১ম পিতর 4
1 অতএব, খ্রীষ্ট তাঁর শরীরে কষ্টভোগ করেছেন বলে, তোমরাও সেই একই উপায়ে নিজেদের সুসজ্জিত করে তোলো, কারণ যে শরীরে কষ্টভোগ করেছে, সে পাপের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক শেষ করেছে।
Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, do you also warm yourselves with the same mind: for he who has suffered in the flesh, has ceased from sin;
2 এর ফলে, সে মন্দ দৈহিক কামনাবাসনায় তার পার্থিব জীবনযাপন করে না, বরং ঈশ্বরের ইচ্ছা অনুসারেই করে।
so that he no longer lives his remaining time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 অইহুদিরা যেমন করে—লম্পটতা, ভোগলালসা, মদ্যপান, রঙ্গরস ও ঘৃণ্য প্রতিমাপূজা—এসব করে অতীতে তোমরা যথেষ্ট সময় কাটিয়ে দিয়েছ।
For the time which has passed of life, is sufficient to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, having walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excesses in wine, revelings, carousals, and abominable idolatries.
4 তোমরা তাদের মতো একই উচ্ছৃঙ্খলতার জীবন অনুসরণ করছ না বলে এখন তারা বিস্ময় বোধ করে ও তোমাদের উপরে অবমাননার বোঝা চাপিয়ে দেয়।
On which account they wonder that you do not run with them, into the same sink of debauchery, reviling you, --
5 কিন্তু যিনি জীবিত ও মৃতদের বিচার করতে প্রস্তুত, তাঁর কাছে তাদের কৈফিয়ত দিতে হবে।
who shall give account to him who is prepared to judge the living and the dead.
6 এই কারণেই এখন যারা মৃত, তাদের কাছেও সুসমাচার প্রচার করা হয়েছিল, যেন শারীরিকভাবে মানুষের মতো তাদের বিচার করা গেলেও, ঈশ্বরের ইচ্ছা অনুযায়ী তারা আত্মায় জীবিত থাকে।
For, to this end of the gospel was preached to the dead, that they might, indeed, be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7 সবকিছুরই অন্তিমকাল সন্নিকট। অতএব তোমরা শুদ্ধমন ও আত্মসংযমী হও, যেন প্রার্থনা করতে পারো।
Now the end of all things has approached; be, therefore, sober, and watch to prayer.
8 সর্বোপরি, পরস্পরকে গভীরভাবে ভালোবাসো, কারণ “ভালোবাসা পাপকে আবৃত করে।”
And above all things, have fervent love to one another; for love will cover a multitude of sins.
9 বিরক্তি বোধ না করে তোমরা একে অপরের আতিথ্য করো।
Be hospitable to one another, without murmurings.
10 প্রত্যেকেই অন্যদের সেবা করার উদ্দেশে যে বরদান লাভ করেছে, ঈশ্বরের সেই অনুগ্রহ তারা বিশ্বস্ত কর্মাধ্যক্ষের মতো ব্যবহার করুক।
Let every one, according as he has received a gift, minister it to the others, as good stewards of the manifold favor of God.
11 কেউ যদি কথা বলে, সে এমনভাবে বলুক, যেন ঈশ্বরের বাণীই বলছে। কেউ যদি সেবা করে, সে ঈশ্বরের দেওয়া শক্তির গুণেই তা করুক, যেন সব বিষয়ে যীশু খ্রীষ্টের মাধ্যমে ঈশ্বর প্রশংসিত হন। মহিমা ও পরাক্রম যুগে যুগে চিরকাল তাঁরই হোক। আমেন। (aiōn g165)
If any one speak, let him speak as the oracles of God: if any one minister, let him do it as from the strength which God supplies; that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 প্রিয় বন্ধুরা, যে যন্ত্রণাপূর্ণ পরীক্ষা তোমরা ভোগ করছ, তা কোনো অস্বাভাবিক ঘটনা তোমাদের প্রতি ঘটছে মনে করে বিস্মিত হোয়ো না।
Beloved, wonder not at the fiery trial among you, which is come upon you for a trial, as if some strange thing happened to you;
13 কিন্তু খ্রীষ্টের কষ্টভোগে তোমরাও অংশগ্রহণ করছ মনে করে আনন্দ করো, যেন যেদিন তাঁর মহিমা প্রকাশিত হবে, সেদিন তোমরাও অতিশয় আনন্দিত হতে পারো।
but, seeing you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice: that, also, at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice, with exceeding great joy.
14 খ্রীষ্টের নামের জন্য যদি তোমরা অপমানিত হও, তাহলে তোমরা ধন্য, কারণ ঈশ্বরের মহিমাময় আত্মা তোমাদের উপরে অধিষ্ঠান করছেন।
If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
15 তোমরা যদি কষ্টভোগ করো, তাহলে হত্যাকারী বা চোর অথবা অন্য কোনো প্রকার অপরাধী হয়ে, এমনকি, অনধিকার-চর্চাকারীরূপে করো না,
By them, indeed, he is evil spoken of, but by you he is glorified. Wherefore, let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a malefactor, or as a meddling person.
16 কিন্তু যদি খ্রীষ্টিয়ান বলে কষ্টভোগ করো, তাহলে লজ্জিত হোয়ো না, বরং সেই নামের জন্য ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করো।
However, if any one suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him even glorify God on that account.
17 কারণ ঈশ্বরের গৃহেই বিচারের সময় আরম্ভ হল, আর তা যদি আমাদের দিয়ে শুরু হয়, তাহলে যারা ঈশ্বরের সুসমাচারের অবাধ্য, তাদের পরিণতি কী হবে?
Indeed, the time is come that punishment must begin at the house of God; and if it begin first at us, what the end of them who do not obey the gospel of God?
18 আবার, “পরিত্রাণ লাভ যদি ধার্মিকদেরই কষ্টসাধ্য হয়, তাহলে ভক্তিহীন ও পাপীদের কী হবে?”
And, if the righteous with difficulty escape, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear!
19 তাহলে, সেই কারণে যারা ঈশ্বরের ইচ্ছা অনুযায়ী কষ্টভোগ করে, তারা তাদের বিশ্বস্ত সৃষ্টিকর্তার কাছে নিজেদের সমর্পণ করুক ও সৎকর্ম করে যাক।
Wherefore, then, let those who suffer by the will of God, commit their own lives to him in well doing, as a faithful Creator.
