প্রথম রাজাবলি 13
1 যারবিয়াম যখন একটি পশুবলি উৎসর্গ করার জন্য যজ্ঞবেদির কাছে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন, তখন সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো ঈশ্বরের একজন লোক যিহূদা থেকে বেথেলে এলেন।
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Beth-el: while Jerobo'am was standing upon the altar to burn incense.
2 সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো তিনি যজ্ঞবেদির বিরুদ্ধে চিৎকার করে বলে উঠেছিলেন: “ওহে যজ্ঞবেদি, ওহে যজ্ঞবেদি! সদাপ্রভু একথাই বলেন: ‘দাউদের কুলে এক ছেলে জন্মাবে, যার নাম হবে যোশিয়। তোমার উপর সে উঁচু উঁচু স্থানের সেইসব যাজককে বলি দেবে, যারা এখানে বলি উৎসর্গ করছে, এবং একদিন তোমার উপর মানুষের অস্থি জ্বালানো হবে।’”
And he called out against the altar by the word of the Lord, and he said, O altar, altar, thus hath said the Lord, Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name, and he shall sacrifice upon thee the priests of the high-places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.
3 সেই একই দিনে ঈশ্বরের লোক একটি চিহ্নও দিলেন: “এই চিহ্নের কথাই সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করে দিয়েছেন: যজ্ঞবেদিটি দুই ভাগে বিভক্ত হয়ে যাবে এবং সেটির উপরে রাখা ছাইভস্ম গড়িয়ে পড়বে।”
And he gave on the same day a token, saying, This is the token that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes which are upon it shall be spilled about.
4 ঈশ্বরের লোক বেথেলে যজ্ঞবেদির বিরুদ্ধে চিৎকার করে যা বললেন, তা শুনে রাজা যারবিয়াম যজ্ঞবেদি থেকেই তাঁর হাত বাড়িয়ে বলে উঠেছিলেন, “ওকে ধরো!” কিন্তু সেই লোকটির দিকে তিনি যে হাতটি বাড়িয়ে দিলেন সেটি এমনভাবে শুকিয়ে বিকৃত হয়ে গেল, যে তিনি আর সেটি টেনে আনতে পারেননি।
And it came to pass, when the king heard the word of the man of God, which he had called out against the altar in Beth-el, that Jerobo'am stretched forth his hand from off the altar, saying, Seize him. And his hand, which he had put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back to himself.
5 এছাড়া, সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো ঈশ্বরের লোকের দেওয়া চিহ্ন অনুসারে যজ্ঞবেদিও দুই ভাগে বিভক্ত হয়ে গেল ও ছাইভস্মও গড়িয়ে পড়েছিল।
The altar also was rent, and the ashes were spilled about from the altar, according to the token which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.
6 তখন রাজামশাই ঈশ্বরের লোককে বললেন, “আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে আমার হয়ে অনুরোধ জানান ও আমার জন্য প্রার্থনা করুন, যেন আমার হাতটি ঠিক হয়ে যায়।” অতএব ঈশ্বরের লোক তাঁর হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে অনুরোধ জানিয়েছিলেন, এবং রাজার হাতটি আগের মতো ঠিকঠাক হয়ে গেল।
And the king commenced and said unto the man of God, Offer but entreaty before the Lord thy God, and pray in behalf of me, that my hand may return to me again. And the man of God offered his entreaty before the Lord, and the king's hand returned to him again, and became as it was before.
7 রাজামশাই ঈশ্বরের লোককে বললেন, “আমার ঘরে এসে একটু ভোজনপান করুন, আর আমি আপনাকে কিছু উপহার দেব।”
And the king spoke unto the man of God, Come home with me, and take some refreshment, and I will give thee a present.
8 কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের লোক রাজাকে উত্তর দিলেন, “আপনি যদি আমাকে আপনার সম্পত্তির অর্ধেকও দেন, তবু আমি আপনার সাথে যাব না, বা এখানে রুটিও খাব না ও জলও পান করব না।
But the man of God said unto the king, If thou wert to give me the half of thy house, I would not go in with thee, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
9 কারণ সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো আমি এই আদেশ পেয়েছি: ‘তুমি রুটি খাবে না বা জলপান করবে না অথবা যে পথ দিয়ে এসেছ, সে পথে ফিরে যাবে না।’”
For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the way that thou camest.
10 অতএব তিনি অন্য পথ ধরেছিলেন ও যে পথ ধরে বেথেলে এলেন, সে পথে আর ফিরে যাননি।
So he went by another way, and returned not by the way on which he was come to Beth-el.
11 ইত্যবসরে বেথেলে একজন বৃদ্ধ ভাববাদী বসবাস করতেন। তাঁর ছেলেরা এসে সেদিন ঈশ্বরের সেই লোক যা যা করলেন, তা তাঁকে বললেন। তিনি রাজাকে যা যা বললেন, তারা তাদের বাবাকে সেসবও বলে শুনিয়েছিল।
Now there dwelt a certain old prophet in Beth-el; and his son came and told him all the deed that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words [also] which he had spoken unto the king, these too they told to their father.
12 তাদের বাবা তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তিনি কোনও পথে গিয়েছেন?” যিহূদা থেকে আসা ঈশ্বরের লোক যে পথে গেলেন, তা তাঁর ছেলেরা তাঁকে দেখিয়ে দিয়েছিল।
And their father spoke unto them, What way did he go? His sons however had seen what way had gone the man of God, who had come from Judah.
13 অতএব তিনি তাঁর ছেলেদের বললেন, “আমার জন্য গাধায় জিন চাপাও।” আর যখন তারা তাঁর জন্য গাধায় জিন চাপিয়েছিল, তখন তিনি সেটির পিঠে চড়ে
And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass, and he rode away thereon,
14 ঈশ্বরের লোকের সন্ধানে গেলেন। তিনি তাঁকে বিশাল একটি গাছের তলায় বসে থাকতে দেখে তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আপনিই কি ঈশ্বরের সেই লোক, যিনি যিহূদা থেকে এসেছেন?” “আমিই সেই লোক,” তিনি উত্তর দিলেন।
And he went after the man of God, and found him sitting under the oak; and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
15 তখন সেই ভাববাদী তাঁকে বললেন, “আমার সাথে ঘরে চলুন ও কিছু খেয়ে নিন।”
Then said he unto him, Come with me home, and eat bread.
16 ঈশ্বরের লোক বললেন, “আমি আপনার সাথে ফিরে যেতে পারব না, অথবা এই স্থানে আপনার সাথে রুটি খেতে বা জলপান করতেও পারব না।
And he said, I cannot return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place;
17 সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো আমাকে বলা হয়েছে: ‘সেখানে তুমি রুটি খেতে বা জলপান করতে পারবে না অথবা যে পথ ধরে এসেছ, সেই পথে আর ফিরে যেতে পারবে না।’”
For a command came to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt not eat bread nor drink water there; thou shalt not return to go by the way [also] by which thou camest.
18 সেই বৃদ্ধ ভাববাদী উত্তর দিলেন, “আমিও আপনার মতোই একজন ভাববাদী। আর সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো একজন স্বর্গদূত আমাকে বলেছেন: ‘তুমি সাথে করে তাকে তোমার বাড়িতে নিয়ে এসো, যেন সে রুটি খেতে ও জলপান করতে পারে।’” (কিন্তু তিনি তাঁর কাছে মিথ্যা কথা বললেন)
And he said unto him, I also am a prophet like thee; and an angel spoke unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee unto thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.
19 অতএব ঈশ্বরের সেই লোক তাঁর সাথে ফিরে গেলেন এবং তাঁর বাড়িতে ভোজনপান করলেন।
So he returned with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.
20 তারা যখন টেবিলে বসেছিলেন, তখন সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য সেই বৃদ্ধ ভাববাদীর কাছে উপস্থিত হল, যিনি তাঁকে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে এলেন।
And it came to pass, as they were sitting at the table, That the word of the Lord came unto the prophet who had brought him back;
21 তিনি যিহূদা থেকে আসা ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে চিৎকার করে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু একথাই বলেন: ‘তুমি সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য অমান্য করেছ এবং তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যে আদেশ দিলেন তা তুমি পালন করোনি।
And he called unto the man of God that was come from Judah, saying, Thus hath said the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the order of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God had commanded thee;
22 যেখানে তিনি তোমাকে ভোজনপান করতে বারণ করলেন, সেখানেই ফিরে এসে তুমি রুটি খেয়েছ ও জলপান করেছ। তাই তোমার দেহ তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের সমাধিস্থলে কবর দেওয়া হবে না।’”
But didst return, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of which he had spoken to thee, Thou shalt not eat bread, nor drink water: thy dead body shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 ঈশ্বরের লোক ভোজনপান শেষ করার পর যে ভাববাদী তাঁকে ফিরিয়ে এনেছিলেন, তিনি তাঁর জন্য গাধায় জিন চাপিয়ে দিলেন।
And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, [to wit, ] for the prophet whom he had brought back.
24 তিনি পথে যাচ্ছিলেন, এমন সময় একটি সিংহ এসে পথের উপরেই তাঁকে মেরে ফেলেছিল, এবং তাঁর দেহটি পথের উপর পড়েছিল, আর সেই গাধা ও সিংহটি সেই দেহের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছিল।
And when he was gone, a lion met him on the way, and slew him; and his corpse remained cast down on the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the corpse.
25 পথ দিয়ে যাওয়া কয়েকটি লোক যখন দেখেছিল সেই দেহটি পড়ে আছে, ও সেটির পাশে একটি সিংহ দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, তখন তারা সেই নগরে গিয়ে এই খবর দিয়েছিল, যেখানে সেই বৃদ্ধ ভাববাদী বসবাস করতেন।
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the corpse cast down on the way, and the lion standing by the corpse; and they came and spoke of it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 যিনি তাঁকে তাঁর যাত্রাপথ থেকে ফিরিয়ে এনেছিলেন, সেই ভাববাদী যখন এই খবর পেয়েছিলেন, তিনি বললেন, “তিনি ঈশ্বরের সেই লোক, যিনি সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য অমান্য করলেন। সদাপ্রভু যে কথা বলে তাঁকে সতর্ক করে দিলেন, সেইমতোই তাঁকে সিংহের হাতে তুলে দিয়েছেন, ও সিংহ তাঁকে ক্ষতবিক্ষত করে মেরে ফেলেছে।”
And when the prophet that had brought him back from the way heard it, he said, It is the man of God who was disobedient unto the order of the Lord; wherefore the Lord hath given him up unto the lion, who hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken unto him.
27 সেই ভাববাদী তাঁর ছেলেদের বললেন, “আমার জন্য গাধায় জিন চাপাও,” আর তারাও তেমনটি করল।
And he spoke to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.
28 পরে তিনি গিয়ে সেই দেহটি পথে পড়ে থাকতে দেখেছিলেন, এবং গাধা ও সিংহটি সেটির পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছিল। সিংহ দেহটিও খায়নি বা গাধাটিকেও ক্ষতবিক্ষত করেননি।
And he went and found his corpse cast down on the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the corpse: the lion had not eaten the corpse, nor torn the ass.
29 অতএব সেই ভাববাদী ঈশ্বরের লোকের দেহটি তুলে এনে সেটি গাধার পিঠে চাপিয়েছিলেন ও তাঁর উদ্দেশে শোকপ্রকাশ করার ও তাঁকে কবর দেওয়ার জন্য দেহটি নিজের নগরে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে গেলেন।
And the prophet took up the corpse of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back; and he came to the city of the old prophet, to lament for, and to bury him.
30 পরে তিনি দেহটি তাঁর নিজের কবরে শুইয়ে রেখেছিলেন, এবং তারা ঈশ্বরের লোকের জন্য শোকপ্রকাশ করে বললেন, “হায়, আমার ভাই!”
And he laid his corpse in his own sepulchre; and they lamented over him, “Alas, my brother!”
31 তাঁর দেহটি কবর দেওয়ার পর সেই ভাববাদী তাঁর ছেলেদের বললেন, “যে কবরে ঈশ্বরের লোককে কবর দেওয়া হয়েছে, আমি মারা যাওয়ার পর তোমরা আমাকে সেই কবরেই কবর দিয়ো; তাঁর অস্থির পাশেই আমার অস্থিও রেখে দিয়ো।
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; beside his bones lay ye my bones;
32 কারণ বেথেলের যজ্ঞবেদির বিরুদ্ধে ও শমরিয়ার নগরগুলিতে উঁচু উঁচু স্থানে স্থাপিত দেবতাদের সব পীঠস্থানের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো তিনি যে বাণী ঘোষণা করলেন, তা নিঃসন্দেহে সত্যি হতে চলেছে।”
For the thing which he called out by the word of the Lord against the altar which is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high-places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely come to pass.
33 এর পরেও যারবিয়াম তাঁর কুপথ পরিবর্তন করেননি, কিন্তু আরও একবার সব ধরনের লোকজনের মধ্যে থেকে উঁচু উঁচু স্থানগুলির জন্য যাজক নিযুক্ত করলেন। যে কেউ যাজক হতে চাইত, তিনি তাকে উঁচু উঁচু স্থানগুলির জন্য যাজকরূপে উৎসর্গ করে দিতেন।
After this event Jerobo'am returned not from his evil way; but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high-places: whosoever desired it, he consecrated, that he might become one of the priests of the high-places.
34 এটি মহাপাপরূপে গণ্য হল এবং যারবিয়াম কুলের পতনের ও পৃথিবীর বুক থেকে সেটি লুপ্ত হয়ে যাওয়ার মূল কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিল।
And he became through this thing the cause of sin unto the house of Jerobo'am, and to cause that it was blotted out, and destroyed from off the face of the earth.
