1 গোষ্ঠী অনুসারে যিহূদা বংশের জন্য বরাদ্দ অংশ নিচের দিকে ইদোমের এলাকা পর্যন্ত, চূড়ান্ত দক্ষিণে সীন মরুভূমি পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত হল।

Now the allotment for the clans of the tribe of Judah extended to the border of Edom, to the Wilderness of Zin at the extreme southern boundary:

2 তাদের দক্ষিণ সীমানা মরুসাগরের দক্ষিণপ্রান্তে অবস্থিত উপসাগর থেকে শুরু হয়ে,

Their southern border started at the bay on the southern tip of the Salt Sea,

3 বৃশ্চিক-গিরিপথ অতিক্রম করে, সীন পর্যন্ত গিয়ে ও কাদেশ-বর্ণেয়র দক্ষিণে গিয়ে পৌঁছাল। পরে সেই সীমানা হিষ্রোণ পেরিয়ে অদ্দরের দিকে উঠে গেল ও কর্কা পর্যন্ত ঘুরে গেল।

proceeded south of the Ascent of Akrabbim, continued on to Zin, went over to the south of Kadesh-barnea, ran past Hezron up to Addar, and curved toward Karka.

4 পরে তা অস্‌মোন হয়ে, মিশরের নির্ঝরিণীতে যুক্ত হয়ে ভূমধ্যসাগরে গিয়ে শেষ হল। এই হল তাদের দক্ষিণ সীমানা।

It proceeded to Azmon, joined the Brook of Egypt, and ended at the Sea. This was their southern border.

5 পূর্ব সীমানা হল জর্ডনের মোহনা হয়ে মরুসাগর। উত্তর সীমানা জর্ডনের মোহনায় অবস্থিত উপসাগর থেকে শুরু হয়ে,

The eastern border was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan. The northern border started from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan,

6 বেথ-হগ্লা পর্যন্ত উঠে গিয়ে বেথ-অরাবার উত্তর দিক ঘেঁসে রূবেণের সন্তান বোহনের পাথর পর্যন্ত পৌঁছাল।

went up to Beth-hoglah, proceeded north of Beth-arabah, and went up to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

7 সেই সীমানা এরপর আখোর উপত্যকা থেকে দবীর পর্যন্ত উঠে গিয়ে উত্তর দিকে সেই গিল্‌গলে বাঁক নিল, যা সেই গিরিখাতের দক্ষিণে অবস্থিত অদুম্মীম গিরিপথের মুখোমুখি অবস্থিত। তা আরও এগিয়ে ঐন-শেমশের জলাশয়ের গা ঘেঁসে ঐন-রোগেল পর্যন্ত নেমে এল।

Then the border went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, turning north to Gilgal, which faces the Ascent of Adummim south of the ravine. It continued along the waters of En-shemesh and came out at En-rogel.

8 পরে তা বিন-হিন্নোম উপত্যকা দিয়ে উঠে যিবূষীয় নগরের (অর্থাৎ, জেরুশালেমের) দক্ষিণ দিকের ঢালে পৌঁছাল। সেখান থেকে তা রফায়ীম উপত্যকার উত্তর প্রান্তে অবস্থিত হিন্নোম উপত্যকার পশ্চিমী পর্বতচূড়ার দিকে উঠে গেল।

From there the border went up the Valley of Hinnom along the southern slope of the Jebusites (that is, Jerusalem) and ascended to the top of the hill that faces the Valley of Hinnom on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.

9 পর্বতচূড়া থেকে সেই সীমানা নিপ্তোহের জলরাশির উৎসের দিকে এগিয়ে গিয়ে, ইফ্রোণ পর্বতের নগরগুলিতে বের হল এবং বালার (অর্থাৎ, কিরিয়ৎ-যিয়ারীমের) দিকে নেমে গেল।

From the hilltop the border curved to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron, and then bent around toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).

10 পরে তা পশ্চিমদিকে বাঁক নিয়ে বালা থেকে সেয়ীর পর্বতের দিকে গিয়ে, যিয়ারীম পর্বতের (অর্থাৎ, কসালোনের) উত্তরপ্রান্তের ঢাল বেয়ে বেত-শেমশ পর্যন্ত গেল ও তিম্না অতিক্রম করল।

The border curled westward from Baalah to Mount Seir, ran along the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and crossed to Timnah.

11 তা ইক্রোণের উত্তরপ্রান্তের ঢালের দিকে গিয়ে, শিক্করোণের দিকে ফিরল, পরে বালা পর্বত অতিক্রম করে যব্‌নিয়েলে পৌঁছাল। সীমানাটি সমুদ্রে গিয়ে শেষ হল।

Then it went out to the northern slope of Ekron, curved toward Shikkeron, proceeded to Mount Baalah, went on to Jabneel, and ended at the Sea.

12 পশ্চিম সীমানা হল ভূমধ্যসাগরের উপকূল এলাকা। গোষ্ঠী অনুসারে এই হল যিহূদা সন্তানদের চারপাশের সীমানা।

And the western border was the coastline of the Great Sea. These are the boundaries around the clans of the descendants of Judah.

13 তাঁর প্রতি দত্ত সদাপ্রভুর আদেশানুসারে যিহোশূয় যিফূন্নির ছেলে কালেবকে যিহূদায় একটি অংশ—কিরিয়ৎ-অর্ব, অর্থাৎ, হিব্রোণ দিলেন। (অর্ব ছিলেন অনাকের পূর্বপুরুষ)

According to the LORD’s command to him, Joshua gave Caleb son of Jephunneh a portion among the sons of Judah—Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

14 হিব্রোণ থেকে কালেব তিন অনাকীয়কে—অনাকের ছেলে শেশয়, অহীমান ও তল্‌ময়কে তাড়িয়ে দিলেন।

And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak—the descendants of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15 সেখান থেকে তিনি দবীরে বসবাসকারী লোকদের বিরুদ্ধে কুচকাওয়াজ করে এগিয়ে গেলেন (দবীরের পূর্বতন নাম ছিল কিরিয়ৎ-সেফর)

From there he marched against the inhabitants of Debir (formerly known as Kiriath-sepher).

16 আর কালেব বললেন, “যে ব্যক্তি কিরিয়ৎ-সেফর আক্রমণ করে তা নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনবে, আমি তার সঙ্গে আমার মেয়ে অক্‌ষার বিয়ে দেব।”

And Caleb said, “To the man who strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage.”

17 কালেবের ভাই, কনসের ছেলে অৎনীয়েল সেটি দখল করলেন; অতএব কালেব তাঁর মেয়ে অক্‌ষার সঙ্গে অৎনীয়েলের বিয়ে দিলেন।

So Othniel son of Caleb’s brother Kenaz captured the city, and Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.

18 একদিন অক্‌ষা অৎনীয়েলের কাছে এসে তাঁকে প্ররোচিত করলেন যেন তিনি তাঁর বাবার কাছে একটি ক্ষেতজমি চেয়ে নেন। অক্‌ষা তাঁর গাধার পিঠ থেকে নামার পর, কালেব তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমি তোমার জন্য কী করতে পারি?”

One day Acsah came to Othniel and urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you desire?”

19 তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “আমার প্রতি বিশেষ এক অনুগ্রহ দেখান। আপনি যেহেতু নেগেভে আমাকে জমি দিয়েছেন, জলের উৎসগুলিও আমাকে দিন।” অতএব কালেব উচ্চতর ও নিম্নতর জলের উৎসগুলি তাঁকে দিলেন।

“Give me a blessing,” she answered. “Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water as well.” So Caleb gave her both the upper and lower springs.

20 গোষ্ঠী অনুসারে, এই হল যিহূদা বংশের উত্তরাধিকার:

This is the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Judah.

These were the southernmost cities of the tribe of Judah in the Negev toward the border of Edom: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,

Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,

23 কেদশ, হাৎসোর, যিৎনন,

Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,

24 সীফ, টেলম, বালোৎ,

Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,

25 হাৎসোর-হদত্তা, কিরিয়োৎ-হিষ্রোণ (অর্থাৎ, হাৎসোর),

Hazor-hadattah, Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor),

26 অমাম, শমা, মোলাদা,

Amam, Shema, Moladah,

Hazar-gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-pelet,

32 লবায়োৎ, শিল্‌হীম, ঐন্ ও রিম্মোণ—মোট উনত্রিশটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon—twenty-nine cities in all, along with their villages.

33 পশ্চিমী পর্বতের পাদদেশে: ইষ্টায়োল, সরা, অশ্‌না,

These were in the foothills: Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,

34 সানোহ, ঐন-গন্নীম, তপূহ, ঐনম,

Zanoah, En-gannim, Tappuah, Enam,

35 যর্মুৎ, অদুল্লম, সোখো, অসেকা,

Jarmuth, Adullam, Socoh, Azekah,

36 শারয়িম, অদীথয়িম ও গদেরা—চোদ্দোটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Shaaraim, Adithaim, and Gederah (or Gederothaim)—fourteen cities, along with their villages.

37 সনান, হদাশা, মিগ্দল্-গাদ,

Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal-gad,

38 দিলিয়ন, মিস্‌পী, যক্তেল,

Dilan, Mizpeh, Joktheel,

39 লাখীশ, বস্কৎ, ইগ্লোন,

Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon,

40 কব্বন, লহমম, কিৎলিশ,

Cabbon, Lahmas, Chitlish,

41 গদেরোৎ, বেথ-দাগোন, নয়মা ও মক্কেদা—ষোলোটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Gederoth, Beth-dagon, Naamah, and Makkedah—sixteen cities, along with their villages.

42 লিব্‌না, এথর, আশন,

Libnah, Ether, Ashan,

43 যিপ্তহ, অশ্‌না, নৎসীব,

Iphtah, Ashnah, Nezib,

44 কিয়ীলা, অক্‌ষীব ও মারেশা—নয়টি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Keilah, Achzib, and Mareshah—nine cities, along with their villages.

45 ইক্রোণ ও তার চারপাশের উপনিবেশ ও গ্রামগুলি;

Ekron, with its towns and villages;

46 ইক্রোণের পশ্চিমদিকে, অস্‌দোদের পার্শ্ববর্তী সব উপনগর, সেই সঙ্গে সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি;

from Ekron to the sea, all the cities near Ashdod, along with their villages;

47 অস্‌দোদ ও তার চারপাশের উপনিবেশ ও গ্রামগুলি; এবং গাজা, এবং মিশরের নির্ঝরিণী ও ভূমধ্যসাগরের উপকূল বরাবর গড়ে ওঠা সেটির উপনিবেশ ও গ্রামগুলি।

Ashdod, with its towns and villages; Gaza, with its towns and villages, as far as the Brook of Egypt and the coastline of the Great Sea.

48 পার্বত্য প্রদেশে: শামীর, যত্তীর, সোখো,

These were in the hill country: Shamir, Jattir, Socoh,

49 দন্না, কিরিয়ৎ-সন্না (অর্থাৎ, দবীর),

Dannah, Kiriath-sannah (that is, Debir),

50 অনাব, ইষ্টিমোয়, আনীম,

Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim,

51 গোশন, হোলোন ও গীলো—এগারোটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Goshen, Holon, and Giloh—eleven cities, along with their villages.

52 অরাব, দূমা, ইশিয়ন,

Arab, Dumah, Eshan,

53 যানীম, বেথ-তপূহ, অফেকা,

Janim, Beth-tappuah, Aphekah,

54 হুমটা, কিরিয়ৎ-অর্ব (অর্থাৎ, হিব্রোণ) ও সীয়োর—নয়টি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Humtah, Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), and Zior—nine cities, along with their villages.

55 মায়োন, কর্মিল, সীফ, যুটা,

Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,

56 যিষ্রিয়েল, যক্‌দিয়াম, সানোহ,

Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,

57 কয়িন, গিবিয়া ও তিম্না—দশটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah—ten cities, along with their villages.

58 হল্‌হূল, বেত-সূর, গদোর,

Halhul, Beth-zur, Gedor,

59 মারৎ, বেথ-অনোৎ ও ইল্‌তকোন—ছয়টি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Maarath, Beth-anoth, and Eltekon—six cities, along with their villages.

60 কিরিয়ৎ-বাল (অর্থাৎ, কিরিয়ৎ-যিয়ারীম) ও রব্বা—দুটি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah—two cities, along with their villages.

61 মরুপ্রান্তরে: বেথ-অরাবা, মিদ্দীন, সকাখা,

These were in the wilderness: Beth-arabah, Middin, Secacah,

62 নিব্‌শন, লবণ-নগর ও ঐন-গদী—ছয়টি নগর ও সেগুলির সন্নিহিত গ্রামগুলি।

Nibshan, the City of Salt, and En-gedi—six cities, along with their villages.

63 যিহূদা বংশ সেই যিবূষীয়দের অধিকারচ্যুত করতে পারেনি, যারা জেরুশালেমে বসবাস করত; আজও পর্যন্ত সেই যিবূষীয়েরা যিহূদা সন্তানদের সঙ্গেই সেখানে বসবাস করছে।

But the descendants of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the descendants of Judah.
