার গলাকে সাজিয়ে তুলবে।
for they will be a garland to chen ·grace· your head, and chains around your neck.
10 হে আমার বাছা, পাপীরা যদি তোমাকে প্রলুব্ধ করে, তুমি তাদের কথায় সম্মত হোয়ো না।
My son, if people who sin ·intentionally miss the mark goal· entice you, don’t consent.
11 তারা যদি বলে, “আমাদের সঙ্গে এসো; নির্দোষের রক্তপাত করার জন্য আমরা ওৎ পেতে থাকি, কয়েকটি নিরীহ মানুষকে মারার জন্য ঘাপটি মেরে থাকি;
If they say, “Come with us, Let’s lay in wait for blood; let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
12 কবরের মতো আমরা ওদের জীবন্ত গ্রাস করি, ও মৃত্যুর খাদে পড়া মানুষের মতো তাদের পুরোপুরি গ্রাস করি; (Sheol h7585)
let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol ·Place of the dead·, and whole, like those who go down into the pit (of Abbadon, the unrighteous side of Sheol). (Sheol h7585)
13 আমরা সব ধরনের মূল্যবান সামগ্রী পাব ও লুন্ঠিত দ্রব্যে আমাদের বাড়িগুলি ভরিয়ে তুলব;
We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.
14 আমাদের সঙ্গে গুটিকাপাতের দান চালো; আমরা সবাই লুটের অর্থ ভাগাভাগি করে নেব”—
You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse.”
15 হে আমার বাছা, তাদের সঙ্গে যেয়ো না, তাদের পথে পা বাড়িয়ো না;
My son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
16 কারণ তাদের পা মন্দের দিকে ধেয়ে যায়, তারা রক্তপাত করার জন্য দ্রুতগতিতে দৌড়ায়।
for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
17 যেখানে প্রত্যেকটি পাখি দেখতে পায় সেখানে জাল পাতার কোনো অর্থই হয় না!
For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird:
18 এইসব লোক নিজেদের রক্তপাত করার জন্যই ওৎ পেতে থাকে; তারা শুধু নিজেদের মারার জন্যই ঘাপটি মেরে থাকে!
but these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 বাঁকা পথে যারা ধন উপার্জন করতে চায় তাদের সবার এই গতিই হয়; যারা সেই ধন পায় তাদের প্রাণ সেই ধন ছিনিয়ে নেয়।
So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
20 পথে পথে প্রজ্ঞা চিৎকার করে বেড়ায়, প্রকাশ্য চকে সে তার সুর চড়ায়;
Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
21 প্রাচীরের মাথায় উঠে সে ডাক ছাড়ে, নগরের প্রবেশদ্বারে দাঁড়িয়ে সে বক্তৃতা দেয়:
She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
22 “তোমরা যারা অনভিজ্ঞ মানুষ, আর কত দিন তোমরা তোমাদের সরলতা ভালোবাসবে? আর কত দিন ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপকারীরা ঠাট্টা করে আনন্দ পাবে ও মূর্খেরা জ্ঞানকে ঘৃণা করবে?
“How long, you simple ones, will you 'ahav ·affectionately love· thoughtless living? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
23 আমার ভর্ৎসনা দ্বারা অনুতপ্ত হও! তখন আমি তোমাদের কাছে আমার ভাবনাচিন্তা ঢেলে দেব, আমি তোমাদের কাছে আমার শিক্ষামালা জ্ঞাত করব।
Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
24 কিন্তু যখন আমি ডাকলাম তোমরা সে ডাক প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছ, ও আমি হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া সত্ত্বেও কেউ মনোযোগ দাওনি,
Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
25 যেহেতু তোমরা আমার সব পরামর্শ উপেক্ষা করেছ ও আমার ভর্ৎসনা শুনতে চাওনি,
but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
26 তাই বিপর্যয় যখন তোমাদের আঘাত করবে তখন আমি হাসব; চরম দুর্দশা যখন তোমাদের নাগাল ধরে ফেলবে তখন আমি বিদ্রুপ করব—
I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you;
27 চরম দুর্দশা যখন ঝড়ের মতো তোমাদের নাগাল ধরে ফেলবে, বিপর্যয় যখন ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের মতো তোমাদের উপরে ধেয়ে আসবে, মর্মান্তিক যন্ত্রণা ও দুঃখকষ্ট যখন তোমাদের আচ্ছন্ন করবে।
when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you.
28 “তখন তারা আমাকে ডাকবে কিন্তু আমি উত্তর দেব না; তারা আমার খোঁজ করবে কিন্তু আমায় খুঁজে পাবে না,
Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;
29 যেহেতু তারা জ্ঞানকে ঘৃণা করেছে ও সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করতে চায়নি।
because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of Adonai.
30 যেহেতু তারা আমার পরামর্শ নিতে চায়নি ও আমার ভর্ৎসনা পদদলিত করেছে,
They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
31 তাই তারা নিজেদের আচরণের ফলভোগ করবে ও তাদের ষড়যন্ত্রের ফলে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে।
Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
32 কারণ অনভিজ্ঞ লোকদের খামখেয়ালীপনাই তাদের হত্যা করবে, ও মূর্খদের আত্মপ্রসাদই তাদের ধ্বংস করবে;
For the backsliding apostasy and willful rejection of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
33 কিন্তু যে আমার কথা শোনে সে নিরাপদে বেঁচে থাকবে ও অনিষ্টের ভয় না করে স্বচ্ছন্দে থাকবে।”
But whoever sh'ma ·hears obeys· me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
