1 তোমাদের কথা বলতে হলে, তোমরা নিজের নিজের অপরাধে ও পাপে মৃত ছিলে,
At one time you were dead in your sins and evil actions,
2 যেগুলির মধ্যে তোমরা জীবনযাপন করতে। তখন তোমরা এই জগতের ও আকাশের রাজ্যশাসকের পথ অনুসরণ করতে, যে আত্মা এখন যারা অবাধ্য, তাদের মধ্যে কার্যকরী রয়েছে। (aiōn g165)
living your lives according to the ways of the world, under the control of the devil, whose spirit is at work in those who disobey God. (aiōn g165)
3 আমরাও সকলে এক সময় তাদেরই মধ্যে জীবনযাপন করতাম। আমাদের পাপময় প্রকৃতির বাসনাকে চরিতার্থ করার জন্য আমরা তার কামনা ও ভাবনার বশে চলতাম। অন্য সকলের মতো, স্বভাবগতভাবে আমরা ছিলাম (ঈশ্বরের) ক্রোধের পাত্র।
All of us were once like that, our behavior determined by the desires of our sinful human nature and our evil way of thinking. Like everyone else, in our nature we were children of anger.
4 কিন্তু আমাদের প্রতি মহাপ্রেমের জন্য ঈশ্বর, যিনি অপার করুণাময়,
But God in his generous mercy, because of the amazing love he had for us
5 আমরা যখন অপরাধের ফলে মৃত হয়েছিলাম, তখনই তিনি খ্রীষ্টের সঙ্গে আমাদের জীবিত করলেন। আর তোমরা অনুগ্রহেই পরিত্রাণ লাভ করেছ।
even while we were dead in our sins, has made us alive together with Christ. Trusting in him has saved you!
6 ঈশ্বর খ্রীষ্টের সঙ্গে আমাদের পুনরুত্থিত করে তাঁরই সঙ্গে আমাদের স্বর্গীয় স্থানে বসিয়েছেন,
He raised us up with Christ, and in Christ Jesus seated us with him in heaven,
7 যেন খ্রীষ্ট যীশুতে আমাদের প্রতি তাঁর যে করুণা প্রকাশ পেয়েছে, আগামী দিনেও তিনি তাঁর সেই অতুলনীয় অনুগ্রহের ঐশ্বর্য প্রদর্শন করতে পারেন। (aiōn g165)
so that in all eternity to come he could demonstrate the amazing extent of his grace in showing us kindness through Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)
8 কারণ বিশ্বাসের মাধ্যমে অনুগ্রহের দ্বারাই তোমরা পরিত্রাণ লাভ করেছ। তা তোমাদের থেকে হয়নি, কিন্তু ঈশ্বরেরই দান।
For you've been saved by grace through trusting in him—it's not through yourselves, it's the gift of God!
9 তা কোনো কাজের ফল নয় যে তা নিয়ে কেউ গর্ববোধ করবে।
This has nothing to do with human effort, so don't be proud of yourselves.
10 কারণ আমরা ঈশ্বরের রচনা, সৎকর্ম করার জন্য খ্রীষ্ট যীশুতে সৃষ্ট, যা তিনি পূর্ব থেকেই আমাদের করার জন্য প্রস্তুত করেছিলেন।
We're the product of what God does, created in Christ Jesus to do good, which God already planned that we should do.
11 অতএব স্মরণ করো, এক সময় তোমরা, যারা জন্মসূত্রে অইহুদি ছিলে, মানুষের হাতে করা “সুন্নতপ্রাপ্ত” ব্যক্তিরা তোমাদের “সুন্নতহীন” বলে অভিহিত করত।
So you who are “foreigners” humanly-speaking, called “uncircumcised” by those who are “circumcised” (which is only a procedure carried out by human beings), you need to remember
12 স্মরণ করো, সেই সময় তোমরা খ্রীষ্টের কাছ থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন ছিলে, ইস্রায়েলের নাগরিকত্বের সঙ্গে তোমরা ছিলে সম্পর্কহীন এবং প্রতিশ্রুতির নিয়মের কাছে ছিলে অসম্পর্কিত। তোমাদের কোনও আশা ছিল না এবং পৃথিবীতে তোমরা ছিলে ঈশ্বরবিহীন।
that once you had no relationship to Christ. You were barred as foreigners from being citizens of Israel, strangers to the agreement God had promised. You had no hope and you lived in the world without God.
13 কিন্তু তোমরা যারা এক সময় বহু দূরবর্তী ছিলে, এখন খ্রীষ্ট যীশুতে তাঁর রক্তের মাধ্যমে নিকটবর্তী হয়েছ।
But now, in Christ Jesus, you who were once a long way off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
14 কারণ তিনি স্বয়ং আমাদের শান্তি। তিনি উভয়কে এক করেছেন এবং প্রতিবন্ধকতাকে ধ্বংস করেছেন, বিদ্বেষের প্রাচীর ভেঙে ফেলেছেন,
Christ is our peace. Through his body he made the two into one, and broke down the separating wall of hostility that divided us,
15 বিধান ও তার নির্দেশমালা, নিয়ন্ত্রণবিধি, সব নিজের শরীরে বিলোপ করেই তা করেছেন। উভয়কে নিয়ে নিজের মধ্যে এক নতুন মানুষ গড়ে তোলা এবং এভাবে শান্তি প্রতিষ্ঠা করাই ছিল তাঁর উদ্দেশ্য।
freeing us from the law with its requirements and regulations. He did this so he could create in himself one new person out of the two and so make peace,
16 আর এই এক দেহে, ক্রুশের মাধ্যমে তিনি উভয়কে ঈশ্বরের সঙ্গে সম্মিলিত করেছেন, যার দ্বারা তিনি দু-পক্ষের শত্রুতার অবসান ঘটিয়েছেন।
and completely reconcile both of them to God through the cross as if they were just one body, having destroyed our hostility towards each other.
17 তোমরা যারা ছিলে বহুদূরে, আর যারা ছিলে কাছে, তোমাদের সকলের কাছে তিনি এসে শান্তির বাণী প্রচার করেছেন।
He came and shared the good news of peace with those of you who were far away, and those who were nearby,
18 কারণ তাঁরই মাধ্যমে আমরা দু-পক্ষ একই আত্মার দ্বারা পিতার সান্নিধ্যে আসার অধিকার লাভ করেছি।
because through him we both gain access to the Father through the same Spirit.
19 অতএব, তোমরা আর অসম্পর্কিত ও বহিরাগত নও, তোমরা এখন ঈশ্বরের প্রজাদের সহনাগরিক এবং ঈশ্বরের পরিবারের সদস্য।
That means you're no longer strangers and foreigners; you are fellow citizens of God's people and belong to God's family
20 প্রেরিতশিষ্যবর্গ ও ভাববাদীদের ভিত্তিমূলের উপর তোমাদের গেঁথে তোলা হয়েছে, স্বয়ং খ্রীষ্ট যীশু যার কোণের প্রধান পাথর।
that's being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone.
21 তাঁরই মধ্যে সমগ্র কাঠামো একত্রে সন্নিবদ্ধ এবং প্রভুতে তা এক পবিত্র মন্দিররূপে গড়ে উঠছে।
In him the whole building is joined together, growing to form a holy temple for the Lord.
22 তাঁতে তোমাদেরও একসঙ্গে একটি আবাসরূপে গঠন করা হচ্ছে, যেখানে ঈশ্বর তাঁর আত্মায় অধিষ্ঠান করেন।
You too are being built together in him as a place for God to live by the Spirit.
