হিতোপদেশ 8
1 প্রজ্ঞা কি ডাক দেয় না? বিচক্ষণতা কি তার সুর চড়ায় না?
Does not Wisdom call out? Does not Understanding raise her voice?
2 পথ বরাবর সবচেয়ে উঁচু জায়গায়, পথগুলি যেখানে মিলিত হয়, সেখানে গিয়ে সে দাঁড়ায়;
On the hilltops beside the road, at the crossroads, Wisdom has taken her stand.
3 যে দরজা দিয়ে নগরে ঢোকা হয়, তার পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে, প্রবেশদ্বারে দাঁড়িয়ে, সে জোরে চিৎকার করে:
Before the gates at the entrance into the city, at the entrances into the city, she calls out.
4 “ওহে জনতা, আমি তোমাদেরই ডাকছি; সমগ্র মানবজাতির উদ্দেশে আমি সুর চড়াচ্ছি।
“It is to you, people, that I call; my voice is for the sons of mankind.
5 তোমরা যারা অনভিজ্ঞ, তোমরা দূরদর্শিতা অর্জন করো; তোমরা যারা মূর্খ, তোমরা এতে মন দাও।
You who are naive, learn wisdom; and you who are foolish, you must get an understanding mind.
6 শোনো, কারণ আমার কিছু নির্ভরযোগ্য কথা বলার আছে; যা সঠিক তা বলার জন্য আমি আমার ঠোঁট খুলেছি।
Listen, because I will speak of noble things, and when my lips open I will say upright things.
7 যা সত্যি আমার মুখ তাই বলে, কারণ আমার ঠোঁট দুষ্টতা ঘৃণা করে।
For my mouth speaks what is trustworthy, and wickedness is disgusting to my lips.
8 আমার মুখের সব কথা ন্যায্য; সেগুলির মধ্যে একটিও কুটিল বা বিকৃত নয়।
All the words of my mouth are just; in them is nothing twisted or misleading.
9 বিচক্ষণের কাছে সেসব কথা সঠিক; যারা জ্ঞান লাভ করেছে তাদের কাছে সেগুলি ন্যায্য।
All of them are straight for the person who understands; my words are upright for those who find knowledge.
10 রুপোর পরিবর্তে আমার নির্দেশ, উৎকৃষ্ট সোনার পরিবর্তে বরং জ্ঞান মনোনীত করো,
Acquire my instruction rather than silver; acquire knowledge rather than pure gold.
11 কারণ প্রজ্ঞা পদ্মরাগমণির চেয়েও বেশি মূল্যবান, ও তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষিত কোনো কিছুর সাথেই তার তুলনা হয় না।
For Wisdom is better than jewels; no treasure is equal to her.
12 “আমি, প্রজ্ঞা, দূরদর্শিতার সঙ্গেই বসবাস করি; আমিই জ্ঞান ও বিচক্ষণতার অধিকারী।
I, Wisdom, live with Prudence, and I possess knowledge and discretion.
13 সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করার অর্থ মন্দকে ঘৃণা করা; আমি অহংকার ও দাম্ভিকতাকে ঘৃণা করি, মন্দ আচরণ ও সত্যভ্রষ্ট কথাবার্তাকেও করি।
The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, the evil way, and perverted speech. I hate them.
14 পরামর্শ ও সুবিচার আমার অধিকারভুক্ত; আমার কাছে দূরদর্শিতা ও ক্ষমতা আছে।
I have good advice and sound wisdom; I am insight; strength belongs to me.
15 আমার দ্বারাই রাজারা রাজত্ব করেন ও শাসনকর্তারা ন্যায়সংগত হুকুম জারি করেন;
By me kings reign, and rulers make laws that are just.
16 আমার দ্বারাই অধিপতিরা প্রভুত্ব করেন, ও সেই গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিরা—যারা সবাই পৃথিবীতে শাসন করেন।
By me princes rule, nobles, and all who govern with justice.
17 যারা আমাকে ভালোবাসে আমিও তাদের ভালোবাসি, ও যারা আমার খোঁজ করে তারা আমাকে খুঁজে পায়।
I love those who love me, and those who diligently seek me, find me.
18 আমার কাছেই আছে ধনসম্পত্তি ও সম্মান, চিরস্থায়ী সম্পদ ও সমৃদ্ধি।
With me are riches and honor, lasting wealth and righteousness.
19 আমার ফল খাঁটি সোনার চেয়েও সেরা; আমি যা উৎপাদন করি তা অসাধারণ রুপোকেও ছাপিয়ে যায়।
My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold; my produce is better than pure silver.
20 আমি ধার্মিকতার পথে চলি, ন্যায়ের পথ ধরে চলি,
I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice.
21 যারা আমাকে ভালোবাসে তাদের আমি প্রচুর উত্তরাধিকার দান করি ও তাদের ভাণ্ডার পরিপূর্ণ করে দিই।
As a result, I make those who love me inherit wealth; I fill up their treasuries.
22 “সদাপ্রভু তাঁর কর্মের প্রথম ফলরূপে, প্রাচীনকালে তাঁর করা সব কাজকর্মের আগেই আমাকে উৎপন্ন করেছিলেন;
Yahweh created me at the beginning, the first of his deeds then.
23 বহুকাল আগেই আমাকে তৈরি করা হয়েছিল, একেবারে শুরুতেই, যখন এই জগৎ পত্তন হয়েছিল তখনই হয়েছিল।
In ages long ago I was made—from the first, from the beginnings of the earth.
24 যখন অতল জলের কোনো অস্তিত্বও ছিল না, তখন আমাকে জন্ম দেওয়া হয়েছিল, যখন জলে উপচে পড়া কোনো জলের উৎসের অস্তিত্ব ছিল না;
Before there were oceans, I was given birth— before there were springs abounding with water.
25 পর্বতগুলি স্বস্থানে স্থাপিত হওয়ার আগে, পাহাড়গুলি উৎপন্ন হওয়ার আগেই,
Before the mountains were settled and before the hills, I was born.
26 সদাপ্রভু এই জগৎ বা এখানকার মাঠঘাট বা পৃথিবীর একমুঠো ধুলোবালি তৈরি করার আগেই আমাকে জন্ম দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
I was born before Yahweh had made the earth or the fields, or even the first dust in the world.
27 যখন তিনি আকাশমণ্ডলকে স্বস্থানে স্থাপন করলেন, তখন আমি সেখানে ছিলাম, যখন তিনি অতল জলরাশির বুকে দিগন্তের চিহ্ন এঁকে দিলেন,
I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew a circle on the surface of the deep.
28 যখন তিনি ঊর্ধ্বস্থ মেঘরাশি স্থাপন করলেন ও অতল জলরাশির উৎসগুলি শক্ত করে বেঁধে দিলেন,
I was there when he established the clouds above and when the springs in the deep became fixed.
29 যখন তিনি সমুদ্রের সীমা স্থির করলেন যেন জলরাশি তাঁর আদেশ লঙ্ঘন না করে, ও যখন তিনি পৃথিবীর ভিত্তিমূল চিহ্নিত করলেন।
I was there when he made his limit for the sea, so the waters should not spread beyond his command, and when there was set the limit for the foundations of the dry land.
30 তখন আমি প্রতিনিয়ত তাঁর পাশেই ছিলাম। দিনের পর দিন আমি আনন্দে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে থাকতাম, সর্বক্ষণ তাঁর উপস্থিতিতে আনন্দ উপভোগ করতাম,
I was beside him, as a skilled craftsman; I was his delight day after day, always rejoicing before him.
31 তাঁর সমগ্র এই জগৎ নিয়ে আনন্দ করতাম ও মানবজাতিকে নিয়েও আনন্দে মেতে উঠতাম।
I was rejoicing in his whole world, and my delight was in the sons of mankind.
32 “তবে এখন, হে আমার বাছারা, আমার কথা শোনো; যারা আমার পথে চলে তারা ধন্য।
Now, my sons, listen to me, for those who keep my ways will be blessed.
33 আমার নির্দেশ শোনো ও জ্ঞানবান হও; তা উপেক্ষা কোরো না।
Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not neglect it.
34 যারা আমার কথা শোনে, যারা প্রতিদিন আমার দরজায় দাঁড়িয়ে পর্যবেক্ষণ করে, আমার দরজায় দাঁড়িয়ে অপেক্ষা করে তারা ধন্য।
The one who listens to me will be blessed. He will be watching every day at my doors, waiting beside the posts of my doors.
35 কারণ যারা আমাকে খুঁজে পায় তারা জীবন খুঁজে পায় ও সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে অনুগ্রহ লাভ করে।
For whoever finds me, finds life, and he will find the favor of Yahweh.
36 কিন্তু যারা আমাকে খুঁজে পায় না তারা নিজেদেরই ক্ষতিসাধন করে; যেসব লোক আমাকে ঘৃণা করে তারা মৃত্যু ভালোবাসে।”
But he who fails, harms his own life; all who hate me love death.”
