লুক 7
1 যীশু সকলের সামনে এই সমস্ত কথা বলার পর কফরনাহূমে ফিরে গেলেন।
When he'd finished speaking to the people, Jesus left for Capernaum.
2 সেখানে এক শত-সেনাপতির দাস, যে ছিল তাঁর প্রিয়পাত্র, রোগে মৃতপ্রায় হয়ে পড়েছিল।
A centurion lived there who had a servant he greatly valued who was sick and was about to die.
3 শত-সেনাপতি যীশুর কথা শুনেছিলেন। তিনি ইহুদি সম্প্রদায়ের কয়েকজন প্রাচীনকে যীশুর কাছে পাঠিয়ে অনুরোধ জানালেন, তিনি যেন এসে তাঁর দাসকে সুস্থ করেন।
When he heard about Jesus, the centurion sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4 তাঁরা যীশুর কাছে এসে তাঁকে কাতর মিনতি জানালেন, “এই ব্যক্তি আপনার সাহায্য পাওয়ার যোগ্য,
When the elders came to Jesus, they pleaded with him strongly, saying, “Please come and do what he asks. He deserves your help,
5 কারণ তিনি আমাদের জাতিকে ভালোবাসেন, আর আমাদের সমাজভবনটি নির্মাণ করে দিয়েছেন।”
because he loves our people and he built a synagogue for us.”
6 তাই যীশু তাঁদের সঙ্গে গেলেন। যীশু শত-সেনাপতির বাড়ির কাছাকাছি এলে, তিনি তাঁর কয়েকজন বন্ধুকে যীশুর কাছে বলে পাঠালেন, “প্রভু, আপনি নিজে কষ্ট করবেন না। আপনি আমার বাড়িতে আসবেন আমি এমন যোগ্য নই।
Jesus went with them and as they approached the house, the centurion sent some friends to Jesus to tell him, “Lord, please don't trouble yourself by coming into my house, because I'm not worthy of that.
7 তাই আমি নিজেকেও আপনার কাছে যাওয়ার যোগ্য মনে করিনি। আপনি কেবলমাত্র মুখে বলুন, তাতেই আমার দাস সুস্থ হবে।
I didn't even think that I was worthy to come and see you. Just give the command, and my servant will be healed.
8 কারণ আমিও কর্তৃত্বের অধীন একজন মানুষ এবং সৈন্যরা আমার অধীন। আমি তাদের একজনকে ‘যাও’ বললে সে যায়, অপরজনকে ‘এসো’ বললে সে আসে, আবার আমার দাসকে ‘এই কাজটি করো,’ বললে সে তা করে।”
For I'm under the authority of my superior officers, and I have soldiers under my authority too. I command one to go and he goes, another to come and he comes. I command my servant to do something and he does it.”
9 একথা শুনে যীশু তার সম্পর্কে চমৎকৃত হলেন। তাঁকে যারা অনুসরণ করছিলেন তাদের দিকে ফিরে তিনি বললেন, “আমি তোমাদের বলছি, ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যেও আমি এমন প্রগাঢ় বিশ্বাস দেখতে পাইনি।”
When Jesus heard this he was astounded. He turned to the crowd that was following him, and said, “I tell you, I haven't found trust like this even in Israel.”
10 তখন যে লোকদের তাঁর কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছিল, তাঁরা বাড়ি ফিরে গিয়ে দেখলেন, দাসটি সুস্থ হয়ে উঠেছে।
Then the centurion's friends returned to the house and found the servant in good health.
11 এর কিছুকাল পরেই যীশু নায়িন নামে এক নগরে গেলেন। তাঁর শিষ্যেরা ও বিস্তর লোক তাঁর সঙ্গী হল।
Soon after Jesus went to a town called Nain, accompanied by his disciples and a large crowd.
12 তিনি নগরদ্বারের কাছে এসে পৌঁছালেন। তখন দেখলেন, লোকেরা এক মৃত ব্যক্তিকে বয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। তার মা ছিল বিধবা এবং সে ছিল তার একমাত্র পুত্র। নগরের বিস্তর লোক তাদের সঙ্গে ছিল।
As he approached the town gate a funeral procession was coming the other way. The man who had died was the only son of a widow, and a sizeable crowd from the town was with her.
13 তাকে দেখে প্রভুর হৃদয় তার প্রতি করুণায় ভরে উঠল। তিনি তাকে বললেন, “কেঁদো না।”
When the Lord saw her he was filled with compassion for her. “Don't cry,” he told her.
14 তারপর তিনি এগিয়ে গিয়ে শবদেহ রাখা খাট স্পর্শ করলেন। আর যারা বাহক তারা দাঁড়িয়ে পড়ল। তিনি বললেন, “ওহে যুবক, আমি তোমাকে বলছি, তুমি ওঠো!”
Jesus went over to the coffin and touched it, and the pall-bearers stopped. Jesus said, “Young man, I tell you, get up.”
15 মৃত মানুষটি উঠে বসে কথা বলতে লাগল। যীশু তাকে তার মায়ের কাছে ফিরিয়ে দিলেন।
The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 এই দেখে তারা সকলে ভয়ে ও ভক্তিতে অভিভূত হল, ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করতে লাগল এবং তারা বলতে লাগল, “আমাদের মধ্যে এক মহান ভাববাদীর উদয় হয়েছে। ঈশ্বর তাঁর প্রজাদের সাহায্য করতে এসেছেন।”
A sense of awe filled everyone there and they praised God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and “God has visited his people.”
17 যীশুর এই কীর্তির কথা যিহূদিয়ার সর্বত্র এবং সন্নিহিত অঞ্চলগুলিতে ছড়িয়ে পড়ল।
News about Jesus spread throughout Judea, and all around.
18 যোহনের শিষ্যেরা এই সমস্ত কথা তাঁকে জানাল।
The disciples of John told John about all this.
19 তিনি তাদের দুজনকে ডেকে প্রভুর কাছে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে পাঠালেন, “যাঁর আসার কথা ছিল আপনিই কি তিনি না আমরা অন্য কারও প্রতীক্ষায় থাকব?”
John called two of his disciples and told them to go and see Jesus, and ask, “Are you the one we've been expecting, or should we wait for someone else?”
20 তারা যখন যীশুর কাছে এল, তারা বলল, “বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহন আপনার কাছে আমাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করতে পাঠিয়েছেন, ‘যে মশীহের আবির্ভাবের কথা ছিল, সে কি আপনি, না আমরা অন্য কারও প্রতীক্ষায় থাকব?’”
When they came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you, to ask you, ‘Are you the one we've been expecting or should we wait for someone else?’”
21 ঠিক সেই সময়ে যীশু বহু রোগগ্রস্ত, পীড়িত ও মন্দ-আত্মাগ্রস্ত ব্যক্তিদের সুস্থ করছিলেন; বহু অন্ধকেও দৃষ্টিশক্তি দান করছিলেন।
At that very moment Jesus was healing many people of their diseases, illnesses, evil spirits, and making the blind to see.
22 তাই তিনি সেই বার্তাবহদের উত্তর দিলেন, “তোমরা যা দেখলে, যা শুনলে, ফিরে গিয়ে সেসব যোহনকে জানাও। যারা অন্ধ তারা দৃষ্টি পাচ্ছে, যারা খোঁড়া তারা চলতে পারছে, যারা কুষ্ঠরোগী তারা শুচিশুদ্ধ হচ্ছে, যারা কালা তারা শুনতে পাচ্ছে, যারা মৃত তারা উত্থাপিত হচ্ছে ও যারা দরিদ্র তাদের কাছে সুসমাচার প্রচারিত হচ্ছে।
Jesus answered John's disciples, “Go and tell John what you've seen and heard. The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers cured, the deaf hear, the dead raised back to life, the poor are told the good news.
23 আর ধন্য সেই ব্যক্তি যে আমার কারণে বাধা পায় না।”
How good it is for those who are not offended because of me!”
24 যোহনের বার্তাবাহকেরা চলে গেলে, যীশু সকলের কাছে যোহনের সম্পর্কে বলতে লাগলেন, “তোমরা মরুপ্রান্তরে কী দেখতে গিয়েছিলে? বাতাসে দুলছে এমন কোনো নলখাগড়া?
After the messengers from John had left, Jesus began telling the crowd, “About John: what did you expect to see when you went out to meet him in the desert? Some reed blown about by the wind?
25 তা না হলে, তোমরা কী দেখতে গিয়েছিলে? মোলায়েম পোশাক পরা কোনো মানুষকে? তা নয়, যারা মূল্যবান পোশাক পরে, বিলাসবহুল জীবনযাপন করে, তারা তো রাজপ্রাসাদে থাকে।
Did you come looking for a man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who have stylish clothes and live in luxury are found in palaces.
26 কিন্তু তোমরা কী দেখতে গিয়েছিলে? কোনো ভাববাদীকে? হ্যাঁ, আমি তোমাদের বলি, ভাববাদীর চেয়েও মহত্তর একজনকে।
Were you looking for a prophet? Yes he is, and I'm telling you, he's much more than a prophet.
27 ইনিই সেই ব্যক্তি, যাঁর সম্পর্কে লেখা আছে: “‘আমি আমার বার্তাবাহককে তোমার আগে পাঠাব, যে তোমার আগে তোমার জন্য পথ প্রস্তুত করবে।’
It was written about him in Scripture: ‘Look, I'm sending my messenger to go before you to prepare your way.’
28 আমি তোমাদের বলছি, নারীর গর্ভে জন্মেছে এমন ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে যোহনের চেয়ে মহান আর কেউই নেই; তবুও ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যে যে নগণ্যতম সেও তাঁর চেয়ে মহান।”
I tell you, no one born of women is greater than John, but even the most unimportant person in God's kingdom is greater than he is!”
29 সব লোক, এমনকি, কর আদায়কারীরাও, যীশুর শিক্ষা শুনে ঈশ্বরের পথকে সঠিক বলে স্বীকার করল, কারণ তারা বুঝতে পারল, যোহনের কাছে বাপ্তিষ্ম নিয়ে তারা ভুল করেনি।
When they heard this, all of them—even the tax collectors—followed what God said was good and right, for they had been baptized by John.
30 কিন্তু ফরিশীরা ও শাস্ত্রবিদরা তাদের বিষয়ে ঈশ্বরের পরিকল্পনা অগ্রাহ্য করল, কারণ তারা যোহনের কাছে বাপ্তিষ্ম গ্রহণ করেনি।
But the Pharisees and the religious teachers rejected what God wanted them to do, for they had refused to be baptized by John.
31 “তাহলে, কার সঙ্গে আমি এই প্রজন্মের লোকদের তুলনা করতে পারি? তারা কাদের মতো?
“What shall I compare these people to?” asked Jesus. “What are they like?
32 তারা সেইসব ছেলেমেয়ের মতো, যারা হাটেবাজারে বসে পরস্পরকে সম্বোধন করে বলে, “‘আমরা তোমাদের জন্য বাঁশি বাজালাম, কিন্তু তোমরা নৃত্য করলে না; আমরা শোকগাথা গাইলাম, কিন্তু তোমরা বিলাপ করলে না।’
They're like children sitting in the market who tell one other, ‘We played the flute for you but you didn't dance; we sang sad songs but you didn't cry.’
33 বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহন এসে রুটি খেলেন না বা দ্রাক্ষারস পান করলেন না, কিন্তু তোমরা বললে, ‘তিনি ভূতগ্রস্ত।’
When John the Baptist came he didn't eat bread or drink wine, but you say he's demon-possessed.
34 মনুষ্যপুত্র এলেন, খাওয়াদাওয়া করলেন, কিন্তু তোমরা বললে, ‘এই দেখো একজন পেটুক ও মদ্যপ, কর আদায়কারী ও পাপীদের বন্ধু।’
Now the Son of man is here, and eats and drinks with people, but you say, ‘Look, he spends his time eating too much food and drinking too much wine. Plus he's a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’
35 কিন্তু প্রজ্ঞা তার অনুসরণকারীদের আচরণের দ্বারাই সত্য বলে প্রমাণিত হয়।”
However, God's wise ways are proved right by all who follow him!”
36 আর একজন ফরিশী আহার করার জন্য যীশুকে নিমন্ত্রণ করল। যীশু তার বাড়িতে গেলেন এবং খাবারের সময় আসনে হেলান দিয়ে বসলেন।
One of the Pharisees invited Jesus to come and eat with him. Jesus went to the Pharisee's house and sat down to the meal.
37 সেই নগরে একজন পাপীষ্ঠা নারী ছিল। যীশু ফরিশীর বাড়িতে খাবার খাচ্ছেন শুনে, সে একটি শ্বেতস্ফটিকের পাত্রে সুগন্ধি তেল নিয়ে এল।
A woman who was a sinner in that town found out that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house. She went there, carrying an alabaster jar of perfume.
38 সে যীশুর পিছনে তাঁর পায়ের কাছে দাঁড়িয়ে চোখের জলে তাঁর পা-দুটি ভিজিয়ে দিতে লাগল। তারপর সে তার চুল দিয়ে তাঁর পা দুটিকে মুছিয়ে দিয়ে চুম্বন করল এবং সেই সুগন্ধি তেল ঢেলে দিল।
She kneeled beside Jesus and with her tears wet his feet, and dried them with her hair. She kissed his feet, and then she poured the perfume over them.
39 এই ঘটনা দেখে আমন্ত্রণকর্তা ফরিশী মনে মনে ভাবল, “এই লোকটি যদি ভাববাদী হত, তাহলে বুঝতে পারত, কে তাঁকে স্পর্শ করছে এবং সে কী প্রকৃতির নারী! সে তো এক পাপীষ্ঠা!”
When the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this he said to himself, “If this man was really a prophet he would know who this woman was who's touching him, and what kind of person she was—that she's a sinner!”
40 যীশু তাকে উত্তর দিলেন, “শিমোন, তোমাকে আমার কিছু বলার আছে।” শিমোন বলল, “গুরুমহাশয়, বলুন।”
Jesus spoke up and said, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, Teacher,” he responded.
41 “এক মহাজনের কাছে দুজন ব্যক্তি ঋণ নিয়েছিল। একজন নিয়েছিল পাঁচশো দিনার, অন্যজন পঞ্চাশ দিনার।
“Once two people were in debt to a money-lender. One owed five hundred denarii, the other only fifty.
42 তাদের কারোরই সেই পরিমাণ অর্থ ফেরত দেওয়ার ক্ষমতা ছিল না, তাই তিনি দুজনেরই ঋণ মকুব করে দিলেন। এখন তাদের মধ্যে কে তাঁকে বেশি ভালোবাসবে?”
Neither of them could repay him, so he forgave the debts. Which one will love him the most?”
43 শিমোন উত্তর দিল, “আমার মনে হয়, যার বেশি ঋণ মকুব করা হয়েছিল, সেই।” যীশু বললেন, “তুমি যথার্থ বিচার করেছ।”
“The one he forgave the most, I would think,” Simon answered. “You're absolutely right,” said Jesus.
44 তারপর তিনি সেই নারীর দিকে ফিরে শিমোনকে বললেন, “তুমি এই স্ত্রীলোককে দেখতে পাচ্ছ, আমি তোমার বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করলাম, অথচ তুমি আমাকে পা-ধোওয়ার জল দিলে না। কিন্তু ও তার চোখের জলে আমার পা ভিজিয়ে দিল, আর তার চুল দিয়ে তা মুছিয়ে দিল।
Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “You see this woman? When I came into your house, you didn't give me water to wash my feet. But she has washed my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.
45 তুমি আমাকে একবারও চুম্বন করলে না, কিন্তু আমি এই বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করার সময় থেকেই এই নারী আমার পা-দুখানি চুম্বন করা থেকে বিরত হয়নি।
You didn't give me a kiss, but since I came in she hasn't stopped kissing my feet.
46 তুমি আমার মাথায় তেল দিয়ে অভিষেক করলে না, কিন্তু ও আমার পায়ে সুগন্ধি তেল ঢেলে অভিষেক করল।
You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she poured perfume over my feet.
47 তাই আমি তোমাকে বলছি, যেহেতু তার অজস্র পাপ ক্ষমা করা হয়েছে, সে আমাকে বেশি ভালোবেসেছে। কিন্তু যাকে অল্প ক্ষমা করা হয়, সে অল্পই ভালোবাসে।”
So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—that's why she loves so much. But whoever is forgiven little, only loves a little.”
48 তারপর যীশু সেই নারীকে বললেন, “তোমার সব পাপ ক্ষমা করা হয়েছে।”
Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins have been forgiven.”
49 অন্য অতিথিরা নিজেদের মধ্যে বলাবলি করতে লাগল “ইনি কে, যে পাপও ক্ষমা করেন?”
Those who were sitting eating with him began talking among themselves, saying, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 যীশু সেই নারীকে বললেন, “তোমার বিশ্বাসই তোমাকে পরিত্রাণ দিয়েছে, শান্তিতে চলে যাও।”
But Jesus told the woman, “Your trust has saved you, go in peace.”
