1 হবক্কূক ভাববাদী যিনি ভাববাণী পেয়েছিলেন।
The prophecy which was revealed to the prophet Habakkuk.
2 হে সদাপ্রভু, আর কত কাল আমি সাহায্য চাইব, কিন্তু তুমি শোনো না? অথবা তোমাকে কেঁদে বলি, “অত্যাচার সর্বত্রই!” কিন্তু তুমি উদ্ধার করো না?
How long, O Jehovah, do I cry, and thou dost not hear! How long do I complain to thee of violence, and thou dost not save!
3 কেন তুমি আমাকে অন্যায় দেখতে বাধ্য করছ? আর কেন তুমি অপরাধ সহ্য করছ? ধ্বংস আর অত্যাচার আমার সামনে ঘটছে; বিবাদ আর মতবিরোধ চারিদিকে ছড়িয়ে রয়েছে।
Why dost thou suffer me to see iniquity, And why dost thou look upon wickedness? For spoiling and violence are before me; There is contention, and strife exalteth itself.
4 সুতরাং, বিধান শক্তিহীন হয়েছে, এবং ন্যায়বিচার কখনোই প্রতিষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে না। দুষ্টরা বিচার নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছে, যেন ন্যায়বিচার বিকৃত হয়।
Therefore the law faileth, And judgment is not pronounced according to truth; For the wicked encompasseth the righteous, Therefore wrong judgment is pronounced.
5 “জাতিগণদের দিকে তাকিয়ে দেখো এবং সম্পূর্ণরূপে আশ্চর্য হও। কারণ আমি তোমাদের দিনে এমন কিছু করব যা তোমাদের বলা হলেও, তোমরা বিশ্বাস করবে না।
Behold ye among the nations, and look! Yea, wonder, and be astonished! For I do a work in your days Which ye will not believe though it be told you.
6 দেখো আমি ব্যাবিলনীয়দের উত্থান ঘটাচ্ছি, এক নিষ্ঠুর ও দুর্দমনীয় জাতি, যারা অন্যদের বাসস্থান অধিকার করার জন্য সমগ্র পৃথিবীতে অগ্রসর হয়।
For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, A fierce and swift people, Which go over the breadth of the earth, To take possession of dwelling-places that are not their own.
7 তারা ভয়ানক এবং ভয়ংকর প্রকৃতির লোক; তারা নিজেরাই আইন তৈরি করে এবং নিজেদের গৌরব নিজেরাই করে।
They are terrible and dreadful; From themselves go forth their law and their dignity.
8 তাদের ঘোড়া চিতাবাঘের থেকেও দ্রুতগামী, সন্ধ্যাকালের নেকড়ের থেকেও ভয়ানক। তাদের অশ্বারোহী বাহিনী গর্বের সঙ্গে এগিয়ে যায়; তাদের ঘোড়সত্তয়ার অনেক দূরদূরান্ত থেকে আসে। তারা তাদের শিকারকে গ্রাস করতে ঈগল পাখির মতো ছোঁ মারে,
Their horses are swifter than leopards, And fiercer than evening wolves. Their horsemen leap proudly; Their horsemen come from far; They fly like an eagle, hastening to devour.
9 তারা সবাই অত্যাচার করতে আসে, তাদের দলবল মরুভূমির বায়ুর মতো অগ্রসর হয় তারা বন্দিদের বালির কণার মতো একত্রিত করে।
All of them come for violence; The multitude of their faces is directed forwards, And they gather captives as sand.
10 তারা রাজাদের বিদ্রুপ করে আর শাসকদের অবজ্ঞা করে। তারা সব উঁচু প্রাচীরে সুরক্ষিত নগরের উপহাস করে; মাটি স্তূপ করে সেইসব নগর অধিকার করে।
They also scoff at kings, And princes are to them a laughing-stock; They deride every stronghold, For they heap up earth and take it.
11 তখন তারা প্রচণ্ড বাতাসের মতো বয়ে যায় ও এগিয়ে চলে, কিন্তু তারা অপরাধী; কারণ তাদের শক্তিই তাদের দেবতা।”
Then their spirit is uplifted, and they transgress, and become guilty; This their strength is made their god.
12 হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি কি অনন্তকাল থেকে নও? আমার ঈশ্বর, আমার পবিত্র ঈশ্বর, তোমার কখনও মৃত্যু নেই। তুমি, হে সদাপ্রভু, বিচার করার জন্য এই ব্যাবিলনীয়দের নিযুক্ত করেছ; তুমি, হে আমার শৈল, শাস্তি দেবার জন্য তাদের নিরূপিত করেছ।
Art thou not from everlasting, O Jehovah, my God, my Holy One? We shall not die! Thou, O Jehovah, hast appointed them for judgment; Thou, O Rock, hast ordained them for chastisement.
13 তোমার চোখ এত পবিত্র যে মন্দ দেখতে পারে না; তুমি দুষ্কর্ম সহ্য করতে পারো না। তবে কেন তুমি বিশ্বাসঘাতকদের সহ্য করছ? কেন তুমি নীরব রয়েছ যখন দুষ্টরা তাদের থেকে যারা ধার্মিক তাদের গ্রাস করছে?
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, And canst not look on wickedness; Why then dost thou look on transgressors, And art silent, when the wicked swalloweth up the man that is more righteous than he?
14 তুমি মানুষদের সমুদ্রের মাছের মতো করেছ, সামুদ্রিক জীবের মতো যাদের কোনও শাসক নেই।
And why makest thou men as the fishes of the sea, As the reptiles that have no ruler?
15 দুষ্ট শত্রু তাদের সকলকে বড়শিতে তোলে, সে তাদেরকে নিজের জালে ধরে, তারপর টানা-জালে তাদের একত্রিত করে; তাই সে আনন্দ করে ও উল্লসিত হয়।
They take up all of them with the hook, They catch them in their net, And gather them in their drag; Therefore they rejoice and exult.
16 সেই কারণে সে তার জালের উদ্দ্যেশ্যে বলি উৎসর্গ করে এবং টানা-জালের প্রতি ধূপ জ্বালায়, কারণ তার জালের কারণেই সে বিলাসিতায় বাস করে এবং পছন্দতম খাবার উপভোগ করে।
Therefore they sacrifice to their net, And burn incense to their drag; Because by them their portion is fat, And their food plenteous.
17 এই জন্য কি সে নিজের জাল খালি করতে থাকবে, নির্দয়ভাবে জাতিগণকে ধ্বংস করতে থাকবে?
Shall they therefore empty the net, And slay the nations continually without mercy?
