যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই 28
1 ইফ্রয়িমের মত্ত ব্যক্তিদের অহংকার, সেই মুকুটকে ধিক্, যে ফুলের শোভা ও যার মহিমার সৌন্দর্য ম্লান হয়ে যাচ্ছে, যা এক উর্বর উপত্যকার মাথায় অবস্থিত, সেই নগর, যাদের অহংকার সুরার কারণে অবনমিত হয়েছে!
Woe [to] the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim. And the fading flower of the beauty of his glory, That [is] on the head of the fat valley of the broken down of wine.
2 দেখো, প্রভুর এক পরাক্রমী ও শক্তিশালী ব্যক্তি আছেন। শিলাবৃষ্টি ও ধ্বংসাত্মক ঝড়ের মতো, মুষলধারায় বৃষ্টি ও প্লাবনকারী বারিধারার মতো, তিনি একে সবলে মাটিতে নিক্ষেপ করবেন।
Lo, a mighty and strong one [is] to the Lord, As a storm of hail — a destructive shower, As an inundation of mighty waters overflowing, He cast down to the earth with the hand.
3 সেই মুকুট, যা ইফ্রয়িমের মত্ত ব্যক্তিদের গর্ব, পায়ের নিচে দলিত হবে।
By feet trodden down is the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,
4 সেই ম্লানপ্রায় ফুল, তার মহিমার সৌন্দর্য, যা এক উর্বর উপত্যকার মাথায় অবস্থিত, যা চয়ন করার আগে পাকা ডুমুরের মতো হবে— তাকে দেখামাত্র যেমন কেউ তা পেড়ে হাতে নেয়, আর তা খেয়ে ফেলে, তেমনই।
And the fading flower of the beauty of his glory That [is] on the head of the fat valley, Hath been as its first-fruit before summer, That its beholder seeth, While it [is] yet in his hand he swalloweth it.
5 সেইদিন, বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এক গৌরবের মুকুটস্বরূপ হবেন, তাঁর প্রজাদের অবশিষ্টাংশের জন্য তিনি হবেন এক সুন্দর শিরোভূষণ।
In that day is Jehovah of Hosts For a crown of beauty, and for a diadem of glory, To the remnant of His people.
6 যিনি বিচারকের আসনে বসেন, তিনি তাঁকে ন্যায়বিচারের প্রেরণা দেবেন, যারা নগর-দুয়ারে আক্রমণ রোধ করে, তিনি হবেন তাদের কাছে শক্তির উৎস।
And for a spirit of judgment To him who is sitting in the judgment, And for might [to] those turning back the battle to the gate.
7 এরাও সুরার কারণে টলোমলো হয় এবং সুরা পানের কারণে এলোমেলো চলে: যাজকেরা ও ভাববাদীরা সুরা পান করে টলোমলো হয় সুরা পান করে তারা চুর হয়ে থাকে; তারা সুরা পানের জন্য এলোমেলো চলে, দর্শন দেখামাত্র তারা টলটলায়মান হয়, সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের সময় তারা হোঁচট খায়।
And even these through wine have erred, And through strong drink have wandered, Priest and prophet erred through strong drink, They have been swallowed up of the wine, They wandered because of the strong drink, They have erred in seeing, They have stumbled judicially.
8 খাবারের সব টেবিল বমিতে পূর্ণ, নোংরা নয়, এমন কোনো স্থান নেই।
For all tables have been full of vomit, Filth — without place!
9 “সে কাকে শিক্ষা দিতে চাইছে? কার কাছে সে তার বার্তার ব্যাখ্যা করছে? সেই শিশুদের কাছে কি, যাদের স্তন্যপান ত্যাগ করানো হচ্ছে, না তাদের কাছে, যাদের স্তন থেকে সরানো হচ্ছে?
By whom doth He teach knowledge? And by whom doth He cause to understand the report? The weaned from milk, the removed from breasts,
10 কারণ, এ যেন: এরকম করো, সেইরকম করো, নিয়মের উপরে নিয়ম, তার উপরে নিয়ম, এখানে একটু আর ওখানে একটু।”
For rule [is] on rule, rule on rule, line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there,
11 তাহলে ভালোই তো, বিদেশি ওষ্ঠাধর ও অদ্ভুত ভাষার দ্বারা ঈশ্বর এই জাতির সঙ্গে কথা বলবেন।
For by scorned lip, and by another tongue, Doth He speak unto this people.
12 যাদের কাছে তিনি বলেছেন, “এই হল বিশ্রামের স্থান, ক্লান্ত ব্যক্তি এখানে বিশ্রাম করুক” এবং “এই হল প্রাণ জুড়ানোর স্থান”— কিন্তু তারা তা শুনতে চাইলো না।
Unto whom He hath said, 'This [is] the rest, give ye rest to the weary, And this — the refreshing:' And they have not been willing to hear,
13 সেই কারণে, সদাপ্রভুর বাণী তাদের কাছে এরকম হল: এরকম করো, সেইরকম করো, নিয়মের উপরে নিয়ম, তার উপরে নিয়ম, এখানে একটু আর ওখানে একটু— যেন তারা যায় ও পিছন দিকে পড়ে, আহত হয়ে ফাঁদে পড়ে ও ধৃত হয়।
And to whom a word of Jehovah hath been, Rule on rule, rule on rule, line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there, So that they go and have stumbled backward, And been broken, and snared, and captured.
14 সেই কারণে নিন্দুকেরা ও জেরুশালেমে স্থিত এই জাতির শাসকেরা, তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর বাণী শোনো।
Therefore, hear a word of Jehovah, ye men of scorning, Ruling this people that [is] in Jerusalem.
15 তোমরা অহংকার করে বলো, “আমরা মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে একটি সন্ধিচুক্তি করেছি, কবরের সঙ্গে আমাদের একটি নিয়ম হয়েছে। যখন কোনো অপ্রতিরোধ্য কশা আছড়ে পড়ে, তা আমাদের স্পর্শ করতে পারবে না, কারণ এক মিথ্যাকে আমরা আশ্রয়স্থল করেছি, আর মিথ্যাচারই হল আমাদের লুকানোর স্থান।” (Sheol h7585)
Because ye have said: 'We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a provision, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Doth not meet us, Though we have made a lie our refuge, And in falsehood have been hidden.' (Sheol h7585)
16 তাই সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু একথা বলেন: “দেখো, আমি সিয়োনে এক পাথর স্থাপন করি, সেটি এক পরীক্ষিত পাথর, সুদৃঢ় ভিত্তির জন্য তা এক মহামূল্যবান কোণের পাথর; যে বিশ্বাস করে, সে কখনও আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হবে না।
Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: 'Lo, I am laying a foundation in Zion, A stone — a tried stone, a corner stone precious, a settled foundation, He who is believing doth not make haste.
17 আমি ন্যায়বিচারকে মানদণ্ড ও ধার্মিকতাকে করব ওলন-দড়ি; শিলাবৃষ্টি তোমাদের আশ্রয়স্থান, অর্থাৎ মিথ্যাচারকে ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে, আর জল তোমার লুকানোর স্থানের উপর দিয়ে বইবে।
And I have put judgment for a line, And righteousness for a plummet, And sweep away doth hail the refuge of lies, And the secret hiding-place do waters overflow.
18 মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে কৃত তোমাদের সন্ধিচুক্তি বাতিল করা হবে; কবরের সঙ্গে তোমাদের চুক্তিনিয়ম স্থির থাকবে না। যখন সেই অপ্রতিরোধ্য কশা আছড়ে পড়বে, তোমরা তার দ্বারা প্রহারিত হবে। (Sheol h7585)
And disannulled hath been your covenant with death, And your provision with Sheol doth not stand, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Then ye have been to it for a treading-place. (Sheol h7585)
19 যেই তা আসবে, তা তোমাদের বহন করে নিয়ে যাবে; সকালের পর সকাল, দিনে বা রাত্রে, তা ক্রমাগত আছড়ে পড়বে।” এই বার্তা বুঝতে পারলে তা প্রচণ্ড বিভীষিকা নিয়ে আসবে।
From the fulness of its passing over it taketh you, For morning by morning it passeth over, By day and by night, And it hath been only a trembling to consider the report.
20 পা ছড়ানোর জন্য বিছানা ভীষণ খাটো, তোমাদের গায়ে জড়ানোর জন্য কম্বলও ছোটো।
For shorter hath been the bed Than to stretch one's self out in, And the covering hath been narrower Than to wrap one's self up in.
21 সদাপ্রভু উঠে দাঁড়াবেন, যেমন পরাসীম পর্বতে করেছিলেন, গিবিয়োনের উপত্যকায় যেমন করেছিলেন, তেমনই তিনি নিজেকে তুলে ধরবেন, যেন তিনি তাঁর কাজ করতে পারেন, তাঁর অদ্ভুত কাজ, তাঁর করণীয় কাজ সম্পন্ন করেন, তাঁর রহস্যময় সেই করণীয় কাজ।
For as [at] mount Perazim rise doth Jehovah, As [at] the valley in Gibeon He is troubled, To do His work — strange [is] His work, And to do His deed — strange [is] His deed.'
22 এখন তোমাদের ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপ করা বন্ধ করো, নইলে তোমাদের শৃঙ্খল আরও ভারী হবে; প্রভু, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু আমাকে বলেছেন, সমস্ত দেশের বিরুদ্ধে ধ্বংসের পরোয়ানা জারি হয়ে গেছে।
And now, show not yourselves scorners, Lest strong be your bands, For a consumption, that is determined, I have heard, by the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, [Is] for all the land.
23 তোমরা শোনো ও আমার কথায় কান দাও; মনোযোগ দাও ও আমি যা বলি তা শোনো।
Give ear, and hear my voice, Attend, and hear my saying:
24 কৃষক যখন বীজ বপনের জন্য জমি চাষ করে, সে কি তা চাষ করেই যায়? সে কি ক্রমাগত পাথর ভাঙ্গে ও মাটিতে মই দেয়?
The whole day plougheth the ploughman to sow? He openeth and harroweth his ground!
25 সে যখন ভূমির উপরিভাগ সমান করে, সে কি মৌরি ও জিরের বীজ বোনে না? সে কি যথাস্থানে গম ও যব ও খেতের সীমানায় ভুট্টা যথা উপায়ে বপন করে না?
Hath he not, if he have made level its face, Then scattered fitches, and cummin sprinkle, And hath placed the principal wheat, And the appointed barley, And the rie [in] its own border?
26 তার ঈশ্বর তাকে নির্দেশ দেন ও তাকে যথার্থ নিয়মের শিক্ষা দেন।
And instruct him for judgment doth his God, He doth direct him.
27 মৌরি হাতগাড়ির দ্বারা মাড়াই করা হয় না, জিরের উপরে গোরুগাড়ির চাকাও চালানো হয় না; মৌরি লাঠি দিয়ে পেটানো হয়, জিরে একটি ছড়ির দ্বারা।
For not with a sharp-pointed thing threshed are fitches, And the wheel of a cart on cummin turned round, For with a staff beaten out are fitches, And cummin with a rod.
28 রুটি তৈরি করার জন্য গম অবশ্যই চূর্ণ করতে হয়, তাই কেউই গম অনবরত মাড়াই করে না। যদিও মাড়াই করা গাড়ির চাকা তার উপরে চালানো হয়, ঘোড়ার খুরে তা কিন্তু চূর্ণ হয় না।
Bread -[corn] is beaten small, For not for ever doth he sorely thresh it, Nor crushed [it] hath a wheel of his cart, Nor do his hoofs beat it small.
29 এই সমস্ত জ্ঞান আসে সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে, যাঁর পরিকল্পনা অপূর্ব, যাঁর প্রজ্ঞা চমৎকার।
Even this from Jehovah of Hosts hath gone out, He hath made counsel wonderful, He hath made wisdom great!
