1 রাজা হিষ্কিয় একথা শুনে নিজের কাপড় ছিঁড়লেন। তিনি শোকের পোশাক পরে সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে গেলেন।
And whanne kyng Ezechie hadde herd these thingis, he to-rente his clothis, and was hilid with a sak; and he entride in to the hous of the Lord.
2 তিনি রাজপ্রাসাদের পরিচালক ইলিয়াকীম, সচিব শিব্ন ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ যাজকদের, আমোষের পুত্র, ভাববাদী যিশাইয়ের কাছে প্রেরণ করলেন। তারা সবাই শোকের পোশাক পরেছিলেন।
And he sente Eliachym, souereyn of the hous, and Sobna, scryueyn, and elde men of the preestis, hilid with sackis, to Ysaie, the prophete, sone of Amos.
3 তারা গিয়ে তাঁকে বললেন, “হিষ্কিয় একথাই বলেন: আজকের এই দিনটি হল মর্মান্তিক যন্ত্রণা, তিরস্কার ও কলঙ্কময় একদিন, ঠিক যেমন সন্তান প্রসবের সময় এসে গিয়েছে, অথচ যেন সন্তান প্রসবের শক্তিই নেই।
Whiche seiden, Ezechie seith these thingis, This dai is a dai of tribulacioun, and of blamyng, and of blasfemye; sones camen `til to the childberyng, and the `traueler of childe hath not strengthis.
4 হয়তো সদাপ্রভু, আপনার ঈশ্বর সেই সৈন্যাধ্যক্ষের সব কথা শুনে থাকবেন, যাকে তার মনিব, আসিরীয় রাজা, জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরকে বিদ্রুপ করার জন্য প্রেরণ করেছিলেন। সদাপ্রভু, আপনার ঈশ্বর, যে কথা শুনেছেন, তার জন্য তিনি হয়তো তাঁকে তিরস্কার করবেন। সেই কারণে, যারা এখনও বেঁচে আছে, আপনি অবশিষ্ট তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করুন।”
If perauenture thi Lord God here alle the wordis of Rabsaces, whom the kyng of Assiryens, his lord sente, that he schulde dispise the Lord lyuynge, and repreue bi wordis, whiche thi Lord God herde; and make thou preier for these relikis, that ben foundun.
5 যখন রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের কর্মচারীরা যিশাইয়ের কাছে গেলেন,
Therfor the seruauntis of kyng Ezechie camen to Isaie;
6 যিশাইয় তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা গিয়ে তোমাদের মনিবকে বলো, ‘সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: আসিরীয় রাজার অধীন ব্যক্তিরা আমার সম্পর্কে যেসব নিন্দার উক্তি করেছে, যেগুলি তোমরা শুনেছ, সে সম্পর্কে ভয় পেয়ো না।
and Isaie seide to hem, Seie ye these thingis to youre lord, The Lord seith these thingis, Nyle thou drede of the face of wordis whiche thou herdist, bi whiche the children of the kyng of Assiriens blasfemeden me.
7 তোমরা শোনো! আমি তার মধ্যে এমন এক মনোভাব দেব, যার ফলে সে যখন এক সংবাদ শুনবে, সে তার স্বদেশে ফিরে যাবে। সেখানে আমি তাকে তরোয়ালের দ্বারা বিনষ্ট করব।’”
Lo! Y schal sende to hym a spirit, and he schal here a messanger, and he schal turne ayen in to his lond; and Y schal caste hym doun bi swerd in his owne lond.
8 সেই সৈন্যাধ্যক্ষ যখন শুনতে পেলেন যে, আসিরীয় রাজার লাখীশ ত্যাগ করে চলে গেছেন, তিনি ফিরে গেলেন এবং দেখলেন, রাজা লিব্নার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছেন।
Therfor Rabsaces turnede ayen, and foond the kyng of Assiriens fiytynge ayens Lobna; for he hadde herd, that the kyng hadde go awei fro Lachis.
9 পরে সন্হেরীব একটি সংবাদ শুনতে পেলেন যে, মিশরের কূশ দেশের রাজা তির্হক তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সমরাভিযান শুরু করেছেন। তাই, আবার তিনি এই কথা বলে হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে দূতদের পাঠালেন:
And whanne he hadde herd of Theracha, kyng of Ethiope, `men seyynge, Lo! he yede out, that he fiyte ayens thee; that he schulde go ayens `that kyng, he sente messangeris to Ezechie,
10 “যিহূদার রাজা হিষ্কিয়কে গিয়ে বলো: যে দেবতার উপর আপনি নির্ভর করে আছেন, তিনি যেন এই কথা বলে আপনাকে না ঠকান যে, ‘আসিরিয়ার রাজার হাতে জেরুশালেমকে সমর্পণ করা হবে না।’
and seide, Seie ye these thingis to Ezechie, kyng of Juda, Thi Lord God, in whom thou hast trist, disseyue not thee, nether seie thou, Jerusalem schal not be `bitakun in to the hondis of the kyng of Assiriens;
11 তোমরা নিশ্চয়ই শুনেছ, সব দেশের প্রতি আসিরীয় রাজা কী করেছেন। তিনি তাদের সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করেছেন। আর তোমরা কি তাঁর হাত থেকে রক্ষা পাবে?
for thou thi silf herdist what thingis the kyngis of Assiriens diden in alle londis, hou thei wastiden tho; whether therfor thou aloone maist be delyuered?
12 ওইসব জাতির দেশগুলি, যাদের আমার পিতৃপুরুষেরা ধ্বংস করেছিলেন, কেউ কি তাদের উদ্ধার করতে পেরেছে—অর্থাৎ গোষণ, হারণ, রেৎসফ ও তেল-অৎসরে বসবাসকারী এদনের লোকেদের দেবতারা?
Whether the goddis of hethene men delyueriden alle men whiche my fadris distrieden, that is, Gozam, and Aran, and Reseph, and the sones of Eden, that weren in Thelassar?
13 হমাতের রাজা বা অর্পদের রাজা কোথায় গেল? লায়ীর, সফর্বয়িম, হেনা ও ইব্বার রাজারাই বা কোথায় গেল?”
Where is the kyng of Emath, and the kyng of Arphat? and the kyng of the cytee of Sepharuaym, of Ana, and of Aua?
14 সেই দূতদের কাছ থেকে পত্রখানি গ্রহণ করে হিষ্কিয় পাঠ করলেন। তারপর তিনি সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে উঠে গেলেন এবং সদাপ্রভুর সামনে তা মেলে ধরলেন।
Therfor whanne Ezechie hadde take the lettris fro the hond of messangeris, and hadde red tho, he stiede in to the hows of the Lord, and spredde abrood tho bifor the Lord;
15 আর হিষ্কিয় এই বলে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন: “দুই করূবের মাঝে বিরাজমান হে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, একমাত্র তুমিই পৃথিবীর সব রাজ্যের ঈশ্বর। তুমিই আকাশমণ্ডল ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছ।
and preiede in his siyt, and seide, Lord God of Israel, that sittist on cherubym, thou art God aloone of alle kyngis of erthe; thou madist heuene and erthe.
16 হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি কর্ণপাত করো ও শোনো; হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি তোমার দৃষ্টি উন্মোচন করো ও দেখো; জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরকে অপমান করে সন্হেরীব যেসব কথা বলেছে, তা তুমি শ্রবণ করো।
Bowe thin eere, and here; opyn thin iyen, Lord, and se; and here alle the wordis of Senacherib, which sente, that he schulde dispise `to vs `God lyuynge.
17 “একথা সত্যি, হে সদাপ্রভু, যে আসিরীয় রাজারা এই সমস্ত জাতি ও তাদের দেশগুলিকে বিনষ্ট করেছে।
Verili, Lord, the kynges of Assiriens distrieden hethene men, and the londis of alle men,
18 তারা তাদের দেবতাদের আগুনে নিক্ষেপ করে তাদের ধ্বংস করেছে, কারণ তারা দেবতা নয়, কিন্তু ছিল কেবলমাত্র কাঠ ও পাথরের তৈরি, মানুষের হাতে তৈরি শিল্প।
and senten the goddis of hem in to fier; for thei weren not goddis, but werkis of `hondis of men, of tre and stoon; and thei losten `tho goddis.
19 এখন, হে আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, তাঁর হাত থেকে আমাদের রক্ষা করো, যেন পৃথিবীর সব রাজ্য জানতে পারে যে, হে সদাপ্রভু, একমাত্র তুমিই ঈশ্বর।”
Now therfor, oure Lord God, make vs saaf fro the hond of hem, that alle rewmes of erthe wite that thou art the Lord God aloone.
20 পরে আমোষের ছেলে যিশাইয় হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে এই খবর দিয়ে পাঠালেন: “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু একথাই বলেন: আসিরিয়ার রাজা সন্হেরীবের বিষয়ে তোমার করা প্রার্থনাটি আমি শুনেছি।
Forsothe Isaie, sone of Amos, sente to Ezechie, and seide, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Y haue herd tho thingis, whiche thou preidist me on Sennacherib, king of Assiriens.
21 তার বিরুদ্ধে বলা সদাপ্রভুর বাণী হল এই: “কুমারী-কন্যা সিয়োন তোমাকে অবজ্ঞা ও উপহাস করে। জেরুশালেম-কন্যা তার মাথা নাড়ায় যখন তোমরা পলায়ন করো।
This is the word, which the Lord spak of hym, Thou virgyn douytir of Syon, he dispiside thee, and scornyde thee; thou douyter of Jerusalem, he mouyde his heed aftir thi bak.
22 তুমি কাকে অপমান ও কার নিন্দা করেছ? তুমি কার বিরুদ্ধে তোমার কণ্ঠস্বর তুলেছ ও গর্বিত চক্ষু উপরে তুলেছ? তা করেছ ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্রতমের বিরুদ্ধেই।
Sennacherib, whom `dispisidist thou, and whom `blasfemedist thou? Ayens whom hast thou reisid thi vois, and hast reisid thin iyen an hiye? Ayens the hooli of Israel.
23 তোমার দূতদের দ্বারা তুমি প্রভুর উপরে অপমানের বোঝা চাপিয়েছ। আবার তুমি বলেছ, ‘আমার বহুসংখ্যক রথের দ্বারা আমি পর্বতসমূহের শিখরে, লেবাননের সর্বোচ্চ চূড়াগুলির উপরে আরোহণ করেছি। আমি তার দীর্ঘতম সিডার গাছগুলিকে, তার উৎকৃষ্টতম দেবদারু গাছগুলিকে কেটে ফেলেছি। আমি তার প্রত্যন্ত এলাকায়, তার সুন্দর বনানীতে পৌঁছে গেছি।
Bi the hond of thi seruauntis thou dispisidist the Lord, and seidist, In the multitude of my charys Y stiede in to the hiye thingis of hillis, in the hiynesse of Liban, and kittide doun the hiye cedris therof, and the chosyn beechis therof; and Y entride `til to the termes therof,
24 আমি বিজাতীয় ভূমিতে কুয়ো খনন করেছি এবং সেখানকার জলপান করেছি। আমার পায়ের তলা দিয়ে আমি মিশরের সব স্রোতোধারা শুকিয়ে দিয়েছি।’
and Y kittide doun the forest of Carmele therof; and Y drank alien watris, and Y made drie with the steppis of `the feet of myn `alle watris closid.
25 “তুমি কি শুনতে পাওনি? বহুপূর্বে আমি তা স্থির করেছিলাম। পুরাকালে আমি তার পরিকল্পনা করেছিলাম; কিন্তু এখন আমি তা ঘটতে দিয়েছি, সেই কারণে তুমি সুরক্ষিত নগরগুলিকে পাথরের ঢিবিতে পরিণত করেছ।
Whether thou herdist not, what Y made at the bigynnyng? Fro elde daies Y made it, and now Y haue brouyt forth; and strengthid citees of fiyteris schulen be in to fallyng of hillis.
26 সেইসব জাতির লোকেরা ক্ষমতাহীন হয়েছে, তারা হতাশ হয়ে লজ্জিত হয়েছে। তারা হল মাঠের গাছগুলির মতো, গজিয়ে ওঠা কোমল অঙ্কুরের মতো, যেমন ছাদের উপরে ঘাস গজিয়ে ওঠে, কিন্তু বেড়ে ওঠার আগেই তাপে শুকিয়ে যায়।
And thei that sitten meke of hond in tho, trembliden togidere, and ben schent; thei ben maad as the hei of the feeld, and as grene eerbe of roouys, which is dried, bifor that it cam to ripenesse.
27 “কিন্তু আমি জানি তোমার অবস্থান কোথায়, কখন তুমি আস ও যাও, আর কীভাবে তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করো।
And Y bifor knew thi dwellyng, and thi goyng out, and thin entryng, and thi weie, and thi woodnesse ayens me.
28 যেহেতু তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করো, আর যেহেতু তোমার অভব্য আচরণের কথা আমার কানে পৌঁছেছে, আমি তোমার নাকে আমার বড়শি ফোটাব, তোমার মুখে দেব আমার বলগা, আর যে পথ দিয়ে তুমি এসেছ, সেই পথেই তোমাকে ফিরিয়ে দেব।
Thou were wood ayens me, and thi pride stide in to myn eeris; therfor Y schal putte a cercle in thi nosethirlis, and a bernacle in thi lippis, and Y schal lede thee ayen in to the weie bi which thou camest.
29 “আর ওহে হিষ্কিয়, এই হবে তোমার পক্ষে চিহ্নস্বরূপ: “এই বছরে তোমরা আপনা-আপনি উৎপন্ন শস্য, আর দ্বিতীয় বছরে তা থেকে যা উৎপন্ন হবে, তোমরা তাই ভোজন করবে। কিন্তু তৃতীয় বছরে তোমরা বীজবপন ও শস্যচ্ছেদন করবে, দ্রাক্ষাকুঞ্জ রোপণ করে তার ফল খাবে।
Forsothe, Ezechie, this schal be a signe `to thee; ete thou in this yeer that, that thou fyndist; forsothe in the secounde yeer tho thingis, that growen bi her owne wille; sotheli in the thridde yeer sowe ye, and repe ye, plaunte ye vyneris, and ete the fruytis of tho.
30 আরও একবার যিহূদা রাজ্যের অবশিষ্ট লোকেরা পায়ের নিচে মূল খুঁজে পাবে ও তাদের উপরে ফল ধরবে।
And what euer thing schal be residue of the hows of Juda, it schal sende root dounward, and schal make fruyt vpward.
31 কারণ জেরুশালেম থেকে আসবে এক অবশিষ্টাংশ, আর সিয়োন পর্বত থেকে আসবে বেঁচে থাকা লোকের একদল। সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর উদ্যোগই তা সুসম্পন্ন করবে।
For relikis schulen go out of Jerusalem, and that, that schal be sauyd, `schal go out of the hil of Syon; the feruent loue of the Lord of oostis schal do this.
32 “সেই কারণে, আসিরীয় রাজা সম্পর্কে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “সে এই নগরে প্রবেশ করবে না, কিংবা এখানে কোনো তির নিক্ষেপ করবে না। সে এই নগরের সামনে ঢাল নিয়ে আসবে না, কিংবা কোনো জাঙ্গাল নির্মাণ করবে না।
Wherfor the Lord seith these thingis of the kyng of Assiriens, He schal not entre in to this citee, nethir he schal sende an arowe in to it, nether scheeld shal occupie it, nether strengthing, ethir bisegyng, schal cumpasse it.
33 যে পথ দিয়ে সে আসবে, সে পথেই যাবে ফিরে; সে এই নগরে প্রবেশ করবে না,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
He schal turne ayen bi the weie `bi which he cam, and he schal not entre in to this citee, seith the Lord;
34 “আমি আমার জন্য ও আমার দাস দাউদের জন্য এই নগর রক্ষা করে তা উদ্ধার করব!”
and Y schal defende this citee, and Y schal saue it for me, and for Dauid, my seruaunt.
35 সেরাতেই সদাপ্রভুর দূত আসিরীয়দের সৈন্যশিবিরে গিয়ে এক লক্ষ পঁচাশি হাজার সৈন্য মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। পরদিন সকালে যখন লোকজন ঘুম থেকে উঠেছিল—দেখা গেল সর্বত্র শুধু মৃতদেহ ছড়িয়ে পড়ে আছে!
Therfor it was don, in that niyt the aungel of the Lord cam, and smoot in the castels of Assiryens an hundrid foure score and fyue thousynde. And whanne Sennacherib hadde rise eerli, he siy alle bodies of deed men; and he departide, and yede awei.
36 তাই আসিরিয়ার রাজা সন্হেরীব সৈন্যশিবির ভেঙে দিয়ে সেখান থেকে সরে পড়েছিলেন। তিনি নীনবীতে ফিরে গিয়ে সেখানেই থেকে গেলেন।
And Sennacherib, the kyng of Assiriens, turnede ayen, and dwellide in Nynyue.
37 একদিন, যখন তিনি তাঁর দেবতা নিষ্রোকের মন্দিরে পুজো করছিলেন, তাঁর দুই ছেলে অদ্রম্মেলক ও শরেৎসর তরোয়াল দিয়ে তাঁকে হত্যা করল, এবং আরারট দেশে পালিয়ে গেল। তাঁর ছেলে এসর-হদ্দোন রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
And whanne he worschipide in the temple Nestrach his god, Adramelech and Sirasar, his sones, killide hym with swerd; and thei fledden in to the lond of Armenyes; and Asaradon, his sone, regnyde for hym.
