মথি 17
1 ছয় দিন পর, যীশু তাঁর সঙ্গে পিতর, যাকোব ও তাঁর ভাই যোহনকে নিয়ে অতি উচ্চ এক পর্বতে উঠলেন।
Now after six days Jesus takes Peter, James and his brother John and leads them up on a high mountain, in private.
2 সেখানে তিনি তাঁদের সামনে রূপান্তরিত হলেন। তাঁর মুখ সূর্যের মতো জ্যোতির্ময় হয়ে উঠল এবং তাঁর পোশাক আলোর মতো ধবধবে সাদা হয়ে উঠল।
And He was transfigured before them and his face shone like the sun, while His clothes became as white as the light.
3 ঠিক সেই সময়, তাঁদের সামনে মোশি ও এলিয় আবির্ভূত হয়ে যীশুর সঙ্গে কথা বলতে লাগলেন।
When wow, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with Him.
4 পিতর যীশুকে বললেন, “প্রভু, এখানে থাকা আমাদের পক্ষে ভালোই হবে। আপনি যদি চান, আমি তিনটি তাঁবু নির্মাণ করি, একটি আপনার জন্য, একটি মোশির জন্য ও একটি এলিয়ের জন্য।”
Then Peter reacted and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, let us make three booths: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 তিনি তখনও কথা বলছেন, এমন সময় একটি উজ্জ্বল মেঘ তাঁদের ঢেকে ফেলল। আর মেঘ থেকে এক কণ্ঠস্বর ধ্বনিত হল, “ইনিই আমার পুত্র, যাঁকে আমি প্রেম করি; এঁর প্রতি আমি পরম প্রসন্ন। তোমরা এঁর কথা শোনো।”
While he was still speaking a brilliant cloud overshadowed them, and then, a Voice came out of the cloud saying: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am always well pleased. Hear Him!”
6 শিষ্যেরা একথা শুনে ভূমিতে উবুড় হয়ে পড়লেন এবং অত্যন্ত ভীত হলেন।
As the disciples heard it they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
7 কিন্তু যীশু এসে তাঁদের স্পর্শ করে বললেন, “ওঠো, ভয় কোরো না।”
Then Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, don't be afraid.”
8 তাঁরা যখন চোখ তুলে তাকালেন, তাঁরা আর কোনো মানুষকে দেখতে পেলেন না, কেবলমাত্র যীশু একা সেখানে ছিলেন।
So lifting up their eyes they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 পর্বত থেকে নেমে আসার সময়, যীশু তাঁদের এই আদেশ দিলেন, “মনুষ্যপুত্র মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত, তোমরা যা দেখলে সেকথা কাউকে বোলো না।”
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them saying, “Tell no one the vision until the Son of the Man is risen from the dead.”
10 শিষ্যেরা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “শাস্ত্রবিদরা তাহলে কেন বলেন যে, এলিয়কে অবশ্যই প্রথমে আসতে হবে?”
So His disciples questioned Him saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
11 যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “একথা নিশ্চিত যে, এলিয় এসে সব বিষয় পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠিত করবেন।
In answer Jesus said to them: “Elijah is indeed coming first, and he will restore all things.
12 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, এলিয় ইতিমধ্যে এসে গেছেন, আর তারা তাঁকে চিনতে পারেনি। তারা তাঁর প্রতি যেমন ইচ্ছা, তেমনই ব্যবহার করেছে। একইভাবে, মনুষ্যপুত্রও তাদের হাতে কষ্টভোগ করতে চলেছেন।”
But I say to you that ‘Elijah’ has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. Thus also the Son of the Man is about to suffer at their hands.”
13 শিষ্যেরা তখন বুঝতে পারলেন যে, তিনি তাঁদের বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহনের কথা বলছেন।
Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptizer.
14 তাঁরা যখন অনেক লোকের মাঝে এলেন, একজন লোক যীশুর সামনে এসে নতজানু হয়ে বলল,
As they came to the crowd a man approached Him and kneeling to Him said:
15 “প্রভু, আমার পুত্রের প্রতি দয়া করুন, সে মৃগীরোগগ্রস্ত এবং অত্যন্ত যন্ত্রণাভোগ করছে। সে প্রায়ই আগুনে বা জলে লাফ দিয়ে পড়ে।
“Lord, have mercy on my son, because he is moonstruck and suffers badly! For he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
16 আপনার শিষ্যদের কাছে আমি তাকে এনেছিলাম, কিন্তু তাঁরা তাকে সুস্থ করতে পারেননি।”
So I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17 যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “ওহে অবিশ্বাসী ও পথভ্রষ্ট প্রজন্ম, আমি কত কাল তোমাদের সঙ্গে থাকব? আমি কত কাল তোমাদের সহ্য করব? ছেলেটিকে এখানে আমার কাছে নিয়ে এসো।”
Then in answer Jesus said: “O faithless and perverse generation, how long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.”
18 যীশু সেই ভূতকে ধমক দিলেন, এতে ছেলেটির মধ্য থেকে সে বের হয়ে এল, আর সেই মুহূর্ত থেকে সে সুস্থ হয়ে উঠল।
And Jesus rebuked the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that very hour.
19 তারপর শিষ্যেরা গোপনে যীশুর কাছে এসে তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমরা কেন ওটি ছাড়াতে পারলাম না?”
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why were we not able to cast it out?”
20 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “কারণ তোমাদের বিশ্বাস অতি অল্প। আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, তোমাদের বিশ্বাস যদি সর্ষের দানা যেমন ক্ষুদ্র তেমনই হয়, তোমরা এই পর্বতটিকে বলবে, ‘এখান থেকে ওখানে সরে যাও,’ আর সেটি সরে যাবে। তোমাদের পক্ষে কোনো কিছুই অসম্ভব থাকবে না।”
So Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed has, you (ye) will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
21 কিন্তু প্রার্থনা ও উপোস ছাড়া এই জাতি কোনো কিছুতেই বের হয় না।
However, this class does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
22 পরে তারা যখন গালীলে একত্র হলেন, তিনি তাদের বললেন, “মনুষ্যপুত্রকে লোকেদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হবে।
While they were staying in Galilee Jesus said to them, “The Son of the Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men,
23 তারা তাঁকে হত্যা করবে, কিন্তু তৃতীয় দিনে তিনি মৃত্যু থেকে জীবিত হয়ে উঠবেন।” এতে শিষ্যেরা খুব দুঃখিত হলেন।
and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised.” And they were seriously grieved.
24 যীশু ও তাঁর শিষ্যেরা কফরনাহূমে উপস্থিত হলে পর মন্দিরের দুই-দ্রাকমা কর আদায়কারীরা এসে পিতরকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “তোমাদের গুরুমহাশয় কি মন্দিরের কর দেন না?”
When they entered Capernaum those who collected the temple tax approached Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”
25 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “হ্যাঁ, তিনি দেন।” পিতর যখন বাড়িতে ফিরে এলেন, যীশুই প্রথমে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “শিমোন, তুমি কী মনে করো, পৃথিবীর রাজারা কার কাছ থেকে শুল্ক ও কর আদায় করে থাকেন—তাঁর নিজের সন্তানদের কাছে, না অন্যদের কাছ থেকে?”
He says, “Yes.” So when they entered the house Jesus anticipated him saying: “Simon, what do you think? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or poll tax, from their sons or from strangers?”
26 পিতর উত্তর দিলেন, “অন্যদের কাছ থেকে।” যীশু তাকে বললেন, “তাহলে তো সন্তানেরা দায়মুক্ত!
Peter says to Him, “From the strangers.” Jesus said to him: “Well then, the sons are free.
27 কিন্তু আমরা যেন তাদের মনে আঘাত না দিই, এই কারণে তুমি সাগরে গিয়ে তোমার বড়শি ফেলো। প্রথমে যে মাছটি তুমি ধরবে, সেটি নিয়ে তার মুখ খুললে তুমি চারদিনের পারিশ্রমিকের সমান একটি মুদ্রা পাবে। সেটি নিয়ে তোমার ও আমার কর-বাবদ ওদের দিয়ে দাও।”
But, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And opening its mouth you will find a ‘stater’ [a coin]; take that and give it to them for me and you.”
