1 পরে ইয়োব উত্তর দিলেন:
Then Job answered and said:
2 “নিঃসন্দেহে একমাত্র তোমরাই জনসাধারণ, ও প্রজ্ঞা তোমাদের সাথেই লুপ্ত হয়ে যাবে!
No doubt ye are the whole people! And wisdom will die with you!
3 কিন্তু আমারও তোমাদের মতো এক মন আছে; আমি তোমাদের চেয়ে নিকৃষ্ট নই। এসব কথা কে না জানে?
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: Yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 “আমি আমার বন্ধুদের কাছে উপহাসের পাত্রে পরিণত হয়েছি, যদিও আমি ঈশ্বরকে ডাকতাম ও তিনি আমায় উত্তর দিতেন— ধার্মিক ও অনিন্দনীয় হওয়া সত্ত্বেও নিছক উপহাসের এক পাত্রে পরিণত হয়েছি!
I am become a laughing-stock to my friend, —I who call upon God, that he would answer me! The innocent and upright man is held in derision.
5 যারা অরামে আছে, তারা দুর্ভাগ্য-পীড়িত লোকদের এত অবজ্ঞা করে যেন পা পিছলে পড়ে যাওয়াই তাদের পরিণতি।
To calamity belongeth contempt in the mind of one at ease; It is ready for them that slip with the feet.
6 লুঠেরাদের তাঁবু নিরুপদ্রুত থাকে, ও যারা ঈশ্বরকে জ্বালাতন করে তারা নিরাপদে থাকে— তারা ঈশ্বরের হাতেই থাকে।
The tents of robbers are in prosperity, And they who provoke God are secure, Who carry their God in their hand.
7 “কিন্তু পশুদের জিজ্ঞাসা করো, ও তারা তোমাকে শিক্ষা দেবে, বা আকাশের পাখিদের জিজ্ঞাসা করো, ও তারাও তোমায় বলে দেবে;
For ask now the beasts, and they will teach thee; Or the fowls of the air, and they will tell thee;
8 বা পৃথিবীকে বলো, ও তা তোমাকে শিক্ষা দেবে, বা সমুদ্রের মাছই তোমাকে খবর দিক।
Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct thee; And the fishes of the sea will declare unto thee.
9 এদের মধ্যে কে জানে না যে সদাপ্রভুর হাতই এসব গড়ে তুলেছে?
Who among all these doth not know That the hand of Jehovah doeth these things?
10 তাঁর হাতেই প্রত্যেকটি প্রাণীর জীবন ও সমগ্র মানবজাতির শ্বাস গচ্ছিত আছে।
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind.
11 কান কি শব্দ পরখ করে না যেভাবে জিভ খাদ্যের স্বাদ চাখে?
Doth not the ear prove words, As the mouth tasteth meat?
12 প্রবীণেরা কি প্রজ্ঞার অধিকারী নন? সুদীর্ঘ জীবন কি বুদ্ধি নিয়ে আসে না?
With the aged is wisdom, And with length of days is understanding.
13 “প্রজ্ঞা ও পরাক্রম ঈশ্বরের অধিকারভুক্ত বিষয়; পরামর্শ ও বুদ্ধি তাঁরই।
With Him are wisdom and strength; With Him counsel and understanding.
14 তিনি যা ভাঙেন তা পুনর্নির্মাণ করা যায় না; তিনি যাদের বন্দি করেন তাদের কেউ মুক্ত করতে পারে না।
Lo! he pulleth down, and it shall not be rebuilt; He bindeth a man, and he shall not be set loose.
15 তিনি যদি জলধারা আটকে রাখেন, তবে খরা হয়; তিনি যদি তা বাঁধনছাড়া হতে দেন, তবে তা দেশ প্লাবিত করে।
Lo! he withholdeth the waters, and they are dried up; He sendeth them forth, and they lay waste the earth.
16 পরাক্রম ও অন্তর্দৃষ্টি তাঁর অধিকারভুক্ত বিষয়; প্রতারিত ও প্রতারক উভয়ই তাঁর।
With him are strength and wisdom; The deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 তিনি শাসকদের আভরণহীন করে চালান ও বিচারকদের মূর্খে পরিণত করেন।
He leadeth counsellors away captive, And judges he maketh fools.
18 তিনি রাজাদের পরিধেয় বেড়ি অপসৃত করেন ও তাদের কোমরের চারপাশে কৌপিন বেঁধে দেন।
He looseth the authority of kings, And bindeth their loins with a cord.
19 তিনি যাজকদের আভরণহীন করে চালান ও দীর্ঘকাল যাবৎ ক্ষমতায় থাকা কর্মকর্তাদের উৎখাত করেন।
He leadeth priests away captive, And overthroweth the mighty.
20 তিনি বিশ্বস্ত উপদেশকদের ঠোঁট শব্দহীন করে দেন। ও প্রাচীনদের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তি হরণ করেন।
He removeth speech from the trusty, And taketh away judgment from the elders.
21 তিনি অভিজাতদের হেনস্থা করেন ও বলশালীদের নিরস্ত্র করেন।
He poureth contempt upon princes, And looseth the girdle of the mighty.
22 তিনি অন্ধকারের জটিল বিষয়গুলি প্রকাশিত করেন ও নিরেট অন্ধকারকে আলোয় নিয়ে আসেন।
He revealeth deep things out of darkness, And bringeth the shadow of death to light.
23 তিনি জাতিদের মহান করেন, ও তাদের ধ্বংসও করেন; তিনি জাতিদের সম্প্রসারিত করেন, ও তাদের বিক্ষিপ্তও করেন।
He exalteth nations, and destroyeth them; He enlargeth nations, and leadeth them captive.
24 তিনি পার্থিব নেতাদের বুদ্ধি-বঞ্চিত করেন; তিনি তাদের পথহীন এক প্রান্তরে ঘুরে বেড়াতে বাধ্য করেন।
He taketh away the understanding of the great men of the land, And causeth them to wander in a wilderness, where is no path;
25 আলো ছাড়াই তারা অন্ধকারে পথ হাতড়ে বেড়ায়; তিনি মাতালদের মতো তাদের টলতে বাধ্য করেন।
They grope in the dark without light; He maketh them stagger like a drunken man.
