1 পরে ইলীহূ বললেন:
And Elihu proceeded, and said:
2 “হে জ্ঞানীগুণীরা, আমার কথা শুনুন; হে পণ্ডিত ব্যক্তিরা, আমার কথায় কর্ণপাত করুন।
Hear my words, ye wise men! Give ear to me, ye that have knowledge!
3 জিভ যেভাবে খাদ্যের স্বাদ যাচাই করে কানও সেভাবে কথার পরীক্ষা করে।
For the ear trieth words, As the mouth tasteth meat.
4 আসুন, যা ন্যায্য আমরা তা আমাদের জন্য ঠিক করে নিই; আসুন, যা ভালো আমরা তা একসাথে শিখে নিই।
Let us examine for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is true.
5 “ইয়োব বলছেন, ‘আমি নির্দোষ, কিন্তু ঈশ্বর আমার প্রতি ন্যায়বিচার করেননি।
Job hath said, “I am righteous, And God refuseth me justice.
6 আমি যদিও ন্যায়বান, তাও আমাকে মিথ্যাবাদীরূপে গণ্য করা হয়েছে; আমি যদিও নিরপরাধ, তাও তাঁর তির এক দুরারোগ্য আঘাত দিয়েছে।’
Though I am innocent, I am made a liar; My wound is incurable, though I am free from transgression.”
7 ইয়োবের মতো আর কেউ কি আছেন, যিনি জলের মতো অবজ্ঞা পান করেন?
Where is the man like Job, Who drinketh impiety like water;
8 তিনি দুর্বৃত্তদের সঙ্গ দেন; তিনি দুর্জনদের সহযোগী হন।
Who goeth in company with evil-doers, And walketh with wicked men?
9 কারণ তিনি বলেছেন, ‘ঈশ্বরকে সন্তুষ্ট করার চেষ্টা করে কোনও লাভ নেই।’
For he hath said, “A man hath no advantage, When he delighteth himself in God.”
10 “তাই হে বিচারবুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন মানুষেরা, আমার কথা শুনুন। এ হতেই পারে না যে ঈশ্বর অমঙ্গল করবেন, সর্বশক্তিমান অন্যায় করবেন।
Wherefore hearken to me, ye men of understanding! Far be iniquity from God; Yea, far be injustice from the Almighty!
11 মানুষের কর্মের ফলই তিনি প্রত্যেককে দেন; তাদের আচরণ অনুসারে তাদের যা প্রাপ্য তিনি তাদের তাই দেন।
For what a man hath done he will requite him, And render to every one according to his deeds.
12 চিন্তাও করা যায় না যে ঈশ্বর অন্যায় করবেন, সর্বশক্তিমান ন্যায়বিচার বিকৃত করবেন।
Surely God will not do iniquity, Nor will the Almighty pervert justice.
13 পৃথিবীর উপরে কে তাঁকে নিযুক্ত করেছে? সমগ্র জগতের দায়িত্ব কে তাঁর হাতে সঁপে দিয়েছে?
Who hath given him the charge of the earth? Or who hath created the whole world?
14 যদি তাঁর ইচ্ছা হত এবং তিনি তাঁর আত্মা ও শ্বাসবায়ু ফিরিয়ে নিতেন,
Should he set his heart against man, Should he take back his spirit and his breath,
15 তবে সমগ্র মানবজাতি একসাথে ধ্বংস হয়ে যেত ও মানবসমাজ ধুলোতে ফিরে যেত।
Then would all flesh expire together; Yea, man would return to the dust.
16 “আপনার যদি বোধশক্তি থাকে, তবে শুনুন; আমি যা বলছি তাতে কর্ণপাত করুন।
If thou hast understanding, hear this! Give ear to the voice of my words!
17 যে ন্যায়বিচার ঘৃণা করে সে কি শাসন করবে? আপনি কি ন্যায়পরায়ণ ও পরাক্রমী ব্যক্তিকে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করবেন?
Shall he, that hateth justice, govern? Wilt thou then condemn the just and mighty One?
18 তিনিই কি সেই ব্যক্তি নন, যিনি রাজাদের বলেন, ‘তোমরা অপদার্থ,’ ও অভিজাত লোকজনকে বলেন, ‘তোমরা দুষ্ট,’
Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked; Or to princes, Ye are unrighteous?
19 যিনি রাজপুরুষদের প্রতি পক্ষপাতিত্ব দেখান না এবং দরিদ্রদের তুলনায় ধনীদের বেশি প্রশ্রয় দেন না, কারণ তারা সবাই তাঁরই হাতের কর্ম?
How much less to him that is not partial to princes, Nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? For they are all the work of his hands.
20 এক পলকে, মাঝরাতেই তাদের মৃত্যু হয়; মানুষজন প্রকম্পিত হয় ও তারা মারা যায়; পরাক্রমীরা মানুষের হস্তক্ষেপ ছাড়াই অপসারিত হয়।
In a moment they die; yea, at midnight Do the people stagger and pass away, And the mighty are destroyed without hand.
21 “নশ্বর মানুষের পথের প্রতি তাঁর দৃষ্টি আছে; তিনি তাদের প্রত্যেকটি পদক্ষেপ লক্ষ্য করেন।
For his eyes are upon the ways of man; He seeth all his steps.
22 এমন কোনও গভীর অন্ধকার, গাঢ় ছায়া নেই, যেখানে দুর্বৃত্তেরা গিয়ে লুকাতে পারে।
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, Where evil-doers may hide themselves.
23 ঈশ্বরকে আর মানুষের পরীক্ষা করতে হবে না, যেন বিচারিত হওয়ার জন্য তাদের তাঁর সামনে আসতে হয়।
He needeth not attend long to a man, That he may go into judgment before God;
24 বিনা তদন্তে তিনি পরাক্রমীদের চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ করেন ও তাদের স্থানে তিনি অন্যদের নিযুক্ত করেন।
He dasheth in pieces the mighty without inquiry, And setteth up others in their stead.
25 কারণ তিনি তাদের কাজকর্ম লক্ষ্য করেন, রাতারাতি তিনি তাদের উৎখাত করেন ও তারা চূর্ণ হয়।
Therefore he knoweth their works, And in a night he overthroweth them, so that they are destroyed.
26 তাদের দুষ্টতার জন্য তিনি এমন এক স্থানে তাদের দণ্ড দেন যেখানে সবাই তাদের দেখতে পায়,
On account of their wickedness he smiteth them, In the presence of many beholders;
27 কারণ তারা তাঁর অনুগমন করা থেকে ফিরে গিয়েছে ও তাঁর কোনো পথের প্রতি তাদের মনে কোনো কদর নেই।
Because they turned away from him, And had no regard to his ways,
28 তাদের কারণে দরিদ্রদের আর্তনাদ তাঁর কাছে পৌঁছেছে, ও অভাবগ্রস্তদের কান্না তিনি শুনে ফেলেছেন।
And caused the cry of the poor to come before him; For he heareth the cry of the oppressed.
29 কিন্তু তিনি যদি নীরব থাকেন, কে তাঁকে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করবে? তিনি যদি তাঁর মুখ ঢেকে রাখেন, কে তাঁকে দেখতে পাবে? তবুও তিনি ব্যক্তিবিশেষ ও জাতি উভয়ের উপরেই বিরাজমান,
When he giveth rest, who can cause trouble? And when he hideth his face, Who can behold him?
30 যেন অধার্মিকেরা শাসন করতে না পারে, ও প্রজাদের জন্য ফাঁদ বিছাতে না পারে।
So is it with nations and individuals alike! That the wicked may no more rule, And may not be snares to the people.
31 “ধরুন কেউ ঈশ্বরকে বলছে, ‘আমি দোষী কিন্তু আমি আর অপরাধ করব না।
Surely thou shouldst say unto God, “I have received chastisement; I will no more offend;
32 আমি যা দেখতে পাই না তা আমাকে শিক্ষা দাও; আমি যদি অন্যায় করে থাকি, তবে আমি আর তা করব না।’
What I see not, teach thou me! If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more.”
33 যখন আপনি অনুতাপ করতে রাজি হচ্ছেন না তখন ঈশ্বর কি আপনার শর্তে আপনাকে পুরস্কৃত করবেন? আমাকে নয়, আপনাকেই সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে; তাই বলুন আপনি কী জানেন।
Shall he recompense according to thy mind, Because thou refusest, or because thou choosest, and not he? Speak, if thou hast knowledge!
34 “বিচারবুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন মানুষেরা ঘোষণা করবেন, যারা আমার কথা শুনেছেন সেই জ্ঞানবানেরা আমায় বলবেন,
Men of understanding, Wise men, who hear me, will say,
35 ‘ইয়োব অজ্ঞের মতো কথা বলছেন; তাঁর কথায় অন্তর্দৃষ্টির অভাব আছে।’
“Job hath spoken without knowledge, And his words are without wisdom.”
36 ওহো, একজন দুষ্টলোকের মতো উত্তর দেওয়ার জন্য যদি ইয়োবের চরম পরীক্ষা নেওয়া যেত!
I desire that Job may be tried to the last, For answering like wicked men.
37 তাঁর পাপে তিনি বিদ্রোহও যোগ করেছেন; ঘৃণাপূর্ণভাবে তিনি আমাদের মধ্যে হাততালি দিয়েছেন ও ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে অনেক কথা বলেছেন।”
For he addeth impiety to his sin; He clappeth his hands among us, And multiplieth words against God.
