যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই 37
1 রাজা হিষ্কিয় একথা শুনে নিজের কাপড় ছিঁড়লেন। তিনি শোকের পোশাক পরে সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে গেলেন।
And when the king, Hezekiah, heard it, he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.
2 তিনি রাজপ্রাসাদের পরিচালক ইলিয়াকীম, সচিব শিব্ন ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ যাজকদের, আমোষের পুত্র, ভাববাদী যিশাইয়ের কাছে প্রেরণ করলেন। তারা সবাই শোকের পোশাক পরেছিলেন।
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the palace, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.
3 তারা গিয়ে তাঁকে বললেন, “হিষ্কিয় একথাই বলেন: আজকের এই দিনটি হল মর্মান্তিক যন্ত্রণা, তিরস্কার ও কলঙ্কময় একদিন, ঠিক যেমন সন্তান প্রসবের সময় এসে গিয়েছে, অথচ যেন সন্তান প্রসবের শক্তিই নেই।
And they said to him, Thus saith Hezekiah: This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of contempt; for the children have come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
4 হয়তো সদাপ্রভু, আপনার ঈশ্বর সেই সৈন্যাধ্যক্ষের কথা শুনে থাকবেন, যাকে তার মনিব, আসিরীয় রাজা, জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরকে বিদ্রুপ করার জন্য প্রেরণ করেছিলেন। সদাপ্রভু, আপনার ঈশ্বর, যে কথা শুনেছেন, তার জন্য তিনি হয়তো তাঁকে তিরস্কার করবেন। সেই কারণে, যারা এখনও বেঁচে আছে, আপনি অবশিষ্ট তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করুন।”
It may be that Jehovah, thy God, will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, hath sent to reproach the living God, and to revile him with the words which Jehovah, thy God, hath heard. Do thou, therefore, lift up thy prayer for the remnant of the people, that is yet left.
5 যখন রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের কর্মচারীরা যিশাইয়ের কাছে গেলেন,
And the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
6 যিশাইয় তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা গিয়ে তোমাদের মনিবকে বলো, ‘সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: আসিরীয় রাজার অধীন ব্যক্তিরা আমার সম্পর্কে যেসব নিন্দার উক্তি করেছে, যেগুলি তোমরা শুনেছ, সে সম্পর্কে ভয় পেয়ো না।
And Isaiah said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master: Thus saith Jehovah: Be not afraid on account of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 তোমরা শোনো! আমি তার মধ্যে এমন এক মনোভাব দেব, যার ফলে সে যখন এক সংবাদ শুনবে, সে তার স্বদেশে ফিরে যাবে। সেখানে আমি তাকে তরোয়ালের দ্বারা বিনষ্ট করব।’”
Behold, I will put a spirit within him, so that he shall hear a rumor, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
8 সেই সৈন্যাধ্যক্ষ যখন শুনতে পেলেন যে, আসিরীয় রাজার লাখীশ ত্যাগ করে চলে গেছেন, তিনি ফিরে গেলেন এবং দেখলেন, রাজা লিব্নার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছেন।
Then Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.
9 পরে সন্হেরীব একটি সংবাদ শুনতে পেলেন যে, মিশরের কূশ দেশের রাজা তির্হক তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সমরাভিযান শুরু করেছেন। সেকথা শুনতে পেয়ে, তিনি এই কথা বলে হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে দূতদের পাঠালেন:
Then he heard concerning Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, that it was said, “He is come forth to war against thee.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah and said,
10 “যিহূদার রাজা হিষ্কিয়কে গিয়ে বলো: যে দেবতার উপর আপনি নির্ভর করে আছেন, তিনি যেন এই কথা বলে আপনাকে না ঠকান যে, ‘আসিরিয়ার রাজার হাতে জেরুশালেমকে সমর্পণ করা হবে না।’
Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah, the king of Judah: Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 তোমরা নিশ্চয়ই শুনেছ, সব দেশের প্রতি আসিরীয় রাজা কী করেছেন। তিনি তাদের সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করেছেন। আর তোমরা কি তাঁর হাত থেকে রক্ষা পাবে?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands; how they have utterly destroyed them. And shalt thou be delivered?
12 ওইসব জাতির দেশগুলি, যাদের আমার পিতৃপুরুষেরা ধ্বংস করেছিলেন, কেউ কি তাদের উদ্ধার করতে পেরেছে—অর্থাৎ গোষণ, হারণ, রেৎসফ ও তেল-অৎসরে বসবাসকারী এদনের লোকেদের দেবতারা?
Did the gods of the nations which my father destroyed, deliver them? Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden in Telassar?
13 হমাতের রাজা বা অর্পদের রাজা কোথায় গেল? লায়ীর, সফর্বয়িম, হেনা ও ইব্বার রাজারাই বা কোথায় গেল?”
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Henah, and of Ivah?
14 সেই দূতদের কাছ থেকে পত্রখানি গ্রহণ করে হিষ্কিয় পাঠ করলেন। তারপর তিনি সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে উঠে গেলেন এবং সদাপ্রভুর সামনে তা মেলে ধরলেন।
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it. Then he went up to the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.
15 আর হিষ্কিয় এই বলে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন:
And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, saying,
16 “দুই করূবের মাঝে বিরাজমান হে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু, একমাত্র তুমিই পৃথিবীর সব রাজ্যের ঈশ্বর। তুমিই আকাশমণ্ডল ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছ।
O Jehovah of hosts, God of Israel, who sittest between the cherubs, thou alone art the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
17 হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি কর্ণপাত করো ও শোনো; হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি তোমার দৃষ্টি উন্মোচন করো ও দেখো; জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরকে অপমান করে সন্হেরীব যেসব কথা বলেছে, তা তুমি শ্রবণ করো।
Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he hath sent to reproach the living God.
18 “একথা সত্যি, হে সদাপ্রভু, যে আসিরীয় রাজারা এই সমস্ত মানুষজন ও তাদের দেশগুলিকে বিনষ্ট করেছে।
In truth, O Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations, and their lands,
19 তারা তাদের দেবতাদের আগুনে নিক্ষেপ করে তাদের ধ্বংস করেছে, কারণ তারা দেবতা নয়, কিন্তু ছিল কেবলমাত্র কাঠ ও পাথরের তৈরি, মানুষের হাতে তৈরি শিল্প।
and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.
20 এখন হে সদাপ্রভু, আমাদের ঈশ্বর, তার হাত থেকে আমাদের উদ্ধার করো, যেন পৃথিবীর সমস্ত রাজ্য জানতে পারে যে, হে সদাপ্রভু, কেবলমাত্র তুমিই ঈশ্বর।”
But do thou, O Jehovah, our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou alone art Jehovah.
21 তারপর আমোষের পুত্র যিশাইয়, হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে একটি বার্তা প্রেরণ করলেন: “সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন: তুমি যেহেতু আসিরীয় রাজা সন্হেরীব সম্পর্কে আমার কাছে প্রার্থনা করেছ,
Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Whereas thou hast prayed to me on account of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria,
22 তার বিরুদ্ধে বলা সদাপ্রভুর বাণী হল এই: “কুমারী-কন্যা সিয়োন তোমাকে অবজ্ঞা ও উপহাস করে। জেরুশালেম-কন্যা তার মাথা নাড়ায় যখন তোমরা পলায়ন করো।
This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken against him. The virgin, the daughter of Zion, despiseth thee; she laugheth thee to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem shaketh her head after thee.
23 তুমি কাকে অপমান ও কার নিন্দা করেছ? তুমি কার বিরুদ্ধে তোমার কণ্ঠস্বর তুলেছ ও গর্বিত চক্ষু উপরে তুলেছ? তা করেছ ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্রতমের বিরুদ্ধেই।
Whom hast thou reproached, and reviled, And against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, And lifted up thine eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.
24 তোমার দূতদের দ্বারা তুমি প্রভুর উপরে অপমানের বোঝা চাপিয়েছ। আবার তুমি বলেছ, ‘আমার বহুসংখ্যক রথের দ্বারা আমি পর্বতসমূহের শিখরে, লেবাননের সর্বোচ্চ চূড়াগুলির উপরে আরোহণ করেছি। আমি তার দীর্ঘতম সিডার গাছগুলিকে, তার উৎকৃষ্টতম দেবদারু গাছগুলিকে কেটে ফেলেছি। আমি তার দুর্গম উচ্চ স্থানে, তার সুন্দর বনানীতে পৌঁছে গেছি।
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and said: “With the multitude of my chariots have I ascended the heights of the mountains, the extremities of Lebanon; I have cut down its tall cedars, and its choice cypress-trees; I have come to its utmost height, to its garden forest.
25 আমি বিজাতীয় ভূমিতে কুয়ো খনন করেছি এবং সেখানকার জলপান করেছি। আমার পায়ের তলা দিয়ে আমি মিশরের সব স্রোতোধারা শুকিয়ে দিয়েছি।’
I have digged and drunk water, And with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”
26 “তুমি কি শুনতে পাওনি? বহুপূর্বে আমি তা স্থির করেছিলাম। পুরাকালে আমি তার পরিকল্পনা করেছিলাম; কিন্তু এখন আমি তা ঘটতে দিয়েছি, সেই কারণে তুমি সুরক্ষিত নগরগুলিকে পাথরের ঢিবিতে পরিণত করেছ।
Hast thou not heard, that of old I ordained it, And from ancient times purposed it? Now have I brought it to pass, That thou shouldst convert fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
27 সেইসব জাতির লোকেরা ক্ষমতাহীন হয়েছে, তারা হতাশ হয়ে লজ্জিত হয়েছে। তারা হল মাঠের গাছগুলির মতো, গজিয়ে ওঠা কোমল অঙ্কুরের মতো, যেমন ছাদের উপরে ঘাস গজিয়ে ওঠে, কিন্তু বেড়ে ওঠার আগেই তাপে শুকিয়ে যায়।
Therefore were their inhabitants of little strength; They were dismayed and confounded; They were as the grass of the field, and the green herb; As grass upon the house-top, and as corn blasted, before it is grown up.
28 “কিন্তু আমি জানি তোমার অবস্থান কোথায়, কখন তুমি আস ও যাও, আর কীভাবে তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করো।
I know thy sitting down, thy going out, and thy coming in, And thy rage against me.
29 যেহেতু তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করো, আর যেহেতু তোমার অভব্য আচরণের কথা আমার কানে পৌঁছেছে, আমি তোমার নাকে আমার বড়শি ফোটাব, তোমার মুখে দেব আমার বলগা, আর যে পথ দিয়ে তুমি এসেছ, সেই পথেই তোমাকে ফিরিয়ে দেব।
Because thy rage against me, and thy insolence, is come up into my ears, I will put my ring into thy nose, And my bridle into thy lips, And turn thee back by the way in which thou camest.
30 “আর ওহে হিষ্কিয়, এই হবে তোমার পক্ষে চিহ্নস্বরূপ: “এই বছরে তোমরা আপনা-আপনি উৎপন্ন শস্য, আর দ্বিতীয় বছরে তা থেকে যা উৎপন্ন হবে, তোমরা তাই ভোজন করবে। কিন্তু তৃতীয় বছরে তোমরা বীজবপন ও শস্যচ্ছেদন করবে, দ্রাক্ষাকুঞ্জ রোপণ করে তার ফল খাবে।
And this shall be the sign to thee; Eat this year that which groweth of itself, And in the second year that which groweth of itself, And in the third year ye shall sow and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
31 আরও একবার যিহূদা রাজ্যের অবশিষ্ট লোকেরা পায়ের নিচে মূল খুঁজে পাবে ও তাদের উপরে ফল ধরবে।
And the remnant of the house of Judah, that have escaped, Shall again strike root downward, And bear fruit upward.
32 কারণ জেরুশালেম থেকে আসবে এক অবশিষ্টাংশ, আর সিয়োন পর্বত থেকে আসবে বেঁচে থাকা লোকের একদল। সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর উদ্যোগই তা সুসম্পন্ন করবে।
For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, And they that have escaped from mount Zion. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
33 “সেই কারণে, আসিরীয় রাজা সম্পর্কে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “সে এই নগরে প্রবেশ করবে না, কিংবা এখানে কোনো তির নিক্ষেপ করবে না। সে এই নগরের সামনে ঢাল নিয়ে আসবে না, কিংবা কোনো জাঙ্গাল নির্মাণ করবে না।
Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the king of Assyria; He shall not come into this city, Nor shoot an arrow into it; He shall not present a shield before it, Nor cast up a mound against it.
34 যে পথ দিয়ে সে আসবে, সে পথেই যাবে ফিরে; সে এই নগরে প্রবেশ করবে না,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
By the way in which he came, by the same shall he return, And into this city shall he not come, saith Jehovah.
35 “আমি আমার জন্য ও আমার দাস দাউদের জন্য এই নগর রক্ষা করে তা উদ্ধার করব!”
For I will defend this city, and deliver it, For mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
36 পরে সদাপ্রভুর দূত আসিরীয়দের সৈন্যশিবিরে গিয়ে এক লক্ষ পঁচাশি হাজার সৈন্য মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। পরদিন সকালে যখন লোকজন ঘুম থেকে উঠেছিল—দেখা গেল সর্বত্র শুধু মৃতদেহ ছড়িয়ে পড়ে আছে!
Then an angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand men; and when the people arose early in the morning, behold they were all dead corpses.
37 তাই আসিরিয়ার রাজা সন্হেরীব সৈন্যশিবির ভেঙে দিয়ে সেখান থেকে সরে পড়েছিলেন। তিনি নীনবীতে ফিরে গিয়ে সেখানেই থেকে গেলেন।
Then Sennacherib, king of Assyria, decamped, and went away, and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
38 একদিন, যখন তিনি তাঁর দেবতা নিষ্রোকের মন্দিরে পুজো করছিলেন, তাঁর দুই ছেলে অদ্রম্মেলক ও শরেৎসর তরোয়াল দিয়ে তাঁকে হত্যা করল, এবং আরারট দেশে পালিয়ে গেল। তাঁর ছেলে এসর-হদ্দোন রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
And as he was worshipping in the temple of Nisroch, his god, he was slain with the sword by his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer, who escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon, his son, reigned in his stead.
