যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই 10

1 ধিক্ তাদের, যারা অন্যায় সব বিধান তৈরি করে, যারা অত্যাচার করার জন্য রায় ঘোষণা করে,

Alas! for them who ordain iniquitous decrees, —And, busy writers, who make a business of writing mischief:

2 যেন নিজস্ব অধিকার থেকে দরিদ্রদের বঞ্চিত করে এবং আমার জাতির অত্যাচারিত লোকদের থেকে ন্যায়বিচার হরণ করে, যারা বিধবাদের তাদের শিকার বানায় এবং পিতৃহীনদের সর্বস্ব লুট করে।

Turning aside from judgment, the poor, And robbing, of justice, the oppressed of my people, —So that, widows, become, their spoil, And of the fatherless, they make prey.

3 হিসেব নেওয়ার দিনে তোমরা কী করবে, যখন দূর থেকে তোমাদের উপরে বিপর্যয় নেমে আসবে? সাহায্যের জন্য কার কাছে তোমরা দৌড়ে যাবে? তোমাদের ধনসম্পদ সব কোথায় রাখবে?

What, then, will ye do for the day of visitation, And for the devastation, which from afar, shall come? Unto whom, will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your gory?

4 বন্দিদের মধ্যে ভয়ে কুঁকড়ে থাকা অথবা নিহতদের পতিত হওয়া ছাড়া আর কিছু থাকবে না। তবুও, এ সকলের জন্য তাঁর ক্রোধ প্রশমিত হয়নি, তাঁর হাত এখনও উপরে উঠে আছে।

Without me, one hath bowed under a prisoner Yea under the slain, do they fall! For all this, hath his anger, not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched.

5 “আসিরিয়াকে ধিক্, সে আমার ক্রোধের লাঠি, যার হাতে আছে আমার রোষের মুগুর!

Alas! for Assyria, the rod of mine anger, —Yea, the very staff in their hand, is, my displeasure:

6 আমি তাকে এক ভক্তিহীন জাতির বিরুদ্ধে পাঠাব, আমি তাকে এক জাতির বিরুদ্ধে প্রেরণ করব, যারা আমাকে ক্রুদ্ধ করেছে, যেন সে লুট করে ও লুণ্ঠনের দ্রব্য কেড়ে নেয়, আর পথের কর্দমের মতো তাদের পদদলিত করে।

Against an irreligious nation, will I send him, Yea against the people with whom I am wroth, will I command him, —To capture spoil And lay hold on prey, And cause them to be trodden down as the mire of the lanes.

7 কিন্তু এরকম তিনি করতে চান না, এরকম কিছু তাঁর মনে আসেনি; তাঁর অভিপ্রায় হল ধ্বংস করা, অনেক জাতির পরিসমাপ্তি ঘটানো।

But as for him, not so, doth he deem, And in his heart, not so, doth he think, —For, to destroy, is in his heart, And to cut off nations, not a few;

8 তিনি বলেন, ‘আমার সেনাপতিরা কি সবাই রাজা নয়?

For he saith: —Are not, my generals, all alike, kings?

9 আমার হাতে কল্‌নো কি কর্কমীশের মতো, হমাৎ কি অর্পদের মতো এবং শমরিয়া কি দামাস্কাসের মতো মন্দ বরাত হয়নি?

Is not, Calno, like Carchemish? Is not, Hamath, like Arpad? Is not, Samaria, like Damascus?

10 আমার হাত যেমন প্রতিমায় পূর্ণ রাজ্যগুলিকে অবরুদ্ধ করেছে, সেইসব রাজ্য, যাদের মূর্তিগুলি জেরুশালেম ও শমরিয়াকেও ছাড়িয়ে গেছে,

As my hand hath reached unto the kingdoms of idols, —whose images did excel them of Jerusalem and Samaria,

11 আমি কি জেরুশালেম ও তার মূর্তিগুলির তেমনই অবস্থা করব না, যেমন আমি করেছি শমরিয়া ও তার প্রতিমাদের?’”

Shall I not as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so, do to Jerusalem and her images?

12 প্রভু যখন সিয়োন পর্বত ও জেরুশালেমের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর সব কর্ম সমাপ্ত করবেন, তিনি বলবেন, “অহংকারে পূর্ণ হৃদয় ও উদ্ধত দৃষ্টির জন্য আমি আসিরীয় রাজাকে শাস্তি দেব।

Wherefore it shall come to pass—When My Lord shall finish his whole work upon Mount Zion and upon Jerusalem, I will bring punishment—Upon the fruit of the greatness of heart of the king of Assyria. And upon the vainglory of his uplifted eyes,

13 কারণ সে বলে: “‘আমার হাতের শক্তিতে ও আমার প্রজ্ঞার দ্বারা আমি এই কাজ করেছি, কারণ আমার বুদ্ধি আছে। আমি জাতিসমূহের সীমানাগুলি অপসারিত করেছি, আমি তাদের ধনসম্পদ লুট করেছি; এক পরাক্রমী ব্যক্তির মতো তাদের রাজাদের আমি পদানত করেছি।

For he hath said—By the strength of mine own hand, have I effectually wrought, And by my wisdom—for I have discernment, —That I might remove the bounds of peoples, Yea their treasures, have I plundered That I might lay prostrate as a mighty one the inhabitants;

14 যেমন কেউ পাখির বাসায় হাত দেয়, তেমনই জাতিসমূহের ঐশ্বর্যে আমার হাত পৌঁছেছে; লোকে যেমন পরিত্যক্ত ডিম সংগ্রহ করে, তেমনই আমি সব দেশকে একত্র করেছি; কেউ তার একটিও ডানা ঝাপটায়নি, বা মুখে চিঁ চিঁ শব্দ করেনি।’”

And my hand hath found as a nest the wealth of the peoples, And as the gathering of eggs that are forsaken, all the earth, have, I, gathered, —And there was none to flap a wing, or open a mouth or chirp.

15 কুড়াল কি কাষ্ঠচ্ছেদকের উপরে আস্ফালন করতে পারে? অথবা করাত কি কাঠমিস্ত্রীর বিরুদ্ধে নিজেকে বড়ো মনে করতে পারে? কেউ না চালালে লাঠি কি কাউকে যন্ত্রণা দিতে পারে? কোনো কাঠের মুগুর কি নিজে নিজেই চালিত হয়?

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? Or, the saw, magnify itself, against him that wieldeth it? As if a rod, could wield, them who lift it up! As if a staff, could raise, what is, not wood!

16 সেই কারণে, প্রভু, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু, তাঁর বলবান যোদ্ধাদের মধ্যে একটি ক্ষয়ে যাওয়া রোগ পাঠিয়ে দেবেন; তার সমারোহের মধ্যে একটি আগুন, একটি প্রজ্বলিত আগুনের শিখা জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া হবে।

Therefore, shall the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, Send, among his fat ones, leanness, And under his glory, shall he kindle a kindling, like the kindling of fire;

17 ইস্রায়েলের জ্যোতি আগুনের মতো হবেন, তাদের সেই পবিত্রতম জন এক আগুনের শিখা হবেন; একদিনের মধ্যে তার শিয়ালকাঁটা ও কাঁটাঝোপ দগ্ধ হয়ে গ্রাসিত হবে।

So shall, the Light of Israel, become, a fire, And his Holy One, a flame, Which shall burn and consume his thorns and his briars, in one day;

18 তার অরণ্যগুলির শোভা ও উর্বরা মাঠগুলি তা সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করবে, যেভাবে কোনো অসুস্থ মানুষ ক্ষয় পায়।

And the glory of his forest and of his garden land, both soul and body, shall it bring to an end, —And it shall be like the wasting away of a consumptive.

19 আর অরণ্যের অবশিষ্ট গাছগুলি সংখ্যায় এত অল্প হবে যে একজন শিশু তাদের গণনা করে লিখে ফেলবে।

And, the remnant of his forest-trees, few in number, shall become, —yea, a child, might describe them!

20 সেদিন, ইস্রায়েলের অবশিষ্ট লোকেরা, যাকোবের কুলে যারা বেঁচে থাকবে তারা, তারা আর তার উপরে নির্ভর করবে না যে তাদের আঘাত করে পতিত করেছিল, কিন্তু তারা প্রকৃতই সদাপ্রভুর উপর নির্ভর করবে, যিনি ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্রতম জন।

And it shall come to pass in that day, That the remnant of Israel. And the escaped of the house of Jacob Shall, no more again, lean upon him that smote them, —But shall lean upon Yahweh the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 এক অবশিষ্ট অংশ ফিরে আসবে; যাকোব কুলের এক অবশিষ্ট অংশ, পরাক্রমী ঈশ্বরের কাছে ফিরে আসবে।

A remnant, shall return, The remnant of Jacob, —unto the mighty GOD;

22 যদিও তোমার লোকেরা ও ইস্রায়েল সমুদ্রতীরের বালির মতো হয়, তবুও, এক অবশিষ্টাংশই ফিরে আসবে। ধ্বংসের রায় ঘোষিত হয়েছে, তা হবে প্রবল এবং ন্যায়বিচার অনুযায়ী।

For though thy people, O Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, A [mere] remnant, shall return of them, —A full end decreed, bringeth in, justice, like a flood;

23 প্রভু, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু, সমস্ত দেশের উপরে ঘোষিত ধ্বংসের রায় কার্যকর করবেন।

For, a full end and that a decreed one, is My Lord Yahweh of hosts executing in the midst of all the earth.

24 সেই কারণে, প্রভু, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “সিয়োনে বসবাসকারী, ও আমার প্রজারা, তোমরা আসিরীয়দের থেকে ভীত হোয়ো না, যারা মিশরের মতোই তোমাদের লাঠি দিয়ে প্রহার করেছিল ও তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে মুগুর তুলেছিল।

Therefore, thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh of hosts, Do not fear O my people dwelling in Zion, because of Assyria, —When with his rod, he would smite thee, And when his staff, he would lift up against thee in the manner of Egypt;

25 খুব শীঘ্রই তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আমার ক্রোধের পরিসমাপ্তি হবে, আর আমার রোষ তাদের ধ্বংসের প্রতি চালিত হবে।”

For, yet a very little while, and displeasure shall end, Yea, mine anger, over their destruction.

26 সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু তাদের এক চাবুক দিয়ে প্রহার করবেন, যেভাবে তিনি ওরেব-শৈলে মিদিয়নকে যন্ত্রণা দিয়েছিলেন; তিনি তাঁর লাঠি জলরাশির উপরে তুলবেন, যেমন তিনি মিশরে করেছিলেন।

And Yahweh of hosts, will brandish over him, a scourge—Like the smiting of Midian at the rock Oreb, —And his staff being over the sea, He will lift it up in the manner of Egypt;

27 সেদিন, তোমাদের কাঁধে দেওয়া তাদের বোঝা ও তোমাদের ঘাড় থেকে তাদের জোয়াল তুলে নেওয়া হবে; সেই জোয়াল ভেঙে ফেলা হবে, কারণ তোমরা ভীষণ হৃষ্টপুষ্ট হয়েছ।

And it shall come to pass, in that day, That his burden shall remove from off thy shoulder, And his yoke from off thy neck, —Yea, the yoke shall be broken because of fatness.

28 তারা অয়াতে প্রবেশ করেছে; তারা মিগ্রোণের মধ্য দিয়ে অতিক্রম করেছে; তারা মিক্‌মসে তাদের দ্রব্যসামগ্রী সঞ্চয় করেছে।

He hath come in unto Ayyath, Hath passed through Migron, —At Michmash, storeth his baggage:

29 তারা গিরিপথ অতিক্রম করে ও বলে, “আমরা রাত্রির মধ্যে গেবাতে শিবির স্থাপন করব।” রামা ভয়ে কম্পিত হয়; শৌলের গিবিয়া পলায়ন করে।

They have passed over the pass, Geba is his halting-place, —Terror-stricken is Ramah, Gibeah of Saul, hath fled!

30 গল্লীমের কন্যারা, তোমরা ক্রন্দন করো! ও লয়িশার লোকেরা, তোমরা শ্রবণ করো! হায়! দুঃখী অনাথোৎ!

Make shrill thy voice, O daughter of Gallim! Hearken, O Laishah, Answer, O Anathoth!

31 মদ্‌মেনার লোকেরা পালিয়ে যাচ্ছে; গেবীমের লোকেরা নিজেদের লুকাচ্ছে।

Madmenah, hath fled, —The inhabitants of Gebim, have gone into safety:

32 আজকের দিনে তারা নোবে গিয়ে স্থগিত হবে; সে সিয়োন-কন্যার পর্বতের দিকে, জেরুশালেমের পাহাড়ের দিকে তার মুষ্টি আন্দোলিত করছে।

While yet to-day, in Nob, he tarrieth, He brandisheth his hand toward The mount of the daughter of Zion, The hill of Jerusalem.

33 দেখো, প্রভু, সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু, মহাপরাক্রমে বৃক্ষশাখাগুলি কেটে ফেলবেন। উঁচু সব গাছ পতিত হবে, লম্বা গাছগুলিকে মাটিতে ফেলা হবে।

Behold! the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, is about to lop off a tree-crown, with a crash, —Then shall, they who are lifted on high, be hewn down, And, the lofty, be laid low;

34 বনের ঘন জঙ্গলকে তিনি কুড়াল দিয়ে কেটে ফেলবেন সেই পরাক্রমী জনের সামনে লেবানন পতিত হবে।

Then will he fell the thickets of the forest with iron, —And, Lebanon by a majestic one shall fall.
