যোনা ভাববাদীর বই 2
1 সেই মাছের পেটের মধ্যে থেকে যোনা, তার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে এই প্রার্থনা করলেন।
Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
2 তিনি বললেন: “আমার দুর্দশার সময়ে আমি সদাপ্রভুকে ডাকলাম, আর তিনি আমাকে উত্তর দিলেন। পাতালের গভীরতম স্থান থেকে আমি সাহায্য চাইলাম, আর তুমি আমার কান্না শুনলে। (Sheol h7585)
And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 তুমি আমাকে গভীর জলে, সমুদ্রের গর্ভে নিক্ষেপ করলে, আর প্রকাণ্ড জলস্রোত আমাকে ঘিরে ধরল; তোমার সকল ঢেউ, তোমার সমস্ত তরঙ্গ, আমাকে বয়ে নিয়ে গেল।
For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
4 আমি বললাম, ‘আমাকে তোমার দৃষ্টি থেকে দূর করা হয়েছে; তবুও আমি আবার তোমার পবিত্র মন্দিরের দিকে তাকাব।’
And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
5 আমার চারপাশের জলরাশি আমাকে ভীত করল, অগাধ জলরাশি আমাকে ঘিরে ধরল; সাগরের আগাছা আমার মাথায় জড়িয়ে গেল।
The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
6 আমি সমুদ্রে পর্বতসমূহের তলদেশ পর্যন্ত ডুবে গেলাম; নিচের পৃথিবী চিরতরে আমাকে বন্দি করল। কিন্তু হে সদাপ্রভু, আমার ঈশ্বর, তুমি গভীর গর্ত থেকে আমার প্রাণকে তুলে ধরলে।
To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
7 “আমার প্রাণ যখন আমার মধ্যে ক্ষীণ হচ্ছিল, সদাপ্রভু, আমি তোমাকে স্মরণ করলাম, আর আমার প্রার্থনা তোমার কাছে গেল তোমার পবিত্র মন্দিরে উপস্থিত হল।
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
8 “যারা অসার প্রতিমাদের প্রতি আসক্ত থাকে, নিজেদের প্রতি ঈশ্বরের প্রেম তারা পরিত্যাগ করে।
They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
9 কিন্তু আমি, ধন্যবাদের গান গেয়ে, তোমার কাছে নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করব। আমি যা মানত করেছি, তা আমি পূর্ণ করব। আমি বলব, পরিত্রাণ সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকেই আসে।”
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
10 পরে সদাপ্রভু সেই মাছকে আদেশ দিলে, তা যোনাকে বমি করে শুকনো ভূমিতে ফেলে দিল।
And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
