1 “তুমি কি বড়শি দিয়ে লিবিয়াথনকে টেনে তুলতে পারো বা দড়ি দিয়ে তার জিভ বাঁধতে পারো?
Canst thou draw out the Crocodile with a fish-hook? Or, with a cord, canst thou fasten down his tongue?
2 তুমি তার নাকে কি দড়ি পরাতে পারো বা বড়শি দিয়ে তার চোয়াল বিঁধতে পারো?
Wilt thou put a rush-cord on his nose? or, with a thorn, wilt thou pierce his jaw?
3 সে কি তোমার কাছে অনবরত দয়া ভিক্ষা করবে? সে কি কোমল স্বরে তোমার সঙ্গে কথা বলবে?
Will he multiply unto thee supplications, or will he speak unto thee softly?
4 জীবনভোর তোমার দাসত্ব করার জন্য সে কি তোমার সঙ্গে চুক্তিবদ্ধ হবে?
Will he solemnise a covenant with thee? Wilt thou take him for a life-long servant?
5 তুমি কি পাখির মতো তাকে পোষ মানাবে বা তোমার বাড়ির যুবতীদের জন্য তাকে শিকলে বেঁধে রাখবে?
Wilt thou sport with him, as with a little bird? Or wilt thou bind him, for thy maidens?
6 ব্যবসায়ীরা কি তাকে নিয়ে ব্যবসা করবে? তারা কি সওদাগরদের মধ্যে তাকে ভাগ করে দেবে?
Shall the companions bargain over him? or will they part him among the traders?
7 তুমি কি হারপুন দিয়ে তার চামড়া বা মাছ ধরার বর্শা দিয়ে তার মাথা বিঁধতে পারো?
Wilt thou fill, with darts, his skin? or, with fish-spears, his head?
8 তুমি যদি তার গায়ে হাত দাও, তবে সেই সংগ্রাম তোমার মনে থাকবে ও তুমি আর কখনও তা করবে না!
Lay thou upon him thy hand, remember the battle—no more!
9 তাকে বশে আনার যে কোনো আশা মিথ্যা; তাকে দেখামাত্রই মানুষ কাহিল হয়ে যায়।
Lo! any hope of him, hath been found deceptive, Even at the sight of him, shall not one be overwhelmed?
10 কেউ সাহস করে তাকে জাগাতে যায় না। তবে আমার সামনে কে দাঁড়াতে পারবে?
None so bold, that he will rouse him! Who then is he that, before me, can stand?
11 কে দাবি করে বলতে পারে যে আমাকেই দিতে হবে? আকাশের নিচে যা যা আছে, সবই তো আমার।
Who hath forestalled me, that I may repay him? Under all the heavens, mine it is!
12 “লিবিয়াথনের অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গের বিষয়ে, তার শক্তি ও তার শ্রীমণ্ডিত গঠনের বিষয়ে আমি কথা না বলে থাকতে পারব না।
I will not pass by in silence his parts, or the matter of strength, or the grace of his armour.
13 কে তার বাইরের আচ্ছাদন খুলে নিতে পারে? কে তার বর্মের জোড়া আচ্ছাদন ভেদ করতে পারে?
Who hath removed his outer garment, through his double row of teeth, who would enter?
14 কে তার সেই মুখের দরজা খোলার সাহস করতে পারে, যা ভয়ংকর দাঁতের সারি দিয়ে সাজানো?
The doors of his face, who hath opened? The circles of his teeth, are a terror!
15 তার পিঠে সারি সারি ঢাল আছে যা একসাথে আঁটোসাঁটোভাবে বাঁধা থাকে;
A pride, are his arched sides, closed up, with a firm seal;
16 প্রত্যেকটি ঢাল পরবর্তীটির সাথে এমন ঘনিষ্ঠভাবে যুক্ত যে মাঝখান দিয়ে একটুও বাতাস বইতে পারে না।
One to another, they join, and, air, cannot enter between them;
17 সেগুলি পরস্পরের সঙ্গে অটলভাবে জুড়ে আছে; সেগুলি একসাথে আটকে আছে ও সেগুলি আলাদা করা যায় না।
Each to its fellow, they cleave, they grasp each other, and cannot be parted;
18 সে হ্রেষাধ্বনি করলে আলোর ঝলক বের হয়; তার চোখদুটি ভোরের আলোকরশ্মির মতো।
His sneezings, flash forth light, and, his eyes, are like the eyelashes of the dawn;
19 তার মুখ থেকে আগুনের শিখা প্রবাহিত হয়; সবেগে অগ্নিস্ফুলিঙ্গ নিক্ষিপ্ত হয়।
Out of his mouth, torches dart forth, sparks of fire, escape;
20 তার নাক থেকে ধোঁয়া বের হয় যেভাবে ফুটন্ত পাত্র থেকে তা জ্বলন্ত নলখাগড়ায় ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।
Out of his nostrils, proceedeth smoke, like a blown pot and rushes;
21 তার নিঃশ্বাসে কয়লা জ্বলে ওঠে, ও তার মুখ থেকে আগুনের শিখা উড়ে আসে।
His breath, setteth coals ablaze, and, a flame, out of his mouth, proceedeth;
22 তার ঘাড়ে শক্তির বাস; আতঙ্ক তার সামনে সামনে যায়।
In his neck, lodgeth strength, and, before him, danceth dismay;
23 তার শরীরের ভাঁজ আঁটোসাঁটোভাবে যুক্ত; সেগুলি মজবুত ও অনড়।
The dewlaps of his flesh, cleave together, hardened upon him, they cannot be moved;
24 তার বুক পাষাণ-পাথরের মতো কঠিন, জাঁতার নিচের পাটের মতো নিরেট।
His heart, is hardened like a stone, yea hardened, like the nether millstone;
25 যখন সে জেগে ওঠে, তখন শক্তিমানেরাও ভয় পায়; তারা আতঙ্কিত হয়ে তার সামনে থেকে পশ্চাদপসরণ করে।
At his rising up, mighty men are afraid, by reason of terror, they are beside themselves:
26 তার দিকে এগিয়ে আসা তরোয়াল কোনও প্রভাব বিস্তার করতে পারে না, বর্শা বা বাণ বা বল্লমও করতে পারে না।
As for him that assaileth him, the sword availeth not, spear, dart, or coat of mail:
27 সে লোহাকে খড়ের মতো ও ব্রোঞ্জকে পচা কাঠের মতো মনে করে।
He counteth iron as broken straw, and bronze as rotten wood:
28 তির ছুঁড়ে তাকে তাড়ানো যায় না; গুল্তির নুড়ি-পাথর তার কাছে তুষের সমান।
The arrow, will not make him flee, Into chaff, are sling-stones changed by him:
29 গদা তার কাছে নিছক এক টুকরো খড়মাত্র; বর্শার ঝন্ঝনানিকে সে উপহাস করে।
As a straw, is a club accounted, and he laugheth at the whir of the javelin;
30 তার বগলগুলি খাঁজকাটা খাপরাবিশেষ, শস্য ঝাড়ার হাতুড়ির মতো সে কাদায় লম্বা সারি টেনে দেয়।
His underparts, are points of potsherd, a pointed threshing roller spreadeth out upon the slime:
31 অগাধ জলকে সে ফুটন্ত কড়ায় রাখা জলের মতো মন্থন করে ও এক পাত্রে রাখা মলমের মতো করে সমুদ্রকে নাড়ায়।
He causeth to boil, as a cauldron, the raging deep, the sea, he maketh like a brewing vessel:
32 সে তার পিছনে এক ঝকঝকে ছাপ ছেড়ে যায়; যে কেউ দেখে ভাববে যে অগাধ সমুদ্রের বুঝি পাকা চুল আছে।
After him, he lighteth up a path, one might think the resounding deep to be hoary!
33 পৃথিবীর কোনো কিছুই তার সমতুল্য নয়— সে এক নির্ভীক প্রাণী।
There is not—upon the dust—his like, that hath been made to be without fear;
34 সব উদ্ধত প্রাণীকে সে অবজ্ঞার চোখে দেখে; সব অহংকারী প্রাণীর উপরে সে রাজত্ব করে।”
Every thing lofty, he beholdeth, he, is king over all ravenous beasts.
