হিতোপদেশ 3
1 হে আমার বাছা, তুমি আমার শিক্ষা ভুলে যেয়ো না, কিন্তু তোমার হৃদয়ে আমার আদেশগুলি সঞ্চয় করে রেখো,
My son, do not forget my commands and keep my teachings in your heart,
2 কারণ সেগুলি তোমার আয়ু বহু বছর বাড়িয়ে তুলবে ও তোমার জীবনে শান্তি ও সমৃদ্ধি নিয়ে আসবে।
for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.
3 ভালোবাসা ও বিশ্বস্ততা যেন কখনও তোমাকে ত্যাগ করে না যায়; সেগুলি তোমার গলায় বেঁধে রাখো, সেগুলি তোমার হৃদয়-ফলকে লিখে রাখো।
Do not let covenant faithfulness and trustworthiness ever leave you, tie them together about your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 তবেই তুমি ঈশ্বরের ও মানুষের দৃষ্টিতে অনুগ্রহ ও সুখ্যাতি লাভ করবে।
Then you will find favor and a good reputation in the sight of God and man.
5 তুমি সর্বান্তঃকরণে সদাপ্রভুর উপর আস্থা রাখো ও নিজের বিচক্ষণতার উপর নির্ভর কোরো না;
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding;
6 তোমার সমস্ত পথে তাঁর বশ্যতাস্বীকার করো, ও তিনি তোমার পথগুলি সোজা করে দেবেন।
in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
7 নিজের দৃষ্টিতে জ্ঞানবান হোয়ো না; সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করো ও কুকর্ম এড়িয়ে চলো।
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Yahweh and turn away from evil.
8 এটি তোমার দেহে স্বাস্থ্য ফিরাবে ও তোমার অস্থির পুষ্টিসাধন করবে।
It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment for your body.
9 সদাপ্রভুর সম্মান করো তোমার ধনসম্পদ ও তোমার সমস্ত ফসলের অগ্রিমাংশ দিয়ে;
Honor Yahweh with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce,
10 তবেই তোমার গোলাঘরগুলি শস্যে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে, ও ভাঁটিগুলি নতুন দ্রাক্ষারসে উপচে পড়বে।
and your storehouses will be filled up and your vats will be bursting, full of new wine.
11 হে আমার বাছা, সদাপ্রভুর শাসন তুচ্ছ কোরো না, ও তাঁর ভর্ৎসনা ক্ষতিকর বলে মনে কোরো না,
My son, do not despise Yahweh's instruction and do not hate his rebuke,
12 কারণ সদাপ্রভু যাদের প্রেম করেন, তাদেরই শাস্তি দেন, যেভাবে একজন বাবা তাঁর প্রিয় ছেলেকে দেন।
for Yahweh disciplines those he loves, as a father deals with a son who pleases him.
13 তারাই আশীর্বাদধন্য যারা প্রজ্ঞা খুঁজে পায়, যারা বিচক্ষণতা লাভ করে,
The one who finds wisdom is blessed; he also gets understanding.
14 কারণ প্রজ্ঞা রুপোর চেয়েও বেশি লাভজনক ও সোনার চেয়েও ভালো প্রতিদান দেয়।
What you gain from wisdom is better than what silver will give in return and its profit is better than gold.
15 প্রজ্ঞা পদ্মরাগমণির চেয়েও বেশি মূল্যবান; তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষিত কোনো কিছুকেই তার সাথে তুলনা করা যায় না।
Wisdom is more precious than jewels and nothing you desire can compare to her.
16 প্রজ্ঞার ডান হাতে দীর্ঘ পরমায়ু আছে; বাঁ হাতে ধন ও সম্মান আছে।
She has length of days in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 তার পথগুলি সুখকর পথ, ও তার সব পথে শান্তি আছে।
Her ways are ways of kindness and all her paths are peace.
18 যারা প্রজ্ঞাকে ধরে রাখে তাদের কাছে সে এক জীবনবৃক্ষ; যারা তাকে অটলভাবে ধরে রাখে তারা আশীর্বাদধন্য হবে।
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of it, those who hold on to it are happy.
19 সদাপ্রভু প্রজ্ঞা দ্বারাই পৃথিবীর ভিত্তিমূল স্থাপন করেছেন, বিচক্ষণতা দ্বারাই তিনি আকাশমণ্ডলকে যথাস্থানে রেখেছেন;
By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth, by understanding he established the heavens.
20 তাঁর জ্ঞানের দ্বারাই গভীর জলরাশি বিভক্ত হয়েছিল, ও মেঘরাশি শিশির বর্ষণ করে।
By his knowledge the depths broke open and the clouds dropped their dew.
21 হে আমার বাছা, প্রজ্ঞা ও বিচক্ষণতা যেন তোমার দৃষ্টি-বহির্ভূত না হয়, সূক্ষ্ম বিচার ও বিচক্ষণতা অক্ষুণ্ণ রেখো;
My son, keep sound judgment and discernment, and do not lose sight of them.
22 তোমার জন্য সেগুলি জীবনস্বরূপ হবে, তোমার গলার শোভাবর্ধক এক অলংকার হবে।
They will be life to your soul and an adornment of favor to wear around your neck.
23 তখন তুমি নিরাপদে তোমার পথে চলে যাবে, ও তোমার পায়ে হোঁচট লাগবে না।
Then you will walk on your way in safety and your foot will not stumble;
24 তুমি যখন শুয়ে থাকবে, তখন তুমি ভয় পাবে না; তুমি যখন শুয়ে থাকবে, তখন তোমার ঘুমও তৃপ্তিদায়ক হবে।
when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 আকস্মিক বিপর্যয় দেখে ভয় পাবে না বা দুষ্টদের সর্বনাশ হতে দেখেও ভয় পাবে না,
Do not be afraid of sudden terror or devastation caused by the wicked, when it comes,
26 কারণ সদাপ্রভু তোমার পাশে দাঁড়াবেন ও তোমার পা-কে ফাঁদে পড়া থেকে তিনিই রক্ষা করবেন।
for Yahweh will be on your side and will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.
27 যাদের মঙ্গল করা উচিত তাদের মঙ্গল করতে অসম্মত হোয়ো না, যখন তা করার ক্ষমতা তোমার আছে।
Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.
28 তোমার প্রতিবেশীকে বোলো না, “আগামীকাল আবার এসো ও আমি তোমাকে তা দেব”— যখন তোমার কাছেই তা আছে।
Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give it,” when you have the money with you.
29 তোমার সেই প্রতিবেশীর অনিষ্ট করার ষড়যন্ত্র কোরো না, যে তোমাকে বিশ্বাস করে তোমার পাশেই বসবাস করছে।
Do not make a plan to harm your neighbor— the one who lives close and trusts you.
30 অকারণে কাউকে দোষারোপ কোরো না— যখন সে তোমার কোনও ক্ষতি করেনি।
Do not argue with a person without a reason, when he has done nothing to harm you.
31 হিংস্র প্রকৃতির মানুষকে হিংসা কোরো না বা তাদের কোনও পথ মনোনীত কোরো না।
Do not envy a violent person or choose any of his ways.
32 কারণ সদাপ্রভু উচ্ছৃঙ্খলদের ঘৃণা করেন কিন্তু ন্যায়পরায়ণদের সাথে তিনি ঘনিষ্ঠতা বাড়ান।
For the devious person is detestable to Yahweh, but he brings the upright person into his confidence.
33 দুষ্টের বাড়ির উপরে সদাপ্রভুর অভিশাপ নেমে আসে, কিন্তু ধার্মিকের ঘরকে তিনি আশীর্বাদ করেন।
The curse of Yahweh is on the house of the wicked person, but he blesses the home of righteous people.
34 অহংকারী ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপকারীদের তিনি বিদ্রুপ করেন কিন্তু নম্র ও নিপীড়িতদের প্রতি তিনি অনুগ্রহ দেখান।
He mocks mockers, but he gives his favor to humble people.
35 জ্ঞানবানেরা সম্মানের অধিকারী হয়, কিন্তু মূর্খেরা শুধু লজ্জাই পায়।
Wise people inherit honor, but fools will be lifted up in their shame.
