যিরমিয়ের বই 29
1 নির্বাসিতদের মধ্যে অবশিষ্ট বেঁচে থাকা প্রাচীনদের, যাজকদের ও অন্য সব মানুষকে, যাদের নেবুখাদনেজার জেরুশালেম থেকে ব্যাবিলনে নির্বাসিত করেন, তাদের কাছে ভাববাদী যিরমিয় যে পত্র প্রেরণ করেন, তার নির্যাস এরকম।
Jeremiah the prophet wrote this letter and sent it from Jerusalem to the elders who were left among the exiles, to the priests, the prophets, and everyone else who had been exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar.
2 (রাজা যিহোয়াখীন ও রাজমাতা, রাজদরবারের কর্মকর্তারা এবং যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের নেতারা, কারুশিল্পী ও সুদক্ষ মিস্ত্রিরা যখন জেরুশালেম থেকে নির্বাসনে যান, এ সেই সময়কার ঘটনা)
This was after King Jehoiachin, the queen mother, the court officials, the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metals-workers had been exiled from Jerusalem.
3 তিনি ওই পত্রখানি শাফনের পুত্র এলাসা ও হিল্কিয়ের পুত্র গমরিয়ের হাতে সমর্পণ করেন, যাদের যিহূদার রাজা সিদিকিয়, ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজারের কাছে প্রেরণ করেন। সেই পত্রে লেখা ছিল:
Elasah, son of Shaphan, and Gemariah, son of Hilkiah, took the letter with them when Zedekiah king of Judah sent them to King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. In the letter Jeremiah wrote:
4 জেরুশালেম থেকে আমি যাদের ব্যাবিলনে নির্বাসিত করেছি, তাদের প্রতি বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, এই কথা বলেন:
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles who were taken from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 “তোমরা বাসগৃহ নির্মাণ করে সেখানে বসতি করো; উদ্যানে সব গাছপালা রোপণ করো ও সেগুলিতে উৎপন্ন ফল খাও।
Build yourselves houses there to live in. Plant gardens and grow food to eat.
6 সেখানে আমোদ-আনন্দ করো এবং পুত্রকন্যার জন্ম দাও; তোমাদের পুত্রদের জন্য স্ত্রীর অন্বেষণ করো ও কন্যাদের বিবাহ দাও, যেন তারাও পুত্রকন্যাদের জন্ম দেয়। সেখানে সংখ্যায় বৃদ্ধি পাও, হ্রাস পেয়ো না।
Get married and have children. Arrange for your children to get married so they can have children too. Increase in number, don't decrease.
7 সেই সঙ্গে ওই নগরের শান্তি ও সমৃদ্ধির অন্বেষণ করো, যেখানে আমি তোমাদের নির্বাসিত করেছি। সদাপ্রভুর কাছে সেই নগরের জন্য প্রার্থনা করো, কারণ সেই নগরের সমৃদ্ধি হলে তোমরাও সমৃদ্ধ হবে।”
Help make the city where I've exiled you more prosperous. Pray to the Lord for it, since as it prospers, so will you.
8 হ্যাঁ, এই কথাই বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বলেন: “তোমাদের মধ্যে স্থিত ভাববাদীরা ও গণকেরা তোমাদের বিভ্রান্ত না করুক। তোমরা তাদের স্বপ্নের কথায় বিশ্বাস কোরো না।
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Don't be fooled by your prophets and fortune-tellers, and don't listen to any dreams they interpret for you.
9 তারা আমার নামে তোমাদের কাছে মিথ্যা ভাববাণী বলে। আমি তাদের প্রেরণ করিনি,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
They are prophesying lies to you in my name; I have not sent them, declares the Lord.
10 সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “ব্যাবিলন সম্বন্ধে যে সত্তর বছরের কথা বলা হয়েছিল, তা সম্পূর্ণ হলে, আমি তোমাদের কাছে আসব এবং এই স্থানে ফিরিয়ে আনার মূল্যবান প্রতিশ্রুতি আমি পূর্ণ করব।
This is what the Lord says: When the seventy years exile in Babylon are over, I will see to you and keep my promise to bring you back to Jerusalem.
11 কারণ তোমাদের জন্য কৃত পরিকল্পনার কথা আমি জানি,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। “তা হল তোমাদের সমৃদ্ধির পরিকল্পনা, তোমাদের ক্ষতি করার নয়, তোমাদের এক আশা ও ভবিষ্যৎ মঙ্গলদানের পরিকল্পনা।
I know what I intend to do for you, declares the Lord. I plan good things for you and not bad. I'm going to give you a future and a hope.
12 তখন তোমরা আমার নামে ডাকবে ও আমার কাছে এসে প্রার্থনা করবে। আর আমি তোমাদের কথা শুনব।
Then you will call for my help, you will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.
13 তোমরা যখন সম্পূর্ণ মনেপ্রাণে আমার অন্বেষণ করবে, তখন আমাকে খুঁজে পাবে।
You will look for me and you will find me when you're completely committed to looking for me.
14 তোমরা আমার সন্ধান পাবে,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, “আমি তোমাদের বন্দিত্ব থেকে ফিরিয়ে আনব। আমি তোমাদের যেখানে যেখানে নির্বাসিত করেছিলাম, সেই সমস্ত জাতি ও স্থান থেকে তোমাদের সংগ্রহ করব এবং যে দেশ থেকে তোমাদের নির্বাসনে পাঠিয়েছিলাম, সেই দেশে ফিরিয়ে আনব,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
I will let you find me, declares the Lord. I will end your captivity, gathering you from all the nations and places where I scattered you, declares the Lord. I will bring you back home to the place from where I sent you into exile.
15 তোমরা হয়তো বলবে, “সদাপ্রভু আমাদের জন্য ব্যাবিলনে ভাববাদীদের উৎপন্ন করেছেন,”
But if you argue, “The Lord has provided prophets for us in Babylon,”
16 কিন্তু দাউদের সিংহাসনে উপবেশনকারী রাজা ও অন্য সব লোক, তোমাদের স্বদেশবাসী যারা নির্বাসনে যায়নি, যারা এই নগরে থেকে গেছে, তাদের উদ্দেশে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন—
this is what the Lord says about the king who sits on David's throne and everyone who's left in Jerusalem, your fellow citizens who weren't taken with you into exile.
17 হ্যাঁ, তাদেরই উদ্দেশে বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “আমি তাদের বিরুদ্ধে তরোয়াল, দুর্ভিক্ষ ও মহামারি প্রেরণ করব। আমি তাদের অতি নিকৃষ্ট ডুমুরফলের মতো করব, যা এত খারাপ যে মুখে দেওয়া যায় না।
This is what the Lord Almighty says: I'm going send war and famine and disease against them. I'll make them like rotten figs, so bad that they can't be eaten.
18 আমি তরোয়াল, দুর্ভিক্ষ ও মহামারি নিয়ে তাদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করব ও জগতের সমস্ত রাজ্যের কাছে তাদের ঘৃণ্য করে তুলব। আমি যেখানেই তাদের বিতাড়িত করি, সেইসব জাতির কাছে অভিশাপ ও বিভীষিকার, নিন্দা ও দুর্নামের পাত্র করব।
I will chase them down with war and famine and disease. I will make all the kingdoms of the earth horrified by them. They will become a curse word, totally ruined, people to be mocked and criticized among all the nations where I scatter them.
19 কারণ তারা আমার কথা শোনেনি,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। “আমি তাদের কাছে আমার যে দাস ভাববাদীদের মাধ্যমে বারবার যেসব বার্তা প্রেরণ করেছিলাম, তা তারা শোনেনি। আর নির্বাসিত যে তোমরা, তোমরাও আমার কথা শোনোনি,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
I'm going to do this because they haven't obeyed to my words, declares the Lord, which I sent to them time and again through my servants the prophets. You exiles haven't obeyed me either, declares the Lord.
20 সেই কারণে, আমি যাদের জেরুশালেম থেকে ব্যাবিলনে নির্বাসনে প্রেরণ করেছি, সেই তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শোনো।
So listen to the word of the Lord, all you exiles I sent from Jerusalem to Babylon.
21 কোলায়ের পুত্র আহাব ও মাসেয়ের পুত্র সিদিকিয় সম্বন্ধে, যারা আমার নামে তোমাদের কাছে মিথ্যা ভাববাণী বলেছে, তাদের সম্বন্ধে বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন, “আমি তাদের ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজারের হাতে সমর্পণ করব। সে তোমাদের চোখের সামনে তাদের মেরে ফেলবে।
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about Ahab son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying lies to you in my name. I'm going to hand them over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will kill them right before your eyes.
22 তাদের কারণে, যিহূদা থেকে ব্যাবিলনে নির্বাসিত সকলে এই অভিশাপের বাক্য ব্যবহার করবে: ‘সদাপ্রভু তোমার প্রতি সিদিকিয় ও আহাবের মতো আচরণ করুন, যাদের ব্যাবিলনের রাজা অগ্নিদগ্ধ করেছেন।’
Because of what happens to them, all the exiles of Judah in Babylon will curse others like this: “May the Lord treat you like Zedekiah and Ahab, burned alive by the king of Babylon!”
23 কারণ তারা ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে জঘন্য সব কাজ করেছে; তারা প্রতিবেশীদের স্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে ব্যভিচার করেছে এবং আমার নাম করে মিথ্যা কথা বলেছে। যে কথা আমি তাদের বলবার অধিকার দিইনি। আমি একথা জানি এবং আমি এই বিষয়ের সাক্ষী,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
They did outrageous things in Israel—they committed adultery with their neighbor's wives and told lies in my name. I didn't tell them to say anything. I am the one who knows what they did, and I can witness to it, declares the Lord.
24 তুমি নিহিলামীয় শময়িয়কে এই কথা বলো,
Tell Shemaiah the Nehelamite
25 “বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন: তুমি মাসেয়ের পুত্র যাজক সফনিয় ও জেরুশালেমের সমস্ত লোকের কাছে তোমার নিজের নামে বিভিন্ন পত্র প্রেরণ করেছ। তুমি সফনিয়কে বলেছ,
that this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: On your own authority you sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah, son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,
26 ‘সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যিহোয়াদার স্থানে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক করে যাজকরূপে নিযুক্ত করেছেন; কোনো পাগল যদি ভাববাদীর মতো অভিনয় করে, তাহলে তুমি তাকে হাড়িকাঠে ও গলায় লোহার বেড়ি দিয়ে বদ্ধ করবে।
“Zephaniah, the Lord has chosen you as priest to replace Jehoiada, to be in charge of the Lord's Temple. In that capacity you are required to put in the stocks and neck irons any crazy person who claims to be a prophet.
27 কাজেই তুমি কেন অনাথোতীয় যিরমিয়কে কঠোরভাবে তিরস্কার করোনি, যে তোমাদের মধ্যে একজন ভাববাদীর মতো ভান করে?
So why haven't you not punished Jeremiah of Anathoth, who claims to be a prophet among you?
28 সে আমাদের কাছে ব্যাবিলনে এই বার্তা প্রেরণ করেছে: এখনও অনেক দিন আমাদের এখানে থাকতে হবে। তাই ঘরবাড়ি তৈরি করে তোমরা সেখানে বসবাস করো; উদ্যান তৈরি করে তার ফল খাও।’”
You should have done this because he has sent a letter to us here in Babylon, stating, ‘The exile will last a long time. So build yourselves houses there to live in. Plant gardens and grow food to eat.’”
29 যাজক সফনিয় অবশ্য চিঠিখানি ভাববাদী যিরমিয়ের কাছে পাঠ করলেন।
However, Zephaniah the priest read this letter to Jeremiah the prophet.
30 তখন সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য যিরমিয়ের কাছে উপস্থিত হল:
Then the Lord told Jeremiah:
31 “নির্বাসিত সকলের কাছে তুমি এই বার্তা প্রেরণ করো: ‘নিহিলামীয় শময়িয় সম্পর্কে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: আমি শময়িয়কে প্রেরণ না করলেও, সে যেহেতু তোমাদের কাছে ভাববাণী বলেছে এবং তোমাদের মিথ্যা কথা বিশ্বাস করার জন্য চালিত করেছে,
Send this message to all the exiles: This is what the Lord says about Shemaiah the Nehelamite. Since Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I didn't send him, and has convinced you to believe in a lie,
32 সেই কারণে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: আমি নিহিলামীয় শময়িয় ও তার বংশধরদের অবশ্যই শাস্তি দেব। এই লোকদের মধ্যে তার কেউই অবশিষ্ট থাকবে না। আমার প্রজাদের জন্য আমি যে মঙ্গলসাধন করব, তাও সে দেখতে পাবে না, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, কারণ সে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহের কথা ঘোষণা করেছে।’”
this is what the Lord says: I'm going to punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his descendants. He won't have any family left among this people, and he won't experience the good things that I'm going to do for my people, declares the Lord, for he has promoted rebellion against the Lord.
