1 “তোমাদের ভাইদের বলো, ‘আমার প্রজা’ এবং তোমাদের বোনেদের বলো, ‘আমার প্রিয়পাত্রী।’

“On that day you will call your brothers Ammi, and you will call your sisters Ruhamah.

2 “তোমাদের মাকে তিরস্কার করো, তিরস্কার করো তাকে, কারণ সে আমার স্ত্রী নয়, এবং আমিও তার স্বামী নই। সে তার মুখমণ্ডল থেকে ব্যভিচারী চাউনি এবং তার স্তনযুগলের মধ্য থেকে অবিশ্বস্ততা দূর করুক।

Condemn your mother, condemn her because she is not my wife and I am not her husband. Tell her to stop looking like a prostitute—get rid of the makeup and the provocative clothing.

3 তা না হলে আমি তাকে বিবস্ত্র করব এবং জন্মক্ষণে সে যেমন ছিল, তেমনই তাকে উলঙ্গ রেখে দেব; আমি তাকে এক মরুপ্রান্তর সদৃশ করব, তাকে এক শুষ্ক-ভূমিতে পরিণত করব এবং পিপাসায় তার প্রাণ হরণ করব।

Otherwise I will strip her naked as the day she was born, and make her like a desert, a barren land, and let her die of thirst.

4 আমি তার ছেলেমেয়েদের প্রতি ভালোবাসা প্রদর্শন করব না, কারণ তারা ব্যভিচারের সন্তান।

I will have no pity on her children because they are children of prostitution.

5 তাদের মা অবিশ্বস্ত হয়েছে ও কলঙ্কিত হয়ে তাদের গর্ভে ধারণ করেছে। সে বলেছে, ‘আমি আমার প্রেমিকদের পশ্চাদগামী হব, যারা আমার অন্নজল, আমার পশম ও মসিনার পোশাক, আমার তেল ও আমার পানীয় যুগিয়ে দেয়।’

For their mother was a prostitute who conceived them in a shameful way. She said, ‘I'll run after my lovers who give me my food and water, my wool and flax and olive oil, and my drink.’

6 তাই আমি কাঁটাঝোপে তার পথ রুদ্ধ করব; আমি তাকে প্রাচীরের মধ্যে অবরুদ্ধ করব, যেন সে তার সেই পথ খুঁজে না পায়।

That is why I am going to block her path with thorn bushes, and build a stone wall to stop her so she won't find her way.

7 সে তার প্রেমিকদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করবে, কিন্তু তাদের নাগাল পাবে না; সে তাদের অন্বেষণ করবে, কিন্তু তাদের সন্ধান পাবে না। তখন সে বলবে, ‘আমি আমার প্রথম স্বামীর কাছে ফিরে যাব, কারণ তখন আমি এখনকার চেয়ে ভালো ছিলাম।’

When she runs after her lovers she won't catch up with them; she'll look for them but she won't find them. Then she'll say, ‘Let me go back to my former husband, because it was better for me then than now.’

8 সে স্বীকার করেনি যে, আমিই সেই জন যে তাকে শস্য, নতুন দ্রাক্ষারস ও তেল দিতাম, তাকে অপরিমিত পরিমাণে সোনা ও রুপো দিতাম, যা তারা বায়াল-দেবতার উদ্দেশে ব্যবহার করেছে।

She doesn't consider that it was me who gave her grain, new wine, and olive oil; the silver and the gold which I gave her abundantly that they made into an idol of Baal.

9 “অতএব, আমার শস্য পরিপক্ব হলে ও আমার নতুন দ্রাক্ষারস তৈরি হলে, আমি সেগুলি অপসারিত করব। তার নগ্নতা নিবারণের জন্য দেওয়া, আমার পশম ও মসিনার পোশাক আমি ফেরত নেব।

So I will take back my ripened grain and my new wine I gave at harvest time. I will take back my wool and my flax I provided to cover her nakedness.

10 তাই এখন আমি তার প্রেমিকদের সামনে তার চরিত্রহীনতার কথা প্রকাশ করব; আমার হাত থেকে কেউ তাকে নিস্তার করতে পারবে না।

I will strip her naked while her lovers watch; no one will be able to rescue her from me.

11 আমি তার সমস্ত আনন্দ উদ্‌যাপন, তার বাৎসরিক উৎসব-অনুষ্ঠান, তার অমাবস্যা, সাব্বাথদিনগুলি ও তার নিরূপিত পালাপার্বনগুলি আমি বন্ধ করে দেব।

I will put a stop to all her festivities: her feasts, new moon celebrations, special Sabbaths—all her festivals.

12 আমি তার সব দ্রাক্ষালতা, তার ডুমুর গাছগুলি আমি ধ্বংস করব, কারণ সে বলেছিল যে, সেগুলি তার প্রেমিকদের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া বেতনস্বরূপ; আমি সেগুলিকে ঘন ঝোপঝাড়ে পরিণত করব, বন্যপশুরা সেগুলি গ্রাস করবে।

I will destroy her vines and fig trees that she said were given to her as payment for being a prostitute. I will turn them into scrub-land; only wild animals will eat the remaining fruit.

13 বায়াল-দেবতাদের উদ্দেশে সে যতদিন ধূপদাহ করেছিল, তার জন্য আমি তাকে শাস্তি দেব; সে আংটি ও বিভিন্ন অলংকারে নিজেকে সজ্জিত করত এবং তার প্রেমিকদের পশ্চাদগামী হত, কিন্তু আমাকে সে ভুলে গিয়েছিল,” সদাপ্রভু একথা ঘোষণা করেন।

I will punish her for all the times she offered incense to Baal, dressing herself up, putting on rings and jewelry, going after her lovers, but forgetting about me, declares the Lord.

14 “অতএব আমি এখন তাকে বিমোহিত করব; তাকে মরুপ্রান্তরের পথে চালিত করব, ও তার সঙ্গে কোমল স্বরে কথা বলব।

See what I'm going to do! I will win her back, taking her into the desert where I will speak to her heart-to-heart.

15 সেখানে আমি তাকে তার দ্রাক্ষাকুঞ্জ ফিরিয়ে দেব এবং আখোর উপত্যকাকে তৈরি করব এক আশার দুয়ারে। সেখানে সে তার যৌবনকালের দিনগুলির মতো প্রতিক্রিয়া করবে, যেমন যেদিন সে মিশর ছেড়ে বের হয়ে এসেছিল।”

There I will return her vineyards to her and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond to me as she did when she was young, as in the time when she left the land of Egypt.

16 সদাপ্রভু বলেন, “সেদিন, তুমি আমাকে ‘আমার স্বামী’ বলে সম্বোধন করবে; তুমি আর আমাকে ‘আমার প্রভু’ বলে সম্বোধন করবে না।

Then on that day, says the Lord, you will call me ‘my husband’ and not ‘my Baal.’

17 আমি তার ওষ্ঠাধর থেকে যাবতীয় বায়াল-দেবতার নাম মুছে দেব; তাদের নাম আর কখনও উচ্চারণ করা হবে না।

I will stop her appealing to the Baals—their names won't be mentioned ever again.

18 সেদিন আমি তাদের হয়ে মাঠের সমস্ত পশু, আকাশের সমস্ত পাখি এবং মাটিতে বিচরণকারী যাবতীয় সরীসৃপের সঙ্গে একটি চুক্তি করব। আমি দেশ থেকে লোপ করব ধনুক, তরোয়াল ও যুদ্ধ যেন সকলে নিরাপদে শয়ন করতে পারে।

At that time I will make a solemn agreement with the wild animals and the birds of the sky and the creeping things of the ground. I will do away with the bow and the sword; I will abolish war from the land so you can lie down in safety.

19 আমি তোমাকে চিরকালের জন্য আমার আপন করার জন্য বাগ্‌দান করব; আমি তোমাকে ধার্মিকতায়, ন্যায়বিচারে, প্রেমে ও করুণায় বাগ্‌দান করব।

I will make you my wife forever; I will make you my wife in goodness and justice and love and mercy.

20 আমি বিশ্বস্ততার সঙ্গে তোমাকে বাগ্‌দান করব, এর ফলে তুমি সদাপ্রভুকে জানতে পারবে।”

I will be faithful to you, my wife, and you will know me as the Lord.

21 সদাপ্রভু বলেন, “সেদিন আমি সাড়া দেব, আমি আকাশমণ্ডলের ডাকে সাড়া দেব আর তারা ধরিত্রীর আহ্বানে সাড়া দেবে;

On that day, declares the Lord, I will answer the heavens and they will answer the earth.

22 এবং ধরিত্রী তখন শস্য, নতুন দ্রাক্ষারস ও তেলের ডাকে সাড়া দেবে এবং তারা সকলে যিষ্রিয়েলকে সাড়া দেবে।

The earth will answer the grain, and the new wine, and the olive oil, and they shall answer, ‘Jezreel’ (God sows).

23 আমি আমারই জন্য তাকে দেশের মধ্যে রোপণ করব; তাঁর প্রতি আমি আমার প্রেম প্রদর্শন করব, যাকে এক সময় বলেছিলাম, ‘তুমি আমার প্রিয়পাত্রী নও।’ যাদের আমি এক সময় বলেছিলাম, ‘আমার প্রজা নও,’ তাদের আমি বলব, ‘তোমরা আমার প্রজা’; আর তারা বলবে, ‘তুমি আমার ঈশ্বর।’”

I will ‘sow’ her for myself in the earth. I will love Lo-ruhamah (unloved) and I will say ‘you are my people’ to Lo-ammi (not my people), and they will say ‘You are my God.’”
