বিচারকর্ত্তৃগণের বিবরণ 2
1 সদাপ্রভুর দূত গিল্গল থেকে বোখীমে উঠে গিয়ে বললেন, “আমি মিশর থেকে তোমাদের বের করে এনেছি এবং যে দেশ দেওয়ার শপথ আমি তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে করেছিলাম, সেই দেশে তোমাদের নিয়ে এসেছি। আমি বলেছিলাম, ‘আমি তোমাদের কাছে আমার নিয়মটি কখনোই ভঙ্গ করব না,
And an Angel of the Lord came vp from Gilgal to Bochim, and sayd, I made you to go vp out of Egypt, and haue brought you vnto the land which I had sworne vnto your fathers, and sayd, I wil neuer breake my couenant with you.
2 আর তোমরাও এই দেশের অধিবাসীদের সঙ্গে কোনও নিয়ম স্থির করবে না, কিন্তু তোমরা তাদের যজ্ঞবেদিগুলি ভেঙে ফেলবে।’ অথচ তোমরা আমার অবাধ্য হয়েছ। তোমরা কেন এরকম করলে?
Ye also shall make no couenant with the inhabitants of this land, but shall breake downe their altars: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce. Why haue ye done this?
3 আর আমি এও বলেছি, ‘আমি তোমাদের সামনে থেকে তাদের বিতাড়িত করব না; তারা তোমাদের জন্য জালে পরিণত হবে, এবং তাদের দেবতারা তোমাদের কাছে ফাঁদে পরিণত হবে।’”
Wherefore, I sayd also, I wil not cast them out before you, but they shalbe as thornes vnto your sides, and their gods shalbe your destruction.
4 সদাপ্রভুর দূত ইস্রায়েলীদের কাছে এসব কথা বলাতে, তারা তারস্বরে কেঁদে ফেলল,
And when the Angel of the Lord spake these wordes vnto all the children of Israel, the people lift vp their voyce, and wept.
5 এবং তারা সেই স্থানটির নাম রাখল বোখীম। সেখানে তারা সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে বলি উৎসর্গ করল।
Therefore they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifices there vnto the Lord.
6 যিহোশূয় ইস্রায়েলীদের বিদায় করে দেওয়ার পর, তারা প্রত্যেকে তাদের নিজস্ব অধিকার অনুসারে, দেশ দখল করতে গেল।
Now when Ioshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went euery man into his inheritance, to possesse the land.
7 লোকজন যিহোশূয়ের জীবনকালে ও সেইসব প্রাচীনের জীবনকালে আগাগোড়াই সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করল, যারা যিহোশূয়ের মৃত্যুর পরও জীবিত ছিলেন ও ইস্রায়েলের জন্য সদাপ্রভু যেসব মহান কাজ করেছিলেন, সেগুলি দেখেছিলেন।
And the people had serued the Lord al the dayes of Ioshua, and all the dayes of the Elders that outliued Ioshua, which had seene all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
8 নূনের ছেলে, সদাপ্রভুর দাস যিহোশূয় 110 বছর বয়সে মারা গেলেন।
But Ioshua the sonne of Nun the seruant of the Lord dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yeeres olde:
9 আর তারা তাঁকে গাশ পর্বতের উত্তরে, ইফ্রয়িমের পার্বত্য প্রদেশের তিম্নৎ-হেরসে, তাঁর নিজস্ব অধিকার-ভূমিতে কবর দিল।
And they buryed him in the coastes of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.
10 সেই প্রজন্মের সমস্ত লোকজন তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে একত্রিত হওয়ার পর, অপর এক প্রজন্ম বেড়ে উঠল, যারা না চিনত সদাপ্রভুকে, না জানত তিনি ইস্রায়েলের জন্য কী কী করেছিলেন।
And so all that generation was gathered vnto their fathers, and another generation arose after them, which neither knewe the Lord, nor yet the works, which he had done for Israel.
11 পরে ইস্রায়েলীরা সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা মন্দ তাই করল এবং বায়াল-দেবতাদের সেবা করল।
Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim,
12 তারা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর, সেই সদাপ্রভুকে পরিত্যাগ করল, যিনি মিশর থেকে তাদের বের করে এনেছিলেন। তারা তাদের চারপাশে বসবাসকারী লোকদের আরাধ্য বিভিন্ন দেবতাদের অনুগামী হল এবং তাদের আরাধনা করতে লাগল। তারা সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ জাগিয়ে তুলল
And forsooke ye Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and followed other gods, euen the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed vnto them, and prouoked the Lord to anger.
13 কারণ তারা তাঁকে পরিত্যাগ করল এবং বায়াল-দেবতার ও অষ্টারোৎ দেবীদের সেবা করল।
So they forsooke the Lord, and serued Baal, and Ashtaroth.
14 ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধের বশবর্তী হয়ে সদাপ্রভু তাদের সেই আক্রমণকারীদের হাতে সমর্পণ করলেন, যারা তাদের উপরে লুঠতরাজ চালিয়েছিল। তিনি তাদের চারপাশের সেই শত্রুদের হাতে তাদের বিক্রি করে দিলেন, যাদের প্রতিরোধ তারা আর করে উঠতে পারেনি।
And the wrath of the Lord was hote against Israel, and he deliuered them into the hands of spoylers, that spoyled them, and he sold them into the handes of their enemies rounde about them, so that they could no longer stande before their enemies.
15 যখনই ইস্রায়েল যুদ্ধযাত্রা করতে যেত, তাদের পরাজিত করার জন্য সদাপ্রভুর হাত তাদের বিরুদ্ধাচারী হত, ঠিক যেভাবে তিনি তাদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলেন। তাদের উপরে চরম দুর্দশা নেমে এল।
Whithersoeuer they went out, the hand of the Lord was sore against them, as ye Lord had sayd, and as the Lord had sworne vnto them: so he punished them sore.
16 তখন সদাপ্রভু সেই বিচারকদের উত্থাপিত করলেন, যারা আক্রমণকারীদের হাত থেকে তাদের রক্ষা করেছিলেন।
Notwithstanding, the Lord raysed vp Iudges, which deliuered them out of the hands of their oppressours.
17 তবুও তারা তাদের বিচারকদের কথায় কর্ণপাত করত না কিন্তু অন্যান্য দেবতাদের প্রতি আকৃষ্ট হয়ে বেশ্যাবৃত্তিতে নেমে তাদের আরাধনা করত। তারা দ্রুত তাদের সেই পূর্বপুরুষদের পথ থেকে ফিরে গেল, যারা সদাপ্রভুর আদেশগুলির প্রতি বাধ্য হয়ে চলতেন।
But yet they would not obey their Iudges: for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandements of the Lord: they did not so.
18 সদাপ্রভু যখনই তাদের জন্য কোনও বিচারক উত্থাপিত করতেন, তিনি সেই বিচারকের সহায় হতেন এবং যতদিন সেই বিচারক জীবিত থাকতেন ততদিন সদাপ্রভু তাদের শত্রুদের হাত থেকে তাদের রক্ষা করতেন; যেহেতু তাদের শোষণের কারণে ও নির্যাতনকারীদের অধীনে তাদের জীবনে উৎপন্ন কাতরোক্তির কারণে সদাপ্রভু করুণাবিষ্ট হতেন।
And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)
19 কিন্তু সেই বিচারক মারা গেলেই, লোকেরা আবার অন্যান্য দেবতাদের অনুগামী হয়ে, তাদের সেবা ও আরাধনা করার মাধ্যমে তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের থেকেও বেশি পরিমাণে কলুষিত হয়ে বিপথগামী হয়ে পড়ত। তারা তাদের মন্দ অভ্যাস ও অনমনীয় স্বভাব ত্যাগ করতে চাইত না।
Yet when the Iudge was dead, they returned, and did worse then their fathers, in following other gods to serue them and worshippe them: they ceased not from their owne inuentions, nor from their rebellious way.
20 অতএব সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের উপরে প্রচণ্ড ক্রুদ্ধ হয়ে বললেন, “যেহেতু এই জাতি সেই নিয়মটি ভঙ্গ করেছে, যা আমি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের জন্য নিরূপিত করেছিলাম এবং যেহেতু আমার কথায় তারা কর্ণপাত করেনি,
Wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sayd, Because this people hath transgressed my couenant, which I commaded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voyce,
21 তাই আমি আর সেইসব জাতির মধ্যে কোনো জাতিকেই তাদের সামনে থেকে বিতাড়িত করব না, যিহোশূয় মারা যাওয়ার সময় যাদের অবশিষ্ট রেখে গিয়েছিল।
Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the nations, which Ioshua left when he dyed,
22 ইস্রায়েলকে পরীক্ষা করার জন্য ও তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মতো তারা সদাপ্রভুর পথে চলে তাঁর আজ্ঞা পালন করছে কি না তা দেখার জন্য আমি এই জাতিকে ব্যবহার করব।”
That through them I may proue Israel, whether they wil keepe the way of the Lord, to walke therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
23 সদাপ্রভু সেইসব জাতিকে সেখানে থাকতে দিলেন; তিনি যিহোশূয়ের হাতে তাদের সমর্পণ করার দ্বারা অবিলম্বে তাদের বিতাড়িত করলেন না।
So the Lord left those nations, and droue them not out immediatly, neither deliuered them into the hand of Ioshua.
