1 “কারণ স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন এক গৃহকর্তার মতো, যিনি তাঁর দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কর্মী নিয়োগের জন্য ভোরবেলা বাইরে গেলেন।

For the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a house, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

2 কর্মীদের দৈনিক এক দিনার পারিশ্রমিক দিতে সম্মত হয়ে তাদের তিনি নিজের দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

And when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3 “সকাল নয়টার সময় তিনি বাইরে গিয়ে দেখলেন, আরও কিছু মানুষ বাজারে নিষ্কর্মা অবস্থায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছে।

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the market, idle;

4 তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরাও গিয়ে আমার দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কাজ করো, যা ন্যায়সংগত তা আমি তোমাদের দেব।’

and he said to them: Go you also into my vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.

5 তাতে তারাও গেল। “বেলা বারোটার সময় ও বিকেল তিনটের সময় তিনি আবার বাইরে গিয়ে সেরকম করলেন।

And they went. Again he went out about the sixth, and about the ninth hour, and did in like manner.

6 বিকেল প্রায় পাঁচটার সময় তিনি বাইরে গিয়ে দেখলেন, আরও কয়েকজন দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। তিনি তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ‘তোমরা কেন এখানে সমস্ত দিন নিষ্কর্মা অবস্থায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছ?’

And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and said to them, Why do you stand here all the day idle?

7 “তারা উত্তর দিল, ‘কারণ কেউই আমাদের কাজে লাগায়নি।’ “তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরাও গিয়ে আমার দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কাজ করো।’

They said to him: No man has hired us. He said to them: Go you also into the vineyard, and whatever is right you shall receive.

8 “পরে সন্ধ্যা হলে, দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতের মালিক তাঁর নায়েবকে ডেকে বললেন, ‘সব কর্মীকে ডেকে শেষের জন থেকে শুরু করে প্রথমজন পর্যন্ত প্রত্যেককে তাদের মজুরি দিয়ে দাও।’

When the evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward: Call the laborers, and, beginning with the last, pay them their hire even to the first.

9 “বিকেল পাঁচটায় যাদের নিয়োগ করা হয়েছিল, তারা এসে সকলে এক দিনার করে পেল।

And when those came who had been hired about the eleventh hour, they received each one a denarius.

10 তখন যাদের সর্বপ্রথমে নিযুক্ত করা হয়েছিল, তারা এসে আরও বেশি পারিশ্রমিক আশা করল। কিন্তু তারা প্রত্যেকে এক দিনার করেই পেল।

But when those came who had been hired first, they thought that they would receive more; and they received each one a denarius.

11 তারা তা পেয়ে গৃহকর্তার বিরুদ্ধে অসন্তোষ প্রকাশ করতে লাগল।

And when they received it, they murmured against the master of the house,

12 তারা বলল, ‘এই লোকেরা, যাদের বিকেল পাঁচটায় নিয়োগ করা হয়েছিল, তারা তো কেবলমাত্র এক ঘণ্টা কাজ করেছে। আর আমরা যারা সমস্ত দিনের কাজের ভারবহন করে রোদের তাপে পুড়েছি, আপনি কি না আমাদের সমান মজুরি তাদের দিলেন।’

saying: These last have worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day, and the heat.

13 “কিন্তু তিনি তাদের একজনকে উত্তর দিলেন, ‘বন্ধু, আমি তোমার প্রতি কোনও অবিচার করিনি। তুমি কি এক দিনারের বিনিময়ে কাজ করতে সম্মত হওনি?

But he answered and said to one of them: Friend, I do you no injustice; did you not agree with me for a denarius?

14 তোমার পাওনা নিয়ে চলে যাও। আমার ইচ্ছা আমি শেষে নিয়োগ করা লোকটিকেও তোমার সমানই মজুরি দেব।

Take what is yours, and go; I will give to this last even as to you.

15 আমার অর্থ নিজের ইচ্ছামতো ব্যবহার করার কি অধিকার আমার নেই? না, আমি সদয় বলে তুমি ঈর্ষাকাতর হয়ে পড়েছ?’

Is it not allowed me to do what I will with my own? Or, is your eye envious, because I am good?

16 “এভাবেই শেষের জন প্রথম হবে ও প্রথমের জন শেষে পড়বে।”

So the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.

17 এসময় যীশু যখন জেরুশালেমের পথে যাচ্ছিলেন, তিনি সেই বারোজন শিষ্যকে এক পাশে ডেকে বললেন,

And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside on his journey, and said to them:

18 “আমরা জেরুশালেম পর্যন্ত যাচ্ছি, আর মনুষ্যপুত্রকে প্রধান যাজকদের ও শাস্ত্রবিদদের হাতে সমর্পণ করা হবে। তারা তাঁকে মৃত্যুদণ্ডে দণ্ডিত করবে

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death,

19 ও অইহুদিদের হাতে তুলে দেবে। তারা তাঁকে বিদ্রুপ করবে ও চাবুক দিয়ে মারার এবং ক্রুশার্পিত হওয়ার জন্য তাঁকে সমর্পণ করবে। কিন্তু তৃতীয় দিনে তিনি মৃত্যু থেকে পুনরুত্থিত হবেন।”

and will deliver him to the Gentiles to deride, and to scourge, and to crucify: and on the third day he shall rise again.

20 পরে সিবদিয়ের দুই পুত্রের মা তাদের নিয়ে যীশুর কাছে এলেন এবং নতজানু হয়ে তাঁর কাছে এক প্রার্থনা চাইলেন।

Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing down, and asking something of him.

21 তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তুমি কী চাও?” তিনি বললেন, “অনুমতি দিন যেন আপনার রাজ্যে আমার এক ছেলে আপনার ডানদিকে ও অন্যজন বাঁদিকে বসতে পায়।”

He said to her: What do you wish? She said to him: Command that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom.

22 যীশু তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা কী চাইছ, তা তোমরা বোঝো না। আমি যে পানপাত্রে পান করি, তাতে কি তোমরা পান করতে পারো?” তারা উত্তর দিলেন, “আমরা পারি।”

But Jesus answered and said: You know not what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and to be immersed with the immersion with which I am immersed? They said to him: We are able.

23 যীশু তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা সত্যিই আমার পানপাত্র থেকে পান করবে, কিন্তু আমার ডানদিকে বা বাঁদিকে বসার অনুমতি আমি দিতে পারি না। আমার পিতা যাদের জন্য তা নির্ধারিত করেছেন, এই স্থানগুলিতে কেবলমাত্র তারাই বসতে পারবে।”

And he said to them: You shall drink my cup, and be immersed with the immersion with which I am immersed: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it has been prepared by my Father.

24 অন্য দশজন একথা শুনে সেই দুই ভাইয়ের প্রতি রুষ্ট হলেন।

And when the ten heard it, their anger was aroused against the two brothers.

25 যীশু তাদের সকলকে কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “তোমরা জানো, পরজাতীয়দের শাসকেরা তাদের উপরে প্রভুত্ব করে, আবার তাদের উচ্চপদাধিকারীরাও তাদের উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করে।

But Jesus called them to him, and said: You know that the rulers of the Gentiles act as lords over them, and their great men have authority over them.

26 তোমাদের ক্ষেত্রে সেরকম হবে না। বরং, কেউ যদি তোমাদের মধ্যে মহান হতে চায়, তাকে অবশ্যই তোমাদের দাস হতে হবে।

It shall not be so among you. But whoever will be great among you, let him be your minister.

27 আর কেউ যদি প্রধান হতে চায়, তাকে অবশ্যই তোমাদের ক্রীতদাস হতে হবে।

And whoever will be first among you, let him be your servant;

28 যেমন মনুষ্যপুত্রও সেবা পেতে আসেননি, কিন্তু সেবা করতে ও অনেকের পরিবর্তে নিজের প্রাণ মুক্তিপণস্বরূপ দিতে এসেছেন।”

even as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 যীশু ও তাঁর শিষ্যেরা যখন যিরীহো ছেড়ে যাচ্ছিলেন, অনেক লোক তাঁকে অনুসরণ করল।

And as they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 দুজন অন্ধ মানুষ পথের পাশে বসেছিল। তারা যখন শুনল, যীশু সেই পথ দিয়ে যাচ্ছেন, তারা চিৎকার করে বলল, “প্রভু, দাউদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি কৃপা করুন!”

And behold, two blind men, sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying: Have mercy on us, Lord, son of David.

31 লোকেরা তাদের ধমক দিয়ে শান্ত থাকতে বলল, কিন্তু তারা আরও জোরে চিৎকার করতে লাগল, “প্রভু, দাউদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি কৃপা করুন!”

And the multitude charged them to be silent. But they cried the more, saying: Have mercy on us, Lord, son of David.

32 যীশু পথ চলা থামিয়ে তাদের ডাকলেন। তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কী চাও, আমি তোমাদের জন্য কী করব?”

And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said: What do you wish me to do for you?

33 তারা উত্তর দিল, “প্রভু, আমরা দৃষ্টিশক্তি পেতে চাই।”

They said to him: Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 যীশু তাদের প্রতি করুণায় পূর্ণ হয়ে তাদের চোখ স্পর্শ করলেন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তারা দৃষ্টিশক্তি লাভ করল ও তাঁকে অনুসরণ করতে লাগল।

Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes; and their eyes immediately received sight, and they followed him.
