1 দাউদের ছেলে শলোমন তাঁর রাজ্যের উপর নিজেকে সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত করলেন, কারণ তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁর সাথেই ছিলেন ও তিনি তাঁকে খুব উন্নত করলেন।
Solomon son of David was strengthened in his rule, and Yahweh his God was with him and made him very powerful.
2 পরে শলোমন সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের সাথে—সহস্র-সেনাপতিদের ও শত-সেনাপতিদের, বিচারকদের এবং ইস্রায়েলের সব নেতার, অর্থাৎ বিভিন্ন বংশের কর্তাব্যক্তিদের—সাথে কথা বললেন
Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers' houses.
3 এবং শলোমন ও সমগ্র জনসমাজ গিবিয়োনের উঁচু স্থানটিতে গেলেন, কারণ ঈশ্বরের সেই সমাগম তাঁবুটি সেখানেই ছিল, যেটি সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি মরুপ্রান্তরে তৈরি করলেন।
So Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for there was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh, had made in the wilderness.
4 ইত্যবসরে দাউদ কিরিয়ৎ-যিয়ারীম থেকে ঈশ্বরের তাঁবুটি সেখানেই নিয়ে এলেন, যে স্থানটি তিনি সেটি রাখার জন্য তৈরি করলেন, কারণ জেরুশালেমেই তিনি সেটি রাখার জন্য একটি তাঁবু খাটিয়েছিলেন।
But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place that he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 কিন্তু হূরের নাতি তথা ঊরির ছেলে বৎসলেলের তৈরি করা ব্রোঞ্জের সেই বেদিটি গিবিয়োনে সদাপ্রভুর সমাগম তাঁবুর সামনেই রাখা ছিল; তাই শলোমন ও সেই জনসমাজ সেখানেই তাঁর কাছে খোঁজখবর নিয়েছিলেন।
In addition, the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur was there before the tabernacle of Yahweh; Solomon and the assembly went to it.
6 শলোমন সমাগম তাঁবুতে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে রাখা ব্রোঞ্জের বেদির কাছে গেলেন ও সেটির উপর এক হাজার হোমবলি উৎসর্গ করলেন।
Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.
7 সেরাতে ঈশ্বর শলোমনের কাছে আবির্ভূত হয়ে বললেন, “তোমার যা ইচ্ছা হয়, আমার কাছে তাই চেয়ে নাও।”
God appeared to Solomon that night and said to him, “Ask! What should I give you?”
8 শলোমন ঈশ্বরকে উত্তর দিলেন, “আমার বাবা দাউদের প্রতি তুমি যথেষ্ট দয়া দেখিয়েছ এবং তাঁর স্থানে তুমি আমাকেই রাজা করেছ।
Solomon said to God, “You have shown great covenant faithfulness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
9 এখন, হে ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, আমার বাবা দাউদের কাছে করা তোমার প্রতিজ্ঞাটি সুনিশ্চিত করো, কারণ তুমি আমাকে এমন এক জাতির উপরে রাজা করেছ, যারা সংখ্যায় পৃথিবীর ধূলিকণার মতো অসংখ্য।
Now, Yahweh God, let your promise to David my father be carried out, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 আমাকে তুমি এমন প্রজ্ঞা ও জ্ঞান দাও, যেন আমি এইসব লোককে পরিচালনা করতে পারি, কারণ কে-ই বা তোমার এই বিশাল প্রজাপালকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে সক্ষম?”
Now give me wisdom and knowledge, so that I may lead this people, for who can judge your people, who are so many in number?”
11 ঈশ্বর শলোমনকে বললেন, “যেহেতু এই তোমার অন্তরের বাসনা ও তুমি ধনসম্পদ, অধিকার বা সম্মান চাওনি, না তুমি তোমার শত্রুদের মৃত্যু কামনা করেছ, এবং যেহেতু তুমি দীর্ঘায়ু না চেয়ে যাদের উপর আমি তোমাকে রাজা করেছি, আমার সেই প্রজাদের নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার জন্য প্রজ্ঞা ও জ্ঞান চেয়েছ,
God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and because you have not asked for riches, wealth, or honor, nor for the life of those who hate you, nor for long life for yourself, but you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you might rule my people, over whom I have made you king, and this is what I will do.
12 তাই তোমাকে প্রজ্ঞা ও জ্ঞান দেওয়া হবে। এছাড়াও আমি তোমাকে এমন ধনসম্পদ, অধিকার ও সম্মান দেব, যেমনটি না তোমার আগে রাজত্ব করে যাওয়া কোনও রাজা পেয়েছে বা তোমার পরে আসতে চলেছে, এমন কোনও রাজা কখনও পাবে।”
I will now give you wisdom and knowledge. I will also give you riches, wealth, and honor, as none of the kings had before you, and none after you will have.”
13 পরে শলোমন গিবিয়োনের সেই উঁচু স্থানটি ছেড়ে, সমাগম তাঁবুর সামনে থেকে জেরুশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন। আর তিনি ইস্রায়েলের উপর রাজত্ব করে যেতে লাগলেন।
So Solomon came to Jerusalem from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting; he reigned over Israel.
14 শলোমন প্রচুর রথ ও ঘোড়া একত্রিত করলেন; তাঁর কাছে এক হাজার চারশো রথ ও 12,000 ঘোড়া ছিল, যা তিনি বিভিন্ন রথ-নগরীতে রেখেছিলেন এবং কয়েকটিকে তিনি নিজের কাছে জেরুশালেমেও রেখেছিলেন।
Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had 1,400 chariots and twelve thousand horsemen that he placed in the chariot cities, and with himself, the king in Jerusalem.
15 জেরুশালেমে রাজা, রুপো ও সোনাকে পাথরের মতো সাধারণ স্তরে নামিয়ে এনেছিলেন, এবং দেবদারু কাঠকে পর্বতমালার পাদদেশে উৎপন্ন ডুমুর গাছের মতো পর্যাপ্ত করে তুলেছিলেন।
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as the stones, and he made cedar wood as common as the sycamore trees that are in the lowlands.
16 শলোমনের ঘোড়াগুলি আমদানি করা হত মিশর ও কুই থেকে—রাজকীয় বণিকেরা বাজার দরে সেগুলি কুই থেকে কিনে আনত।
As for the importation of horses from Egypt and Kue for Solomon, his merchants bought them from Kue at a price.
17 তারা মিশর থেকে এক-একটি রথ আমদানি করত ছয়শো শেকল রুপো দিয়ে, এবং এক-একটি ঘোড়া আমদানি করত একশো 50 শেকলে। এছাড়াও হিত্তীয় ও অরামীয় সব রাজার কাছে তারা সেগুলি রপ্তানিও করত।
They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for 150 shekels. They also exported them to the kings of the Hittites and the Arameans.
