মথি 15
1 তখন জেরুশালেম থেকে কয়েকজন ফরিশী ও শাস্ত্রবিদ যীশুর কাছে এসে জিজ্ঞাসা করল,
Then they come to Jesus from Jerusalem—scribes and Pharisees—saying,
2 “আপনার শিষ্যেরা কেন প্রাচীনদের পরম্পরাগত নিয়ম ভঙ্গ করে? তারা খাবার আগে কেন তাদের হাত ধোয় না?”
“Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they may eat bread.”
3 যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “আর তোমরা কেন তোমাদের পরম্পরাগত নিয়মের দোহাই দিয়ে ঈশ্বরের আদেশ ভঙ্গ করো?
And He answering said to them, “Why also do you transgress the command of God because of your tradition?
4 কারণ ঈশ্বর বলেছেন, ‘তোমার বাবা ও তোমার মাকে সম্মান কোরো,’ এবং ‘যে কেউ তার বাবা অথবা মাকে অভিশাপ দেয়, তার অবশ্যই প্রাণদণ্ড হবে।’
For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death;
5 কিন্তু তোমরা বলো, কেউ যদি তার বাবা বা মাকে বলে, ‘আমার কাছ থেকে তোমরা যে সাহায্য পেতে তা ঈশ্বরের কাছে উপহারস্বরূপ দেওয়া হয়েছে,’
but you say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever you may be profited by me—
6 তাহলে সে তার বাবাকে বা মাকে আর তা দিয়ে সম্মান করবে না। এভাবে তোমরা পরম্পরাগত ঐতিহ্যের নামে ঈশ্বরের বাক্যকে অমান্য করে থাকো।
and he may not honor his father or his mother, and you set aside the command of God because of your tradition.
7 ভণ্ডের দল! যিশাইয় তোমাদের সম্পর্কে সঠিক ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেছেন:
Hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying,
8 “‘এই লোকেরা তাদের ওষ্ঠাধরে আমাকে সম্মান করে, কিন্তু তাদের হৃদয় থাকে আমার থেকে বহুদূরে।
This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and with the lips it honors Me, but their heart is far off from Me;
9 বৃথাই তারা আমার উপাসনা করে; তাদের শিক্ষামালা বিভিন্ন মানুষের শেখানো নিয়মবিধি মাত্র।’”
and in vain they worship Me, teaching teachings—commands of men.”
10 যীশু সকলকে কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “তোমরা শোনো ও বোঝো।
And having called near the multitude, He said to them, “Hear and understand:
11 মানুষের মুখ দিয়ে যা প্রবেশ করে তা তাকে অশুচি করে না, কিন্তু যা তার মুখ দিয়ে বের হয়ে আসে তাই তাকে ‘অশুচি’ করে।”
[it is] not that which is coming into the mouth [that] defiles the man, but that which is coming forth from the mouth, this defiles the man.”
12 তখন শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে বললেন, “আপনি কি জানেন, ফরিশীরা একথা শুনে মনে আঘাত পেয়েছে?”
Then His disciples having come near, said to Him, “Have You known that the Pharisees, having heard the word, were stumbled?”
13 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “যে চারাগাছ আমার স্বর্গস্থ পিতা রোপণ করেননি, তা উপড়ে ফেলা হবে।
And He answering said, “Every plant that My heavenly Father did not plant will be rooted up;
14 ওদের ছেড়ে দাও, ওরা অন্ধ পথপ্রদর্শক। কোনো অন্ধ ব্যক্তি যদি অপর ব্যক্তিকে পথ প্রদর্শন করে তবে উভয়েই গর্তে পড়বে।”
leave them alone, they are guides—blind of blind; and if blind may guide blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
15 পিতর বললেন, “এই রূপকটি আমাদের কাছে ব্যাখ্যা করুন।”
And Peter answering said to Him, “Explain to us this allegory.”
16 যীশু তাদের প্রশ্ন করলেন, “তোমরা কি এখনও এত অবুঝ রয়েছ?
And Jesus said, “Are you also yet without understanding?
17 তোমরা কি দেখতে পাও না, যা কিছু মুখের ভিতর দিয়ে প্রবেশ করে তা পাকস্থলীতে যায় ও তারপর শরীর থেকে বের হয়ে যায়?
Do you not understand that all that is going into the mouth passes into the belly, and is cast forth into the drain?
18 কিন্তু যেসব বিষয় মুখ থেকে বার হয়ে আসে, তা হৃদয় থেকে আসে এবং সেগুলিই কোনো মানুষকে অশুচি করে তোলে।
But the things coming forth from the mouth come forth from the heart, and these defile the man;
19 কারণ মানুষের হৃদয় থেকে উৎপন্ন হয় কুচিন্তা, নরহত্যা, ব্যভিচার, বিবাহ-বহির্ভূত যৌনাচার, চুরি, মিথ্যা সাক্ষ্য, পরনিন্দা।
for out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, whoredoms, thefts, false witnessings, slanders:
20 এগুলিই কোনো মানুষকে অশুচি করে, কিন্তু হাত না ধুয়ে খাবার খেলে সে ‘অশুচি’ হয় না।”
these are the things defiling the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
21 সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করে, যীশু টায়ার ও সীদোন অঞ্চলে চলে গেলেন।
And Jesus having come forth from there, withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon,
22 তারই কাছাকাছি কোনো স্থান থেকে এক কনানীয় নারী তাঁর কাছে এসে চিৎকার করতে লাগল, “প্রভু, দাউদের সন্তান, আমার প্রতি দয়া করুন! আমার মেয়েটি ভূতগ্রস্ত হয়ে ভীষণ কষ্ট পাচ্ছে।”
and behold, a woman, a Canaanite, having come forth from those borders, called to Him, saying, “Deal kindly with me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably demonized.”
23 যীশু তাকে কোনও উত্তর দিলেন না। তাই তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে তাঁকে অনুরোধ জানালেন, “ওকে বিদায় দিন কারণ ও চিৎকার করতে করতে আমাদের পিছনে আসছে।”
And He did not answer her a word; and His disciples having come to Him, were asking Him, saying, “Let her away, because she cries after us”;
24 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “আমাকে কেবলমাত্র ইস্রায়েলের হারানো মেষদের কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছে।”
and He answering said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 সেই নারী এসে তাঁর কাছে নতজানু হয়ে বলল, “প্রভু, আমার উপকার করুন!”
And having come, she was worshiping Him, saying, “Lord, help me”;
26 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “ছেলেমেয়েদের খাবার নিয়ে কুকুরদের দেওয়া সংগত নয়।”
and He answering said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread, and to cast to the little dogs.”
27 সে বলল, “হ্যাঁ প্রভু, কিন্তু কুকুরও তো মনিবের টেবিল থেকে খাবারের যেসব টুকরো পড়ে তা খায়!”
And she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords’ table”;
28 তখন যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “নারী, তোমার বড়োই বিশ্বাস! তোমার অনুরোধ রক্ষা করা হল।” সেই মুহূর্ত থেকে তার মেয়ে সুস্থ হয়ে গেল।
then answering, Jesus said to her, “O woman, great [is] your faith, let it be to you as you will”; and her daughter was healed from that hour.
29 যীশু সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করে গালীল সাগরের তীরে উপস্থিত হলেন। তারপর তিনি এক পাহাড়ের উপরে উঠে বসলেন।
And having departed from there, Jesus came near to the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, He was sitting there,
30 অসংখ্য লোক খোঁড়া, অন্ধ, পঙ্গু, বোবা ও অন্য অনেক অসুস্থ মানুষকে নিয়ে এসে তাঁর পায়ের কাছে ফেলে রাখল। তিনি তাদের সুস্থ করলেন।
and there came to Him great multitudes, having with them lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they cast them at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them,
31 লোকেরা যখন দেখল, বোবারা কথা বলছে, পঙ্গুরা সুস্থ হচ্ছে, যারা খোঁড়া তারা চলতে পারছে ও অন্ধেরা দেখতে পাচ্ছে, তারা বিস্ময়ে হতবাক হল। আর তারা ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করতে লাগল।
so that the multitudes wondered, seeing mute ones speaking, maimed whole, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের তাঁর কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “এই লোকদের প্রতি আমার করুণা হচ্ছে; এরা তিন দিন ধরে আমার সঙ্গে আছে এবং এদের কাছে খাওয়ার জন্য কিছুই নেই। আমি এদের ক্ষুধার্ত অবস্থায় ফেরত পাঠাতে চাই না, হয়তো এরা পথেই অজ্ঞান হয়ে পড়বে।”
And Jesus having called near His disciples, said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because now three days they continue with Me, and they do not have what they may eat; and to let them away fasting I will not, lest they faint in the way.”
33 তাঁর শিষ্যেরা উত্তর দিলেন, “এত লোককে খাওয়ানোর জন্য এই প্রত্যন্ত স্থানে আমরা কোথায় যথেষ্ট খাবার পাব?”
And His disciples say to Him, “From where to us in a wilderness [will we get] so many loaves, as to fill so great a multitude?”
34 যীশু জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমাদের কাছে কতগুলি রুটি আছে?” তাঁরা উত্তর দিলেন, “সাতটি, আর কয়েকটি ছোটো মাছ।”
And Jesus says to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fishes.”
35 তিনি সবাইকে মাটির উপরে বসার আদেশ দিলেন।
And He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the ground,
36 তারপর তিনি সেই সাতটি রুটি ও মাছগুলি নিয়ে ঈশ্বরকে ধন্যবাদ দিলেন। তারপর সেগুলি ভেঙে শিষ্যদের দিলেন ও তারা লোকদের দিলেন।
and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, He broke, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples [gave] to the multitude.
37 সবাই খেয়ে পরিতৃপ্ত হল। পরে শিষ্যেরা অবশিষ্ট রুটির টুকরো সংগ্রহ করে সাতটি ঝুড়ি পূর্ণ করলেন।
And they all ate, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces seven baskets full,
38 যারা খাবার খেয়েছিল, নারী ও শিশু ছাড়া তাদের সংখ্যা ছিল চার হাজার।
and those eating were four thousand men, apart from women and children.
39 যীশু সকলকে বিদায় করার পর নৌকাতে উঠলেন ও মগদনের সীমানায় চলে গেলেন।
And having let away the multitudes, He went into the boat, and came to the borders of Magdala.
