1 “সর্বশক্তিমান কেন বিচারের সময় স্থির করেন না? যারা তাঁকে জানে তাদের কেন এ ধরনের দিনের জন্য অনর্থক অপেক্ষা করতে হবে?
Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
2 এমন অনেক মানুষ আছে যারা সীমানার পাথর সরায়; তারা চুরি করা মেষপাল চরায়।
[Some] remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed [thereof].
3 তারা অনাথদের গাধা খেদায় ও বিধবাদের বলদ বন্ধক রাখে।
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4 তারা পথ থেকে অভাবগ্রস্তদের ধাক্কা দিয়ে সরিয়ে দেয় ও দেশের সব দরিদ্রকে লুকিয়ে থাকতে বাধ্য করে।
They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 মরুভূমির বুনো গাধাদের মতো, দরিদ্রেরা তন্নতন্ন করে খাদ্য খুঁজে বেড়ায়; পতিত জমি তাদের সন্তানদের জন্য খাদ্য জোগায়।
Behold, [as] wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness [yieldeth] food for them [and] for [their] children.
6 তারা ক্ষেতে গবাদি পশুর জাব সংগ্রহ করে ও দুষ্টদের দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে খুঁটে খুঁটে ফল কুড়ায়।
They reap [every one] his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
7 পোশাকের অভাবে, তারা খালি গায়ে রাত কাটায়; শীতকালে নিজেদের গা ঢাকার জন্য তাদের কাছে কিছুই থাকে না।
They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that [they have] no covering in the cold.
8 পাহাড়ি বর্ষায় তারা প্লাবিত হয় ও আশ্রয়ের অভাবে তারা পাষাণ-পাথরকে বুকে জড়িয়ে ধরে।
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 পিতৃহীন শিশুকে মায়ের বুক থেকে কেড়ে নেওয়া হয়; দরিদ্রদের শিশুসন্তানকে দেনার দায়ে বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়।
They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
10 পোশাকের অভাবে, তারা উলঙ্গ হয়ে ঘুরে বেড়ায়; তারা শস্যের আঁটি বহন করে, কিন্তু তাও ক্ষুধার্ত থেকে যায়।
They cause [him] to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf [from] the hungry;
11 তারা চত্বরের মধ্যে জলপাই নিংড়ানোর কাজ করে; তারা পা দিয়ে দ্রাক্ষাফল পেষাই করে, তবুও তৃষ্ণার্তই থেকে যায়।
[Which] make oil within their walls, [and] tread [their] winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 মৃত্যুপথযাত্রীদের গোঙানি নগর থেকে ভেসে আসে, ও আহতদের প্রাণ সাহায্যের আশায় আর্তনাদ করে। কিন্তু ঈশ্বর কাউকে অন্যায়াচরণের দোষে অভিযুক্ত করেন না।
Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly [to them].
13 “এমনও অনেকে আছে যারা আলোর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করে, যারা তার পথ জানে না বা তার পথে থাকে না।
They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 দিনের আলো যখন ফুরিয়ে যায়, তখন হত্যাকারীরা উঠে দাঁড়ায়, দরিদ্র ও অভাবগ্রস্তদের হত্যা করে, ও রাতের বেলায় চোরের মতো চুরি করে।
The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15 ব্যভিচারীদের চোখ গোধূলি লগ্নের জন্য অপেক্ষা করে থাকে; সে ভাবে, ‘কেউ আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না,’ ও সে তার মুখ ঢেকে রাখে।
The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth [his] face.
16 অন্ধকারে, চোরেরা বাড়িতে সিঁধ কাটে; কিন্তু দিনের বেলায় তারা ঘরে নিজেদের বন্দি করে রাখে।
In the dark they dig through houses, [which] they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
17 তাদের সকলের জন্য, মাঝরাতই তাদের সকাল; অন্ধকারের সন্ত্রাসের সাথেই তারা বন্ধুত্ব করে।
For the morning [is] to them even as the shadow of death: if [one] know [them, they are in] the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 “তবুও তারা জলের উপরে ভেসে থাকা ফেনা; দেশে তাদের বরাদ্দ অধিকার শাপগ্রস্ত হয়, তাই কেউ দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে যায় না।
He [is] swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
19 যেভাবে উত্তাপ ও খরা গলা বরফ ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে যায়, সেভাবে কবরও যারা পাপ করেছে তাদের ছিনিয়ে নেয়। (Sheol h7585)
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: [so doth] the grave [those which] have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
20 গর্ভ তাদের ভুলে যায়, কীটপতঙ্গ তাদের দেহগুলি নিয়ে ভোজে মাতে; দুষ্টদের আর কেউ মনে রাখবে না কিন্তু তারা গাছের মতো ভেঙে যাবে।
The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
21 তারা বন্ধ্যা ও নিঃসন্তান মহিলাদের শিকারে পরিণত করে, ও বিধবাদের প্রতি তারা কোনও দয়া দেখায় না।
He evil entreateth the barren [that] beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
22 কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাঁর পরাক্রমে শক্তিমানদের দূরে টেনে নিয়ে যান; যদিও তারা প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়, তাদের জীবনের কোনও নিশ্চয়তা নেই।
He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no [man] is sure of life.
23 তিনি নিরাপত্তার অনুভূতি নিয়ে তাদের হয়তো বিশ্রাম নিতে দেন, কিন্তু তাদের পথের দিকে তাঁর দৃষ্টি থাকে।
[Though] it be given him [to be] in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes [are] upon their ways.
24 অল্প কিছুকালের জন্য তারা উন্নত হয়, ও পরে তারা সর্বস্বান্ত হয়; তাদের অবনত করা হয় ও অন্য সকলের মতো সংগ্রহ করা হয়; শস্যের শিষের মতো তাদের কেটে ফেলা হয়।
They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all [other], and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 “যদি এরকম না হয়, তবে কে আমাকে মিথ্যাবাদী প্রমাণ করতে পারে ও আমার কথা নিরর্থক করে দিতে পারে?”
And if [it be] not [so] now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
