যোহন 2
1 তৃতীয় দিনে গালীলের কানা নগরে এক বিবাহ অনুষ্ঠান সম্পন্ন হল। যীশুর মা সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 যীশু এবং তাঁর শিষ্যেরাও সেই বিবাহ অনুষ্ঠানে নিমন্ত্রিত ছিলেন।
and Jesus and His disciples were invited to the marriage.
3 দ্রাক্ষারস শেয হয়ে গেলে, যীশুর মা তাঁকে বললেন, “ওদের দ্রাক্ষারস আর নেই।”
And they had no wine, because the wine of the marriage was exhausted. Then the mother of Jesus says to Him, There is no wine.
4 যীশু বললেন, “নারী! কেন তুমি এর সঙ্গে আমাকে জড়াচ্ছ? এখনও আমার সময় উপস্থিত হয়নি।”
And Jesus says to her, What is that to me and to thee? O woman, my hour is not yet come.
5 তাঁর মা পরিচারকদের বললেন, “উনি যা বলেন, তোমরা সেইমতো করো।”
His mother says to the servants, Do whatsoever He may say to you.
6 কাছেই জল রাখার জন্য ছয়টি পাথরের জালা ছিল। ইহুদিদের শুচিকরণ রীতি অনুযায়ী সেগুলিতে জল রাখা হত। প্রতিটি জালায় কুড়ি থেকে তিরিশ গ্যালন জল ধরত।
And there were six waterpots of stone sitting there according to the purification of the Jews, containing about two or three firkins. Jesus says to them,
7 যীশু দাসদের বললেন, “জালাগুলি জলে পূর্ণ করো।” তারা কানায় কানায় সেগুলি ভর্তি করল।
Fill the waterpots with water. They filled them to the brim.
8 তখন তিনি তাদের বললেন, “এবার এখান থেকে কিছুটা তুলে ভোজের কর্তার কাছে নিয়ে যাও।” তারা তাই করল।
And He says to them, Now draw out and carry to the chief ruler of the feast,
9 ভোজের কর্তা দ্রাক্ষারসে রূপান্তরিত জলের স্বাদ গ্রহণ করলেন। কিন্তু তিনি বুঝতে পারলেন না কোথা থেকে এই দ্রাক্ষারস এল। সেকথা দাসেরা জানত। তখন তিনি বরকে এক পাশে ডেকে বললেন,
and they brought it to him. And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water, having been made wine, and did not know whence it is (but the servants having drawn the water knew), the ruler calls the groom,
10 “সবাই প্রথমে উৎকৃষ্ট দ্রাক্ষারসই পরিবেশন করে। অতিথিরা যথেষ্ট পান করার পর কমদামি দ্রাক্ষারস পরিবেশন করা হয়। কিন্তু তুমি এখনও পর্যন্ত সবচেয়ে ভালো জিনিসই বাঁচিয়ে রেখেছ!”
and says to him, Every man first sets forth the good wine; and when they have drunk freely, the inferior: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 এ ছিল গালীলের কানা নগরে করা যীশুর প্রথম চিহ্নকাজ। এইভাবে তিনি তাঁর মহিমা প্রকাশ করলেন এবং তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁর উপর বিশ্বাস করলেন।
Jesus did this, the beginning of miracles, in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.
12 এরপর তিনি তাঁর মা, ভাইদের ও শিষ্যদের নিয়ে কফরনাহূমে গেলেন। তাঁরা সেখানে কিছুদিন থাকলেন।
After this He and His mother, and His brothers and His disciples went down into Capernaum, and abode there not many days.
13 ইহুদিদের নিস্তারপর্ব প্রায় এসে গেলে যীশু জেরুশালেমে গেলেন।
And the passover of the Jews were nigh, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 তিনি দেখলেন মন্দির-প্রাঙ্গণে লোকেরা গবাদি পশু, মেষ ও পায়রা বিক্রি করছে আর অন্যেরা টেবিল সাজিয়ে মুদ্রা বিনিময় করছে।
And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting:
15 তিনি দড়ি দিয়ে একটি চাবুক তৈরি করে গবাদি পশু ও মেষপালসহ সবাইকে মন্দির চত্বর থেকে তাড়িয়ে দিলেন। তিনি মুদ্রা-বিনিময়কারীদের মুদ্রা ছড়িয়ে দিয়ে তাদের টেবিল উল্টে দিলেন।
and having made a scourge of cords, He cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money of the exchangers, and over-turned the tables.
16 যারা পায়রা বিক্রি করছিল তাদের তিনি বললেন, “এখান থেকে এসব বের করে নিয়ে যাও! আমার পিতার গৃহকে ব্যবসার গৃহে পরিণত কোরো না!”
And He said to those selling doves; Take these things hence, make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.
17 তাঁর শিষ্যদের মনে পড়ল, শাস্ত্রে লেখা আছে, “তোমার গৃহের জন্য আবেগ আমাকে গ্রাস করবে।”
And His disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house doth eat me up.
18 ইহুদিরা তখন তাঁর কাছে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “এই সমস্ত কাজ করার অধিকার যে তোমার আছে, তার প্রমাণস্বরূপ তুমি আমাদের কোন চিহ্ন দেখাতে পারো?”
Then the Jews responded and said to Him, What sign do you show us, because you do these things?
19 প্রত্যুত্তরে তিনি তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা এই মন্দির ধ্বংস করে ফেলো, আমি তিনদিনে আবার এটি গড়ে তুলব।”
Jesus responded and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will rear it up.
20 ইহুদিরা বলল, “এই মন্দির নির্মাণ করতে ছেচল্লিশ বছর লেগেছে, আর তুমি কি না সেটি তিনদিনে গড়ে তুলবে?”
Then the Jews said, Forty and six years was this temple being built, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 কিন্তু যীশু মন্দির বলতে নিজের দেহের কথা বলেছিলেন।
But He spoke concerning the temple of His body.
22 তিনি মৃতলোক থেকে পুনরুত্থিত হওয়ার পর তাঁর শিষ্যদের মনে পড়েছিল, তিনি কী বলেছিলেন। তখন তাঁরা শাস্ত্র ও যীশুর কথিত বাক্যে বিশ্বাস করলেন।
Then when He arose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said these things, and believed the Scripture and words which Jesus spoke.
23 নিস্তারপর্বের উৎসবের সময় জেরুশালেমে থাকাকালীন তিনি যে সমস্ত চিহ্নকাজ করছিলেন, তা দেখে তারা তাঁর নামে বিশ্বাস করল।
And when He was in Jerusalem at the feast, during the passover, many believed on His name, seeing His miracles which He was doing;
24 কিন্তু যীশু নিজে তাদের বিশ্বাস করতেন না, কারণ তিনি সব মানুষকেই জানতেন।
and Jesus did not intrust Himself to them because He knows all men,
25 মানুষের সম্পর্কে কোনো সাক্ষ্য-প্রমাণের প্রয়োজন তাঁর ছিল না, কারণ মানুষের অন্তরে কী আছে তা তিনি জানতেন।
and because He had no need that any one should witness concerning man; because He was knowing what was in man.
