যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই 40
1 সান্ত্বনা দাও, আমার প্রজাদের সান্ত্বনা দাও তোমাদের ঈশ্বর বলছেন।
“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
2 কোমলভাবে জেরুশালেমের সঙ্গে কথা বলো ও তার কাছে ঘোষণা করো যে, তার কঠোর পরিশ্রমের সময় সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে, আর তার পাপের মূল্য চোকানো হয়েছে, কারণ সে সদাপ্রভুর হাত থেকে তার সমস্ত পাপের দ্বিগুণ শাস্তি পেয়েছে।
“Speak comfortably to Jerusalem [City of peace]; and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her depravity (moral evil) is pardoned, that she has received of Adonai’s hand double for all her habitual sins ·missing the marks·.”
3 একজনের কণ্ঠস্বর ঘোষণা করছে: তোমরা মরুভূমিতে সদাপ্রভুর জন্য পথ প্রস্তুত করো; তোমরা মরুপ্রান্তরে আমাদের ঈশ্বরের জন্য রাজপথগুলি সরল করো।
The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of Adonai in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
4 প্রত্যেক উপত্যকাকে উপরে তোলা হবে, প্রত্যেক পর্বত ও উপপর্বতকে নিচু করা হবে; এবড়োখেবড়ো জমিকে সমান করা হবে, অমসৃণ স্থানগুলি সমতল হবে।
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.
5 তখন সদাপ্রভুর মহিমা প্রকাশিত হবে, সমস্ত মানবকুল একসঙ্গে তা প্রত্যক্ষ করবে। কারণ সদাপ্রভুর মুখ একথা বলেছেন।
Adonai’s kavod ·weighty glory· shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Adonai has spoken it.”
6 একজনের কণ্ঠস্বর বলছে, “ঘোষণা করো।” আমি বললাম, “আমি কী ঘোষণা করব?” “সব মানুষই ঘাসের মতো আর তাদের সমস্ত বিশ্বস্ততা মাঠের ফুলের মতো।
The voice of one saying, “Cry!” One said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its chesed ·loving-kindness· is like the flower of the field.
7 ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় আর ফুল ঝরে পড়ে, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর নিশ্বাস তাদের উপরে বয়ে যায়। সত্যিই সব মানুষ ঘাসের মতো।
The grass withers, the flower fades, because Adonai’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.
8 ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় ও ফুলগুলি ঝরে পড়ে, কিন্তু আমাদের ঈশ্বরের বাক্য থাকে চিরকাল।”
The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever.”
9 যারা সিয়োনের কাছে সুসংবাদ বয়ে আনো, তোমরা উঁচু পাহাড়ে উঠে যাও। যারা জেরুশালেমের কাছে সুসংবাদ বয়ে আনো, তোমরা জোর গলায় চিৎকার করো, কণ্ঠস্বর উচ্চে তোলো, ভয় পেয়ো না; যিহূদার নগরগুলিকে বলো, “তোমাদের ঈশ্বর এখানে!”
You who tell good news to Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem [City of peace], lift up your voice with strength. Lift it up. Don’t be afraid. Say to the cities of Judah [Praised], “Behold, your God!”
10 দেখো, সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু পরাক্রমের সঙ্গে আসছেন, তাঁর বাহু তাঁর হয়ে শাসন করে। দেখো, তাঁর দেয় পুরস্কার তাঁর কাছে আছে, তাঁর দেয় প্রতিদান তাঁর সঙ্গেই থাকে।
Behold, 'Adonay Adonai [Lord Yahweh] will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.
11 মেষপালকের মতোই তিনি তাঁর পালকে চরান: মেষশাবকদের তিনি তাঁর কোলে একত্র করেন ও তাঁর বুকের কাছে তিনি তাদের বহন করেন; যাদের ছোটো বাচ্চা আছে, তাদের তিনি ধীরে ধীরে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যান।
He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.
12 কে তার করতলে সমুদ্রের জলরাশি পরিমাপ করেছে, কিংবা তার বিঘত দিয়ে আকাশমণ্ডল নিরূপণ করেছে? কে বালতিতে ধারণ করেছে পৃথিবীর সব ধুলো, কিংবা দাঁড়িপাল্লায় ওজন করেছে পর্বতসকল এবং তরাজুতে যত পাহাড়?
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span [9 in; 22.86 cm], and calculated the dust of the earth in a measuring basket, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 সদাপ্রভুর মন কে বুঝতে পেরেছে, কিংবা মন্ত্রণাদাতা হয়ে তাঁকে পরামর্শ দিয়েছে?
Who has directed Ruach Yahweh [Spirit, Breath of He sustains breathing] or has taught him as his counselor?
14 উপদেশ গ্রহণের জন্য তিনি কার সঙ্গে পরামর্শ করেছেন এবং কে তাঁকে সঠিক পথের দিশা দিয়েছে? কে তাঁকে জ্ঞান শিক্ষা দিয়েছে কিংবা দেখিয়েছে বিচারবুদ্ধির পথ?
Who did he take counsel with, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of mishpat ·justice·, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
15 জাতিগুলি নিশ্চয়ই কলসের এক ফোঁটা জলের মতো; তাদের মনে করা হয় দাঁড়িপাল্লায় লাগা ধূলিকণার মতোই; তিনি সূক্ষ্ম ধূলিকণার মতোই ওজন করেন সব দ্বীপ।
Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on a balance. Behold, he lifts up the islands like a very little thing.
16 বেদির আগুনের জন্য লেবাননের সব কাঠ, কিংবা হোমবলির জন্য তার পশুসকল পর্যাপ্ত নয়।
Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 তাঁর সামনে সব জাতি কোনো কিছুর মধ্যেই গণ্য নয়; তিনি তাদের নিকৃষ্ট এবং সবকিছু থেকে অসার মনে করেন।
All the nations are like nothing before him. They are regarded by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
18 তাহলে, তোমরা কার সঙ্গে ঈশ্বরের তুলনা করবে? কোন মূর্তির সঙ্গে তাঁর তুলনা দেবে?
To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to him?
19 কোনো মূর্তির তৈরির সময়, শিল্পকর তা ছাঁচে ঢালে, স্বর্ণকার তার উপরে সোনার প্রলেপ দেয় এবং রুপোর শৃঙ্খল দিয়ে তাকে সুশোভিত করে।
A workman has cast an image, and the goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts silver chains for it.
20 যে মানুষ ভীষণ দরিদ্র ও এরকম উপহার দিতে পারে না, সে এমন কাঠ বেছে নেয়, যা সহজে পচে যায় না; সে, টলবে না এমন এক প্রতিমার জন্য, এক কুশলী শিল্পকারের অন্বেষণ করে।
He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up an engraved image for him that will not be moved.
21 তোমরা কি একথা জানো না? তোমরা কি তা কখনও শোনোনি? প্রথম থেকেই কি একথা তোমাদের বলা হয়নি? পৃথিবীর গোড়াপত্তন থেকে তোমরা কি তা বুঝতে পারোনি?
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, yet? Haven’t you been told from the beginning? Haven’t you understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 তিনি পৃথিবীর সীমাচক্রের উপরে উপবেশন করেন, এর অধিবাসীরা সকলে ফড়িংয়ের মতো। তিনি চন্দ্রাতপের মতো আকাশমণ্ডলকে প্রসারিত করেন, বসবাসের জন্য সেগুলিকে তাঁবুর মতো খাটিয়ে দেন।
It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in;
23 তিনি রাজন্যবর্গকে বিলুপ্ত করেন এবং জগতের শাসকদের শূন্য করেন।
who brings princes to nothing; who makes the judges of the earth like meaningless.
24 তাদের রোপণ করা মাত্র এবং যেই তাদের বপন করা হয়, যে মুহূর্তে তারা মাটিতে মূল বিস্তার করে, তিনি তাদের উপরে ফুঁ দেন ও তারা শুকিয়ে যায়, ঘূর্ণিঝড় তুষের মতোই তাদের উড়িয়ে নিয়ে যায়।
They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
25 “তোমরা কার সঙ্গে আমার তুলনা করবে? কিংবা, আমার সমতুল্য কে?” বলেন সেই পবিত্রতম জন।
“To whom then will you liken me? Who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26 তোমরা চোখ তুলে আকাশমণ্ডলের দিকে তাকাও: এগুলি কে সৃষ্টি করেছে? তিনি তারকারাজিকে এক এক করে বের করে আনেন এবং তাদের প্রত্যেকটির নাম ধরে ডাকেন। তাঁর মহাপরাক্রম ও প্রবল শক্তির কারণে তাদের একটিও হারিয়ে যায় না।
Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. By the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, Not one is lacking.
27 ওহে যাকোব, তুমি কেন অভিযোগ করো? ওহে ইস্রায়েল, তুমি কেন বলো, “আমার পথ সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে গুপ্ত; আমার অধিকার আমার ঈশ্বরের কাছে অবজ্ঞার বিষয়?”
Why do you say, Jacob [Supplanter], and speak, Israel [God prevails], “My way is hidden from Adonai, and the mishpat ·justice· due to me is passed over by my God?”
28 তুমি কি জানো না? তুমি কি কখনও শোনোনি? সদাপ্রভুই সনাতন ঈশ্বর, তিনি পৃথিবীর প্রান্তসীমার সৃষ্টিকর্তা। তিনি শ্রান্ত হবেন না, ক্লান্ত হবেন না, তাঁর বুদ্ধির গভীরতা কেউ পরিমাপ করতে পারে না।
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you sh'ma ·heard obeyed·? The everlasting God, Adonai, The Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint. He is not weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
29 তিনি ক্লান্ত ব্যক্তিকে শক্তি দেন, দুর্বলের শক্তিবৃদ্ধি করেন।
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
30 এমনকি, যুবকেরাও শ্রান্ত ও ক্লান্ত হয়, তরুণেরা হোঁচট খেয়ে পতিত হয়;
Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
31 কিন্তু যারা সদাপ্রভুতে প্রত্যাশা রাখে, তারা তাদের শক্তি নবায়িত করবে। তারা ঈগল পাখির মতোই ডানা মেলবে, তারা দৌড়াবে, কিন্তু ক্লান্ত হবে না, তারা চলাফেরা করবে, কিন্তু মূর্ছিত হবে না।
But those who wait for Adonai will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
