1 তাই, সিদিকিয়ের রাজত্বের নবম বছরে, ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজার, তাঁর সমস্ত সৈন্য নিয়ে জেরুশালেমের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধযাত্রা করলেন। তিনি নগরের বাইরে শিবির স্থাপন করে তার চারপাশে অবরোধ গড়ে তুললেন।
It happened in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and camped against it; and they built forts against it around it.
2 রাজা সিদিকিয়ের রাজত্বের এগারোতম বছর পর্যন্ত নগর অবরুদ্ধ রইল।
So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
3 চতুর্থ মাসের নবম দিনে নগরের দুর্ভিক্ষ এত চরম আকার নিয়েছিল, যে সেখানকার লোকজনের কাছে কোনও খাবারদাবার ছিল না।
On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
4 পরে নগরের প্রাচীর ভেঙে ফেলা হল, এবং রাতের বেলায় গোটা সৈন্যদল রাজার বাগানের কাছে থাকা দুটি প্রাচীরের মাঝখানে অবস্থিত দরজা দিয়ে পালিয়ে গেল, যদিও ব্যাবিলনের সৈন্যসামন্ত কিন্তু নগরটি ঘিরে রেখেছিল। তারা অরাবার দিকে পালিয়ে গেল,
Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and they went by the way of the Arabah.
5 কিন্তু ব্যাবিলনের সৈন্যদল রাজার পিছনে তাড়া করে গেল এবং যিরীহোর সমভূমিতে তাঁর নাগাল পেল। তাঁর সমস্ত সৈন্য তাঁর কাছ থেকে পৃথক হয়ে ছড়িয়ে পড়ল,
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
6 আর তিনি ধৃত হলেন। তাঁকে ধরে রিব্লাতে ব্যাবিলনের রাজার কাছে নিয়ে যাওয়া হল, এবং সেখানে তাঁর শাস্তি ঘোষণা করা হল।
Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment on him.
7 সিদিকিয়ের চোখের সামনেই তাঁর ছেলেদের তারা হত্যা করল। পরে তারা তাঁর চোখ উপড়ে নিয়েছিল, ও ব্রোঞ্জের শিকল দিয়ে বেঁধে তারা তাঁকে ব্যাবিলনে নিয়ে গেল।
They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
8 ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজারের রাজত্বকালের উনিশতম বছরের পঞ্চম মাসের সপ্তম দিনে ব্যাবিলনের রাজার এক কর্মকর্তা, রাজকীয় রক্ষীদলের সেনাপতি নবূষরদন জেরুশালেমে এলেন।
Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, to Jerusalem.
9 তিনি সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে, রাজপ্রাসাদে এবং জেরুশালেমের সব বাড়িতে আগুন লাগিয়ে দিলেন। প্রত্যেকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘরবাড়ি তিনি পুড়িয়ে ছাই করে দিলেন।
He burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burnt he with fire.
10 রাজরক্ষীদলের সেনাপতির অধীনস্থ সমস্ত ব্যাবিলনীয় সৈন্য জেরুশালেমের চারপাশের প্রাচীর ভেঙে দিয়েছিল।
All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem.
11 রক্ষীদলের সেনাপতি নবূষরদন নগরে থেকে যাওয়া লোকজনকে, এবং তাদের পাশাপাশি বাদবাকি জনসাধারণকে ও যারা ব্যাবিলনের রাজার কাছে পালিয়ে গেল, তাদেরও নির্বাসনে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।
Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the residue of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude.
12 কিন্তু সেনাপতি দেশের অত্যন্ত গরিব কয়েকজন লোককে দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে ও ক্ষেতখামারে কাজ করার জন্য ছেড়ে গেলেন।
But the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to work the vineyards and fields.
13 ব্যাবিলনীয়েরা সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের পিতলের দুটি স্তম্ভ, স্থানান্তরযোগ্য গামলা বসাবার পাত্রগুলি ও পিতলের সমুদ্রপাত্রটি ভেঙে খণ্ড খণ্ড করল, আর তারা সেগুলির পিতল ব্যাবিলনে নিয়ে গেল।
The Chaldeans broke up the pillars of bronze that were in the house of the LORD and the bases and the bronze sea that were in the house of the LORD, and carried the bronze pieces to Babylon.
14 এছাড়াও তারা হাঁড়ি, বেলচা, সলতে ছাঁটার যন্ত্র, থালা ও মন্দিরের সেবাকাজে যেগুলি ব্যবহৃত হত, ব্রোঞ্জের সেইসব জিনিসপত্রও তুলে নিয়ে গেল।
They took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the spoons, and all the vessels of bronze with which they ministered.
15 রাজরক্ষীদলের সেনাপতি পাকা সোনা বা রুপো দিয়ে তৈরি সব ধুনুচি ও জল ছিটোনোর গামলাগুলিও নিয়ে গেলেন।
The captain of the guard took away the fire pans, the basins, that which was of gold, in gold, and that which was of silver, in silver.
16 সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের জন্য শলোমন যে দুটি থাম, সমুদ্রপাত্র ও সরণযোগ্য তাকগুলি তৈরি করলেন, সেগুলিতে এত ব্রোঞ্জ ছিল যে তা মেপে রাখা সম্ভব হয়নি।
The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the bronze of all these vessels was without weight.
17 প্রত্যেকটি স্তম্ভ উচ্চতায় ছিল আঠারো হাত করে। এক-একটি স্তম্ভের মাথায় রাখা ব্রোঞ্জের স্তম্ভশীর্ষের উচ্চতা ছিল তিন হাত এবং সেটি পরস্পরছেদী এক জালের মতো করে সাজিয়ে দেওয়া হল ও সেটির চারপাশে ছিল ব্রোঞ্জের বেশ কয়েকটি ডালিম। অন্য থামেও একইরকম ভাবে পরস্পরছেদী জালের মতো সাজসজ্জা ছিল।
The height of the one pillar was thirty-one feet, and a capital of bronze was on it; and the height of the capital was eight feet seven inches, with network and pomegranates on the capital around it, all of bronze: and like to these had the second pillar with network.
18 রক্ষীদলের সেনাপতি মহাযাজক সরায়কে, পদাধিকারবলে তাঁর পরে যিনি ছিলেন, সেই যাজক সফনিয়কে ও তিনজন দারোয়ানকে বন্দি করে নিয়ে গেলেন।
The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold:
19 নগরে তখনও যারা থেকে গেলেন, তাদের মধ্যে যাঁর উপর যোদ্ধাদের দেখাশোনার দায়িত্ব ছিল, তাঁকে, ও পাঁচজন রাজকীয় পরামর্শদাতাকেও তিনি ধরেছিলেন। এছাড়াও যাঁর উপর দেশের প্রজাদের সামরিক বাহিনীতে কাজ করার জন্য বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে যোগ দেওয়ানোর দায়িত্ব দেওয়া ছিল, সেই সচিবকে এবং নগরে যে ষাটজন বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে সৈন্যতালিকাভুক্ত ব্যক্তি পাওয়া গেল, তাদেরও তিনি ধরেছিলেন।
and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and five men of those who saw the king's face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the city.
20 সেনাপতি নবূষরদন তাদের সবাইকে ধরে রিব্লাতে ব্যাবিলনের রাজার কাছে নিয়ে এলেন।
Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.
21 হমাৎ দেশের রিব্লাতে ব্যাবিলনের রাজা প্রাণদণ্ডে দণ্ডিত এই লোকদের বধ করলেন। অতএব যিহূদা তার দেশ থেকে নির্বাসিত হল।
The king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.
22 ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজার যিহূদাতে যেসব লোকজন ছেড়ে গেলেন, তাদের উপর তিনি শাফনের নাতি, অর্থাৎ অহীকামের ছেলে গদলিয়কে শাসনকর্তা নিযুক্ত করলেন।
As for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor.
23 যখন সৈন্যদলের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তা ও তাদের লোকজনেরা শুনতে পেয়েছিলেন যে ব্যাবিলনের রাজা গদলিয়কে শাসনকর্তা নিযুক্ত করেছেন, তখন তারা—অর্থাৎ নথনিয়ের ছেলে ইশ্মায়েল, কারেহর ছেলে যোহানন, নটোফাতীয় তন্হূমতের ছেলে সরায়, সেই মাখাতীয়ের ছেলে যাসনিয়, এবং তাদের লোকজন মিস্পাতে গদলিয়ের কাছে এলেন।
Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.
24 তাদের ও তাদের লোকজনকে আশ্বস্ত করার জন্য গদলিয় একটি শপথ নিয়েছিলেন। “ব্যাবিলনের কর্মকর্তাদের তোমরা ভয় কোরো না,” তিনি বললেন। “দেশেই থেকে যাও ও ব্যাবিলনের রাজার সেবা করো, তাতে তোমাদেরই মঙ্গল হবে।”
Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them, "Do not be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you."
25 সপ্তম মাসে অবশ্য ইলীশামার নাতি ও নথনিয়ের ছেলে, তথা শরীরে রাজরক্ত ধারণকারী সেই ইশ্মায়েল সাথে দশজন লোক নিয়ে এসে গদলিয়কে এবং মিস্পাতে সেই সময় তাঁর সাথে যিহূদার যে লোকেরা ছিল, তাদের ও ব্যাবিলন থেকে আসা কয়েকজন লোককেও হত্যা করলেন।
But it happened in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family came, and ten men with him, and struck Gedaliah, so that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.
26 এই পরিস্থিতিতে, ছোটো থেকে বড়ো, সব লোকজন, সৈন্যদলের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তাদের সাথে মিলিতভাবে ব্যাবিলনের লোকজনের ভয়ে মিশরে পালিয়ে গেলেন।
All the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces, arose, and came to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.
27 যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াখীনের বন্দিত্বের সাঁইত্রিশতম বছরে, অর্থাৎ যে বছর ইবিল-মরোদক ব্যাবিলনের রাজা হলেন, সেই বছরেই তিনি যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াখীনকে কারাগার থেকে মুক্তি দিলেন। দ্বাদশ মাসের সাতাশতম দিনে তিনি এ কাজ করলেন।
It happened in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Awil-Marduk king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
28 তিনি যিহোয়াখীনের সাথে সদয় ভঙ্গিতে কথা বললেন এবং ব্যাবিলনে তাঁর সাথে অন্যান্য যেসব রাজা ছিলেন, তাদের তুলনায় তিনি যিহোয়াখীনকে বেশি সম্মানীয় এক আসন দিলেন।
and he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,
29 তাই যিহোয়াখীন তাঁর কয়েদির পোশাক একদিকে সরিয়ে রেখেছিলেন এবং জীবনের বাকি দিনগুলি তিনি নিয়মিতভাবে রাজার টেবিলেই বসে ভোজনপান করলেন।
and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life:
30 যতদিন যিহোয়াখীন বেঁচেছিলেন, রাজামশাই প্রত্যেকদিন নিয়মিতভাবে তাঁকে ভাতা দিয়ে গেলেন।
and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him of the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life.
