1 “তুমি কি জানো পাহাড়ি ছাগলেরা কখন শাবকের জন্ম দেয়? তুমি কি দেখেছ হরিণী কখন তার হরিণশিশু প্রসব করে?
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2 তুমি কি গুনে দেখেছ কয় মাস ধরে তারা গর্ভধারণ করে? তুমি কি তাদের প্রসবকাল জান?
Canst thou number the months [that] they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3 তারা হেঁট হয় ও শাবকের জন্ম দেয়; তাদের প্রসববেদনার অবসান হয়।
They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 তাদের শাবকেরা বেড়ে ওঠে ও ঊষর মরুভূমিতে বলবান হয়ে উঠতে থাকে; তারা সেখান থেকে চলে যায় ও আর ফিরে আসে না।
Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not to them.
5 “বুনো গাধাকে কে স্বাধীন হয়ে যেতে দিয়েছে? কে তাদের দড়ি খুলে দিয়েছে?
Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 পতিত জমিকে আমি তার ঘর বানিয়েছি, লবণাক্ত সমতল ভূমিকে তার আবাস করেছি।
Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 সে নগরের গোলমাল দেখে উপহাস করে; সে চালকের শব্দ শোনে না।
He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8 সে পাহাড়-পর্বতকে চারণভূমি করে সেখানে চরে ও সবুজ ঘাসপাতা খুঁজে বেড়ায়।
The range of the mountains [is] his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9 “বুনো বলদ কি তোমার সেবা করতে রাজি হবে? সে কি রাতের বেলায় তোমার জাবপাত্রের পাশে থাকবে?
Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10 তুমি কি জিন পরিয়ে তাকে সীতায় আটকে রাখতে পারবে? সে কি তোমার পিছু পিছু উপত্যকায় চাষ করবে?
Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11 তুমি কি তার মহাশক্তির উপর নির্ভর করবে? তুমি কি তোমার কাজের ভার তার উপর চাপিয়ে দেবে?
Wilt thou trust him, because his strength [is] great? or wilt thou leave thy labor to him?
12 তুমি কি তোমার শস্য টেনে আনার ও তা খামারে একত্রিত করার জন্য তার উপরে ভরসা রাখতে পারবে?
Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather [it into] thy barn?
13 “উটপাখি আনন্দের সঙ্গে তার ডানা ঝাপটায়, যদিও সারসের ডানা ও পালকের সাথে সেগুলির তুলনা করা যায় না।
[Gavest thou] the goodly wings to the peacocks? or wings and feathers to the ostrich!
14 সে মাটিতে ডিম পাড়ে ও বালির তলায় সেগুলি গরম হতে দেয়।
Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in the dust,
15 তার মনে থাকে না যে পায়ের চাপে হয়তো সেগুলি ভেঙে যাবে, বা কোনো বুনো পশু সেগুলি পদদলিত করে ফেলবে।
And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 সে তার শাবকদের সঙ্গে এমন রূঢ় ব্যবহার করে, যেন সেগুলি তার আপন নয়; তার পরিশ্রম ব্যর্থ হলেও তার কিছু যায় আসে না,
She is hardened against her young ones, as though [they were] not hers: her labor is in vain without fear;
17 কারণ ঈশ্বর তাকে বিজ্ঞতা দ্বারা ভূষিত করেননি বা তাকে এক ফোঁটা সৎ জ্ঞানও দেননি।
Because God hath withheld wisdom from her, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18 তাও সে যখন দৌড়ানোর জন্য পাখা মেলে দেয়, তখন ঘোড়া ও সওয়ারকেও উপহাস করে।
When she lifteth herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19 “তুমি কি ঘোড়াকে বল দান করেছ বা তার ঘাড়ে সাবলীল কেশর বিছিয়েছ?
Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20 তুমি কি তাকে পঙ্গপালের মতো লাফানোর, সদর্প হ্রেষাধ্বনি সমেত আকর্ষণীয় সন্ত্রাস উৎপন্ন করার ক্ষমতা দিয়েছ?
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils [is] terrible.
21 সে হিংস্রভাবে মাটিতে ক্ষুর ঘষে, নিজের শক্তিতে আনন্দ প্রকাশ করে, ও সংঘর্ষে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে।
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22 সে ভয়কে উপহাস করে, কিছুতেই ভয় পায় না; সে তরোয়ালের সামনে থেকে পালিয়ে যায় না।
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23 তূণীর তার বিরুদ্ধে ঝংকার তোলে, বর্শা ও বল্লমও ঝলসে ওঠে।
The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 প্রমত্ত উত্তেজনায় সে মাটি খেয়ে ফেলে; যখন শিঙা বাজে তখন সে আর স্থির থাকতে পারে না।
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that [it is] the sound of the trumpet.
25 শিঙার ঝঙ্কারে সে হ্রেষাধ্বনি করে, ‘আহা!’ সে দূর থেকে যুদ্ধের গন্ধ পায়, সেনাপতিদের ও যুদ্ধরবের হুঙ্কার শোনে।
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 “তোমার বিজ্ঞতা অনুসারেই কি বাজপাখি উড়ে যায় ও দক্ষিণ দিকে তার ডানা মেলে দেয়?
Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, [and] stretch her wings towards the south?
27 তোমার আদেশানুসারেই কি ঈগল পাখি উঁচুতে ওড়ে ও উঁচুতে বাসা বাঁধে?
Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28 সে খাড়া উঁচু পাহাড়ে বসবাস করে ও সেখানেই রাত কাটায়; পাথরে ভরা এবড়োখেবড়ো খাড়া এক পাহাড় তার সুরক্ষিত আশ্রয়।
She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 সেখান থেকে সে খাবারের খোঁজ করে; তার চোখ বহুদূর থেকে তা খুঁজে নেয়।
From thence she seeketh the prey, [and] her eyes behold afar off.
30 তার শাবকেরা রক্ত পান করে তৃপ্ত হয়, ও যেখানে মৃতদেহ, সেও সেখানেই থাকে।”
Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain [are], there [is] she.
