যিরমিয়ের বই 13
1 সদাপ্রভু আমাকে এই কথা বললেন, “তুমি যাও, গিয়ে মসিনার একটি কোমরবন্ধ ক্রয় করো এবং তোমার কোমরে তা জড়াও, কিন্তু সেটি জলে ভেজাবে না।”
Thus saith the Lord, Go and procure for thyself a linen girdle, and put it about thy loins, and let it not be put in water.
2 তাই আমি সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ অনুসারে একটি কোমরবন্ধ কিনলাম ও আমার কোমরে জড়িয়ে নিলাম।
So I procured the girdle according to the word of the Lord, and put it about my loins.
3 তারপর, সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য দ্বিতীয়বার আমার কাছে উপস্থিত হল:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
4 “যে কোমরবন্ধ কিনে তুমি কোমরে জড়িয়েছ, তা নিয়ে তুমি ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর কাছে যাও এবং সেখানে কোনো পাথরের ফাটলে তুমি তা লুকিয়ে রাখো।”
Take the girdle that is upon thy loins, and arise, and go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
5 অতএব, সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো আমি ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর কাছে গিয়ে সেটি লুকিয়ে রাখলাম।
So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.
6 অনেক দিন পরে সদাপ্রভু আমাকে বললেন, “তুমি এখনই ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর কাছে যাও, আর যে কোমরবন্ধটি আমি তোমাকে সেখানে লুকিয়ে রাখতে বলেছিলাম, সেটি নিয়ে এসো।”
And it came to pass after many days, that the Lord said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there.
7 তাই আমি ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর তীরে গেলাম এবং কোমরবন্ধটি যেখানে লুকিয়ে রেখেছিলাম, সেখান থেকে মাটি খুঁড়ে তা বের করলাম। কিন্তু সেটি তখন নষ্ট ও সম্পূর্ণরূপে ব্যবহারের অযোগ্য হয়ে পড়েছিল।
So I went to the river Euphrates, and dug, and took the girdle out of the place where I [had] buried it: and, behold, it was rotten, utterly good for nothing.
8 তখন সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য আমার কাছে উপস্থিত হল:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord,
9 “সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘এভাবেই আমি যিহূদার অহংকার ও জেরুশালেমের মহা অহংকার চূর্ণ করব।
Thus will I mar the pride of Juda, and the pride of Jerusalem;
10 এই দুষ্ট প্রজারা, যারা আমার কথা শুনতে চায় না, যারা নিজেদের অন্তরের একগুঁয়েমি অনুযায়ী চলে এবং অন্যান্য দেবদেবীর অনুসারী হয়ে তাদের উপাসনা করে, তারা এই কোমরবন্ধের মতো, সম্পূর্ণরূপে ব্যবহারের অযোগ্য হবে!
[even] this great pride [of the men] that will not hearken to my words, and have gone after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them: and they shall be as this girdle, which can be used for nothing.
11 কারণ যেভাবে কোনো কোমরবন্ধ মানুষের কোমরে জড়ানো হয়, তেমনই আমি ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত কুল ও যিহূদার সমস্ত কুলের লোকদের জড়িয়ে রেখেছিলাম, যেন তারা আমার প্রজা হয়ে আমার সুনাম, প্রশংসা ও সমাদর করে, কিন্তু তারা শোনেনি,’ সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
For as a girdle cleaves about the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave to myself the house of Israel, and the whole house of Juda; that they might be to me a famous people, and a praise, and a glory: but they did not hearken to me.
12 “তুমি গিয়ে তাদের বলো, ‘সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন, প্রতিটি সুরাধার আঙুররসে পূর্ণ করা হবে।’ আর তারা যদি তোমাকে বলে, ‘আমরা কি জানি না যে, প্রতিটি সুরাধার আঙুররসে পূর্ণ করা হবে?’
And thou shalt say to this people, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and it shall come to pass, if they shall say to thee, Shall we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine? that thou shalt say to them,
13 তাহলে তাদের বলো, ‘সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, যারা এই দেশে বসবাস করে, তাদের প্রত্যেকজনকে আমি মাতলামিতে পূর্ণ করব। এদের মধ্যে থাকবে দাউদের সিংহাসনে উপবিষ্ট রাজারা, যাজকেরা, ভাববাদীরা এবং জেরুশালেমে বসবাসকারী সব মানুষ।
Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I [will] fill the inhabitants of this land, and their kings the sons of David that sit upon their throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and Juda and all the dwellers in Jerusalem, with strong drink.
14 আমি তাদেরকে পরস্পরের বিরুদ্ধে চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ করব, এমনকি, পিতা-পুত্র নির্বিশেষে চূর্ণ করব, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। তাদের যেন ধ্বংস না করি, এজন্য আমি কোনো দয়া বা করুণা বা মমতাবোধকে মনে স্থান দেব না।’”
And I will scatter them a man and his brother, and their fathers and their sons together: I will not have compassion, saith the Lord, and I will not spare, neither will I pity [to save them] from destruction.
15 তোমরা শোনো ও মনোযোগ দাও, উদ্ধত হোয়ো না, কারণ সদাপ্রভু কথা বলেছেন।
Hear ye, and give ear, and be not proud: for the Lord has spoken.
16 তোমাদের উপরে তিনি অন্ধকার নিয়ে আসার পূর্বে, অন্ধকারময় পর্বতমালায় তোমাদের চরণ স্খলিত হওয়ার পূর্বে, তোমরা তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, সদাপ্রভুকে মহিমা অর্পণ করো। তোমরা আলোর আশা করেছিলে, কিন্তু তিনি তা গাঢ় অন্ধকারে পরিণত করবেন, ঘোর অন্ধকারে তা বদলে দেবেন।
Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and ye shall wait for light, and behold the shadow of death, and they shall be brought into darkness.
17 কিন্তু তোমরা যদি না শোনো, তোমাদের গর্বের কারণে আমি গোপনে কাঁদতে থাকব; আমার চোখদুটি তীব্র অশ্রুপাত করবে, চোখের জল উপচে পড়বে সেখান থেকে, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর লোকেরা বন্দি হবে।
But if ye will not hearken, your soul shall weep in secret because of pride, and your eyes shall pour down tears, because the Lord's flock is sorely bruised.
18 রাজাকে ও রাজমাতাকে বলো, “আপনারা সিংহাসন থেকে নেমে আসুন, কারণ আপনাদের মহিমার মুকুট খসে পড়বে আপনাদের মাথা থেকে।”
Say ye to the king and the princes, Humble yourselves, and sit down; for your crown of glory is removed from your head.
19 নেগেভের নগর-দুয়ারগুলি বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে, সেগুলি খোলার জন্য কেউ সেখানে থাকবে না। সমস্ত যিহূদাকে নির্বাসিত করা হবে, সম্পূর্ণভাবে সবাইকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে।
The cities toward the south were shut, and there was none to open [them]: Juda is removed [into captivity, ]they have suffered a complete removal.
20 চোখ তোলো এবং দেখো যারা উত্তর দিক থেকে আসছে। সেই মেষপাল কোথায়, যার দায়িত্ব তোমাকে দেওয়া হয়েছিল, যে মেষের জন্য তুমি গর্ববোধ করতে?
Lift up thine eyes, O Jerusalem, and behold them that come from the north; where is the flock that was given thee, the sheep of thy glory?
21 যাদের সঙ্গে তুমি বিশেষ মিত্রতা গড়ে তুলেছিলে, তাদের যখন সদাপ্রভু তোমার উপরে বসাবেন, তখন তুমি কী বলবে? প্রসববেদনাগ্রস্ত স্ত্রীর মতো তুমিও কি যন্ত্রণাগ্রস্ত হবে না?
What wilt thou say when they shall visit thee, for thou didst teach them lessons for rule against thyself; shall not pangs seize thee as a woman in travail?
22 আর যদি তুমি মনে মনে প্রশ্ন করো, “আমার প্রতি এসব কেন ঘটেছে?” এর উত্তর হল, তোমার বহু পাপের জন্য তোমার পোশাক ছিঁড়ে ফেলা হয়েছে এবং তোমার শরীরের উপরে অত্যাচার করা হয়েছে।
And if thou shouldest say in thine heart, Wherefore have these things happened to me? Because of the abundance of thine iniquity have thy skirts been discovered, that thine heels might be exposed.
23 কূশ দেশের লোক কি তার চামড়ার রং কিংবা চিতাবাঘ কি তার শরীরের ছোপ বদলাতে পারে? তোমরাও তেমনই ভালো কিছু করতে পারো না, কারণ মন্দ কাজ করায় তোমরা অভ্যস্ত হয়েছ।
If the Ethiopian shall change his skin, or the leopardess her spots, then shall ye be able to do good, having learnt evil.
24 “মরুভূমির বাতাসে উড়ে যাওয়া তুষের মতো আমি তোমার লোকদের ছড়িয়ে ফেলব।
So I scattered them as sticks carried by the wind into the wilderness.
25 এই তোমার নির্দিষ্ট পাওনা, তোমার জন্য আমার দেওয়া নিরূপিত অংশ,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, “কারণ তুমি আমাকে ভুলে গিয়েছ এবং ভ্রান্ত দেবদেবীকে বিশ্বাস করেছ।
Thus is thy lot, and the reward of your disobedience to me, saith the Lord; as thou didst forget me, and trust in lies,
26 আমি তোমার পরনের কাপড় মুখের উপরে তুলে দেব, যেন তোমার লজ্জা দেখতে পাওয়া যায়,
I also will expose thy skirts upon thy face, and thy shame shall be seen;
27 তা হল তোমার ব্যভিচার ও কামনাপূর্ণ আহ্বান, তোমার নির্লজ্জ গণিকাবৃত্তি! পাহাড়ে পাহাড়ে ও মাঠে মাঠে আমি তোমার ঘৃণ্য কাজগুলি দেখেছি। ধিক্ তোমাকে, জেরুশালেম! তুমি আর কত কাল অশুচি থাকবে?”
thine adultery also, and thy neighing, and the looseness of thy fornication: on the hills and in the fields I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, for thou hast not been purified so as to follow me; how long yet [shall it be]?
