1 “ওহে ব্যাবিলনের কুমারী-কন্যা, তুমি নিচে নেমে ধুলোয় বসো; ওহে কলদীয়দের কন্যা, সিংহাসন ছাড়াই তুমি মাটিতে বসো। আর তোমাকে বলা হবে না কোমল ও সুখভোগী।
“Come down, and sit on the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, Sit on the earth, there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans, For they no longer cry to you, O tender and delicate one.
2 তুমি জাঁতা নিয়ে শস্য পেষণ করো, তোমার ঘোমটা খুলে ফেলো। তোমার পরনের কাপড় তুলে নাও, তোমার দুই পা অনাবৃত করো, আর নদনদীর মধ্য দিয়ে হেঁটে পার হয়ে যাও।
Take millstones, and grind flour, Remove your veil, draw up the skirt, Uncover the leg, pass over the floods.
3 তোমার নগ্নতা প্রকাশিত হবে, তোমার লজ্জা আবৃত থাকবে না। আমি প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করব, কাউকে রেহাই দেব না।”
Your nakedness is revealed, indeed, your reproach is seen, I take vengeance, and I do not meet a man.”
4 আমাদের মুক্তিদাতা—সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু তাঁর নাম— তিনিই ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্রতম জন।
Our redeemer [is] YHWH of Hosts, His Name [is] the Holy One of Israel.
5 “ওহে ব্যাবিলনীয়দের কন্যা, তুমি নীরব হয়ে বসো, অন্ধকারে যাও; আর তোমাকে বলা যাবে না রাজ্যসমূহের রানি।
“Sit silent, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, For they no longer cry to you, Mistress of kingdoms.
6 আমি আমার প্রজাদের প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ ছিলাম, আমার অধিকারকে অপবিত্র করেছিলাম; আমি তোমার হাতে তাদের সমর্পণ করেছিলাম, কিন্তু তুমি তাদের প্রতি কোনো করুণা প্রদর্শন করোনি। এমনকি, বয়স্ক মানুষদের উপরেও তুমি অত্যন্ত ভারী জোয়াল চাপিয়েছ।
I have been angry against My people, I have defiled My inheritance And I give them into your hand, You have not appointed mercies for them, You have made your yoke very heavy on the aged,
7 তুমি বলেছ, ‘আমি চিরন্তন রানি, চিরকালের জন্য আমি তাই থাকব!’ কিন্তু এসব বিষয় তুমি বিবেচনা করোনি, কিংবা যা ঘটতে চলেছে তার প্রতি মনোযোগ দাওনি।
And you say, I am mistress for all time, While you have not laid these things to your heart, You have not remembered the latter end of it.
8 “তাহলে এখন, ওহে বিলাসিনী শোনো, তোমার নিশ্চিন্ত আসনে বসে তুমি মনে মনে ভাবছ, ‘একা আমি, আমি ছাড়া আর কেউ নেই। আমি কখনও বিধবা হব না, কিংবা আমার ছেলেমেয়েরা মারা যাবে না।’
And now, hear this, O luxurious one, Who is sitting confidently—Who is saying in her heart, I [am], and none else, I do not sit [as] a widow, nor know bereavement.
9 এক মুহূর্তে, একদিনের মধ্যে, এই উভয়ই তোমার প্রতি ঘটবে: সন্তান হারানো ও বিধবা হওয়া। সেগুলি পূর্ণমাত্রায় তোমার উপরে নেমে আসবে, তা যতই তুমি জাদু কিংবা মন্ত্রতন্ত্র ব্যবহার করে থাকো না কেন।
And these two things come to you, In a moment, in one day: childlessness and widowhood, They have come on you according to their perfection, In the multitude of your sorceries, In the exceeding might of your charms.
10 তুমি তোমার দুষ্টতার উপরে নির্ভর করেছ, তুমি বলেছ, ‘কেউ আমাকে দেখতে পায় না।’ তোমার জ্ঞান ও বুদ্ধি তোমাকে বিপথগামী করেছে যখন তুমি নিজেই নিজেকে বলেছ, ‘একা আমি, আমি ছাড়া আর কেউ নেই।’
And you are confident in your wickedness, You have said, There is none seeing me, Your wisdom and your knowledge, It is turning you back, And you say in your heart, I [am], and none else.
11 বিপর্যয় তোমার উপরে নেমে আসবে, মন্ত্রবলে তা তুমি দূর করতে পারবে না। এক দুর্যোগ তোমার উপরে পতিত হবে, মুক্তিপণ দিয়ে তা তুমি ঝেড়ে ফেলতে পারবে না। এক সর্বনাশ তোমার উপরে হঠাৎ এসে উপস্থিত হবে, যা তুমি আগাম জানতেও পারবে না।
And evil has come in on you, You do not know its rising, And disaster falls on you, You are not able to pacify it, And desolation comes on you suddenly, You do not know.
12 “তাহলে তুমি তোমার মন্ত্রতন্ত্র ও বহু জাদুবিদ্যা চালিয়ে যাও, যা বাল্যকাল থেকে তুমি পরিশ্রম করে অভ্যাস করেছ। হয়তো তুমি সফল হবে, হয়তো তুমি আতঙ্কের পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি করতে পারবে।
Now stand in your charms, And in the multitude of your sorceries, In which you have labored from your youth, It may be you are able to profit, It may be you terrify!
13 তোমার পাওয়া যত পরামর্শ তোমাকে কেবলই বিধ্বস্ত করেছে! তোমার জ্যোতিষীরা সব এগিয়ে আসুক, ওইসব জ্যোতিষী, যারা মাসের পর মাস ধরে পূর্বঘোষণা করে যায়, তোমার প্রতি যা ঘটতে চলেছে, তা থেকে তারা তোমাকে রক্ষা করুক।
You have been wearied in the multitude of your counsels, Now stand up and let them save you—The charmers of the heavens, Those looking on the stars, Those teaching concerning the months—From those things that come on you!
14 তারা প্রকৃতই খড়কুটোর মতো, আগুন তাদের পুড়িয়ে ফেলবে। আগুনের শিখার ক্ষমতা থেকে তারা তো নিজেদেরও রক্ষা করতে পারে না। কাউকে উত্তপ্ত করার মতো এখানে কোনো অঙ্গার নেই; পাশে বসার মতো এখানে কোনো আগুন নেই।
Behold, they have been as stubble! Fire has burned them, They do not deliver themselves from the power of the flame, There is not a coal to warm them, a light to sit before it.
15 তারা তো সব থেকে বেশি এইমাত্র তোমার প্রতি করতে পারে, এগুলির জন্য তুমি পরিশ্রম করেছ, বাল্যকাল থেকে তুমি লেনদেন করেছ। তাদের প্রত্যেকেই নিজের নিজের ভ্রান্তপথে চলছে; এমন কেউ নেই, যে তোমাকে রক্ষা করতে পারে।
So they have been to you with whom you have labored, Your merchants from your youth, They have each wandered to his passage, None is saving you!”
