মথি 8
1 যীশু যখন পর্বতের উপর থেকে নেমে এলেন তখন অনেক লোক তাঁকে অনুসরণ করতে লাগল।
Being come down from the mountain, followed by a great multitude,
2 তখন একজন কুষ্ঠরোগী এসে তাঁর সামনে নতজানু হয়ে বলল, “প্রভু, আপনি ইচ্ছা করলেই আমাকে শুচিশুদ্ধ করতে পারেন।”
a leper came, who, presenting himself before him, said, Sir, if you will, you can cleanse me.
3 যীশু তাঁর হাত বাড়িয়ে সেই ব্যক্তিকে স্পর্শ করলেন। তিনি বললেন, “আমার ইচ্ছা, তুমি শুচিশুদ্ধ হও!” তৎক্ষণাৎ তার কুষ্ঠরোগ দূর হয়ে গেল।
Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be you clean. Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
4 তখন যীশু তাকে বললেন, “দেখো, তুমি একথা কাউকে বোলো না, কিন্তু যাজকদের কাছে গিয়ে নিজেকে দেখাও এবং মোশির আদেশমতো তাদের কাছে সাক্ষ্য দেওয়ার জন্য নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করো।”
Then Jesus said to him, See you tell no person; but go, show yourself to the priest, and make the oblation prescribed by Moses, for notifying the cure to the people.
5 যীশু কফরনাহূমে প্রবেশ করলে একজন শত-সেনাপতি তাঁর কাছে এসে সাহায্যের নিবেদন করলেন।
Having entered Capernaum, a centurion accosted him with this request,
6 তিনি বললেন, “প্রভু, আমার দাস পক্ষাঘাতে আক্রান্ত হয়ে বাড়িতে পড়ে আছে, ভীষণ কষ্ট পাচ্ছে।”
Sir, my man-servant lies sick at home, exceedingly afflicted with a palsy.
7 যীশু তাকে বললেন, “আমি গিয়ে তাকে সুস্থ করব।”
Jesus answered, I will go and cure him.
8 সেই শত-সেনাপতি উত্তরে বললেন, “প্রভু, আপনি আমার বাড়িতে আসবেন আমি এমন যোগ্য নই। কেবলমাত্র মুখে বলুন, তাতেই আমার দাস সুস্থ হবে।
The centurion replying, said, Sir, I am not worthy, that you should come under my roof; only say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 কারণ আমিও কর্তৃত্বের অধীন একজন মানুষ এবং সৈন্যরা আমার অধীন। আমি তাদের একজনকে ‘যাও’ বললে সে যায়, অপরজনকে ‘এসো’ বললে সে আসে, আবার আমার দাসকে ‘এই কাজটি করো,’ বললে সে তা করে।”
For even I, who am under command myself, having soldiers under me, say to one, Go, and he goes; to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
10 একথা শুনে যীশু বিস্মিত হয়ে তাঁর অনুসরণকারীদের উদ্দেশে বললেন, “আমি তোমাদের সত্যিই বলছি, ইস্রায়েলে আমি এমন কারও সন্ধান পাইনি, যার মধ্যে এত গভীর বিশ্বাস আছে।
Jesus hearing this, was astonished, and said to those who followed, Indeed, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found so great faith.
11 আমি তোমাদের বলে রাখছি, প্রাচ্য ও পাশ্চাত্য দেশ থেকে বহু মানুষই আসবে এবং এসে অব্রাহাম, ইস্হাক ও যাকোবের সঙ্গে স্বর্গরাজ্যে তাদের আসন গ্রহণ করবে।
But I assure you, that many will come from the east and from the west, and will be placed at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven,
12 কিন্তু সেই রাজ্যের প্রজাদের বাইরের অন্ধকারে ফেলে দেওয়া হবে, যেখানে রোদন ও দন্তঘর্ষণ হবে।”
while the sons of the kingdom shall be thrust out into outer darkness, where will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 পরে যীশু সেই শত-সেনাপতিকে বললেন, “যাও! তুমি যেমন বিশ্বাস করেছ, তেমনই হবে।” আর সেই মুহূর্তেই তার দাস সুস্থ হয়ে গেল।
Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go home; be it to you, according to your faith. That instant his servant was cured.
14 যীশু যখন পিতরের বাড়িতে এলেন, তিনি দেখলেন, পিতরের শাশুড়ি জ্বরে বিছানায় শুয়ে আছেন।
Then Jesus having entered Peter's house, saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever,
15 তিনি তাঁর হাত স্পর্শ করলেন, এবং তাঁর জ্বর ছেড়ে গেল। তিনি উঠে তাঁর পরিচর্যা করতে লাগলেন।
and having touched her hand, the fever left her; on which she arose and entertained him.
16 যখন সন্ধ্যা ঘনিয়ে এল, বহু ভূতগ্রস্ত মানুষকে যীশুর কাছে নিয়ে আসা হল। তিনি মুখের কথাতেই ভূতদের তাড়িয়ে দিলেন ও সব অসুস্থ ব্যক্তিকে সুস্থ করলেন।
In the evening they presented to him many demoniacs; and he expelled the spirits with a word, and cured all the sick;
17 এভাবে ভাববাদী যিশাইয়ের মাধ্যমে কথিত বচন পূর্ণ হল: “তিনি আমাদের সমস্ত দুর্বলতা গ্রহণ ও আমাদের সকল রোগ বহন করলেন।”
thus verifying the saying of the Prophet Isaiah, "He has himself carried off our infirmities, and borne our distresses."
18 যীশু যখন তাঁর চারপাশে অনেক লোকের ভিড় দেখলেন, তিনি সাগরের অপর পারে যাওয়ার জন্য শিষ্যদের আদেশ দিলেন।
Jesus seeing himself crowded on all sides, gave orders to pass to the opposite shore.
19 তখন একজন শাস্ত্রবিদ তাঁর কাছে এসে বললেন, “গুরুমহাশয়, আপনি যেখানে যাবেন আমিও আপনার সঙ্গে সেখানে যাব।”
Meantime, a scribe accosted him, saying, Rabbi, I will follow you whithersoever you go.
20 উত্তরে যীশু বললেন, “শিয়ালদের গর্ত আছে, আকাশের পাখিদের বাসা আছে, কিন্তু মনুষ্যপুত্রের মাথা রাখার কোনও স্থান নেই।”
Jesus answered, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have places of shelter, but the Son of Man has not where to repose his head.
21 অন্য একজন শিষ্য তাঁকে বললেন, “প্রভু, প্রথমে আমাকে গিয়ে আমার পিতাকে সমাধি দিয়ে আসার অনুমতি দিন।”
Another, one of his disciples, said to him, Master, permit me to go first, and bury my father.
22 কিন্তু যীশু তাঁকে বললেন, “আমাকে অনুসরণ করো। মৃতেরাই তাদের মৃতজনদের সমাধি দিক।”
Jesus answered, Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.
23 এরপর যীশু নৌকায় উঠলেন ও শিষ্যরাও তাঁর সঙ্গ নিলেন।
Then entering the bark, his disciples followed him.
24 হঠাৎ সমুদ্রে এক ভয়ংকর ঝড় উঠল ও নৌকার উপরে ঢেউ আছড়ে পড়তে লাগল। কিন্তু যীশু তখন ঘুমাচ্ছিলেন।
Soon after there arose in the sea so great a tempest, that the bark was covered with billows. But he being asleep,
25 শিষ্যেরা গিয়ে তাঁকে জাগিয়ে তুলে বললেন, “প্রভু, আমাদের রক্ষা করুন! আমরা যে ডুবতে বসেছি!”
the disciples came and waked him, saying, Save us, Master, we perish.
26 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “অল্পবিশ্বাসীর দল, তোমরা এত ভয় পাচ্ছ কেন?” তারপর তিনি উঠে ঝড় ও ঢেউকে ধমক দিলেন, তাতে সবকিছু সম্পূর্ণ শান্ত হয়ে গেল।
He answered, Why are you so timorous, O you distrustful? Then he arose, and having commanded the winds and the sea, a great calm ensued;
27 এতে শিষ্যেরা আশ্চর্য হয়ে বললেন, “ইনি কেমন মানুষ? ঝড় ও সমুদ্র তাঁর আদেশ পালন করে!”
insomuch that every one exclaimed with admiration, What personage is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey.
28 পরে যীশু যখন সমুদ্রের অপর পারে গাদারীয়দের অঞ্চলে পৌঁছালেন, দুজন ভূতগ্রস্ত লোক সমাধিস্থল থেকে বের হয়ে তাঁর সামনে এসে উপস্থিত হল। তারা এতই হিংস্র ছিল যে, সেই পথ দিয়ে কেউই যাওয়া-আসা করতে পারত না।
When he was come to the other side, into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two demoniacs, issuing out of the monuments, so furious, that no person durst pass that way.
29 তারা চিৎকার করে বলল, “হে ঈশ্বরের পুত্র, আপনি আমাদের নিয়ে কী করতে চান? নির্ধারিত সময়ের পূর্বেই কি আপনি আমাদের যন্ত্রণা দিতে এসেছেন?”
These instantly cried, saying, What hast thou to do with us, Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
30 তাদের কাছ থেকে কিছুটা দূরে একপাল শূকর চরে বেড়াচ্ছিল।
Now there was feeding, at some distance, a great herd of swine.
31 সেই ভূতেরা যীশুর কাছে বিনতি করল, “আপনি যদি আমাদের তাড়াতে চান, তাহলে ওই শূকরদের মধ্যে আমাদের পাঠিয়ে দিন।”
And the friends besought him, saying, If thou expel us, permit us to go into the herd of swine.
32 তিনি তাদের বললেন, “যাও!” তখন তারা বেরিয়ে এসে সেই শূকরপালের মধ্যে প্রবেশ করল। তাতে সেই শূকরের পাল ঢালু তীর বেয়ে তীব্র গতিতে ছুটে এসে সমুদ্রে পড়ল ও জলে ডুবে মারা গেল।
He answered, Go. And when they were cast out, they went into the swine; on which the whole herd rushed down a precipice into the sea, and perished in the waters.
33 যারা সেই শূকরদের চরাচ্ছিল, তারা দৌড়ে পালিয়ে নগরের মধ্যে গেল ও এসব বিষয়ের সংবাদ দিল; ওই ভূতগ্রস্ত লোকদের কী ঘটেছিল, সেকথাও তারা বলল।
Then the herdsmen fled into the city, and reported everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs.
34 তখন নগরের সমস্ত লোক যীশুর সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করার জন্য বেরিয়ে এল। তারা তাঁকে দেখতে পেয়ে অনুরোধ করল, যেন তিনি তাদের অঞ্চল ছেড়ে চলে যান।
Presently the whole city went out to meet Jesus, and having seen him, entreated him to depart out of their territory.
