হিতোপদেশ 2
1 হে আমার বাছা, তুমি যদি আমার কথা শোনো ও আমার আদেশগুলি হৃদয়ে সঞ্চয় করে রাখো,
My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,
2 প্রজ্ঞার প্রতি কর্ণপাত করো ও বুদ্ধিতে মনোনিবেশ করো—
And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,
3 সত্যিই, তুমি যদি অন্তর্দৃষ্টিকে ডাক দাও ও বুদ্ধি লাভের জন্য জোর গলায় কাকুতিমিনতি করো,
(For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:
4 ও যদি রুপোর মতো তার খোঁজ করো ও গুপ্তধনের মতো তা খুঁজে বেড়াও,
If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,
5 তবেই তুমি সদাপ্রভুর ভয় বুঝতে পারবে ও ঈশ্বরের জ্ঞান খুঁজে পাবে।
Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.
6 কারণ সদাপ্রভুই প্রজ্ঞা দান করেন; তাঁর মুখ থেকেই জ্ঞান ও বুদ্ধি বের হয়।
For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.
7 ন্যায়পরায়ণদের জন্য তিনি সাফল্য সঞ্চয় করে রাখেন, যাদের চলন অনিন্দনীয়, তাদের জন্য তিনি ঢাল হয়ে দাঁড়ান,
He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,
8 কারণ তিনি ধার্মিকের পথ পাহারা দেন ও তাঁর বিশ্বস্তজনেদের গতিপথ রক্ষা করেন।
That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)
9 তখন তুমি বুঝবে ন্যায্য ও যথাযথ ও উপযুক্ত—প্রত্যেক সঠিক পথ কী।
Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.
10 কারণ তোমার হৃদয়ে প্রজ্ঞা প্রবেশ করবে, ও জ্ঞান তোমার প্রাণের পক্ষে আনন্দদায়ক হবে।
When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,
11 বিচক্ষণতা তোমাকে রক্ষা করবে, ও বুদ্ধি তোমাকে পাহারা দেবে।
Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,
12 প্রজ্ঞা তোমাকে দুষ্টলোকের পথ থেকে উদ্ধার করবে, সেইসব লোকের হাত থেকে করবে যারা বিকৃত কথা বলে,
And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,
13 যারা অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন পথে চলার জন্য সোজা পথ ত্যাগ করেছে,
And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:
14 যারা অন্যায় করে আনন্দ পায় ও মন্দের বিকৃতমনস্কতায় আনন্দিত হয়,
Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,
15 যাদের পথ কুটিল ও যারা তাদের আচরণে প্রতারণাপূর্ণ।
Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.
16 প্রজ্ঞা তোমাকে ব্যভিচারিণীর হাত থেকেও উদ্ধার করবে, সম্মোহনী কথা বলা স্বৈরিণী মহিলার হাত থেকেও করবে,
And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.
17 যে তার যৌবনাবস্থাতেই স্বামীকে ত্যাগ করেছে ও ঈশ্বরের সামনে করা তার চুক্তি উপেক্ষা করেছে।
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.
18 নিশ্চয় তার বাড়ি মৃত্যুর দিকে পা বাড়ায় ও তার পথ মৃত মানুষের আত্মাদের দিকে এগিয়ে যায়।
Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.
19 যারা তার কাছে যায় তারা কেউ আর ফিরে আসে না বা জীবনের পথও অর্জন করে না।
All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.
20 এইভাবে তুমি সুশীলদের পথে চলবে ও ধার্মিকদের পথ অবলম্বন করবে।
Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.
21 কারণ ন্যায়পরায়ণরাই দেশে বসবাস করবে, ও অনিন্দনীয়রাই সেখানে অবশিষ্ট থাকবে;
For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.
22 কিন্তু দুষ্টেরা দেশ থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হবে, ও অবিশ্বস্ত লোকেরা সেখান থেকে নির্মূল হবে।
But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
