1 “তুমি ইস্রায়েলের শাসনকর্তাদের জন্য বিলাপ
Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the rulers of Israel,
2 করে বলো, “‘সিংহদের মধ্যে তোমার মা ছিল সেরা সিংহী! সে যুবসিংহদের মধ্যে শুয়ে থাকত; তার শাবকদের সে লালনপালন করত।
and say, What was thy mother? A lioness. She couched among lions. In the midst of the young lions she nourished her whelps.
3 তার একটি শাবক বড়ো হয়ে শক্তিশালী সিংহ হয়ে উঠল। সে পশু শিকার করতে শিখল আর মানুষ খেতে লাগল।
And she brought up one of her whelps. He became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.
4 জাতিরা তার বিষয় শুনতে পেল, আর সে তাদের গর্তে ধরা পড়ল। তারা তার নাকে বড়শি পরিয়ে মিশর দেশে নিয়ে গেল।
The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit, and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.
5 “‘যখন সে দেখল তার আশা পূর্ণ হল না, তার প্রত্যাশা চলে গেছে, সে আর তার একটি শাবক নিয়ে তাকে শক্তিশালী সিংহ করে তুলল।
Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.
6 সেই শাবক সিংহদের মধ্যে ঘোরাঘুরি করে কারণ সে একটি শক্তিশালী সিংহ হয়ে উঠেছিল। সে পশু শিকার করতে শিখল আর মানুষ খেতে লাগল।
And he went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.
7 সে তাদের দুর্গগুলি ভাঙল আর নগর সব ধ্বংস করে ফেলল। সেই দেশ ও সেখানে যারা বাস করত তারা তার গর্জনে ভয় পেল।
And he knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities. And the land was desolate, and the fullness of it, because of the noise of his roaring.
8 তখন তার চারপাশের জাতিরা তার বিরুদ্ধে দাড়াল। তার উপরে তাদের জাল পাতল, আর সে তাদের গর্তে ধরা পড়ল।
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and they spread their net over him. He was taken in their pit.
9 তাকে বড়শি পরিয়ে খাঁচায় পুরল আর তাকে ব্যাবিলনের রাজার কাছে নিয়ে গেল। তাকে কারাগারে রাখল যেন তার গর্জন আর শোনা না যায় ইস্রায়েলের কোনও পাহাড়ে।
And they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
10 “‘তোমার দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে তোমার মা জলের ধারে লাগানো একটি দ্রাক্ষালতার মতো ছিল, প্রচুর জল পাবার দরুন তা ছিল ফল ও ডালপালায় ভরা।
Thy mother was like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters. It was fruitful and full of branches because of many waters.
11 তার ডালগুলি ছিল শক্ত শাসনকর্তার রাজদণ্ড হওয়ার উপযুক্ত। সে খুব উঁচু এবং ডালপালায় ভরা সেইজন্য তাকে সুস্পষ্টভাবে দেখা যায় তার বহু শাখার জন্য।
And it had strong twigs for the scepters of those who bore rule. And their stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.
12 কিন্তু ক্রোধের প্রকোপে সেটিকে নির্মূল করে মাটিতে ফেলা হল। পূবের বাতাসে সেটি কুঁকড়ে গেল, তার ফল পড়ে গেল; তার শক্ত ডালগুলি শুকিয়ে গেল এবং আগুন সেগুলিকে গ্রাস করল।
But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong twigs were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.
13 এখন সেটি কে মরুভূমিতে, শুকনো, জলহীন দেশে লাগানো হয়েছে।
And now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.
14 তার একটি ডাল থেকে আগুন ছড়িয়ে পড়ল এবং তার ফল আগুন গ্রাস করল। শাসনকর্তার রাজদণ্ড হওয়ার উপযুক্ত কোনও শক্ত ডাল আর রইল না।’ এটি একটি বিলাপ এবং এটি বিলাপ হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হবে।”
And fire has gone out of the twigs of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is no strong twig in it to be a scepter to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
