যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই 41
1 “দ্বীপনিবাসী তোমরা, আমার সামনে নীরব হও! জাতিসমূহ তাদের শক্তি নবায়িত করুক! তারা সামনে এগিয়ে এসে কথা বলুক; এসো, আমরা বিচারের স্থানে পরস্পর মিলিত হই।
Keep silent towards Me, O isles, And the peoples pass on [to] power, They come nigh, then they speak, 'Together — to judgment we draw near.'
2 “পূর্বদিক থেকে একজনকে কে উত্তেজিত করেছে, যাকে তাঁর সেবার জন্য ন্যায়সংগতভাবে আহ্বান করা হয়েছে? তিনি জাতিসমূহকে তাঁর হাতে সমর্পণ করেন এবং রাজাদের তাঁর সামনে অবনত করেন। তাঁর তরোয়ালের দ্বারা তিনি তাদের ধুলায় মেশান, তাঁর ধনুকের দ্বারা উড়ে যাওয়া তুষের মতো করেন।
Who stirred up from the east a righteous one? He calleth him to His foot, He giveth before him nations, And kings He causeth him to rule, He giveth [them] as dust [to] his sword, As driven stubble [to] his bow.
3 তিনি তাদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে অক্ষত গমন করেন, এমন এক পথে, যেখানে তাঁর চরণ পূর্বে গমন করেনি।
He pursueth them, he passeth over in safety A path with his feet he entereth not.
4 কে এই কাজ করেছেন এবং তা করে গিয়েছেন, প্রথম থেকেই প্রজন্ম পরম্পরাকে কে আহ্বান করেছেন? এ আমি, সেই সদাপ্রভু, প্রথম ও শেষ, কেবলমাত্র আমিই তিনি।”
Who hath wrought and done, Calling the generations from the first? I, Jehovah, the first, and with the last I [am] He.
5 দ্বীপসমূহ তা দেখেছে এবং ভয় পায়; পৃথিবীর প্রান্তসীমাসকল ভয়ে কম্পিত হয়। তারা সম্মুখীন হয় ও এগিয়ে আসে;
Seen have isles and fear, ends of the earth tremble, They have drawn near, yea, they come.
6 একে অপরকে সাহায্য করে এবং তার প্রতিবেশীকে বলে, “বলবান হও!”
Each his neighbour they help, And to his brother he saith, 'Be strong.'
7 শিল্পকর স্বর্ণকারকে উৎসাহ দেয়, আর যে হাতুড়ি দিয়ে সমান করে, সে নেহাইয়ের উপরে যন্ত্রণাকারীকে উদ্দীপিত করে। সে জোড় দেওয়া ধাতুর বিষয়ে বলে, “ভালো হয়েছে।” সে প্রতিমায় পেরেক ঠোকে, যেন তা নড়ে না যায়।
And strengthen doth an artisan the refiner, A smoother [with] a hammer, Him who is beating [on] an anvil, Saying, 'For joining it [is] good,' And he strengtheneth it with nails, it is not moved!
8 “কিন্তু তুমি, আমার দাস ইস্রায়েল, তুমি যাকোব, যাকে আমি মনোনীত করেছি, তুমি আমার বন্ধু অব্রাহামের বংশ,
— And thou, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, Seed of Abraham, My lover,
9 আমি তোমাকে পৃথিবীর প্রান্তসীমা থেকে এনেছি, তার সুদূরতম প্রান্ত থেকে আমি তোমাকে আহ্বান করেছি। আমি বলেছি, ‘তুমি আমার দাস’; আমি তোমাকে মনোনীত করেছি, অগ্রাহ্য করিনি।
Whom I have taken hold of, from the ends of the earth, And from its near places I have called thee, And I say to thee, My servant Thou [art], I have chosen thee, and not rejected thee.
10 তাই ভয় কোরো না, কারণ আমি তোমার সঙ্গে আছি; হতাশ হোয়ো না, কারণ আমি তোমার ঈশ্বর। আমি তোমাকে শক্তি দেব ও তোমাকে সাহায্য করব; আমার ধর্মময় ডান হাত দিয়ে তোমাকে ধরে রাখব।
Be not afraid, for with thee I [am], Look not around, for I [am] thy God, I have strengthened thee, Yea, I have helped thee, yea, I upheld thee, With the right hand of My righteousness.
11 “যারা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে রেগে ওঠে, তারা অবশ্যই লজ্জিত ও অপমানিত হবে; যারা তোমার বিরোধিতা করে, তারা অসার প্রতিপন্ন হয়ে ধ্বংস হবে।
Lo, all those displeased with thee, They are ashamed and blush, They are as nothing, yea, perish Do the men who strive with thee.
12 তুমি যদিও তোমার শত্রুদের খুঁজবে, তুমি তাদের সন্ধান পাবে না। যারা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করে, তাদের চিহ্ন খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না।
Thou seekest them, and findest them not, The men who debate with thee, They are as nothing, yea, as nothing, The men who war with thee.
13 কারণ আমি সদাপ্রভু, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, যিনি ধারণ করেন তোমার ডান হাত এবং তোমাকে বলেন, ভয় কোরো না; আমি তোমাকে সাহায্য করব।
For I, Jehovah thy God, Am strengthening thy right hand, He who is saying to thee, 'Fear not, I have helped thee.'
14 ওহে কীটসদৃশ যাকোব, ওহে নগণ্য ইস্রায়েল, তোমরা ভয় কোরো না, কারণ আমি স্বয়ং তোমাকে সাহায্য করব,” যিনি তোমাদের মুক্তিদাতা, ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্রতম জন, সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করেন।
Fear not, O worm Jacob, ye men of Israel, I helped thee, an affirmation of Jehovah, Even thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 “দেখো, আমি তোমাকে এক শস্য মাড়াই কল বানাব, নতুন এবং ধারালো, যার মধ্যে অনেক দাঁত থাকবে। তুমি পর্বতসমূহকে মাড়াই করে সেগুলি চূর্ণ করবে এবং পাহাড়গুলিকে তুষের মতো করবে।
Lo, I have set thee for a new sharp threshing instrument, Possessing teeth, thou threshest mountains, And beatest small, and hills as chaff thou makest.
16 তুমি তাদের ঝাড়াই করে তাদের তুলে নেবে আর এক ঘূর্ণিবায়ু তাদের উড়িয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। তুমি কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুতে উল্লসিত হবে, ইস্রায়েলের পবিত্রতমজনের উপরে মহিমা করবে।
Thou winnowest them, and a wind lifteth them up, And a whirlwind scattereth them, And thou — thou rejoicest in Jehovah, In the Holy One of Israel dost boast thyself.
17 “দরিদ্র ও নিঃস্ব লোকেরা জলের অন্বেষণ করে, কিন্তু কোনো জল পাওয়া যায় না; তাদের জিভ পিপাসায় শুকিয়ে গেছে। কিন্তু আমি সদাপ্রভু তাদের উত্তর দেব; আমি ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, তাদের পরিত্যাগ করব না।
The poor and the needy are seeking water, And there is none, Their tongue with thirst hath failed, I, Jehovah do answer them, The God of Israel — I forsake them not.
18 আমি বৃক্ষহীন পর্বতশ্রেণীতে নদী প্রবাহিত করব, উপত্যকাগুলিতে উৎপন্ন করব জলের ফোয়ারা। মরুভূমিকে আমি পরিণত করব জলাশয়ে, শুষ্ক-ভূমিতে আমি বইয়ে দেব ঝর্ণাধারা।
I open on high places rivers, And in midst of valleys fountains, I make a wilderness become a pond of water, And a dry land become springs of water.
19 আমি মরুভূমিতে স্থাপন করব সিডার ও বাবলা, মেদি গাছ ও জলপাই গাছ। পরিত্যক্ত স্থানে আমি রোপণ করব দেবদারু, একইসঙ্গে ঝাউ ও চিরহরিৎ সব বৃক্ষ,
I give in a wilderness the cedar, Shittah, and myrtle, and oil-tree, I set in a desert the fir-pine and box-wood together.
20 যেন লোকেরা দেখে ও জানতে পায়, বিবেচনা করে ও বুঝতে পারে, যে সদাপ্রভুরই হাত এসব করেছে, ইস্রায়েলের পবিত্রতম জন এ সকল সৃষ্টি করেছেন।
So that they see, and know, And regard, and act wisely together, For the hand of Jehovah hath done this, And the Holy One of Israel hath prepared it.
21 “সদাপ্রভু বলেন, তোমাদের মামলা উপস্থাপিত করো,” যাকোবের রাজা বলেন, “তোমাদের তর্কবিতর্কসকল উত্থাপন করো।
Bring near your cause, saith Jehovah, Bring nigh your mighty ones, saith the king of Jacob.
22 কী সব ঘটবে, তা আমাদের কাছে বলার জন্য তোমাদের প্রতিমাগুলিকে নিয়ে এসো। আমাদের বলো, পূর্বের বিষয়গুলি সব কী কী, যেন আমরা সেগুলি বিবেচনা করি ও তাদের শেষ পরিণতি জানতে পারি। অথবা, ভাবী ঘটনাসমূহ আমাদের কাছে ঘোষণা করো,
They bring nigh, and declare to us that which doth happen, The first things — what they [are] declare ye, And we set our heart, and know their latter end, Or the coming things cause us to hear.
23 আমাদের বলো, ভবিষ্যতে কী ঘটতে চলেছে, যেন আমরা বুঝতে পারি যে তোমরাই দেবতা। ভালো হোক বা মন্দ, তোমরা কিছু করে দেখাও, যেন আমরা অবাক হয়ে ভীত হই।
Declare the things that are coming hereafter, And we know that ye [are] gods, Yea, ye may do good or do evil, And we look around and see [it] together.
24 দেখো তোমরা কিছুরই মধ্যে গণ্য নও, তোমাদের সমস্ত কাজ সম্পূর্ণ মূল্যহীন; যে তোমাদের মনোনীত করে সে ঘৃণ্য।
Lo, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought, An abomination — it fixeth on you.
25 “আমি উত্তর দিক থেকে একজনকে উত্তেজিত করেছি, আর সে আসছে, সূর্যোদয়ের দিক থেকে সে আমার নামে আহ্বান করে। চুনসুরকির মতো, অথবা মাটির তাল নিয়ে কুমোরের মতো, সে যত শাসককে দলাইমলাই করে।
I have stirred up [one] from the north, And he cometh, From the rising of the sun he calleth in My name, And he cometh in [on] prefects as [on] clay, And as a potter treadeth down mire.
26 পূর্ব থেকে কে একথা বলেছে, যেন আমরা জানতে পারি, অথবা আগেভাগে বলেছে যেন আমরা বলতে পারি, ‘তার কথা সঠিক ছিল?’ এ সম্পর্কে কেউই কিছু বলেনি, কেউই এ বিষয়ের পূর্বঘোষণা করেনি, তোমাদের কাছ থেকে কেউ কোনো কথা শোনেনি।
Who hath declared from the first, and we know? And beforetime, and we say, 'Righteous?' yea, there is none declaring, Yea, there is none proclaiming, Yea, there is none hearing your sayings.
27 আমিই সর্বপ্রথম সিয়োনকে বলেছি, ‘এই দেখো, ওরা এখানে!’ আমি জেরুশালেমকে সুসংবাদের এক দূত দিয়েছি।
First to Zion, Behold, behold them, And to Jerusalem one proclaiming tidings I give,
28 আমি তাকালাম, কিন্তু কাউকে দেখতে পেলাম না, পরামর্শ দেওয়ার জন্য ঈশ্বরদের মধ্যে কেউ ছিল না, আমার প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেওয়ার জন্য কেউ ছিল না।
And I see that there is no man, Yea, of these that there is no counsellor, And I ask them, and they return word:
29 দেখো, ওরা সকলে ভ্রান্ত! ওদের কাজগুলি সমস্তই অসার; ওদের মূর্তিগুলি যেন বাতাস ও বিভ্রান্তিস্বরূপ।
'Lo, all of them [are] vanity, Nought [are] their works, Wind and emptiness their molten images!'
