যোহন 16
1 “আমি তোমাদের এ সমস্ত কথা বললাম, যেন তোমরা বিপথে না যাও।
“I have spoken these things to you to avoid your being caused to stumble
2 ওরা সমাজভবন থেকে তোমাদের বহিষ্কার করবে; এমনকি সময় আসছে, যখন তোমাদের যারা হত্যা করবে তারা ভাববে যে তারা ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে এক নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করছে।
—they will excommunicate you; indeed, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering God service!
3 ওরা পিতাকে বা আমাকে জানে না বলেই, এই সমস্ত কাজ করবে।
And they will do these things because they have not known either the Father or me.
4 একথা আমি তোমাদের এজন্য বললাম যে, সময় উপস্থিত হলে তোমরা মনে করতে পারো যে, আমি আগেই তোমাদের সতর্ক করেছিলাম। আমি প্রথমে তোমাদের একথা বলিনি, কারণ আমি এতদিন তোমাদের সঙ্গেই ছিলাম।
Now I have told you these things so that when the time comes you may remember that I told you about them; I did not tell you these things from the beginning because I was with you.
5 “যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন, এখন আমি তাঁরই কাছে যাচ্ছি, অথচ তোমরা কেউই আমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করছ না, ‘আপনি কোথায় যাচ্ছেন?’
“Now then, I am going away to Him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6 এ সমস্ত কথা আমি বলেছি বলেই তোমাদের হৃদয় দুঃখে ভরে গেছে।
But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের সত্যিই বলছি, তোমাদের মঙ্গলের জন্যই আমি চলে যাচ্ছি। আমি না গেলে সেই সহায় তোমাদের কাছে আসবেন না। আমি গিয়ে তাঁকে তোমাদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দেব।
Nevertheless I am telling you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, because if I do not go away the Enabler will not come to you, but if I do go I will send Him to you.
8 তিনি এসে পাপ, ধার্মিকতা এবং বিচার সম্বন্ধে জগৎকে অভিযুক্ত করবেন:
“Now when He comes he will convict the world about sin and about righteousness and about judgment:
9 পাপের সম্বন্ধে করবেন, কারণ মানুষ আমাকে বিশ্বাস করে না;
first about sin, because they do not believe into me;
10 ধার্মিকতার সম্বন্ধে করবেন, কারণ আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি এবং তোমরা আমাকে আর দেখতে পাবে না;
then about righteousness, because I am going away to my Father and you will no longer see me;
11 আর বিচার সম্বন্ধে করবেন, কারণ এই জগতের অধিপতি এখন দোষী প্রমাণিত হয়েছে।
then about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12 “তোমাদেরকে আমার আরও অনেক কিছু বলার আছে, যা এখন তোমরা সহ্য করতে পারবে না।
“I still have many things to say to you but you cannot bear it now.
13 কিন্তু যখন তিনি, সেই সত্যের আত্মা আসবেন, তিনি তোমাদের সমস্ত সত্যের পথে নিয়ে যাবেন। তিনি নিজে থেকে কিছুই বলবেন না, তিনি যা শুনবেন, তিনি শুধু তাই বলবেন। আর তিনি আগামী দিনের ঘটনার কথাও তোমাদের কাছে প্রকাশ করবেন।
However, when He, the Spirit of the Truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also communicate to you the things that are coming.
14 তিনি আমাকেই মহিমান্বিত করবেন, কারণ তিনি আমার কাছ থেকে যা গ্রহণ করবেন তা তিনি তোমাদের কাছে প্রকাশ করবেন।
He will glorify me because He will take of what is mine and communicate it to you.
15 যা কিছু পিতার অধিকারভুক্ত, তা আমারই। সেজন্যই আমি বলছি পবিত্র আত্মা আমার কাছ থেকে সেইসব গ্রহণ করে তোমাদের কাছে প্রকাশ করবেন।
All that the Father has is mine; that is why I said that He takes from what is mine and will communicate it to you.
16 “কিছুকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে আর দেখতে পাবে না, কিন্তু তার অল্পকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে আবার দেখতে পাবে, কারণ আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি।”
“In just a little you will not see me, and in another little you will see me, because I am going to the Father.”
17 তখন তাঁর কয়েকজন শিষ্য পরস্পর বলাবলি করলেন, “‘আর কিছুকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না, কিন্তু তার অল্পকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে আবার দেখতে পাবে,’ আবার বলছেন, ‘কারণ আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি,’ এসব কথার মাধ্যমে তিনি কী বলতে চাইছেন?”
Then some of His disciples said among themselves: “What is this that He is telling us, ‘In just a little you will not see me, and in another little you will see me,’ and because ‘I am going to the Father’?”
18 তাঁরা আরও বললেন, “‘অল্পকাল পরে’ বলতে তিনি কী বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন? আমরা তাঁর কথার মানে বুঝতে পারছি না।”
So they said: “What is this ‘little’ that He mentions? We do not know what He is talking about.”
19 যীশু বুঝতে পারলেন, তাঁরা এ সম্পর্কে তাঁকে কিছু জিজ্ঞাসা করতে চান। তাই তিনি বললেন, “‘আর কিছুকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না, কিন্তু তার অল্পকাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে দেখতে পাবে,’ আমার একথার অর্থ কি তোমরা পরস্পরের কাছে জানতে চাইছ?
Well Jesus knew that they were wanting to question Him and said to them: “Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said, ‘In just a little you will not see me, and in another little you will see me’?
20 আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, তোমরা যখন কাঁদবে ও শোক করবে, জগৎ তখন আনন্দ করবে। তোমরা শোক করবে, কিন্তু তোমাদের শোক আনন্দে রূপান্তরিত হবে।
Most assuredly I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will become grieved, but your grief will be turned into joy.
21 সন্তানের জন্ম দেওয়ার সময় নারী যন্ত্রণায় কাতর হয়ে ওঠে, কারণ তার সময় পূর্ণ হয়েছে। কিন্তু সন্তানের জন্ম হলে, আনন্দে সে তার যন্ত্রণা ভুলে যায়, কারণ জগতে একটি শিশুর জন্ম হয়েছে।
When a woman gives birth she has pain, because her time has come; but when the child is born she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
22 তোমাদের ক্ষেত্রেও তাই। এখন তোমাদের শোকের সময়, কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের সঙ্গে আবার সাক্ষাৎ করব এবং তোমরা আনন্দ করবে। তোমাদের সেই আনন্দ কেউ কেড়ে নিতে পারবে না।
So in your turn you are now experiencing grief, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
23 সেদিন তোমরা আমার কাছে আর কিছু চাইবে না। আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, আমার নামে, আমার পিতার কাছে, তোমরা যা কিছু প্রার্থনা করবে, তা তিনি তোমাদের দান করবেন।
In that day you will not question me about anything. “Most assuredly I say to you that whatever you ask the Father in my name He will give you.
24 এখনও পর্যন্ত তোমরা আমার নামে কোনো কিছুই চাওনি। চাও, তোমরা পাবে এবং তখন তোমাদের আনন্দ পূর্ণ হবে।
Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
25 “আমি রূপকের মাধ্যমে কথা বললেও এমন এক সময় আসছে, যখন আমি আর এমন ভাষা প্রয়োগ করব না। আমার পিতার সম্পর্কে আমি স্পষ্টভাবে কথা বলব।
“I have told you these things using figures of speech, but a time is coming when I will no longer talk to you with figures of speech; rather I will tell you plainly about the Father.
26 সেদিন তোমরা আমার নামে চাইবে। আমি বলছি না যে, তোমাদের পক্ষে আমি পিতার কাছে অনুরোধ করব,
In that day you will ask in my name; I do not say to you that I will request the Father on your behalf,
27 কিন্তু পিতা স্বয়ং তোমাদের প্রেম করেন, কারণ তোমরা আমাকে ভালোবেসেছ এবং বিশ্বাস করেছ যে, আমি পিতার কাছ থেকে এসেছি।
because the Father Himself is fond of you, in that you have become fond of me and have believed that I came forth from God.
28 আমি পিতার কাছ থেকে এসে এই জগতে প্রবেশ করেছি। এখন আমি জগৎ থেকে বিদায় নিয়ে পিতার কাছে ফিরে যাচ্ছি।”
I did come forth from the Father and have come into the world. I am leaving the world again and am going to the Father.”
29 তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তখন বললেন, “এখন আপনি রূপকের সাহায্য না নিয়েই স্পষ্টভাবে কথা বলছেন।
His disciples say to Him: “Hey, now you are speaking plainly and using no figure of speech!
30 এখন আমরা জানতে পারলাম যে, আপনি সবই জানেন এবং আপনাকে প্রশ্ন করার কারও কোনো প্রয়োজন নেই। এর দ্বারাই আমরা বিশ্বাস করছি যে, ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে আপনি এসেছেন।”
Now we know that you know everything and don't need anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God.”
31 যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “অবশেষে তোমরা বিশ্বাস করলে!
Jesus answered them: “Do you believe now, really?
32 কিন্তু সময় আসছে, বরং এসে পড়েছে, যখন তোমরা ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে প্রত্যেকে আপন আপন ঘরের কোণে ফিরে যাবে। তোমরা আমাকে নিঃসঙ্গ অবস্থায় পরিত্যাগ করবে। তবুও আমি নিঃসঙ্গ নই, কারণ আমার পিতা আমার সঙ্গে আছেন।
Listen, an hour is coming, actually it has already arrived, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 “আমি তোমাদের এসব কথা জানালাম, যেন আমার মধ্যে তোমরা শান্তি লাভ করো। এই জগতে তোমরা সংকটের সম্মুখীন হবে, কিন্তু সাহস করো! আমি এই জগৎকে জয় করেছি।”
I have spoken these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but take heart, I have conquered the world!”
