দ্বিতীয় বিবরণ 3

1 পরে আমরা ঘুরে বাশনের পথে উঠে গেলাম। আর বাশনের রাজা ওগ তাঁর সৈন্যদল নিয়ে আমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য ইদ্রিয়ীতে এলেন।

'And we turn, and go up the way to Bashan, and Og king of Bashan cometh out to meet us, he and all his people, to battle, [to] Edrei.

2 সদাপ্রভু আমাকে বললেন, “তাকে ভয় পেয়ো না। আমি তাকে, তার সমস্ত সেনাবাহিনী ও তার দেশ তোমার হাতে সমর্পণ করেছি। তার প্রতি সেরকমই কোরো, যেমন তুমি ইমোরীয়দের রাজা সীহোনের প্রতি করেছিলে, যে হিষ্‌বোনে রাজত্ব করত।”

'And Jehovah saith unto me, Fear him not, for into thy hand I have given him, and all his people, and his land, and thou hast done to him as thou hast done to Sihon king of the Amorite who is dwelling in Heshbon.

3 এইভাবে আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু বাশনের রাজা ওগ ও তার সমগ্র সেনাবাহিনী আমাদের হাতে দিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন। আমরা তাদের আঘাত করলাম, কাউকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখিনি।

'And Jehovah our God giveth into our hands also Og king of Bashan, and all his people, and we smite him till there hath not been left to him a remnant;

4 সেই সময় আমরা তাঁর সবগুলি নগরই দখল করলাম। তাঁর ষাটটি নগরের সবগুলোই আমরা দখল করে নিয়েছিলাম, এমন একটিও ছিল না যা আমরা নিইনি—অর্গোবের সমস্ত এলাকা, বাশনে ওগের রাজ্য।

and we capture all his cities at that time, there hath not been a city which we have not taken from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 সেইসব নগর উঁচু প্রাচীর দিয়ে ঘেরা ছিল আর তাতে দ্বার ও হুড়কা ছিল, আর সেখানে অনেক গ্রামও ছিল যেগুলি প্রাচীর দিয়ে ঘেরা ছিল না।

All these [are] cities fenced with high walls, two-leaved doors and bar, apart from cities of villages very many;

6 আমরা সেগুলি সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিলাম, যেমন আমরা হিষ্‌বোনের রাজা সীহোনের প্রতি করেছিলাম, প্রত্যেক নগর ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিলাম—পুরুষ, মহিলা ও শিশুদের।

and we devote them, as we have done to Sihon king of Heshbon, devoting every city, men, the women, and the infants;

7 কিন্তু পশুপাল এবং নগর থেকে লুট করা জিনিসপত্র আমরা নিজেদের জন্য নিয়ে আসলাম।

and all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we have spoiled for ourselves.

8 সেই সময় আমরা অর্ণোন উপত্যকা থেকে হর্মোণ পর্বত পর্যন্ত জর্ডন নদীর পূর্বদিকের এলাকাটি এই দুজন ইমোরীয় রাজার হাত থেকে নিয়ে নিয়েছিলাম।

'And we take, at that time, the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorite, which is beyond the Jordan, from the brook Arnon unto mount Hermon;

9 (সীদোনীয়েরা হর্মোণকে সিরিয়োণ বলে আর ইমোরীয়েরা বলে সনীর)

(Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion; and the Amorites call it Senir, )

10 আমরা মালভূমির সমস্ত নগর, গিলিয়দের সব এলাকা এবং বাশনের রাজা ওগের রাজ্যের সল্‌খা ও ইদ্রিয়ী প্রর্যন্ত গোটা বাশন দেশটি দখল করে নিয়েছিলাম।

all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan,

11 (রফায়ীয়দের বাকি লোকদের মধ্যে কেবল বাশনের রাজা ওগই বেঁচেছিলেন। তাঁর লোহার তৈরি শোবার খাটটি ছিল লম্বায় তেরো ফুটের বেশি এবং চওড়ায় ছয় ফুট। সেটি এখনও অম্মোনীয়দের রব্বাতে আছে।)

for only Og king of Bashan had been left of the remnant of the Rephaim; lo, his bedstead [is] a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? nine cubits its length, and four cubits its breadth, by the cubit of a man.

12 সেই সময় আমরা যে দেশ অধিকার করেছিলাম, আমি অর্ণোন উপত্যকার কাছে অরোয়ের উত্তর দিকের এলাকা পর্যন্ত এবং গিলিয়দের পাহাড়ি এলাকার অর্ধেক ও সেখানকার সব নগর রূবেণীয়দের ও গাদীয়দের দিলাম।

'And this land we have possessed, at that time; from Aroer, which [is] by the brook Arnon, and the half of mount Gilead, and its cities, I have given to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite;

13 গিলিয়দের বাকি অংশ এবং রাজা ওগের গোটা বাশন রাজ্যটি আমি মনঃশির অর্ধেক বংশকে দিলাম। (বাশনের মধ্যবর্তী সমস্ত অর্গোব এলাকাটিকে রফায়ীয়দের দেশ বলা হত।

and the rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I have given to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, to all that Bashan, called the land of Rephaim.

14 যায়ীর, মনঃশির এক বংশধর, গশূরীয়দের ও মাখাথীয়দের সীমানা পর্যন্ত অর্গোবের গোটা এলাকাটি দখল করে নিজের নাম অনুসারে তার নাম রেখেছিল, আজ পর্যন্ত বাশনকে হব্বোৎ-যায়ীর বলা হয়ে থাকে)

'Jair son of Manasseh hath taken all the region of Argob, unto the border of Geshuri, and Maachathi, and calleth them by his own name, Bashan-Havoth-Jair, unto this day.

15 আর আমি মাখীরকে গিলিয়দ এলাকাটি দিলাম।

And to Machir I have given Gilead.

16 কিন্তু গিলিয়দ থেকে অর্ণোন উপত্যকার (মাঝখানের সীমারেখাটি পর্যন্ত) সমস্ত এলাকা এবং সেখান থেকে অম্মোনীয়দের সীমানা যব্বোক নদী পর্যন্ত আমি রূবেণীয়দের ও গাদীয়দের দিলাম।

'And to the Reubenite and to the Gadite I have given from Gilead even unto the brook Arnon, the middle of the valley and the border, even unto Jabbok the brook, the border of the sons of Ammon,

17 পশ্চিমদিকে তাদের সীমানা ছিল অরাবার জর্ডন নদী, কিন্নেরৎ থেকে অরাবা (লবণ-সমুদ্র), পিস্‌গা পাহাড়শ্রেণীর ঢালু অংশের নিচে।

and the plain, and the Jordan, and the border, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, the salt sea, under the springs of Pisgah, at the [sun] -rising.

18 সেই সময় আমি তোমাদের আদেশ করেছিলাম, “তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু এই দেশটি তোমাদের দখল করবার জন্য দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু তোমাদের মধ্যে যাদের গায়ে জোর আছে সেইসব লোককে যুদ্ধের জন্য তৈরি হয়ে ইস্রায়েলী ভাইদের আগে আগে নদী পার হয়ে যেতে হবে।

'And I command you, at that time, saying, Jehovah your God hath given to you this land to possess it; armed ye pass over before your brethren the sons of Israel, all the sons of might.

19 তবে তোমাদের যেসব নগর আমি দিয়েছি সেখানে তোমাদের স্ত্রী, ছেলেমেয়ে আর পশুপাল রেখে যেতে পারবে (আমি জানি তোমাদের অনেক পশু আছে),

Only, your wives, and your infants, and your cattle — I have known that ye have much cattle — do dwell in your cities which I have given to you,

20 যতদিন পর্যন্ত সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের মতো করে তোমাদের ভাইদেরও বিশ্রামের সুযোগ না দেন এবং জর্ডনের ওপাড়ে যে দেশটি তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাদের দিতে যাচ্ছেন তা তারা অধিকার না করে। তারপর, যে জায়গা তোমাদের অধিকারের জন্য দেওয়া হয়েছে সেখানে প্রত্যেকে ফিরে আসবে।”

till that Jehovah give rest to your brethren like yourselves, and they also have possessed the land which Jehovah your God is giving to them beyond the Jordan, then ye have turned back each to his possession, which I have given to you.

21 সেই সময় আমি যিহোশূয়কে আদেশ করলাম “তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু এই দুই রাজার কী অবস্থা করেছেন তা তো তুমি নিজের চোখেই দেখেছ। তোমরা যেখানে যাচ্ছ সেখানকার সব রাজ্যের অবস্থাও সদাপ্রভু সেইরকমই করবেন।

'And Jehoshua I have commanded at that time, saying, Thine eyes are seeing all that which Jehovah your God hath done to these two kings — so doth Jehovah to all the kingdoms whither thou are passing over;

22 তাদের ভয় কোরো না; তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের হয়ে যুদ্ধ করবেন।”

fear them not, for Jehovah your God, He is fighting for you.

23 সেই সময় আমি সদাপ্রভুর কাছে মিনতি করলাম,

'And I entreat for grace unto Jehovah, at that time, saying,

24 “হে সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু, তুমি যে কত মহান ও শক্তিশালী তা তোমার দাসকে দেখাতে আরম্ভ করেছ। স্বর্গে বা পৃথিবীতে এমন ঈশ্বর কে আছে যে, তুমি যেসব কাজ করেছ তা করতে পারে এবং তুমি যে শক্তি দেখিয়েছ তা দেখাতে পারে?

Lord Jehovah, Thou — Thou hast begun to shew Thy servant Thy greatness, and Thy strong hand; for who [is] a God in the heavens or in earth who doth according to Thy works, and according to Thy might?

25 আমাকে ওপাড়ে গিয়ে জর্ডনের পারে সেই মনোরম জায়গাটি দেখতে দাও—সেই চমৎকার পাহাড়ি দেশ এবং লেবানন।”

Let me pass over, I pray Thee, and see the good land which [is] beyond the Jordan, this good hill-country, and Lebanon.

26 কিন্তু তোমাদের জন্য সদাপ্রভু আমার উপরে বিরক্ত হওয়াতে আমার কথা শুনলেন না। সদাপ্রভু বললেন, “যথেষ্ট হয়েছে, এই বিষয়ে আমাকে আর বোলো না।

'And Jehovah sheweth himself wroth with me, for your sake, and hath not hearkened unto me, and Jehovah saith unto me, Enough for thee; add not to speak unto Me any more about this thing:

27 তুমি পিস্‌গার চূড়ায় উঠে পশ্চিম ও উত্তর এবং দক্ষিণ ও পূর্বদিকে দেখো। তুমি নিজের চোখে সেই দেশ দেখো, কেননা তুমি জর্ডন পার হতে পারবে না।

go up [to] the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with thine eyes — for thou dost not pass over this Jordan;

28 কিন্তু যিহোশূয়কে দায়িত্ব দাও, এবং তাকে উৎসাহ ও সাহস জোগাও, কারণ সে এই লোকদের আগে আগে গিয়ে পার হবে এবং যে দেশটি তুমি দেখতে যাচ্ছ তা তাদের দিয়ে অধিকার করাবে।”

and charge Jehoshua, and strengthen him, and harden him, for he doth pass over before this people, and he doth cause them to inherit the land which thou seest.

29 সেইজন্য আমরা বেথ-পিয়োরের কাছের উপত্যকায় থেকে গেলাম।

'And we dwell in a valley over-against Beth-Peor.
