1 “আমি নিজের চোখে এসব কিছু দেখেছি, আমি তা নিজের কানে শুনেছি ও বুঝেছি।
Lo, all [this] hath my eye seen, my ear hath heard and noted it for itself;
2 তোমরা যা জানো, আমিও তা জানি, আমি তোমাদের চেয়ে নিকৃষ্ট নই।
As much as ye know, do I also know: I do not fall short compared with you.
3 কিন্তু আমি সর্বশক্তিমানের সঙ্গে কথা বলতে চাই ও ঈশ্বরের কাছে আমার মামলার স্বপক্ষে যুক্তি দেখাতে চাই।
However, I would gladly speak to the Almighty; and to argue with God do I desire.
4 তোমরা, অবশ্য, আমার গায়ে মিথ্যা লেপন করেছ; তোমরা, তোমরা সবাই অপদার্থ চিকিৎসক।
But ye are inventors of falsehood, physicians of no value are all of you.
5 তোমরা যদি শুধু পুরোপুরি নীরব থাকতে! তোমাদের পক্ষে, তবে তা প্রজ্ঞা হত।
Oh, who would grant that ye might keep a profound silences! and it would he accounted unto you as wisdom.
6 এখন আমার যুক্তি শোনো; আমার ঠোঁটের আবেদনে কর্ণপাত করো।
Do hearken but to my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.
7 ঈশ্বরের হয়ে কি তোমরা গর্হিত কথাবার্তা বলবে? তাঁর হয়ে কি তোমরা প্রতারণামূলক কথাবার্তা বলবে?
Will ye speak wrong things for God? and will ye speak for him deceitfully?
8 তোমরা কি তাঁর প্রতি পক্ষপাতিত্ব দেখাবে? তোমরা কি ঈশ্বরের হয়ে মামলা লড়বে?
Will ye show him undue favor, when ye contend for God?
9 তিনি যদি তোমাদের পরীক্ষা করেন, তবে কি ভালো কিছু হবে? নশ্বর এক মানুষকে যেভাবে তোমরা প্রতারিত করো সেভাবে কি তাঁকেও প্রতারিত করতে পারবে?
Will it be well if he should search you out? or as one overreacheth another mortal, do ye expect to overreach him?
10 তিনি নিশ্চয় তোমাদের ভর্ৎসনা করবেন যদি তোমরা গোপনে পক্ষপাতিত্ব দেখিয়েছিলে।
He will surely reprove you, if in secret you show him undue favor.
11 তাঁর প্রভা কি তোমাদের আতঙ্কিত করবে না? তাঁর শঙ্কা কি তোমাদের উপরে নেমে আসবে না?
Doth not his excellency terrify you? and his dread fall upon you?
12 তোমাদের প্রবচন ভস্মের প্রবাদ; তোমাদের দুর্গ মাটির কেল্লা।
The things you remember are mere proverbs of ashes, your high-places are high-places of clay.
13 “নীরব হও ও আমাকে কথা বলতে দাও; পরে যা হওয়ার হবে।
Keep silence toward me, that I may indeed speak, and let pass over me what will.
14 আমি কেন নিজের জীবন বিপন্ন করব ও আমার প্রাণ হাতে তুলে নেব?
Whatever it may cost, I will take my flesh in my teeth, and my life will I put in my hand.
15 তিনি যদি আমাকে হত্যা করেন, তবুও আমি তাঁর উপরে আশা রাখব; আমি নিশ্চয় তাঁর মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়ে আমার মামলাটি লড়ব।
Lo, though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: only I will argue my own ways before him.
16 সত্যিই, এটি আমার মুক্তিতে পরিণত হবে, যেহেতু কোনও অধার্মিক তাঁর সামনে আসতে সাহস পায় না!
Even he will come to my assistance; for a hypocrite cannot come before him.
17 আমি যা বলি তা মন দিয়ে শোনো; আমার বক্তব্য তোমাদের কানে বাজুক।
Listen well to my word, and to my demonstration with your ears.
18 এখন আমি যখন আমার মামলাটি সাজিয়েছি, তখন আমি জানি যে আমি নির্দোষ প্রমাণিত হব।
Behold now, I have arrayed my cause: I know that I shall be indeed justified.
19 কেউ কি আমার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ করতে পারবে? যদি পারে, তবে আমি নীরব থাকব ও মৃত্যুবরণ করব।
Who is he that will contend with me? for now, if I keep silence, I must perish.
20 “হে ঈশ্বর, আমাকে শুধু এই দুটি জিনিস দাও, ও তখন আর আমি নিজেকে তোমার কাছে লুকিয়ে রাখব না:
Only two things do not unto me: then will I not hide myself from thy presence.
21 তোমার হাত আমার কাছ থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে নাও, ও তোমার আতঙ্ক দিয়ে আমাকে আর ভয় দেখিয়ো না।
Remove thy hand far from me; and let not thy dread terrify me.
22 তখন আমাকে ডেকো ও আমি উত্তর দেব, বা আমাকে কথা বলতে দিয়ো ও তুমি আমাকে উত্তর দিয়ো।
Then call thou, and I will answer; or let me speak, and do thou reply to me.
23 আমি কতগুলি অন্যায় ও পাপ করেছি? আমার অপরাধ ও আমার পাপ আমায় দেখিয়ে দাও।
How many are my iniquities and sins? my transgression and my sin let me know.
24 তুমি কেন তোমার মুখ লুকিয়েছ ও আমাকে তোমার শত্রু বলে মনে করছ?
Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, and regard me as an enemy unto thee?
25 তুমি কি বায়ুতাড়িত একটি পাতাকে যন্ত্রণা দেবে? শুকনো তুষের পিছু ধাওয়া করবে?
Wilt thou terrify a leaf driven about [by the wind]? and wilt thou pursue dry stubble?
26 কারণ তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে তিক্ত অভিযোগ লিপিবদ্ধ করেছ ও আমাকে আমার যৌবনকালীন পাপের ফলভোগ করাচ্ছ।
That thou writest bitter decrees against me, and assignest unto me the iniquities of my youth;
27 তুমি আমার পায়ে বেড়ি পরিয়েছ; আমার পায়ের তলায় চিহ্ন এঁকে দিয়ে তুমি আমার সব পথে সতর্ক দৃষ্টি রেখে চলেছ।
And [that] thou puttest my feet in the stocks, and watchest narrowly all my paths; [and] settest for thyself a mark upon the soles of my feet?
28 “তাই মানুষ পচাগলা বস্তুর মতো, পোকায় কাটা পোশাকের মতো ক্ষয়ে যায়।
And yet the body decayeth like a rotten thing, as a garment that the moth hath eaten.
