বংশাবলির দ্বিতীয় খণ্ড 26

1 পরে যিহূদার সব লোকজন সেই উষিয়কে এনে রাজারূপে তাঁকে তাঁর বাবা অমৎসিয়ের স্থলাভিষিক্ত করল, যাঁর বয়স তখন ষোলো বছর।

And all the people of Judah take Uzziah (and he [is] a son of sixteen years), and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah.

2 রাজা অমৎসিয় তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে চিরবিশ্রামে শায়িত হওয়ার পর এই ঊষিয়ই এলৎ নগরটি আরেকবার নতুন করে গড়ে তুলেছিলেন এবং সেটি যিহূদার অধিকারের অধীনে নিয়ে এলেন।

He hath built Eloth, and restoreth it to Judah after the king's lying with his fathers.

3 উষিয় ষোলো বছর বয়সে রাজা হলেন, এবং জেরুশালেমে বাহান্ন বছর রাজত্ব করলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম যিখলিয়া; তিনি জেরুশালেমে বসবাস করতেন।

A son of sixteen years [is] Uzziah in his reigning, and fifty and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

4 সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা ঠিক, তিনি তাই করতেন, ঠিক যেমনটি তাঁর বাবা অমৎসিয়ও করতেন,

And he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Amaziah his father did,

5 যিনি তাঁকে ঈশ্বরভয় শিক্ষা দিলেন, সেই সখরিয়ের জীবনকালে বরাবর তিনি ঈশ্বরের অন্বেষণ করে গেলেন। যতদিন তিনি সদাপ্রভুর অন্বেষণ করে গেলেন, ততদিন ঈশ্বর তাঁকে সাফল্যও দিলেন।

and he is as one seeking God in the days of Zechariah who hath understanding in visions of God: and in the days of his seeking Jehovah, God hath caused him to prosper.

6 তিনি ফিলিস্তিনীদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধযাত্রা করলেন এবং গাতের, যবনির ও অস্‌দোদের প্রাচীর ভেঙে দিলেন। পরে তিনি অস্‌দোদের কাছে ও ফিলিস্তিনীদের মাঝখানে অন্যান্য স্থানে নতুন করে কয়েকটি নগর গড়ে তুলেছিলেন।

And he goeth forth, and fighteth with the Philistines, and breaketh down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and buildeth cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

7 ফিলিস্তিনীদের বিরুদ্ধে এবং যারা গূর-বায়ালে বসবাস করত, সেই আরবীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে ও মিয়ূনীয়দের বিরুদ্ধেও ঈশ্বর তাঁকে সাহায্য করলেন।

And God helpeth him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who are dwelling in Gur-Baal and the Mehunim.

8 অম্মোনীয়েরা উষিয়ের কাছে রাজকর নিয়ে এসেছিল, এবং তাঁর খ্যাতি একেবারে মিশরের সীমানা পর্যন্ত ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল, কারণ তিনি খুব শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠেছিলেন।

And the Ammonites give a present to Uzziah, and his name goeth unto the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself greatly.

9 জেরুশালেমে কোণার দ্বারে, উপত্যকার দ্বারে ও প্রাচীরের কোণে উষিয় কয়েকটি মিনার তৈরি করলেন, এবং সেগুলি মজবুতও করে তুলেছিলেন।

And Uzziah buildeth towers in Jerusalem, by the gate of the corner, and by the gate of the valley, and by the angle, and strengtheneth them;

10 মরুপ্রান্তরেও তিনি কয়েকটি মিনার তৈরি করলেন ও বেশ কয়েকটি কুয়ো খুঁড়েছিলেন, কারণ পাহাড়ের পাদদেশে ও সমভূমিতে তাঁর বেশ কিছু পশুপাল ছিল। পাহাড়ে ও উর্বর জমিতে অবস্থিত তাঁর ক্ষেতখামারে ও দ্রাক্ষাকুঞ্জে তিনি লোকজনকে কাজে লাগালেন, কারণ মাটির প্রতি তাঁর অগাধ ভালোবাসা ছিল।

and he buildeth towers in the wilderness, and diggeth many wells, for he had much cattle, both in the low country and in the plain, husbandmen and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.

11 উষিয়ের কাছে ভালো প্রশিক্ষণপ্রাপ্ত এমন এক সৈন্যদল ছিল, যারা রাজকীয় কর্মকর্তাদের মধ্যে একজন, সেই হনানীয়ের পরিচালনায়, তাদের সংখ্যানুসারে দলে দলে বিভক্ত হয়ে সচিব যিয়ূয়েলের ও কর্মকর্তা মাসেয়ের নেতৃত্বে যুদ্ধে যাওয়ার জন্য প্রস্তুত ছিল।

And Uzziah hath a force, making war, going forth to the host, by troops, in the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Masseiah the officer, by the hand of Hananiah [one] of the heads of the king.

12 যোদ্ধাদের উপর মোট 2,600 জন কুলপতি নিযুক্ত ছিলেন।

The whole number of heads of the fathers of the mighty ones of valour [is] two thousand and six hundred;

13 তাদের অধীনে 3,07,500 জন সৈন্যের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত এমন এক সৈন্যদল ছিল, যারা যুদ্ধের জন্য প্রশিক্ষণপ্রাপ্ত, ও রাজার শত্রুদের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁকে সাহায্য করার পক্ষে যথেষ্ট শক্তিশালী ছিল।

and by their hand [is] the force of the host, three hundred thousand, and seven thousand, and five hundred warriors, with mighty power to give help to the king against the enemy.

14 উষিয় সমগ্র সৈন্যদলের জন্য ঢাল, বর্শা, শিরস্ত্রাণ, বর্ম, ধনুক ও পাথর ছোঁড়ার গুলতির জোগান দিলেন।

And Uzziah prepareth for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, even to stones of the slings.

15 জেরুশালেমে তিনি এমন সব যন্ত্রপাতি তৈরি করিয়েছিলেন, যেন আবিষ্কৃত সেই যন্ত্রপাতিগুলি মিনারে ও প্রাচীরের কোনায় রেখে সৈনিকরা প্রাচীর থেকেই তির ছুঁড়তে ও বড়ো বড়ো পাথরের গোলা নিক্ষেপ করতে পারে। দূর দূর পর্যন্ত তাঁর খ্যাতি ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল, কারণ যতদিন না তিনি শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠেছিলেন, ততদিন তিনি প্রচুর সাহায্য পেয়েছিলেন।

And he maketh in Jerusalem inventions — a device of an inventor — to be on the towers, and on the corners, to shoot with arrows and with great stones, and his name goeth out unto a distance, for he hath been wonderfully helped till that he hath been strong.

16 কিন্তু শক্তিশালী হয়ে ওঠার পর উষিয়ের অহংকারই তাঁর পতনের কারণ হয়ে উঠেছিল। তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি তিনি অবিশ্বস্ত হলেন, এবং ধূপবেদিতে ধূপ পোড়ানোর জন্য তিনি সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে প্রবেশ করলেন।

And at his being strong his heart hath been high unto destruction, and he trespasseth against Jehovah his God, and goeth in unto the temple of Jehovah to make perfume upon the altar of perfume.

17 যাজক অসরিয় ও সদাপ্রভুর আরও আশি জন সাহসী যাজক তাঁকে অনুসরণ করলেন।

And Azariah the priest goeth in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah eighty, sons of valour,

18 তারা রাজা ঊষিয়কে বাধা দিয়ে বললেন, “হে উষিয়, সদাপ্রভুর কাছে ধূপ পোড়ানোর আপনার কোনও অধিকার নেই। এই অধিকার আছে শুধু সেই যাজকদের, যারা হারোণের বংশধর ও তাদেরই আলাদা করে উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে, যেন তারা ধূপ পোড়াতে পারে। পবিত্র এই পীঠস্থান থেকে আপনি বের হয়ে যান, কারণ আপনি অবিশ্বস্ত হয়েছেন; এবং সদাপ্রভু ঈশ্বর আপনাকে সম্মানিত করবেন না।”

and they stand up against Uzziah the king, and say to him, 'Not for thee, O Uzziah, to make perfume to Jehovah, but for priests, sons of Aaron, who are sanctified to make perfume; go forth from the sanctuary, for thou hast trespassed, and [it is] not to thee for honour from Jehovah God.'

19 উষিয় রেগে গেলেন, তখন হাতে একটি ধুনুচি নিয়ে তিনি ধূপ পোড়ানোর প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছিলেন। সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের মধ্যে, ধূপবেদির সামনে যাজকদের উপস্থিতিতে তিনি যখন তাদের প্রতি ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করছিলেন, তখনই তাঁর কপালে কুষ্ঠরোগ দেখা দিয়েছিল।

And Uzziah is wroth, and in his hand [is] a censer to make perfume, and in his being wroth with the priests — the leprosy hath risen in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of Jehovah, from beside the altar of perfume.

20 প্রধান যাজক অসরিয় ও অন্যান্য সব যাজক যখন তাঁর দিকে তাকিয়েছিলেন, তখন তারা দেখতে পেয়েছিলেন যে তাঁর কপালে কুষ্ঠরোগ দেখা দিয়েছে, তাই তাড়াতাড়ি করে তারা তাঁকে বাইরে নিয়ে গেলেন। বাস্তবিক, তিনি নিজেও বাইরে বেরিয়ে যেতে উদগ্রীব হলেন, কারণ সদাপ্রভুই তাঁকে যন্ত্রণায় কাতর করে তুলেছিলেন।

And Azariah the head priest looketh unto him, and all the priests, and lo, he [is] leprous in his forehead, and they hasten him thence, and also he himself hath hastened to go out, for Jehovah hath plagued him.

21 আমৃত্যু, রাজা উষিয় কুষ্ঠরোগী হয়েই ছিলেন। কুষ্ঠরোগাক্রান্ত হয়ে তিনি আলাদা একটি বাড়িতে বসবাস করলেন, এবং সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে তাঁর প্রবেশ করার ক্ষেত্রে নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি হল। তাঁর ছেলে যোথম প্রাসাদের দায়িত্ব নিয়েছিলেন এবং দেশের প্রজাদের শাসন করলেন।

And Uzziah the king is a leper unto the day of his death, and inhabiteth a separate house — a leper, for he hath been cut off from the house of Jehovah, and Jotham his son [is] over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.

22 শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত উষিয়ের রাজত্বকালের অন্যান্য সব ঘটনা আমোষের ছেলে ভাববাদী যিশাইয় লিখে রেখে গিয়েছেন।

And the rest of the matters of Uzziah, the first and the last, hath Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet written;

23 উষিয় তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে চিরবিশ্রামে শায়িত হলেন এবং তাঁকে তাদেরই কাছাকাছি এমন এক কবরস্থানে কবর দেওয়া হল, যেটি রাজাদেরই ছিল, কারণ প্রজারা বলল, “তাঁর কুষ্ঠরোগ হয়েছিল।” তাঁর ছেলে যোথম রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।

and Uzziah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers, in the field of the burying-place that the kings have, for they said, 'He [is] a leper;' and reign doth Jotham his son in his stead.
