হিতোপদেশ 21
1 রাজার হৃদয় সদাপ্রভুর হাতে ধরা এমন এক জলপ্রবাহ যা তিনি তাদের সবার দিকে প্রবাহিত হতে দেন যারা তাঁকে সন্তুষ্ট করে।
The Kings heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the riuers of waters: he turneth it whithersoeuer it pleaseth him.
2 মানুষ মনে করতে পারে যে তাদের পথই ঠিক, কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুই অন্তর মাপেন।
Euery way of a man is right in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
3 বলিদানের পরিবর্তে যা যথার্থ ও ন্যায্য, তা করাই সদাপ্রভুর কাছে বেশি গ্রহণযোগ্য।
To doe iustice and iudgement is more acceptable to the Lord then sacrifice.
4 উদ্ধত দৃষ্টি ও গর্বিত হৃদয়— দুষ্টদের অকর্ষিত জমি—পাপ উৎপন্ন করে।
A hautie looke, and a proude heart, which is the light of the wicked, is sinne.
5 পরিশ্রমীদের পরিকল্পনা লাভের মুখ দেখে ঠিক যেভাবে হঠকারিতা দারিদ্র নিয়ে আসে।
The thoughtes of the diligent doe surely bring abundance: but whosoeuer is hastie, commeth surely to pouertie.
6 মিথ্যাবাদী জিভ দ্বারা যে প্রচুর ধন অর্জিত হয় তা অস্থায়ী বাষ্প ও সাংঘাতিক ফাঁদবিশেষ।
The gathering of treasures by a deceitfull tongue is vanitie tossed to and from of them that seeke death.
7 দুষ্টদের হিংস্রতা তাদেরই টেনে নিয়ে যাবে, কারণ তারা যা ন্যায্য তা করতে অস্বীকার করে।
The robberie of the wicked shall destroy them: for they haue refused to execute iudgement.
8 অপরাধীদের পথ সর্পিল, কিন্তু নিরপরাধ মানুষের আচরণ ন্যায়নিষ্ঠ।
The way of some is peruerted and strange: but of the pure man, his worke is right.
9 কলহপ্রিয়া স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে এক বাড়িতে থাকার চেয়ে ছাদের এক কোনায় বসবাস করা ভালো।
It is better to dwell in a corner of the house top, then with a contentious woman in a wide house.
10 দুষ্টেরা অনিষ্টের আকাঙ্ক্ষা করে; তাদের প্রতিবেশীরা তাদের কাছ থেকে কোনও দয়া পায় না।
The soule of the wicked wisheth euill: and his neighbour hath no fauour in his eyes.
11 যখন বিদ্রুপকারী শাস্তি পায়, অনভিজ্ঞ লোকেরা জ্ঞানার্জন করে; জ্ঞানবানদের প্রতি মনোযোগ দিয়ে তারা জ্ঞান লাভ করে।
When the scorner is punished, the foolish is wise: and when one instructeth the wise, he wil receiue knowledge.
12 ধর্মময় জন দুষ্টদের বাড়ির দিকে নজর রাখেন ও দুষ্টদের সর্বনাশ করেন।
The righteous teacheth the house of the wicked: but God ouerthroweth the wicked for their euill.
13 যারা দরিদ্রদের কান্না শুনেও কান বন্ধ করে রাখে তারাও কাঁদবে ও কোনও উত্তর পাবে না।
He that stoppeth his eare at the crying of the poore, he shall also cry and not be heard.
14 গোপনে দত্ত উপহার ক্রোধ প্রশমিত করে, ও আলখাল্লার নিচে লুকিয়ে রাখা ঘুস প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ শান্ত করে।
A gift in secret pacifieth anger, and a gift in the bosome great wrath.
15 যখন ন্যায়বিচার করা হয়, তা ধার্মিকদের জীবনে আনন্দ এনে দেয় কিন্তু অনিষ্টকারীদের জীবনে আতঙ্ক জাগায়।
It is ioye to the iust to doe iudgement: but destruction shalbe to the workers of iniquitie.
16 যে দূরদর্শিতার পথ থেকে দূরে সরে যায় সে মৃত মানুষদের সমাজে এসে বিশ্রাম নেয়।
A man that wandreth out of the way of wisdome, shall remaine in the congregation of the dead.
17 যে তুচ্ছ আমোদ-প্রমোদ ভালোবাসে সে দরিদ্র হয়ে যাবে; যে দ্রাক্ষারস ও জলপাই তেল ভালোবাসে সে কখনও ধনবান হবে না।
Hee that loueth pastime, shalbe a poore man: and he that loueth wine and oyle, shall not be riche.
18 দুষ্টেরা ধার্মিকদের জন্য, ও বিশ্বাসঘাতকেরা ন্যায়পরায়ণদের জন্য মুক্তিপণ হবে।
The wicked shalbe a ransome for the iust, and the transgressour for the righteous.
19 কলহপ্রিয়া ও খুঁতখুঁতে স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে বসবাস করার চেয়ে বরং মরুভূমিতে বসবাস করা ভালো।
It is better to dwell in the wildernesse, then with a contentious and angry woman.
20 জ্ঞানবানেরা পছন্দসই খাদ্যদ্রব্য ও জলপাই তেল সঞ্চয় করে রাখে, কিন্তু মূর্খেরা তাদের কাছে যা কিছু থাকে সেসব গ্রাস করে ফেলে।
In the house of the wise is a pleasant treasure and oyle: but a foolish man deuoureth it.
21 যে ধার্মিকতা ও ভালোবাসার পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে সে জীবন, সমৃদ্ধি ও সম্মান পায়।
He that followeth after righteousnes and mercy, shall finde life, righteousnes, and glory.
22 যে জ্ঞানবান সে বলশালীদের নগর আক্রমণ করতে পারে ও সেই বলশালীরা যে দুর্গের উপরে নির্ভর করে থাকে, সেগুলিও চূর্ণ করে দিতে পারে।
A wise man goeth vp into the citie of the mightie, and casteth downe the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 যারা তাদের মুখ ও জিভ সংযত রাখে তারা নিজেদেরকে চরম দুর্দশা থেকে রক্ষা করে।
He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soule from afflictions.
24 অহংকারী ও দাম্ভিক মানুষ—তার নাম “বিদ্রুপকারী”— অশিষ্ট উন্মত্ততাপূর্ণ আচরণ করে।
Proude, hautie and scornefull is his name that worketh in his arrogancie wrath.
25 অলসের তীব্র আকাঙ্ক্ষা তার মৃত্যু ডেকে আনে, কারণ তার হাত দুটি কাজ করতে অস্বীকার করে।
The desire of the slouthfull slayeth him: for his hands refuse to worke.
26 সারাটি দিন ধরে সে আরও বেশি কিছু পাওয়ার আকাঙ্ক্ষা করে, কিন্তু ধার্মিকেরা অকাতরে দান করে।
He coueteth euermore greedily, but the righteous giueth and spareth not.
27 দুষ্টদের বলিদান ঘৃণার্হ— মন্দ উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে যখন তা আনা হয় তখন তা আরও কত না বেশি ঘৃণার্হ হয়ে যায়!
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more when he bringeth it with a wicked minde?
28 মিথ্যাসাক্ষী ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে, কিন্তু মনোযোগী শ্রোতা সফলতাপূর্বক সাক্ষ্য দেবে।
A false witnes shall perish: but hee that heareth, speaketh continually.
29 দুষ্টেরা দুঃসাহসিক ধৃষ্টতা খাড়া করে, কিন্তু ন্যায়পরায়ণরা তাদের জীবনযাত্রার ধরনের কথা ভেবে চলে।
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but the iust, he will direct his way.
30 এমন কোনও প্রজ্ঞা, দূরদর্শিতা বা পরিকল্পনা নেই যা সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে সফল হতে পারে।
There is no wisedome, neither vnderstanding, nor counsell against the Lord.
31 ঘোড়াকে যুদ্ধের দিনের জন্য তৈরি করে রাখা হয়। কিন্তু বিজয় নির্ভর করে সদাপ্রভুর উপরে।
The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but saluation is of the Lord.
